Well, you've read the notes, the notes said farewell and hello, and now it is time for you to post until the incoming cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: PREBUTTAL!
-
DR Cillaliz - these haiku aren't original, but I find them most amusing:

Happy happy, everyone!

Morning all.
That is all.
-
Good morning, all!
Goodbye, 2014!
While I can not only hope and pray that 2015 is a better year for me, I can thank HHW for several dear, generous friends without whom I could not have survived the last year. I mention no names, but I send much love and gratitude to BK and others for their support and kindness.
May 2015 be good to all of you and those you love.

This morning, I will stop at my pharmacy before I head down to City Center and work with Joshie until 1:30, when CityCenter closes. At that point, i am running for a bus since the advisory is that after 2:00pm buses will slow down and all hell will break loose as the City buckles down for the New Year's Eve madness.
On my way home I need to stop at a large market, and once i'm home, I hope not to leave the apartment until Friday morning. I will sleep late tmorrow and spend the day with a Jerome Moross score.
-
Happy New Year, everybody!
-
Bruce-- give Jason a hug from me. And thanks for posting the lovely photo of Luise Rainer.
-
It's December the 31st!
-
Good morning, all.
So, am I seeing the old year out with a cold, or am I seeing the new year in with one? I'm pretty sure the majority of the cold will be shown to have existed on this side of the line, so I shall go with the former. The 2015 portion will be all recovery.
-
More feel-good vibes for Chas!
-
CNN is certainly promoting the Anderson Cooper-Kathy Griffin New Year's Eve program a lot.

And if you gamble afterwards don't play craps.

Good morning to all

I don't like New Year's Eve.
When I was a kid I was on a ocean liner with my older sister on my way to Athens to meet our parents when a tidal wave swamped the ship and we turned over. Only six of us survived. What I learned from this don't be an extra or bit player in life you have a better chance of living.

New Year's Eve morning greetings! I am slowly getting myself together to go to the grocery. Richard and I are planning to see WILD at 4pm and be home before the crazies start celebrating.
-
Spending the last day of 2014 doing what I've been doing all year.
I got out my new calendars, and they will be put up soon after midnight.
-
Lovely photo of Miss Luise Rainer.....MR BK why didn't you get an autograph from Van Johnson?
-
Good morning. Tonight is the annual soup party at the church. So I've got some soup to make.
-
I'm up, I'm up - could have slept till noon, but alas.
-
I think Mr. Johnson came in at the very end of a day.
-
Ah.....that's a good reason.
-
CNN is certainly promoting the Anderson Cooper-Kathy Griffin New Year's Eve program a lot.
I'm recording it. I don't know if I'll be home in time to watch all of it live (I'm going out with the family to a local restaurant), but I will definitely watch it! :D

Page one? Really?

This is a way to send out 2014?

Had a really easy work session and all is done and well.

Hello page 2!

Then I found out we'd won something called The Gold Bonus Disc Award from The Second Disc website (a terrific website, by the way) for our soundtrack release of It's a Wonderful Life. I had no idea they even gave awards so I went back and looked at previous years and what did I find? In 2013 we won the award for cast album reissue, A Time for Singing. In 2012 we won the same award for the Follies remix and reissue. And in 2011, the first year the awards were given, we won in both cast album AND soundtrack categories for Gone With the Wind and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Who knew??? http://theseconddisc.com/2014/12/30/the-year-in-reissues-the-2014-gold-bonus-disc-awards/

You never got any actual statues?? Well, what good is an award if you don't get a statue?
;)
-
But Congrats, BK and to Kritzerland!

A Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year to all our HHW READERS!!! :-* :-* :-*

Well, now yu know!
And it's really fantastic, BK! What a nice surprise to close 2014.
-
And as soon as I posted that, my internet again dropped out, I need a new computer, I believe, and I hope I can afford one soon.
-
I left City center around 1:30, caught a bus, got to market, and my 2014 errands are accomplished. i'm not leaving the apartment until 2015.
This morning, I finally saw the young lady above me. We talked about the dog. She was sympathetic, but I honestly doubt she'll do anything about it.

