I see his name prominently displayed on both recordings. Perhaps I should have done the same with mine? Lord, no.

Post by: bk on August 16, 2015, 11:50:20 AM: Costume designer was a no-show - no text, no call, no e-mail. We finally e-mailed her and she responded saying she'd not felt well, had taken antibiotics and overslept. Now, if this were a first time happening, I would have said okay. But I don't believe that in all the time I've been working with her (Li'l Abner and Inside Out) she's EVER been on time. She shamefully would keep actors waiting or miss her appointment times on Inside Out - you just don't do that, but I kept her on and she did a fine job. Every time she'd come to the show she was late. She was forty minutes late to the workshop of this show and to the reading. I told her had she pulled that stuff on Inside Out with anyone but me she would have been fired instantly. I told her I just can't do it this time and not to show up this evening. The fellow who was going to help her understand the quick change is dying to do the show and has known Sami since she was a kid.

I always think that Sunday people sleep in, but apparently not in that area. So, it was too crowded, lots of out-of-control kids and an obviously too busy chef. They really have the best eggs benedict in town but you would never have known that this morning because they were horrible - overcooked, hard as rocks - not just mine, but my stage manager's, too. Not enough hollandaise either. Just gross. But we did get our schedule all worked out.

I am halfway through the first act of the Moross score. I'm cutting and pasting all the changes made in the orchestra score from the vocal sketches for Scott to make in the Finale files. It's very time consuming. I have a day at Columbia tomorrow.

Post by: George on August 16, 2015, 04:38:13 PM: I'm back from Costco and I got what I needed and then some! I finally bought a new hi-def TV! It's an LG 55-inch smart TV with built-in Wi-Fi, AND had a $90 instant manufacturer's rebate that expires in a few days. I guess I timed that just right. :)

I'm glad to see Clifton's returning. I've never been there, but I'm a fan of cafeterias in general. But it sounds like it'll be much more, and that concerns me. I'd prefer a humble, AFFORDABLE eatery.

I don't think that we will ever have Sunday night shows at 9:00 again...heat be damned!

I need complete positivity during any show, but especially this one. I asked Doug Haverty how he would have reacted and he told me he would have hung up on her. Our new costume guy strongly recommended a young fellow that he's worked with, I talked to him, liked his energy, and he, like the costume guy, has known Sami since she was a kid. All good, but I have never in all these years made these kinds of replacements - but, better now than later.

You do what you have to do, BK. I've never had to make this kind of decision, but I've worked with people who have. It probably wasn't an easy decision to make.

Thanks, John. It's actually fine. The show is costing us almost nothing, so it's not as great a loss as it could've been.
