Well, you've read the notes, you've ordered the notes and the book, and now it is time for you to post until the ordering cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: SUBDOLOUS!
-
Morning all.
That is all.
-
Book is ordered. Looking forward to it.
-
Good morning, all.
Book ordered.
Coffee!
-
Wife Sandy arrives home from Los Angeles today!
:) :) :) :) :)
-
BK, I am not able to order the book from the ship's computer. Please make sure to save me a signed copy.
-
good morning to all

tod
Peggy Lee
I was eight and it was rather a short performance. I remembering asking my parents "Is that all there is?"
-
I'll be ordering the book within the next few days
-
Good morning, all! It was a rather restless night. I was awake around 4:30 for a good 30-45 minutes before falling back to sleep. All I remember of my dreams is a long dream involving the closing of Toyland, complaining about building management in and out of the office, the insane man running the foundation first running Toyland before the Man from Philadelphia and his foundation took over the space and my insanity. I do remember as well that following the Toyland hell and a poor photocopier and one of my colleagues, I went with our former DR Jose to a NYMF show in which my friend Danny Marcus was appearing.
-
Today, the packing continues.
-
Thanks for the check vibes last night!
The check may not have arrived in the post, but the second invoice, which became a direct deposit situation, has landed in my account.
Concerts: a field trip to the Cincinnati Symphony around 4th grade, around 1955. I have no memory now of what the orchestra played. I do remember that the assistant conductor led the performance. Years later, his son Kurt Yaghjian played Amahl in the NBC broadcast and stereo RCA recording of Amahl and the Night Visitors. In 1973, I met Kurt, who had just been in the film of Jesus Christ Superstar, at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival.
-
Good morning.
-
The book has been ordered!
-
DR VIXMOM the lovely ANTIGONE will grace the stage April 16-19. We have a student matinee for all four of the county high schools at 10 a.m. on April 14.
I have heard nothing else about the film....so perhaps they found someone else to do the part.
-
I am going to make a supermarket trip this morning. I need to stock up.
-
Nice memory there, DR Elmore. Kurt Yaghjian! I love that recording of Amahl. I think I even have two copies of the LP, an original pressing and a more recent one that's perhaps of slightly better vinyl. A favorite.
-
I'm at a loss to remember what my first concert was. It would be something in Columbus, and very likely a piano or organ recital or concert.
-
Thursday morning greetings! Richard and I have both been out, separately, this morning. He went to a community talk-back with the publisher of our local newspaper and I went to look in on the vacating of the AAUW book sale venue and to deliver a check to our community foundation for one of our philanthropies. Back now and trying to gear up for today's basement walk.
-
TOD:
Jackson Browne - the "Holdout" tour.
-
TOD - my first concert experiences were probably the spring and fall music department showcases at the high school I would attend 9 years behind my sister. She was in the choral groups, but I remember the concerts being structured with instrumental groups in the first half and vocals after intermission. The big deal was in her senior year when she had a solo on "Many a New Day" when her choir did an OKLAHOMA set.
When in high school myself, I started my independent concert-going with friends. First one I remember was at Detroit's Masonic Temple to see Peter, Paul, and Mary. Also saw The Kingston Trio and The Lettermen there and, later when I was in college, Bette Midler on her first tour. Barry Manilow was her piano player and Melissa Manchester was one of the Harlettes.
-
I am trying to remember my first concert experience......
-
How are we defining "concert"?
Are we talking classical music?
-
DR Laura you have a funny doctor.
-
Thanks for the check vibes last night!

Excellent!
-
BK, I am not able to order the book from the ship's computer. Please make sure to save me a signed copy.
Did you address the computer sharply?
"COMPUTER! ORDER THIS BOOK!"
If you were having problems, you should have addressed them to Commander Scott, the chief engineer. If not Scott, then Spock, the science officer.
-
My first concert was Van Cliburn (I think). Either Cliburn or Ferrante and Teicher. I saw both in concert in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Not sure which was first.
-
Book is ordered. Looking forward to it.
Ditto and Ditto!!
-