My thoughts exactly....how old were you?
-
Happy New Years Eve Day.... Is there such a thing as an eve day?
-
I think Mike needs to come back and tell us a story.
-
Thanks for the haiku site. Haikus are pretty easy to come up with, so I'll stick with original

New Year's Eve morning greetings! I am slowly getting myself together to go to the grocery. Richard and I are planning to see WILD at 4pm and be home before the crazies start celebrating.
The locals I know who have seen the movie said it was ok. For them the book was better or it was about the same. They all thought Laura Dern was wonderful. None of them were thrilled with the way Ashland looked.

BK, Was Don Knotts a Serious guy off screen?
I only spent a couple of days with him and Tim Conway on Apple Dumpling Gang and they were anything but serious, even off camera. They were both personable and funny and charming.
-
Back from soup and a sandwich and picking up a couple of packages and thankfully no irritating mail.
-
Not only are there no statues, there aren't even any certificates.
-
I don't think I'll stay long at the party, although that could change, I suppose. I'm really not in the mood to go to a party that doesn't even start until 8:00 pm but I made such a to do about the flute that I really better go for a while.
-
Not only are there no statues, there aren't even any certificates.
Heck, an email would have been better than nothing ;) Congrats
-
So according to the post office in the town where my grand nephew lives, the package was delivered to the address his mom gave me over a week ago and as of this morning it's still sitting on the porch of that address. So I called and texted his mom, no response. I texted my nephew, no response. I may have to call the mail carrier back on Friday and ask her to return it. She said I should call and tell them what I want them to do. This makes no sense to me at all
-
She texted me the address, so I know I sent it there, but from what I'm hearing from the postal carrier, it sounds like it's not where she lives. That confuses me even more
-
So far I've called and left her a message and texted twice, I'm tempted to post on her facebook that his present has been sitting at the address she gave me for a week.....please go get it. I'll give her until tonight to get back to me
-
I'm sure she never expected me to call the post office there to ask about it

OMG, how did you survive? And your sister? I don't remember you ever mentioning this terrible experience.

A Happy, Healthy, and Blessed New Year to all our HHW READERS!!! :-* :-* :-*
Hi DR Kate, and the same to you.
-
Good afternoon, all.
And Happy New Year!
-
Great to see you, Kate. How is the post-flood life going in Buffalo?
-
Congratulations, BK, and thanks for posting the Louise Rainier photo.
-
I love to play pinochle. Never have much time for it, though.
-
Am off to usher a concert featuring some soprano named Patricia Raclette -- she sounds like a cheese dish. Then there's a party in the lobby until midnight or so. Should be a long one.

Didn't I see this in a movie with Shelly Winters and a theme song sung by Maureen McGovern?

In other news, my brother in law helped my mom clean out her refrigerators, freezer and some of her cupboards. They had 11 garbage bags full of expired stuff. Mom still doesn't believe that an expiration date means much, but at least it's done. That's a huge deal. I was going to drive up to help her Mom is so funny, my brother in law is about the only person she will let help her clean things out. This is a big start toward easing my concerns

This morning, I finally saw the young lady above me. We talked about the dog. She was sympathetic, but I honestly doubt she'll do anything about it.
I'm glad you were able to talk to her. Too bad she did offer options she is working on to improve the situation.
Have you met the dog? Craig got very lucky with a neighbor who made friends with Yogi and takes him into his place if Yogi howls, such as during a storm. It is easier now that Craig is done with school. Also Yogi settled down once he became used to his new home. Vibes the upstairs dog does the same!!!

