A local - to Greencastle where the theatre is - young man was killed yesterday when the backhoe he was driving on the family farm overturned. He was thrown from the cab, and the machinery landed on him.
Very sad - even sadder are the folks on Facebook who are making the accident all about their own feelings about the event.
You say Grenada, I say Granada... DR FJL could do wonders with this:
Man Sues British Airways... (http://time.com/2912187/man-sues-british-airways-for-sending-him-to-grenada-instead-of-granada/)
And the word of the day is: DROKE!
DR Ginny - so sorry to hear about the loss of your former colleague.
I am home from market, and I have an inquiry for any alcohol connoisseurs. I need to buy really fine bottle of something Eastern European or Russian. Any recommendations for a really good vodka, slivovitz or something I might not even know about?
I know very little, actually.

Why not a bottle of that stuff Elliott Templeton was raving about in front of Sophie in "The Razor's Edge":
"Żubrówka [ʐuˈbrufka] ( listen), also known in English as Bison Grass Vodka, is a dry, herb-flavored vodka that is distilled from rye and bottled at 40% alcohol by volume (80 proof). Its flavor is unique and is described as having woodruff, vanilla, coconut, and almond notes.
"The rye distillate is flavored with a tincture of bison grass (Hierochloe odorata), which also gives the spirit its yellowish color. This grass grows in the Białowieża Forest and elsewhere. A blade of bison grass is traditionally placed in each bottle of Żubrówka, though this is largely decorative."

You must like watching paint dry.
Hope your dental adventures are progressing without problems.
My tooth extraction last week has altered the way I eat for a while. I now chew on the right side and I place things in my mouth with a fork or spoon or my fingers (when I break up large pieces of food) instead of just biting. No sandwiches or burgers or other kinds of food that I would usually just bite and chew. I have to cut things into smaller pieces so I don't use the extraction site to bite and chew. That would cause undue pressure on the site and possibly harm the "wound". I've been eating jello, yogurt, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes and other softer foods while I wean myself back to regular food. The tooth was in the front, not either of the front teeth but one next to the front and I have to be careful of how I eat and chew while the extraction site heals (2 to 3 months). Once it's healed over the dentist will continue with work on a bridge (no implant). Until then I will have two other teeth repaired.
Ack! Ack!
Went to my dentist yesterday because one of my crowns came off.
She looked at it and said, "The build-up broke! That's not supposed to happen!"
My dentist doesn't do endodontics. This crown was placed on a build-up another dentist had done along with a root canal back in 2007 (she had referred me to this endodontist). She got on the phone with his office and told them what happened.
I have an appointment this afternoon at that office for a continuation of "Why did this crown come off and why didn't the build-up hold?"
Sigh.

After seeing a Facebook hint over the weekend, I received reliable confirmation this morning that my former co-worker Leon has passed away. He was the nonprofit outreach librarian with whom I started working in 2000 and who handed me that job when he retired in 2003. He was one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed in the Dayton community.

Late Happy Anniversary vibes for the parents of DR GEORGE.
Most of the things I dislike on FACEBOOK are the things that MR BK has talked about in the notes. It is sad that it has become and advertising behemoth so that we are bombarded with things to look at and like, etc.
I especially hate the posts that include a video or story and a headline that ends: You won't believe what happens next.... or ...Wait until you see this.... or ....You MUST watch this....
I also have a FEW friends who continually post HUGE pictures of themselves and talk in minute detail about themselves....and nothing else....or "check in" every place they go. Communication doesn't necessarily mean that I am interested in EVERY detail of your day.

Ginny, my condolences on the loss of your former co-worker.
There was a tornado in my area about an hour and a half ago.....but it was north of my town by about a mile....so we are okay....no injuries reported....but some roofs have been blown away and patio furniture has found new homes on front porches down the street. Of course the news has been pre-empting ALL regular programming since shortly after 2 p.m.

When the dentist received his E-ticket, didn't he notice a different spelling for Granada? Before i'd ever call for an airlines ticket, I'd go online and see what flights I was happiest with.
(for DR Jane - that is from the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota!) :)

I'm just waiting for the next batch:
What kind of roadkill are you?
What disease are you?
And, of course - What kind of idiot are you to keep clicking these moronic posts?
DR George when you mentioned dessert at your sister's house I wondered if anyone would be eating it.

DR Ginny, my condolences on the loss of your former co-worker. It sounds like you were very lucky to have Leon in your professional life.
DR Jennifer it seems a bit early to be celebrating with fireworks. Was yesterday declared your official Canada Day?
Now, what few know is that Michael and his wife were friends of truman Capote, and they gave Harper Lee in 1956 an income for a year to write To Kill A Mockingbird, and for that alone he deserves sainthood.
Cherries were cheap at the market today. I couldn't resist. The first ones are never quite ripe, but any is better than nothing in my book.

Thank you, DR Jane. We didn't always see eye to eye, but my career would have been far less interesting without him. It was Leon who recommended the (then) Comfort Inn on 46th St. in NYC to me.

No those fireworks are on Canada Day next Tuesday. Last night's were for today's holiday, St. Jean Baptiste Day (Quebec Day).
I guess that story that went viral on Facebook about the little girl asked to leave KFC because other customers were bothered by her face, which was scarred thanks to a pit bull attack is - guess what - completely bogus and a hoax. Furthermore, what everyone failed to point out was that the pit bulls were owned by her grandfather. KFC was threatened, spat upon and harangued by one and all - they apologized even though something smelled fishy about it, and also pledged 30K for the girls' surgeries. They investigated (outside investigator), and it's a hoax - the family were never at the KFC as they said. How much more of this crap will happen on Facebook? I suppose now that in this country we're all guilty until proven innocent - that's sure the way this went down. And it's certainly the way I've personally been treated for the last two months, so I get it. But KFC is still giving the family the money - but I don't see all the little rush to judgment people posting that they're sorry they rushed to judgement and did all that lambasting. No, they just disappear into the good night. Blechhh.
What is the hotel now? I didn't realize the Comfort Inn was no longer there.
Oh, and the rates have gone up...

Today is my dad's 86th birthday. They didn't do much to celebrate now because of Mom's dental problems. But they plan on going out this weekend.(http://www.greetingcarduniverse.com/images/csphoto/1107/00/00/13/13/74/137917_TN_shadow.png)

What, truly, are these people thinking when they do stuff like this?

Speaking of FB.....
Bruce, how do you know Wendy Temple?
I sadly learned, from FB, today that one of my all time favorite teachers passed away last year. He was Jerry Urfrig at Palms Jr. High. I went to school with his sister Wendy Urfrig Temple. Did you know her from Hami?