Great news, Larry!
-
2WO!
-
I don't remember what was the first concert that I actually went to...maybe a concert in the park when we lived in Colorado and the local symphony orchestra played and everyone picnicked and listened. But the first concert that I chose to go to was The Manhattan Transfer! When I was a senior in high school, a friend and I went to Seattle to see them and we had a great time! I've loved them since I was first introduced to their music in high school choir, as I'm sure a lot of people were back then. :D
-
Wait...I just remembered when I was in middle school, the group Paul Revere and the Raiders came and performed for the entire school during school. I suppose that could be an early choice, but since it was at school, I didn't choose to go, but I think I enjoyed it.
-
That was a rather nice concert your school had.
-
This cruise may be the death of me yet - literally! In Pueto Rico, I was able to pick up some cold and flu medications, as well as Imodium. This morning, when we arrived in St. Thomas, I was beginning to feel human again. I went ashore, found a van taxi with a lift gate, and went to Old Downtown. Everything is now jewelry and watches, and high-end watches at that. On the way back to the ship, the driver rounded a corner and his back wheel fell into a sewer grate. Naturally, my scooter and I went over. I am not dead, or in the hospital, so I guess that is good.
-
Since my mother was a junior high school music teacher, probably my first concert was one of the Seattle Symphony's Young People's Concert. She took me out of grade school for several of those "field trips." The first concert I remember attending was one by the Norman Luboff Choir. After the performance, my mother took me with her to the reception for Mr. Luboff. He was a very nice man. Of course, being young and rather dumb I thought Mr. Luboff was a drug dealer, because I saw him take little pills out of a silver box and drop them in his coffee. My mother had to explain that it was saccharine tablets.

DR TCB that is just a bit more adventure than was expected to be sure!
-
Check in the mail vibes for DR ELMORE.
Lines for the audience vibes for tonight for DR GEORGE.

DR TCB I hope the remainder of your trip is uneventful!!

Jrand, I hope you are having an enjoyable rehearsal period for ANTIGONE.

I'm happy you are okay. In another fifty years, you will look at it as the Good Old Days, just as you remember acting with Sarah Bernhardt.
-
Good afternoon, all.
-
Had trouble ordering the new book, but the order has been placed. I think. I hope.
When I clicked on the line, "Murder at the Hollywood Division -- NEW Book," it took me to Red Gold. (When I clicked on the image, I got the right book.)
Also, there was a button for Continue Shopping but it wouldn't let me order anything else.

I hate liars. The check is in my hands, postmarked Monday, March 23, not last Thursday or Friday, as claimed. Four days from Nevada I understand. A week I did not.
Do not tell me it's raining while you are pissing on my shoes. Really burns my ass.
-
I have six cartons inventoried and ready to go.
-
This day could be better---let's see where it goes from here.
-
Oh, and Howdy, Everybody!

DR TCB I hope the remainder of your trip is uneventful!!

I completely understand your "annoyance". I'm glad it finally arrived.

OUCH!
Yes, I am enjoying ANTIGONE.....especially now that we are ALL working together....up until last week it was just scene work with a few people.
-
TOD:
Lou Rawls. Excellent show. Ashford and Simpson were the opening act.
I dressed for what i thought was a rock concert. Everyone else was dressed in their finest.
-
Good news/bad news about the check DR ELMORE.....but the good news is that you have it!