She's a really big opera star: lesbian, sings a lot at the Met, we have several friends in common. I saw her, I think, in theMet premiere of AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY.
-
That's amazing about those awards. Congrats, both current and belated, to BK!
-
My oven is not working again. The damned stove has been out of cmmission more than it's used.
-
I think DR MIKE is telling us the story of the Poseidon Adventure as deduced by DR ELMORE.
-
We need photos from the Opera Do from DR JOHN G.
-
That is some tale of a package DR CILLA LIZ.....I think it should be a Sherlock Holmes story.
-
I will be staying home tonight, nursing this cold which finally made it down to my chest. Staying home is what I wanted to do, anyway. But I've been doing a lot of snoozing, so can't say if I'll be awake for much of the festivities.
-

I had a beautiful hike on my old trails today. My new shoes worked well on the snow & icy bits, though we stayed away from the more dangerous trails and I was very cautious.
-
It was 23 degrees but dry out and I had bundled up.
-
After the hike we went to one of the hikers home for a chili/cornbread gathering and toasted the NY with champagne. It was very nice. My new buttermilk cornbread recipe was a bit hit.
Keith and I didn't care for the vegetarian chili. It was more like a tasteless soup, but healthy.
Keith passed on the hike but met me at the party. :)
-
Just been doing some end of year stuff. Now I can just relax until our partay this evening.
-
I think DR MIKE is telling us the story of the Poseidon Adventure as deduced by DR ELMORE.
His story had everything but the bloodhounds biting his ass on the ice flows.
-
Tonight, the family was supposed to go to Budd Bay Café for our traditional annual new year's eve dinner, but my niece isn't feeling well, so we're all just going to meet at my sister's and have pizza! Sounds good to me. :D We'll also play games and listen to music. I'm sure that I'll be home long before midnight.
-
Well, I made an executive decision after hearing from my nephew. The art kit and doodle book weren't that expensive and were on sale on Amazon so I bought a slightly different art kit and a different doodle book and sent them to my nephew's house. Then Gabe will at least get one and maybe two - one at each parent's house. I think that's the best resolution and now I can forget about it. His mom is traveling, so that's why I haven't heard from her today

Did he mention climbing up the Christmas tree to get to the deck above the ball room?
-
Well, I did it...I bought a Samsung Galaxy S tablet! No more having to deal with a tablet battery that only lasts about 45 minutes and no more having to deal with a browser that takes practically minutes to load a page. It cost MUCH more than I planned to spend, but it's going to last me a very, very long time! At least, it had BETTER last me a very, very long time. ;D

I think that is the perfect resolution to the problem, and far less complicated than continuing to track it down.
-
From DR John:
And I stand by that. Doctor it with your own ingredients, like jalapenos or fresh corn or pimento. Or sausage
Maybe the fresh corn which I considered adding to my recipe but didn't. I had purchased a couple of Jiffy mixes, just in case this new recipe was bad. The mix calls for mix and I was going to substitute buttermilk vs using non fat milk that we keep in the house.
The recipe I used is incredibly easy.

Amazing, as soon as I sent a new art set and book to my nephew's address I got a text from Gabe's mom that the package was on their front steps when they got home. She thinks the post office is fibbing. They may be, as the mail carrier said something about a different address that isn't on the package. I don't know who to believe, but it doesn't matter. He has the package and will have another at his dad's when he gets there. All the better. He won't have to take one back and forth
-
Just watching a motion picture, and a very good one at that, and relaxing.
-
LOL......I was able to cancel the amazon order. All is right with the world and the case of the missing art set and doodle book has come to a successful close

Yeah, I feel bad about thinking that.
Well, as long as you didn't actually accuse her to her face, I think you're okay.
;)
-
;D George.
-
No I didn't accuse her or tell her I thought that she wasn't telling the truth. I told her what the post office said and to check and see. I told her about the second order and that it was cancelled and said I was just glad the box arrived. I forgot I stuck some locally roasted coffee in the box for her, so there was a treat for her too
-
All is right with the world.....well as far as art sets and doodle books go.
-
Now what can I write about
-
We are back from seeing WILD, which we enjoyed. The book is much richer, of course, but the film does it justice. Now I'm warming last night's tuna casserole for dinner. Rob has gone to work and Mary Linda's eating pizza and watching NCIS reruns with us. Another wild and crazy New Year's Eve on Poinciana Road!

I thought something bad about some relatives this past weekend that may or may not have been true...

