Well, you've read the notes, the notes were comped, and now it is time for you to post until the comped cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GULOSITY!
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Looks like I forgot to log out last night before I dozed off watching THE ROOSEVELTS - sorry. Think we're still a little jet-lagged - waking up early and going to sleep early. Maybe a nap this afternoon will help...
-
Hello I must be going
-
I was sure today was Friday. It just seemed like it ought to be. At least it's Wednesday-- right? :-\
-
Morning, all! Sorry about the errantness & truancy.
-
Good morning. I spent the last few days visiting with a certain merchandise manager for a touring show.
Or as I told people, "I am going to Las Vegas to meet a man I met on the internet."
-
I picked up our truant Jason in Las Vegas the morning after the show ended, and we visited the Grand Canyon on his travel day. I got him to town several hours before the start of the show here in town.
-
Good morning, all! Today's plans today have fallen apart completely. I went to bed at 9:30, and i was still wide awake at 2:45 this morning. Around 1:00am, i started reading the Richard Rodgers letters to Dorothy about the rehearsals for Chee-Chee. which put a lie to the John McGlinn theory published in Kimball's Complete Lyrics of Lorenz Hart that "Dear Oh Dear" replaced the secondary couple's "If I Were Your Concubine."
At some time after 3, I finally fell asleep. I must make a trip to the post office today, but i will not be going to Toyland. I guess that will happen tomorrow.
As for me, I am very sleepy and completely puzzled by last night's sleep problem.
-

Or as I told people, "I am going to Las Vegas to meet a man I met on the internet."
LOL, DR Laura! I've met the same man in Dayton and Cincinnati...
-
Only slept three hours and can't seem to fall back asleep. I'll try in an hour or so. Part of the problem was a raging headache last night, which stemmed from comping the vocals - as I said, it's fun but painstaking and intense.
-
DR Jane
DR Jennifer do you make S'mores in Canada?
People do make them here. Although I personally have never made one. I don't love graham cracker cookies.
-
Good morning, all.
Happy hump day and vibes for all.
-
I read BK's post yesterday about comping as "I spent the evening camping" :)
-
And the word of the day is: GULOSITY!
And The Song Of The Day Is: MONEY

TOD:
THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS

LOL DR GINNY and DR LAURA....
That man is here again.

I loved DR GINNY's rotogravures of France, Europe.

This cracked me up! :D
-
We begin our second week tonight.....four more performances!
TOD:
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman
Attack of the Puppet People
The Amazing Colossal Man/War of the Colossal Beast
Godzilla
Them
And many more......
-
Wednesday is usually ASK BK Day....so I will ask.....when you were playing Banjo, what did you do to keep your energy up for the first two acts....when you had NOTHING to do.....
-
Good Morning All!
Have a great day! Not much sleep last night, but that's normal these days :)
-
I loved DR GINNY's rotogravures of France, Europe.
Thank you, DR JRand! I have been remiss in commenting on your recent theatrical endeavor, but I've enjoyed our photos and comments about portraying Banjo.
-
DR BwayAnge, I did not know about CreateTV - looks great! Alas, my local cable provider does not carry it. >:(

TOD:
I do not think that I have ever seen a monster movie from the 50's on...

A late good morning, all.
Needed some extra sleep this morning, and eventually got it.
Coffee!

TOD:
Too many to even TRY to name! :)

From DR Cilla:
I'm doing better today. I worked all day on a brief for an immigration case. The brief would have had to be express mailed today, but around 3:00 pm I learned that the case had been continued until 2016. Now it's not due for 2 year
Did you request an extension or does immigration control this & notify you?
-
LOL Bway, glad you enjoyed the photo.

