Good morning, all.

Early again.  But I must say I had a good sleep.  Just one silly annoying dream about the score to PSYCHO.  Go figure.  And then I had to get up to answer nature's call.  So what the heck.  I'm here.  Get used to it.

Coffee!

I truly don't have any idea what TRANSFORMERS is about.  And I'm happy to keep it that way.  I do have the vaguest sense of what Michael Bay is about, which is probably all I need to know about TRANSFORMERS.  And I agree that these things are what is so wrong with multi-billion dollar movies today.  It's sad.  Sickening, even.  Anyway, I think it's safe to say I have no favorite movies of this type.  Not a one.

Yes....yes MR BK that is a microphone.  The acoustics in a BARN are really bad, and once the air conditioners - that are huge units just on the other side of the back wall - kick on, it is hard to hear anything.

And of course our average season ticket holder age is 55+.

It's overcast here in Oakland.  Temp is 57 degrees with an expected high near 78 degrees.

Humidity is about 84%...and we have a 60% chance of rain showers.  That's nothing to be excited about, however, since that means about 5 minutes of misting before the sun comes out and burns it all away.

There was much complaining about the plethora of night lights being left on and the number of them that were backstage....

So I bought four more today to put in all of the outlets.....to leave on overnight.

Weird dreams last night. In one, which I had a couple of times, I crushed a tarantula under foot. I was leery of getting bit through the sole of my shoe, but I stomped it anyway. I was getting ready to open a door when its black furriness crawled into my path.

The other dream was about going to see a revival of Destry Rides Again with my friend Bonnie, who hates musicals. And she'd seen it already.

Finally got to watch our Romeo and Juliet cassette. Zeffirelli's respect for Shakespeare is pervasive in each of his films.

I can't express how much I love both of them in that movie. They are just perfect together. Olivia Hussey is a true beauty.....no doubt.

My favourite part? Can't say, but it was a good movie.

Oh, and good morning!  :)

I'd just heard that the Transformers movies were different - and the words used were always "smart" and "fun" along with popcorn flicks.  I have no need for films like that, but to me popcorn flicks has always meant stuff like Back to the Future or Gremlins or that kind of film - not this bloated, overstuffed, mindless, completely devoid of humor, badly acted crap.  I cannot imagine a scenario where the first film would suddenly have been smart and fun.

I went to see the first "Transformers" movie with a friend of mine.  He really wanted to see it, so I went with him.  It was enjoyable in a mindless kind of way, but it really wasn't any kind of franchise that I was interested in ever seeing again.

However, a few years later, I watched "Battleship" (it was supposedly inspired by the game...but I couldn't tell), and I actually enjoyed that.  The movie ended up being a total bomb in the theaters, but I thought that it was better than what people gave it credit for.

I, too, love the Zeffirelli Shakespeare films, and I am home from my date with my lovely goddaughter Charlotte.

We loved Jurassic World, which seems essentially the same plot as Jurassic Park. the chief difference being that the first was about the disastrous attempt to begin a theme park, while in the new one the theme park is up and running.  Keeping the theme park analogy, the movie's like a wonderful roller coaster ride: once you get on, go with it for the thrills and the wonderful dinosaurs.  The velociraptors are fantastic, and when the pterodactyles get loose, it's just like Tippi and Rod running from The Birds!

In today's Comedy of Errors - a week ago, our musical director called (I have a vague memory of it) to ask if he and Gloria Loring could rehearse today.  I told him yes and asked him to remind me.  Yesterday, for reasons no one understands, he told me she'd be at the stumble-through - maybe he didn't mean to say that but he most certainly did - I heard it and I said, "Wow, great news."  Today, she shows up at three-thirty and I tell her no, the stumble-through is tomorrow.  She's confused, I'm confused, and we have a nice chat and she leaves, deciding we can meet early before sound check.  Fine.  Then the MD shows up fifteen minutes later.  He denies he told me the stumble-through but I can see on his face he knows he did.  We called her but she was already too far away.  But the most annoying thing is - even with the miscommunication, if he'd just damn well showed up on time there would have been no problem at all!

I suspect most of the US is taking Friday as a holiday.

It is our birth right!

I'll be at work tomorrow.  We have three options when a national holiday falls on a day where we (individually) don't work.  We can:

1:  Take off a different day during the week that the holiday falls.  Since the 4th is on a Saturday, it's this week, not next week.
2:  Add 8 hours of vacation to our accrual
3:  Work your normal time and get paid for the extra hours.  I know several people who chose this.

I'm choosing #2 since I tend to nickel-and-dime my vacation away, and this will help build it up a tiny bit. ;)

I am disappointed to read that your $9.99 monthly fee to Apple to subscribe to the streaming Apple Music service does NOT give you access to the entire iTunes library, but only a small percentage of the entire iTunes library.

Boo!

Hiss!

Which part of iTunes?  A specific and limited section or what?  Did they specify??

Revenge has begun.

There was much complaining about the plethora of night lights being left on and the number of them that were backstage....

So I bought four more today to put in all of the outlets.....to leave on overnight.
Definitely feels like Friday.  For me, it's because every working person I know around here gets tomorrow off.

Except (fortunately) we do get mail delivery on the real Friday; but not on Saturday.

I have no memory of seeing the original R&H CINDERELLA, nor did I see the TV version with Brandy.  But I have been listening to the original Broadway Cast CD.

Now, if I understand this CD, Cindi's Fairy Godmother is a bag lady, or as Cindi calls her a beggar woman.  Does this mean that at the end of the show, the Prince kills the Fairy Godmother before he suddenly realizes that she was once his wife?

Need to get some sleep.  If I'm feeling good in the morning I'll drive up to the lake.  I really want to see my GN Gabe who turned 8 years old today.  He's in town for the weekend with his dad.  The only problem is I really don't have much energy and it's a long day to go up and visit and drive back.  I really don't want to spend the night.  Hopefully I'll feel ok