For me:

Thank you. He would probably be embarrassed as he is happy at work and enjoys his pets, but he really needs his own classroom and a full time teaching job plus I need the nice girlfriend :)

Unless I can't sleep tonight and read my current book by midnight, which I hope doesn't happen, I have my number count for the year.
-
In 2013 I challenged myself to read 150 books and read 155 books.
In 2014 I challenged myself to read fewer books, only 140, and sleep more. I have read 146 books. I kind of succeeded.
-
I mentioned to Keith I felt as if I read longer books this year and wondered if I really had read all that much less than last year. Immediately Goodreads sent me a link for "stats" I had no idea existed.
The results are:
2013 56,288 pages
2014 55,646 pages
While I read 9 more books last year I have only read 642 fewer pages this year.

Before I read anymore of the notes!
I was kidding before. Sorry if I horrified people.
I was referencing the Poseidon Adventure. I thought for sure everyone would get the reference!!!

WHO WILL SURVIVE IN ONE OF THE GREATEST ESCPAE ADVENTURES EVER!!

Other than my gaffe to end off the year.
I did receive the the cd recording of Herringbone in today's mail.
I guess he sent me a hard copy instead of a digital download to compensate for the long delay, but I didn't get the autographed program which doesn't bother me.

Well, it's time for me to leave work for the last time this year! I'm off to my sister's for some new year's eve pizza! I plan to be home well before midnight (left coast time), so I'll be back!
Happy New Year's to the east coasters, since I won't be back by then!
-
Watching Live from Lincoln Center and recording it so I can switch to Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin at 9 pm.

In the Poseidon novel there are more survivors and they appear to have made it out more easily than the group in the film. ;)

I guess he sent me a hard copy instead of a digital download to compensate for the long delay, but I didn't get the autographed program which doesn't bother me.
Was the CD at least autographed? Mine was, and that was all that I was expecting.
Yes it was. Now I would like Skip Kennon and Ellen Fitzhugh to sign it as well. :-)

In the Poseidon novel there are more survivors and they appear to have made it out more easily than the group in the film. ;)
And the young boy doesn't in the novel.
-
Hi, everyone!
-
Well, work today was kind of a horror show, but now it is over and done.
-
I am exhausted, though.
-
I fear that I shall soon be asleep and miss all the festivities.
-
I am off to bed and to sleep.
I want to wish everyone a very healthy (very important) and happy new year.
All the best to everyone here on this board.
Thank you all
Peace
-
Finished one motion picture and will start another in a few minutes.
-
Let the festivities begin. I have removed last year's bottle of champagne and this year's bottle is waiting to have its cork popped. I've been waiting to have MY cork popped for all of 2014. So, out with the old, in with the new - it's a New Year's Eve tradition. I open a bottle of champagne, have one sip at midnight and then keep the bottle in the refrigerator for the entire year.
-
Hello, everyone.
I'd better wish everyone a GREAT 2015, because I haven't caught up on the posts yet and it may take me until 2015.
-
FOLKS
Before I read anymore of the notes!
I was kidding before. Sorry if I horrified people.
I was referencing the Poseidon Adventure. I thought for sure everyone would get the reference!!!
AT MIDNIGHT ON NEW YEAR"S EVE THE SS POSEIDON WAS STRUCK BY A 90 FOOT TIDAL WAVE AND CAPSIZED
WHO WILL SURVIVE IN ONE OF THE GREATEST ESCPAE ADVENTURES EVER!!
I'm sure many people here have never seen the Poseidon Adventure (like me). You scared us.
-
Unless I can't sleep tonight and read my current book by midnight, which I hope doesn't happen, I have my number count for the year.
Even though i didn't finish my current book I marked it as done. I like to start a new book on january 1st for my totals. So i will have to hurry to finish said book tomorrow.