What a day so far. I was awakened by the damn beeping of the alarm system - six hours of sleep rather than the nine or ten I was hoping for. I armed the alarm then disarmed and it's been fine since then. I alerted the company, and if it happens again they'll send someone to deal with it - this is what happens with a stupid power outage - EVERYTHING gets screwed up. The lights outside the garage are no longer coming on from the timer. I don't know how to do that stuff either, so someone will have to come figure it out.
-
I had soup and a sandwich for the meal o' the day and later, having looked at the menu, I'll just have a salad or an appetizer.
-
Then had to deal with some book stuff - because the publisher uses PCs they could not open the Hightail files - said it was password protected even though it absolutely was not (I got a copy and downloaded it and opened everything without need of a password). My hatred of PCs just graduated to a new level. So, I sent them all eight files in one e-mail from gmail and that they got and all was well. Then they asked me for an e-mail from Dick Lochte saying we had permission to use his blurb. Say what? I responded instantly and tersely for them to stop - that Mr. Lochte has blurbed almost every single book I've written and that they've never asked for any letter from any blurber for any of the fifteen books, including last year's. They stopped and said it was fine.
-
Meanwhile, I'm working on what would be a very big deal for the ALS show - so send some huge excellent vibes and xylophones that it works out - fifty-fifty right now, so send 'em soon and often.
-
I need to see your song list for the ALS show.
-
I got to work today but accidentally locked my keys in my car. :P
-
I called my niece to see if she could bring my the spare set that her mother (my sister) has, and she said that she could, but she hasn't called me back to say that she has my keys and that she's coming over to bring them. I have to run errands during my lunch time, so I can't just walk down to the corner burger joint and get something to eat in the meantime. I need that time AND my car to run my errands.
Dopey me. ::)
-
Wow, what a crazy day for everyone. Maybe I shouldn't even venture out this evening. Except I really do need some foodstuffs.
-
What a coinkydink! Literally, just as I posted my previous post, my niece called to tell me that she's on her way here! FINALLY, I can get something to eat and run my errands. :D
-

Just as we were leaving to go for a walk I bashed my foot very hard. Putting on my shoe was a bit painful. I kept hoping that I would walk it out. We ended up taking a shorter walk than originally planned. I now have the ball of my foot and my toes on an ice back and another pack across the top of my toes. I am holding the top one down with my other foot.
-
Vibes for BK's ALS deal working out!
-
After I finished the cartons, I made a vat of chili, which DR JohnG would not approve because of the beans. I think it's quite good. It's a little hotter than I would wish. I got a little crazy with the jalapenos.
I'm ready for seconds. Then I have some other mail besides the check to open. I went to hte bank, too! It's been a good and fulfilling day.
-
Good and fulfilling, I like to hear that.
-

Uh oh. Is the jury fighting?

I got a check in the mail, too! A whopping $10.88 for my jury service.

I hate liars too. That's why I won't do work with the federal government any more

I woke up in the night and couldn't breathe. Haven't had that happen in about 5 years. Luckily when I went to the doctor she suggested I get an inhaler just in case I needed it and I needed it.
-
Then I went to the local public radio station where I was in a round table for the spring fundraiser. It was a lot of fun. They all said I did a good job so I'm sure I'll be back in the fall

Hope things go more smoothly on your cruise, DR TCB!
-
Well, I have a blank screen on my laptop. It was unplugged overnight and all day. Maybe if I just wait for the battery to charge the screen will come back??
-
BK: I'm coming to LA for the benefit ! The friends you met at the Sherman Brothers concert at the Federal are joining me. I guess I'd better order tickets before you make an announcement!
-

I had an inhaler for awhile but it made me very shaky. I hope you don't need it very often.

I only use it when I can't breathe, not very often
-
Thank you DR George.

My niece is the closest person I know of to the explosion. I'm sure she was at work at the time.
-
I haven't felt very well all day. Hopefully it's temporary

If I have problems tonight, I'll go to the doctor tomorrow

TOD: I think it would be Tony Bennett at Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo. My brother was home on leave from the Navy and took me. It was around 1970. I remember my brother joking before the show that Tony would probably sing the overdone Little Green Apples, and sure enough he did.
-
I thought you might be joining us, KevinH. :)

Only slightly out of breath.

I was just perusing articles at Playbill.com and read that Kander & Ebb's The Visit is having their very first preview tonight (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/a-musical-nearly-20-years-in-the-making-the-visit-starring-chita-rivera-arrives-on-broadway-at-long-last-345189)...actually, it started a half hour ago! I hope it goes very well.

It officially opens on Apr 23rd.

And now, I'm off to the theater for the final rehearsal and only preview of "Laughing Stock" at Olympia Little Theatre!

Back from Sue Raney's show - she's wonderful, but it went on a bit too long for my taste, but that's just me, I suppose. Lots of fun folks in attendance and pretty full.

Thanks, John G.!

Oreo peanut butter cups just don't seem right.
I've had them before. They're not bad, but I do prefer the original and the golden flavors better.
-
Tonight, I MUST get some sleep.
-
I have been staying awake for too long too often this week...not a good thing when performing in a show.
-
So now, I'm off to bed.
Sleep well, all!
