Watched the final Letterman - he went out simple, which is the best way.  Then the James Corden Late Late Show comes on and within ten seconds you realize just how influential the Letterman show was on EVERY talk show in existence today.

Good morning, all.

Practically non-existent dreams last couple of nights.  And who's complaining?  Not me.  But I had a second wind and stayed up far too late, and actually had trouble falling asleep, so I believe a li'l nap will be in order sometime today to make up for that.

Surgery VIBES for TCB!

A lot of us have either had or will eventually have the cataract thing, and I hear nothing but great things about it.

My dad had the surgery when he was 83! I wish they could have done something about his hearing as well.  When I rook him to the BMV to renew his license at the age of 85, the young man behind the counter said, "Mr Moore, look in that screen and tell me what letters you can read."

My dad said, "What?"  And the young man repeated his comment.  My dad processed it for what seemed an eternity and then said, "yes I'm wearing new shoes."

Oy!

Agree, get thee to the doctor and get that ARM diagnosed and back to normal.

One cannot go out into the world UNARMED.

The ARMS race is on.

We must ARM him to the teeth with our vibes.

And we must not groan in so doing.

I added Dodie (who had a big hit with "Tan Shoes and Pink Shoelaces" because of a DOT album she did.  I got it accidentally when it was in the cover of an LP I purchased.

Bruce, you really should switch from Tylenol to an ibuprophen (like Advil). Ibuprophen is not just a pain-reliever, it also shrinks inflammation, which I'm sure your arm is also suffering from. So, it will actually help with healing, not just masking pain.

I lost interest in Letterman after he thought he was Charlie Rose. He changed when he went from NBC to CBS, yes, but his early CBS period was okay, the latter half he changed IMO to try to be Cavett which he was never. Sometimes I would slog through Letterman just to get to Craig Ferguson which was frankly more entertaining. Funny thing, Paul Shaffer was always the same.

I don't think that you can have both a policy from the healthcare exchange and receive Medicare benefits.....but that's if you qualify for it because of age.  I am not sure about DR DAN M's situation.  Maybe DR SINGDAW knows.

I canceled my policy beginning August 1 when my Medicare begins....the month I turn 65.
Title: Re: WHERE'S THE ARM IN THAT?
Post by: singdaw on May 21, 2015, 12:49:42 PM
That is correct, DR Jrand64. Typically, once you are eligible for Medicare, you are ineligible to be covered through the exchange - at least, with any kind of discount or subsidy.

I was watching it and recording it on my DVR.  I set my DVR to end about 5 minutes after the regular time, but Letterman's show went a half hour longer than usual!  My DVR stopped recording and I'm glad I was up to instantly start it again.  I missed a moment between the two recordings, but I pretty much got the whole thing.

Tylenol has never worked for me, either. I've often wondered how it got to be the gold standard in hospitals. It's no safer than the others and, in my view, quite ineffective. I suspect Tylenol has had some great lobbyists.

I just got up after a three-hour nap. I'm glad I have this Dragon speak and spell system so that I can type this without actually being able to see anything. The surgery went well, but took about an hour and a half longer because they couldn't get my I dilate. I would have to get the surgery done on one of the brightest days of the year. Everything is still blurry. Plus I have to wear sunglasses in the house, but still I think I see a difference in my vision. Anyway A-OK.

Went back to bed - I'm so nauseous I'm not even paying attention to my arm.  So far I've avoided throwing up, but it's getting to the point where that may be the only option left.

Hope you feel better BK! I've had that as my only option left, as unpleasant as it is, it does usually make you feel better getting rid of the toxins.

(I know because I have sensitive digestion along with the celiac.)

No food today.

BK, I think you need some ginger ale or 7-Up to sip occasionally.  I'm sorry this bad spell of health is taking advantage of your weakened system.  Your shoulder and arm have probably worn down your resistance,

Well, DRs, this afternoon I had a very positive phone call about employment on something I believe I could be happily involved with.  While nothing's set and the call was an inquiry, I said I was interested, and it bodes well.

That's great, Larry!  Good luck!! ;D

(Hopefully, you're the only one that they're calling with an inquiry!)

That's a given.  they approached me about this job in Feb 2014, and it's taken 15 months to get an offer.

Great to hear you're recovering well, TCB!

DR bk, if you have any, try some liquid Pepto. It can help with nausea. It will coat the stomach et al.

Finally got out of bed and went and picked up mail - one completely irritating piece of mail that I deposited directly into the trash where it belonged.  Still queasy and going to the loo quite often - I'm hoping that all those visits do the job in getting this guck out of me.

If I even looked at a bottle of Pepto Bismal I would vomit on the ground.

Hope your body clears this out fast and you feel better very quickly! I've had many situations like yours because of my food sensitivities.

Bruce, do you have any chamomile tea? That has curative effects. It's helped me in dire situations. Maybe the carbonation was too much for you with all you've been experiencing.

Stayed in bed and slept.  Something I ate last night was poisonous or didn't agree with me - I am so sick right now - blechhh.  I've avoided throwing up thus far and maybe if I just stay in bed I can continue avoiding it.

That happened to me yesterday. Blech. Double blech. Hope it and the arm pain end soon.

DR JEANNE my BE ACTIVE brace is helping the pain somewhat....it's still there but it is not quite as severe.

I think it may help more as the day goes on.

I am glad it is helping some.  Vibes you won't need it much longer.

DR TCB, while you are recovering, do not watch the following:

THE EYES OF LAURA MARS
I ORIGINS
THE EYE
THE HILLS HAVE EYES
THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2 (can you believe it?)
EAGLE EYE (not what you may thinking, it's because of Shia LeBeouf)
EYES BEHIND THE STARS
THE BEAST WITH A MILLION EYES
BODY BAGS (a John Carpenter anthology with some creepy stories, one has to do with eyes)
RED EYE
POPEYE (only because you have to be in a certain frame of mind to watch this noble failure)
and most definitely not (at least until you are well and feeling fine, and seeing better, a really good movie)
X THE MAN WITH X-RAY EYES (probably the best movie role Don Rickles has had, that I can think of)