I hope that 2015 is all that all DRs could want, with special emphasis on DRs Elmore and Mike.
-
I don't like New Year's Eve.
When I was a kid I was on a ocean liner with my older sister on my way to Athens to meet our parents when a tidal wave swamped the ship and we turned over. Only six of us survived. What I learned from this don't be an extra or bit player in life you have a better chance of living.
How horrible! Was your sister one of the survivors?
-
Then I found out we'd won something called The Gold Bonus Disc Award from The Second Disc website (a terrific website, by the way) for our soundtrack release of It's a Wonderful Life.
Well, what good is an award if you don't get a statue?
;)
I concur!
-
Congrats to BK and KL on the awards!
-
This morning, I finally saw the young lady above me. We talked about the dog. She was sympathetic, but I honestly doubt she'll do anything about it.
Step #1: The Friendly Talk. No, nothing changes, but you are paving the way. The nicer you are--at least at this stage-- the guiltier she'll feel and the more inclined she'll be to making the needed changes.
I assume you've heard nothing more from the landlord?
-
The soup is consumed and they are playing games. I am washing the dishes. Well, at the moment I am on the innerwebs, but I was washing dishes a few minutes ago. I sneaked over to the office to run off the bulletins for this weekend.
-
The par-tay has started.
-
The fireworks have begun. It is 8:09 p.m.
-
With temperatures again expected to be in the single digits, Precious is wearing her thin sweater. She likes to be stylish, and I don't take a chance on her impatience in the morning if I want to put on the leash AND the sweater.
-
We have had no fireworks or shotguns yet.....but we have one hour and fifty minutes to go.
-
I hope to really do some writing this year. And I hope to do some theater in Indianapolis, too. I spoke about both of these things last New Year's Eve, but I really didn't do anything to make it happen.
And rarely does someone knock on someone's door to ask them to write a play or be in a show......
-
I decided I would watch a few episodes of House Hunters.
That's one of my favorite shows
-
I am looking forward to ANTIGONE which begins rehearsals in February for me......and directing BAD SEED for production in July.
-
In other news, my brother in law helped my mom clean out her refrigerators, freezer and some of her cupboards.
I'm glad to hear this. I understand how difficult it can be to let go of things--yes, even old food, sometimes. It's so good there's someone she feels comfortable doing this with.
-
I haven't watched it much in the past year or so DR CILLA LIZ, so these episodes are new to me.
-
Hello Boys and Girls, I am days and days behind in posts and have no idea when or if I will ever catch up
-
FEEL-BETTER-PRONTO VIBES TO DR CHAS!!
-
Although I have caught up with today
-
As I read about the experience of other Dear Readers, I know that I am facing some decisions involving my parents. My father will be 89 in March and my mother just turned 83.
I hate to think about what will happen when one or the other goes....not that it is any more imminent than it was this time last year.
I know that I will be inclined to sell the house....but after being here almost 50 years, it is not something I look forward to. It would take a lot of work, and certainly it isn't the type of house anyone is in the market for. I don't want to be a landlord and deal with those problems either.
So we shall see.
-
Reading about the experiences of other Dear Readers I realize how lucky I am to have both of my parents still living when I am at this advanced age.
I will be 65 in August, and I have to come to the realization that I have less life ahead of me than I have behind me....and make the very best of the time ahead.
-
That is some tale of a package DR CILLA LIZ.....I think it should be a Sherlock Holmes story.
I just don't get it.
Can the Post Office confirm that she doesn't live there?
-
DR VIXMOM!!!
-
It is such a pleasure to have an oasis of fun and sanity here at HHW to adjourn to at particular times of the day.
-
Mike, just remember there's got to be a morning after
-
and stick with Shelly and Ernest and you'll be fine
-
Watching a motion picture and am here for the partay!
-
I have my go-go boots on.
-
DR VIXMOM!!!
Howdy Jack!! I've missed ya!
-
I have a melody for which I need to come up with a lyric. I really like the melody, which I actually wrote for PennyO's Little Trouper show, but since we never actually did that, I'm fine with appropriating it and writing a new lyric to it for the Sami thing. I just have to get the old lyric out of my head completely.
-