DR Jane
DR Jennifer do you make S'mores in Canada?
People do make them here. Although I personally have never made one. I don't love graham cracker cookies.
I like S'mores but prefer just a toasted marshmallow. I also enjoy graham crackers very much.
-
Up again - somehow I guess I got six hours of sleep.
-
I guess I was so tired last night I forgot it was Ask BK Day.
-
Jrand - I don't remember the first time I did Banjo in 1966, but I was young and probably just hung out and joked during the first two acts and two intermissions. The second time I did it, in the late 70s or early 80s, I didn't even show up to the theater until after act one. I spent act two getting in make-up and costume and was ready for act three.
-
I guess I'm depraved on accounta I'm deprived.
Note: He doesn't say what it is "of which" he is deprived.
-
:D
I read BK's post yesterday about comping as "I spent the evening camping" :)
The mind boggles at the improbability of that.
-
I like S'mores
Many people do not realize that in the original draft, Oliver Twist said "Please, sir, I want s'mores!"
-
Note: He doesn't say what it is "of which" he is deprived.
See post #25...
:)
-
It's a big laundry day here!
-
I just knew that you would all want to know this very essential fact.
-
I wish my call could be later.....but that is very interesting MR BK. I don't put on part of my costume or makeup until toward the end of Act Two. I get my microphone during intermission, so then I finish dressing.....
-
Happy (for some of us Hot) Hump Day, all!
I think I'd have more to say if this heat would ease up. My favorite status today on Facebook came form Janet Miller - "When Theatricals use the term, 'Hell Week,' we do not expect the weather to follow suit."
Off to a fitting. Really. For Ragtime. And I'm not "claiming I'm fat". Maybe a little bloated? :D
-
I've just come to the conclusion that today is Wednesday in Oakland CA.
Am hoping it is Wednesday where all of you are, as well.
-
Lest you wonder about this day thing I do, it's because I'm aware of the slippage of time.
-
I'm just browsing through time, these days...but it's nice to be able to pinpoint the exact date and day of each week as I'm experiencing it.
-
I'm on a roll, apparently...
-
I cannot tell whether it's merely sourdough or whether it might be an onion roll, as well.
-
How inane, you say?
-
Bwah-ha-ha!
-
Under no circumstances must I deviate from my course.
-
Straight on into evening before I say Good Night.
-
Only to rise with the dawn.
-
And my ultimate destination is this:
-
Page 3.
You're welcome.
-
Like sands through the hourglass...
-
...so are the days of our lives.
-
;D
-
Back from lunch - a turkey sandwich and a cup of soup - banking, and just spent an hour getting the MD all his music for the October show, so that's all done now.
-
As it turns out, we're going to do some more comping this evening so that Monday's final comp session will be much easier. We'll do four tonight and five on Monday.
-
That sounds more manageable. And less headache-inducing. :)
-
Looks like My Fair Lady will get the 50th anniversary Blu-ray treatment on December 9th.

Bruce: Regarding this reissue of "MFL" on Blu ray....I've read some posts at HTF that suggest Robert Harris supervised this one, but I've seen nothing that corroborates that.
Do you know?

Nope, they just changed it. The government attorney clearly didn't know as he sent his exhibits and I received them today. I have had this happen before so I called before sending. The judge's clerk called this morning to let me know. My case isn't high priority so it can be bumped

I decided to take the afternoon off since I'm finally in a position to do that.
-
I talked to Myrna today to tell her I'm getting her a parking pass (they are sticklers about parking downtown) she said she's excited to work with me. I put a welcome to her in my ad in the Spanish language paper. I don't think she'll mind.
-
I have a box of hair dye upstairs and I'm thinking about using it
-
Just covers the gray, but it may perk me up a bit
-
Actually having a good day. I bought a ticket to the Mythbusters live show in December here in SC
-
It looks like there are a lot of tickets left. That surprised me a bit, but then I'm pretty nerdy
-
Tomorrow Robert Irvine Live goes on sale. The VIP includes a 2 hour cooking seminar with him. I don't know how many there are, but if I can get one of them I will. I think that would be worth paying for.
-
It isn't until March so I can't imagine that there will be a ton of people trying to get the tickets, but you never know
-
I really can't wait for that one. I just wish he'd do Restaurant Impossible at the Green Gables. It was one of Eppie and Popo's (Ann Landers and Abigail VanBuren) favorite places when they were growing up. It's also one of my mom's favorite places but it just recently closed. I'm not sure he goes to places that are closed. The other restaurant in town that made it to the final cut for the show...got cut.
-
I did hear he was looking for restaurants in this area of the country for the show. Who knows....maybe somewhere nearby will get lucky
-

