Well, you've read the notes, the notes were an ordeal and had an extraction, and now it is time for you to post until the extracted cows come home.

Good morning, all!

I slept late, until 7:30 or so, then I had to deal with several important emails. I had to call Fed Ex to get answers to questions about shipment. I will shortly walk over to the local Fed Ex office and pick up some shipping supplies.

Beyond that, it's a day of Paint Your Wagon and some housework.  I need to vacuum really badly.

I've been pondering the 1953 disappearance of Ron Tammen for Halloween:
http://www.miamialum.org/s/916/interior-3-col.aspx?pgid=417&gid=1

His dormitory, the frightening Fisher Hall, by 1966 was the home for the theatre dept. It had been in the 1860s a finishing school for young ladies, then an asylum for the mentally challenged before the university took it on as a dormitory. The building was very haunted, and everyone who worked there regularly had stories of strange happenings.

I think the ghosts are messing with your photos DR ELMORE.....but that's a creepy story.

On Halloween, 1968, the Miami University theatre group held a seance at Fisher Hall. My mother put an ad in the Middletown Journal for a medium, and the story got picked up by Associated Press and went nationwide.

The medium never met my mother, only spoke to her on the telephone, yet she knew me when she arrived at Fisher Hall. The place was packed for the seance, and she went into a trance. My memory is vague now, but my memory is that she mentioned there were ropes and knives involved in Tammen's disappearance, that he was lured to the formal gardens late at night, killed there and dismembered and then carried back into Fisher Hall in luggage and burned in the incinerator.

The medium also claimed that several of the perpetrators were influentially placed, which is why the disappearance was never solved. At the time, I remember reading some material about Tammen's disappearance, but no one's ever going to know what actually happened.

Everyone in the theatre dept. had a story about Fisher Hall; it was most definitely haunted, and the lawn between it and the formal gardens was equally unsettling.  I remember one summer night sitting on the Fisher Hall porch facing the formal gardens during a performance; it was unsettling and the hair on my head stood up. I was aware that someone I could vaguely make out stood and watched me from a tree closest to the porch. Whatever it was seemed old, like several centuries old. It was really unnerving.

I'm up - fell asleep around two and got up at nine-thirty, then fell asleep until eleven, so over eight hours.  I think I pinched or pulled something when the procedure was being done, probably from clenching myself so hard, because I have a pain around my shoulder blades - either that or I slept wrong, but it's VERY irritating and I'm a little over this crap right now - one thing is more than enough.  I'll take my pill, two aspirin for my head (still a bit of pain from the extraction) and then go have an omelet.

Almost time for me to be heading out to the final dress rehearsal.

The theaters up in that part of the state are weird -- their final dress is on Thursday, but do they open on Friday?  No.  Nothing happens on Friday.  They open on Saturday.

Anyhoo.  Whatever.  Hello, I must be going, or something.

If you would finish painting your wagon, you could get it out of your apartment and have more room for everything else.

I've never had trick-or-treaters in the 29 years I've lived in my condo.

Thursday morning greetings!  The only thing on my calendar today is Trick or Treat, which takes place in our community from 5-7pm.  I have some kitchen work to do and a lot of desk work.

Why do you have Trick or Treat today?

Trick or treaters?  Aren't they a day early?

Yes, but high school football is a big deal here on Friday nights and we can't compete with that.

Goodness, shaking my head here ;D

I agree that seems crazy. Why not do it Saturday if they cannot do it Friday?

It is so weird. My mom is out of the country.  And her friend called me today to ask what time I was going to bring my bike over for him to put the license on.  Only I never called him.  But I did mention it to my mom this morning.  This is the second thing like this that has happened.  She knew something happened to my niece before I did too.

Probably because afterwards is anti-climactic.

That is a creepy story.

35, including a little purple butterfly.

That's great, Ginny!  I've gone to my sister's for the last several years, and she never gets anyone.  Whenever I've been home, I do keep my porch light off, because I don't want any kids begging for treats.

;)

My street is pretty dark and is two blocks from one of the busiest trick or treat streets in town.  So no one comes down here.  After two or three years of one or two people coming to the door, I leave the light off and walk down to Jackson street and see all the fun costumes.

Callie threw up in the night and every time she ate yesterday and today.  So it was off to the vet for our appointment today.  Poor thing was very constipated.  The vet took x-rays since she didn't have a temp and seemed pretty well otherwise.  It was fascinating to look at them.

You can clearly see that she had a crushed pelvis at some time in her life that went untreated and fused together in a way that makes the opening for her to poop very small.  The vet said it looks like she may have been hit by a car.  I told her that I adopted her at 6 months old and she said that made sense as if she was very young when it happened the bones would heal very quickly.

So, this is why she needs the meds three times a day.   She had an enema and I told the vet I wanted to bring her home for the night.  She said if she didn't go poop she'd have to go back in the morning to get another.  I told her that all the way home and miracle of miracles she went.  Woo Hoo time to do the poopy dance.

Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on her.  Hopefully she's doing her business.

The best news is that we did blood tests and her calcium level is no longer high.  It's been high all her life. I was shocked that it was normal.  So...she's a very healthy cat, just needs her softeners every day.

Did your mother email your friend?

Was the something that happened to your niece awhile ago?

Thanks Jane.  It's excellent news, but seeing the extent of Callie's crushed pelvis really concerns me.  I know she's lived around 12 years that way, but I now know I really CAN'T leave her or have her not get her medicine.  And she really doesn't want anyone but me to pick her up. I guess she scratched up the vet tech who tried to pick her up.   The vet had me get her out of the cage to take her home.   So.....guess I'll be staying home for the foreseeable future.  but, I really don't mind.

I'm sure the crushed pelvis is upsetting.  It is a shame she is also difficult to medicate.

That reminds me, how is your cat sitter doing?

She's very easy for me to medicate.  She just laps it up, she just doesn't let anyone else do that.

Her pelvis was crushed and she had healed before I adopted her but I didn't know that at the time. She was only 6 months when I adopted her, so it's upsetting, but only in terms of knowing she really does need her medicine.  I was considering trying to skip a day now and then so I could go on vacation, but that's not going to happen.  I do have a cat sitter I can try.  I may take her with me for the holiday. She can stay in my room if she doesn't get along with the other cats

Well, it's time for me to leave work and go home.  It's raining, but I like the rain.  Tonight is the only night this week were I don't have to go somewhere, so I'll just stay home and watch TV...maybe do some laundry.

Until later!

Back from an organ recital at the Cathedral. It's only a 5+ minute walk from my home.

It seats approximately 3,500, and it was pretty full! The organ is gigantic and fills the vast space with a heck of a lot of sound. The organist liked to use all of the loudest stops, so it kept everyone awake.      :)

Rehearsal was really fun - certain folks will really need to cram by Saturday in terms of lyrics, but they know that.  It was a longer rehearsal because we had two people who weren't there on Monday.