I left work at 9PM last night and was back by 8 am this morning , but I was able to leave by 3:33 and hit the grocery store and be home by 4:34
-
Vixdad is suffering from a headcold and the Vixter was working until about 45 minutes ago
-
We only live about 3/4 of a mile from the Texas Roadhouse so since Vixdad didn't feel up to going out we called there for takeaway
(avert your eyes Jane, I am about to describe the meal)
-
I'm guessing Jeanne will keep reading and realize the package drama has been resolved.
-
With temperatures again expected to be in the single digits, Precious is wearing her thin sweater. She likes to be stylish, and I don't take a chance on her impatience in the morning if I want to put on the leash AND the sweater.
:D
She doesn't have sweaters in different colors?
-
I decided not to go to the party. It's just too cold out and too far away and it's amateur night for the drinking drivers. I really don't like to be out. So, I'm here. It's a pretty big party. I can make my apologies tomorrow. It will be ok
-
THIS is the best partay - warm and cozy, with lovelier than lovely people.
-
Waiting to hear about Vixmom's meal......
-
Well, I'm here aren't I :)
-
I have my go-go boots on.
I had my go-go boots on earlier. Seriously. Last year I bought some new boots to replace my much-loved old Santanas which my toes were about to poke through, and then WE HAD NO WINTER! It's been freezing here for the past week and I've learned that my new boots (Hotters) are both comfortable and WARM. They have a tassle in the back, which I must get used to as it makes a funny little noise.
-
Old lyric begone vibes for MR BK.
-
Lovely movie moment with two beautiful people.

we each had a Filet Mignon, medium rare, sauteed mushrooms with onions, Vixdad had steak fries and I had a baked sweet potato
We live so close that I left the restaurant parking lot at 8:16 and was in the house by 8:19 by 8:21 we were having a lovely dinner
-
I'm watching Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin.
-
I'm guessing Jeanne will keep reading and realize the package drama has been resolved.
Yes. I figured you all know the perils of posting prior to reading ALL the posts.
-
DR JEANNE the tassel has to be in the back....if it was in the front, they would be marching band boots.
-
It's all in the timing DR VIXMOM
-

LOL I am literally laughing out loud

With our new TV it is so easy to watch Netflix, we have been binge watching the West Wing tonight

DR JEANNE who lives in your Uncle Edward's Beverly Hills house now? Or has it been torn down to build something new?
Oh, God. I'd hate to think it's been torn down. The house that I loved has been remodeled, I'm sure, as it had very little closet space. The next house they lived in, on Aiken--Jane will know this street-- was purchased by a flight attendant many years ago. I haven't driven by lately, although I was thinking about that house the other day, and IIRC I dreamt of it.
My parents' house has been completely redone--by the very people who said they were so pleased it was still original. They tore out the original 1940 hardwood floors, in pristine condition, to put it...hardwood floors. I was invited inside, but declined. My friend Anna, who lives next door, told them I wish to remember it the way it was. Thank you, Anna! Very nice people, but I think I would have gagged.

LOL mine was a six cylinder automatic DR VIXMOM.....but I got it up to 103 MPH once. The doors started shaking like they were going to fly off....so I didn't try to push it to the 110 MPH the speedometer went up to.

No power steering or power brakes.....it was a handful.

Not the greatest design DR JEANNE, but it was a nice car in all kinds of weather....and the price was right....probably about $1500.

Half an hour to go. Not sure I'm going to make it all the way to any balls dropping, so let me wish you all the most wonderful New Year ever.
-
My first car was a red Fiat. For three months it had no reverse, so I'd have to park so I could pull straight out.
It had a stick shift. I had been instructed in how to drive one some time back, but had never really gotten the hang of it. I bought the Fiat and necessity helped me along as I drove it off the lot.
-
Glad to see that Chas has joined us, if only temporarily.

Happy New Year to one and all!

DR TCB I forgot to tell you how wonderful your cruise news is......

DR VIXMOM I always thought the '62 Chevrolet was a beautiful design....especially considering the disaster of the '61 and the horror of the '63.....it was an oasis of tranquility.

Happy New Year!

I'm havin' a partay.