Hmmm Dinner....what to make for dinner....
-
I'm trying to get us off this page
-
Got up to 81 today. Feels hot.
-
Has anyone here ever met someone named Odile? I haven't
-
Tonight is band rehearsal. Looking forward to it, even if I do sit between two music teachers who have never heard of a ton of standards and musicals. I still don't get how you become a music teacher/director without being exposed to musical theater or standards
-
Did I mention this is page 4?
-
Ta Da!!!!
-
Has anyone here ever met someone named Odile? I haven't
Odile is the wicked daughter of the sorceror Von Rothbart in Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake. She is played by the prima ballerina who also plays Odette, the Swan Queen.
-
I've just come to the conclusion that today is Wednesday in Oakland CA.
Am hoping it is Wednesday where all of you are, as well.
Yes it is and I should have joined my Wednesday hiking group. They went on my favorite hike on Mt. Ashland and to Echo & Sherlock's spot. I decided my hip was not up to it.
I still go for an easy walk in the park and was able to go farther than I managed on Sunday.

Just for DR Jane:
A cutie thanks. It looks familiar, did you get it off of FB?
-
Just covers the gray, but it may perk me up a bit
Hmmm, I'm finally getting enough grey to be noticeable. What just covers the grey?

I didn't know that

Oh it's just a temporary color. Not sure which one, I just noticed the box up there when I was looking for something last night. I used to color my hair a lot but haven't done that in a long time. Thought it might be a fun change
-
It's going to be summer again on Friday and Saturday? Why?
-
did you get it off of FB?
Yes, but it was just posted today - a client in my vet's office.
Then probably not someone I know ;D
-
Guess I better find something to eat and get ready for band. My avatar makes me hungry for bananas

It is hard to find a temp color in a store, at least it has been for me. Something that just got the grey out would be interesting to try, if it exists.

TOP banana! ;D

We had like a two second power outage here. Everything came right back up instantly except, of course, the computer, the router and the modem. Got the computer started again, but Time Warner naturally was unable to handle a two second power outage and seemingly with never a back-up plan available, went down for an hour. It just came back up.
-
I guess it's a good thing you weren't in the midst of comping, then. :P

Never mind. I found the thread where he indicates he has been slaving over it and that we will be astonished.
Cannot wait!
-
we will be astonished.
Golly. That's me pretty much all the time!
-
Good evening!
-
We have been busy sorting through clothing to donate to the town of Weed, CA, just an hour away from us. The town has suffered from a large fire which included the loss of 150 structures, mostly homes. A lumber mill, and largest employer, is pretty damaged. The library is gone, a Catholic church and part of the elementary school.
I'm very impressed with the quick response in Southern California to help them. After sorting clothes, shoes and a few other things I have read they don't really need clothes anymore. Now I have to rethink what to take. We have two large suit cases in the garage they should want. I need to clean them up and double check they work.
I usually have a stock pile of unopened toiletries, not today.
-
Page four? Really?
-
Good morning. I spent the last few days visiting with a certain merchandise manager for a touring show.
Or as I told people, "I am going to Las Vegas to meet a man I met on the internet."
I am sure that is all over the church by now!

We are singing a song about sparrows for the Blessing of the Animals in two week's time.

