I  must make my Columbia run this morning, finish up Act One, get home to my heating pad, and then debate whether or not IU will go out to see my British friends.  I would like to because they leave on Monday and I want to hear their adventures this week.

Much appreciation for all the vibes to Manhattan Plaza that the fire wasn't even worse than it was, and the condolences over the tragic loss of our upstairs neighbor.

We had a fine rehearsal last night.....we got some compliments from the director who is now dealing with some technical issues.

I really like my character.....it took some time to get him right in the first act....since at the end of the second scene he turns into a farcical mess....until the second scene of the second act when he gets serious again....it is quite a challenge to find the middle ground and the turning points....

It's a good thing I spent a lot of time at the the Mr. Haney School of Television Acting.

Friday afternoon greetings!  I stayed up late last night listening to Michigan lose to Utah, so I slept in this morning.  Then took Richard to have a CAT scan to try to figure out why his stomach has been bothering him.  The TV in the waiting room was tuned to an SVU rerun and one the ladies sitting across from me was telling her friend about "Olivia Haggerty" being Jayne Mansfield's daughter.

Close.

I had to do some sleuthing, since I don't watch the show, where Olivia came from.

Topic of the Day:  disc 2 of the original Fürth cast recording of next to normal (http://castalbums.org/recordings/Next-to-Normal-2013-Original-Furth-Cast/28039).  I started listening to it yesterday, but I forgot to note where I left off, so I'm starting from the beginning of the disc.  It's less than an hour, so there's not a lot to listen to again.

Further breaking news:

The door is painted and they did beautiful work.  Have to leave it open for a couple of hours to complete the drying.  Will take the after picture later or tomorrow morning.

Good luck nothing sticks to it while the paint is drying.

A couple of days after our front door was painted the contractor's assistant put a scratch in it.  As they were leaving the other day Keith pointed to the door and joked to the assistant that we think of him every day-lol  The scratch isn't bad enough for us to have the painter return and surprisingly we didn't need any other touch ups after all the work and the move was done.

DR JANE - I think I missed it, what is the first thing you cooked in your new kitchen?

We baked potatoes  ;D

Discounting the potatoes it would be sour cream cookies and Anzac cookies.  I ended up throwing both out.  Since then my oatmeal cookies, almond macaroons, and brownies have turned out very well.  My almond macaroons have especially been big hits and the recipe requested.

DR Ginny do you have MyChart where the test was done?  We had that in Ashland and it was great.  Everything goes into your chart and you can go online to see the results much faster.  I'm not sure I can get it here.  I do need to go for blood work and where I'm going doesn't have it.

I took a Benadryl to get me through the morning, which worked, while leaving me drowsy all afternoon.  I'm holding off till I go to bed, then I'll pop another to get some solid sleep.

To answer a couple of questions...

The color of the door is "burgundy" but is indeed close to a barn red.

The siding is vinyl, and is gray.

This has turned out to be a terrible day for allergies.  Wednesday was bad with the sneezing and whatnot, yesterday was fine, and today was worse than Wednesday.  What in the HELL?

And now, I'm off.  Friends of mine are celebrating their 10th anniversary with a dinner and I was invited.  I don't know what they're serving, other than it's mostly vegan and/or gluten free. :-\

Oh, well.  My friends are the reason I'm going.  I don't think it's a full sit-down meal.  If it's just finger food, I can just get what I think I might like (I'm not an adventurous eater).

Be back later!

Where is your quote from DR JOHN G?

The dancing quote is from The Tap Dance Kid. The quote at the bottom is from Sunday in the Park with George.

Thank you, also, to DRs George, Jane, JRand, and John G for the anniversary wishes for Rob and Mary Linda.  Hallmark told me that the traditional gift for #4 is fruit or flowers, so I went to Edible Arrangements and got them chocolate-dipped strawberries that look like roses in a vase.  They were delighted!

Four years?  That doesn't seem possible.  I would have guessed two years.

Happy Anniversary to Rob and Mary Linda!

Not today. It was beautiful out this morning. It got cloudy later on, and I could see there were storms way off in the distance.

Back from a VERY long day.  Lunch meeting was fun and I had a BLT wrap, so not so many calories.  Then to the theater to see the light cues - it was hard to tell without Sami up there, but even without her I wasn't thrilled with some of it, so he added, rewrote and adjusted stuff for me.

Thank you to DRs George and John G for the Richard vibes that I found when I returned from some errands.  Our doctor had called while I was away and told him that the CT scan showed nothing of concern.

Excellent!

Post by: bk on September 04, 2015, 10:25:14 PM
Then when Sami got there, she spent a bit of time working with props and then at six we did a full non-stop run with lights.  Our stage manager had never done any of the cues, so lots were off, but we got through it and I took extensive notes.  And the projections work really well.

Finally, with three coats of Sherwin-Williams Burgundy.

Sorry about the flash reflection.  The sun was of no help.  Hard to get good help nowadays.

Looks quite handsome. Is the siding gray?

I missed whete you named the color, sorry for asking.

Then we took a short break, I gave notes, and then decided we should just do a quick cue-to-cue to address all my lighting notes.  We did and I believe we got everything done and all I've asked for in addition is some extra lights and some gobos, because right now everything looks a little flat to me and we need some depth and texture.  But most of it looks very nice indeed.

They brought in pizza so I had three pieces of that - the pieces were super thin and super small, so it was really like eating a normal slice and a half, if that.

I'm back from my friends' 10th anniversary party and it was a sit-down dinner, but not formal at all.  I couldn't tell you what most of it was, but what I chose wasn't too bad.  I had the salad which included walnuts and cranberries, and I did recognize breaded and fried tofu.  There was some kind of marinara sauce with cut up squash and other vegetables to put on the tofu that wasn't too bad.

Bread...someone brought actual gluten-filled bread, but everyone had to be told that, so that no one had issues.  It turns out that the wife of the anniversary couple (her name is Jim...it's actually Jamie, but she goes by Jim) was recently diagnosed as having celiac disease.  She's had food issues for years, but was never properly diagnosed until earlier this year.  She said it's made a HUGE difference in everything, now that she knows.
Title: Re: BREAKING NEWS
Post by: George on September 04, 2015, 11:58:15 PM
Jim also made a gluten-free cake.  It was made from a gluten-free cake mix and she doctored it up a bit and made the bottom half carrot cake and the top half spice cake.  It was VERY good.  I wouldn't have known that it was gluten-free if she hadn't told people.