I am doing the Frug in my go-go boots (stoob, spelled backwards), having a sip or two of Diet Coke and also some plain old water, and I will shortly take a shower and wash 2014 down the drain. Then I will do my "thing" at around eleven-thirty, then be back for the dropping of the balls ten minutes before midnight.
-
Each year I think that I cannot imagine a better place to ring in the New Year than here at haineshisway.com.
-
There he is.
DR TCB I forgot to tell you how wonderful your cruise news is......
I finally caught up!
Thank you, Jack. I hope it is a good decision.
-
Why are we stuck on page 10?
-
We don't have to stay on page 10
-
Just had to pop in and say that I wish everyone at HHW the very best in 2015!
-
Hi Danise!
-
DANISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Happy New yeaR COME TELL US HOW EVERYTHING IS GOING!
-
Is your house fixed? Did you get the laundry room? Did you get the washer and dryer? How is work?
-
DANISE!!!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! so good to see you
-
Hi Danise!!
-
Did Anderson Cooper come see your house?
-
Hi all! I hope everyone is doing fine. It's been a real roller coaster but things are FINELY going my way. I feel like I'm walking out of a very long tunnel.
The house is done. I have a brand new 2014 silver Ford Escape. I couldn't put a finger on it but there was something wrong with the Jokeswagon I got. Funny, I heard that they sold it 4 days after I traded it in and the guy who bought it brought it back 2 days later stating that HE felt there was "something" wrong with it but he couldn't say what.
-
Sorry but Anderson didn't come see my house when it was done. He would have been welcome! :)
-
I had to use Mom's room for the washer and drier but I did get them and it's WONDERFUL to not have to go to the laundry matt any more!
-
So glad to hear your house is finally done. Do you have a nice laundry room?
-
You answered my question before I could ask it
-
Did you get your washer and dryer?
-
How nice to have your own washer and dryer.
-
How is your job going, Danise?
-
What I didn't tell you all--and what kept me away was in the middle of them fixing the house and the tree falling on the house and killing Bonnie (who only had 33,000 miles on her), I was warned that there were people in the neighborhood that thought I won the lotto and had come into some money. I was told I would be facing a law suite but I didn't believe it.
About a month after I was told this, I was called at work and told that Toby got out and bit a kid. Here was the thing, the "hole" he "dug" was on the other side of the fence. He couldn't have gotten out unless he dug out backwards. I was then told I would be sued for over 90 thousand dollars!!!!!!!!
Long story short (and it's to much to go into, believe me), it took many months of going to court but the case got dropped. I've been sick with worry for most of 2014 but got the news it was all over just before Christmas.
So now, life is good. :) How are all of you????
-
How is Toby?

Work is ok. We moved down to HR and I have a different supervisor, not as bad as the last one but not the best either. She's ok.
I would retire today if I could but I have another 10 years to go.
-
Nice to see Danise here!
-
Just finished writing the notes, so that that's out of the way now.
-
Toby is good. If he was such a mean dog they would have put him down when they took him. They couldn't prove anything and it didn't help that one of their witnesses came pounding on my door yelling that Toby was out again when he was at my feet. I grabbed my camera and got photos of not one but THREE tan and white dogs (none of which where Toby) out running the street.
Also their "eye" witness said in court he ID'd Toby by looking though my front window (In other words Toby was IN the house) and he was trespassing on my property to see him. Which I pointed out that made him a peeping Tom and I didn't know how often he made a habit of looking in my windows when I was at work.
They couldn't prove it was Toby and when they learned they weren't going to get any money even if they did win, I guess they decided to give it up.

Thank you, BK! Good to BE here!
-
I am glad things are finally going your way and so sorry you had to seal with all tha nonsense on your own
sounds like you have some real winners in your neighborhood
-
I have to be very honest about how shocked I was that people would stoop so low because they thought they smelled money.
Anyway, it's all behind me now! 2015 is going to be a GREAT year!
How is the Vixter doing? She must be quite the young lady now.
-
Guess I need to update my photo--I gone almost totally grey and I am sporting the "Carol" from Walking Dead type of hair style. I joked that I cut it short so I wouldn't pull it out. LOL!
-
You have been missed, my dear!
-
SO glad that Toby is Ok. A lot of time when those allegations are made it isnt' so good for the dog
-
Happy New Year from the central time zone (a little late) Vibes for a happy, healthy and financially stable 2015 for all!