Hmmm, I'm finally getting enough grey to be noticeable. What just covers the grey?
yes, I seem to be getting one or two grey hairs myself but I am confident it is not really noticeable yet
-
Hmmm Dinner....what to make for dinner....
reservations...
-
tonight The Vixter and I took my parents to dinner where we had a lovely steak dinner with broiled shrimp appetizer

Dinner was so long ago that this food talk is making me hungry again.
-
Perhaps I will defrost one of the Bays english muffins from the pack that I bought in honor of the death of Elaine Stritch (her husband was Mr. Bay).
-
Yea, that's the ticket.
-
Can ya tell I'm vamping, here?
-
There isn't enough vamping in the world that can take us from here to Page 6.
-
Not even from Hard-Hearted Hannah, the Vamp of Savannah.
-
Or was she a tramp, instead of a vamp?
-
I can never remember.
-
then we went back to my parent's house where both my brothers were - my brother from Massachusetts apparently is in town for business and came to stay with my parents and my other brother found out and came to visit him so we had a nice little visit with them
-
Come on, one Guest - join in the fun!
-
so we had a nice little visit with them
Did you talk of cabbages and kings?
-
and now we have just spent the last 2 hours on the phone with AT & T trying to determine why our cell phone bill blossomed from an average of $160 to $508
-
we have had no satisfaction but we have been given the promise of a return call tomorrow with a solution
-
we shall see
-
so we had a nice little visit with them
Did you talk of cabbages and kings?
no, mostly we chatted about shoes and ships and sealing wax

The Hill Country looks like this in the spring in certain areas.
-
Or was she a tramp, instead of a vamp?
Reminds me of the old Sonny and Cher routine: She was a scamp, a camp and a bit of tramp. She was a V-A-M-P vamp."
-
I didn't know Cher was from Savannah!
-
I keep thinking that BK is busy giving away free tickets
-
Has anyone here ever met someone named Odile? I haven't
Odile is the wicked daughter of the sorceror Von Rothbart in Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake. She is played by the prima ballerina who also plays Odette, the Swan Queen.
And her cousin Ottillie was Diahann Carroll's name in the musical, "House of Flowers."
-
Watching the TV version of The Mikado with Groucho Marx. Robert Rounseville is Nanki-Poo. It's fun, but not great. Groucho's singing is less than you'd expect, but the comedy is more. He had surprising rapport with Helen Traubel as Katasha

Today at work, we had our annual All Staff Training Day. We had a key note speaker and we each had to pick three break-out sessions. I went to the room for my first session but I didn't realize that they moved some of the sessions to different rooms and what I went to was not what I had signed up for. Oh, well. It's not as if they were taking specific attendance for each session. ;)
-
It was really good, anyway. The author, Jennie Shortridge (http://www.jennieshortridge.com/), spoke about her books (of course), and her mother's mental illness. One of her books, "Riding With the Queen," is sort of based on her situation, but it wasn't exactly autobiographical...it was highly fictionalized, but it was almost inspired by her life.
-
The second session was about what else to suggest that people read if they like a certain author or style or genre. It was also very good, but since I don't work with the public, it wasn't very useful to me.
-
I didn't go to the third session that I signed up for, but what I did go to was where employees gave a five-minute speech with a power-point presentation (they were limited to 20 slides) about what they're passionate about, and it didn't need to be work related. They were all good. One co-worker talked about the children's theater that she's been involved with and another talked about her having epilepsy. They were all upbeat and short. It was a good ASTD day.
-
We had raffle prizes. My ticket didn't actually win, but the woman sitting next to me gave me her ticket right after they announced her numbers! She didn't really want it, so I got it. It was a brown fleece blanket with fake fur on the back side. It also has a log cabin embroidered on one corner. It's really nice.
-
When I left the ASTD, I went to my parents' house because it turns out that I gave my dad a movie on a burned DVD-R that didn't work. So, I got it back and will either re-burn the copy that I kept for myself or just buy it for him. It's not too expensive.
-
After I left my parents' house, I went to the Costco by their house to see if they had either kitty treats or Barbra's "Partners" album. They had neither. I went to the Lacey Target store and I bought the special edition CD from there. The Lacey Target is right next to Kohl's so I decided (remembered, actually) to see if they had any pillows that I might like.
-
As I was walking from Target to Kohl's, I saw my mom and her friend Mona walking out of Kohl's. What a coinkydink! She asked what I was doing there and I told her I was going to look at pillows.
-
It turned out that she had a reusable 30% off coupon, but she had to pay for whatever it was used for. So, I quickly went upstairs to the pillow section and found something that I hope will like.
-
I actually got two because they were having a 50% off sale (buy-one-get-one-free)! AND the coupon was another 30% off that. So, instead of paying $140, the two pillows only cost me $51 and change! I saved about $91!
-
I bought two because if I like one (I only need one at a time), then I'll have another one when the first one gets too old. If I don't really like it, I can still take back one because I won't have used it at all. I have to let the one I do try air out before I use it, so I probably won't try to sleep on it until the weekend when I don't have to get up early if I can't get to sleep easily.
-
And now I'm home, and have been for several hours.
-
I watched last night's "America's Got Talent" and was going to watch tonight's FINAL episode, but tonight's broadcast was completely pixilated and completely crappy! WTF??
-
If I'd thought about it, I could've recorded the non-high-def channel (channel 5 instead of 105), but I was watching last night's episode as tonight's was recording.
-
Anyway, it'll be on OnDemand tomorrow, so I can watch it then. I did accidentally find out who won, though, so that won't be a surprise. :P
-
I've been watching "Ender's Game." I actually liked the movie. Very interesting and well done, I thought.
-
I recorded tonight's premiere episode of "The Mysteries of Laura," starring the new Lucille Ball, Debra Messing.
;)
-
I'll have to watch it later.
-
It's raining and has been since I got home! I wonder how long it'll last.
-
And since we're so close...

