Title: KRITZERLAND GOES EAST
Post by: bk on June 21, 2014, 12:37:25 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes went east (and some would say south), and now it is time for you to post until the eastern cows come home.

Good morning, all! I slept in and now I'm trying to organize my mind and my day! Some of it will be spent listening to ROBERTA Act Two on the Big Speakers and making notes on fixes. Since we had thought we'd finish up on our last session and did not, I feel we made a lot of fast decisions that need to be corrected. I've got Rob Berman's thoughts on the first act, and I agree with much of them, but we've got one day to finish up on Friday so I want to be organized as possible.

We've only got three appendix numbers, and exit music to do from scratch, and only the cut number "Armful of trouble" is a real nightmare, so I'm anticipating things will run smoothly, but I'll be asking for Big Vibes on Thursday!

First thing this morning, I need to vacuum and tidy a bit.

DR vixmom, did you get to speak to our missing DR William Orr? I hope he's well.

I've been expecting positive Manhattan News about the Kritzerland shows for over a year now, i think, so i'm happy that it's come to fruition.

The DH has requested pancakes.  But we have no milk in the house.  So it is either a trip out to buy groceries, or a trip to a place where someone else can make the pancakes and serve them up.

Saturday morning greetings!  Richard and I went out for breakfast and were at one of the local funeral homes by 9:30 for their first annual "shred day."  They had a big recycling truck in the parking lot and were accepting up to 5 boxes per car for shredding.  The timing was perfect for our recent purge of the catch-all room.  We visited the post office and the public library and were home by 10:30.

I'm only sad that the days begin getting shorter tomorrow!  I've become more and more a summer person.  Well, spring and summer and fall.  They're all wonderful.  I'm definitely getting tired of winters!

We then took a walking tour of our neighborhood. It is the largest collection of surviving Victorian homes in the country - over 4 miles worth. We went to lunch at a restaurant we have not been to before.  It is at one of the local breweries that opened a second place on our end of town.  The food was tasty and the decor cute.  There are about 4,000 bear bottles on the wall.  We hope they are secure and never fall off the wall.  We might never have gone had we not been invited to me a friend from my book group and her husband.  I have met the husband multiple times & like him.  This was the first time Keith has met him.

bk, given the kerfuffle with the "Hands on a Hardbody" director, are you worried about future productions of your "Abner" and your changes to the libretto?

No, because the changes are all for the good, and were all made by the writers involved for the film version (I didn't move songs around from act to act or anything like that, and did less than most revivals do these days - I just did it right), and I would clear them before any major production.

Thanks.  The bandstand, shown in the article, is of historical interest.  It is just a big grassy area for people to sit and enjoy the band on summer evenings.  It is not an attractive area.  We find it mind boggling a story on the most beautiful parks would decide to use such an unattractive spot when the park is filled with beautiful photogenic locations.

Interior detail from NYC's original Metropolitan Opera House:

If the metropolitan opera closes then Disney will take it over and put one of their shows in it. :-(

It was torn down over 50 years ago.

Quelle embarrassing. I thought it was the current one. I've never been to an opera in NYC .

I have a question about posting

When someone deletes a post does the software make it say

"Post Deleted"

or are you just posting "Post Deleted" and if you are why?

So deleting a post doesn't lower the posting count
Title: Re: KRITZERLAND GOES EAST

Maybe "Post deleted" is one of those HHW-trademarked catchphrases like "Underpants" and "Will we never get to page 3?"

That too

I am very tired and must get some rest.  I'm going to a Second birthday party for Samantha's son, Dash.  He is his name dashing here and dashing there.  Both my brother and sister in law are sick, so mom and dad and I will be the extended family contingent.  It's about an hour and a half drive to Sam and Don's house, but it will be worth it the boys are very cute.  I'll take a photo or two

I went to a Sioux City Explorer's game tonight.  We were tied in the 8th and the ump didn't seem to think anything was a strike. So our manager went out and got in his face when the tie breaking run was a walk from loaded bases.  They were literally inches away from each other and he was doing some serious yelling. It was amusing, but I'd hate to have been the ump.  The ump didn't seem to mind, however, so maybe it was all show.

That was a scary article posted by DR GEORGE yesterday about a director in Houston who decided to do a show HIS own way.  And it sounds like he's been doing it for years.

At least somebody finally stepped in and made him stop.

You'd better hope they never find out about you cutting TCB's song from your G/D show!