Happy New Year Cilla!
-
I don't think I will be able to see new year in with the West coast I have been up since 6;30 am
-
Thank you, TCB. I've missed you all too. I couldn't talk about the case so I stayed away and didn't say anything. You notice I didn't post anything about it on Facebook either. I just reposted funny things or recipes. I still won't post anything about it there. Even though they dropped the case I know they have 3 more years if they choose to do anything.
Of course, I still have 3 years to file a report about the trespassing. ;)
How are YOU doing?
-
Happy New Year, Cilla!
-
I'm getting tired too. Old fire horse that I am, I could have slept in today but woke up at 5:30 AM (normal go to work time).
-
Well normal get up to go to work time, I guess I should say. Bus picks me up at 6:50 AM.

Happy New year!!

I have to say how happy I am with the new car. The very first brand new car I've ever had. I knew it was the right fit the moment I took her on a test drive. I really missed Bonnie--can't tell you how many times I cried because I missed her and wanted her back.
Now I feel like I got Bonnie back with lots of extras and I only got the "basic" model. Nothing fancy but I love how I have hands free to talk on the phone or get text messages and the back up camera and the usb port that uses a card of the music I downloaded from my computer. Oh, and she had a compass too! :) I named her Nelly Bell.
I got her in August and only just put the first thousand miles on her. I had to take her in for her first oil change and they couldn't believe the low miles on her. I told them I fully expect that this could be the last car I will ever buy. If Bonny only had 33 after ten years (and had nine thousand when I bought her), Nelly should last me a good long time.
-
I think I'm going to hit the hay as well but I WILL be back.
So lovely to speak with you all again!
Hugs and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Goodnight!
-
Well, hopefully some of our other coast denizens will be here for the dropping of the balls. I know I will be.
-
Took a really long shower.
-
YES! Fool that I am I didn't get on here to say thank you! thank you! I plan to view it tomorrow as I actulally have a day with NO plans and obligations!
I wasn't looking for thanks. LOL! The lady at the UPS insisted that she had to readdress the envelope herself, so I wanted to make sure that it got to you.
-
Partay!
-
I missed midnight, but now I'm wide awake! :)
-
DR Jeanne - many people don't know that in Rodgers & Hammerstein's first draft of Oklahoma!, the song was called THE BOOTS WITH THE TASSEL ON THE BACK.
-
Well, it's time for me to leave work for the last time this year! I'm off to my sister's for some new year's eve pizza! I plan to be home well before midnight (left coast time), so I'll be back!
Happy New Year's to the east coasters, since I won't be back by then!
Well, I'm home and watching Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin from the beginning of their broadcast. I've got a LOT of ketchuping to do!!
-
Now, back to page 5!
-
Other than my gaffe to end off the year.
I did receive the the cd recording of Herringbone in today's mail.
I guess he sent me a hard copy instead of a digital download to compensate for the long delay, but I didn't get the autographed program which doesn't bother me.
Was the CD at least autographed? Mine was, and that was all that I was expecting.
Yes it was. Now I would like Skip Kennon and Ellen Fitzhugh to sign it as well. :-)
Maybe we can send them to Skip and he can pass them on to Ellen.
;)

So very nice to see DR Danise here and posting. And so glad that things have finally turned around in her world!
-
I shall now take my leave for about fifteen to twenty minutes, after which I shall return and begin the countdown.
-
Just had to pop in and say that I wish everyone at HHW the very best in 2015!
Hello Danise! Sorry I missed you! Happy New Year to you!
-
I think I'm going to hit the hay as well but I WILL be back.
So lovely to speak with you all again!
Hugs and a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Goodnight!
That'a VERY good news about your house and the bad people dropping their suit! It's just too bad that you had to go through any of that at all.
-
As I read about the experience of other Dear Readers, I know that I am facing some decisions involving my parents.
Of course, the really sad thing is that we might all have to go through this. :-\

Each year I think that I cannot imagine a better place to ring in the New Year than here at haineshisway.com.
My thoughts exactly...well, after having dinner and spending time with my family!

Well, I'm all caught up and have actually been posting from my new tablet! It's fantastic! I have to move back to my desktop computer because the tablet was not fully charged when I got it. It was at about 49% when i opened the box and the battery is now down to 20%...but I got a LOT of use before it used up that 30%. :)

And now, I'm back at my desktop computer.

Typing is also a lot easier on my desktop. ;)