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!

DR BwayAnge, I did not know about CreateTV - looks great! Alas, my local cable provider does not carry it. >:(

Tomorrow Robert Irvine Live goes on sale. The VIP includes a 2 hour cooking seminar with him. I don't know how many there are, but if I can get one of them I will. I think that would be worth paying for.
Fingers crossed! :D

Well, I finally turned into my Father's daughter -- can gush over a ripe heirloom tomato & will immediately fall asleep once landing in a recliner!

and now we have just spent the last 2 hours on the phone with AT & T trying to determine why our cell phone bill blossomed from an average of $160 to $508
On my, I would have had a heart attack. I've been very happy with T-mobile -- $50 a month for an everything unlimited plan. Have had the service for over five years.

Or was she a tramp, instead of a vamp?
Reminds me of the old Sonny and Cher routine: She was a scamp, a camp and a bit of tramp. She was a V-A-M-P vamp."
So very funny! :)

What can I say, Minions make me smile
Me too! :D

I actually got two because they were having a 50% off sale (buy-one-get-one-free)! AND the coupon was another 30% off that. So, instead of paying $140, the two pillows only cost me $51 and change! I saved about $91!
What a bargain! :)

Had a busy day at the office, but am loving every minute of it!
Today was my dear nephew's 26th birthday -- Tyler always be my little Cow Poke!
-
BwayAnge, a very happy birthday to your little Cow Poke, Tyler!

Back from comping session two - only did three songs, one of which took most of the time - it was funny to me - the song, when you hear it, seems like it would be really easy to sing, but it is deceptively hard - point being, I wrote it for me to sing in a musical of mine and it sits in my voice perfectly. But a woman's voice is something wholly other so this one wasn't easy for Sandy - but we got it great and it was worth being painstaking with it. The other two went fairly quickly.

So, five more to do on Monday and that part is done.

BwayAnge, a very happy birthday to your little Cow Poke, Tyler!
Thanks! Tyler (and his friends) are a shining star from the younger generation. Very kind and caring -- mentors an even younger generation at via his church's skate park. After their weekly fellowship, part of the parking lot turns into a mini-skate park.
Tyler's regular job is in the marketing department for the local budweiser distributor. Plus, he plays bass guitar in a band called "Heralds of the Sword" -- it's more like a rock opera. He and his band mates have created this world ala Lord of the Rings meets Robin Hood meets Trans Sibera Orchestra. Check out their website: www.heraldsofthesword.com
The keyboard player's Mom and I go to all their shows, wearing ear plugs, of course. They have even played the Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood three times.
BTW, Tyler is in Blue, on the end to the right.
