BIG VIBES of cold relief to DR Ginny!
BIG VIBES of cold relief to DR Ginny!
Thank you, DR Chas Smith! Remember, my doctor says it's "just" allergies...
Here's a question for the class:
To which I'd probably know the answer if I'd been paying proper attention...
Is there a good national chain or mail-order* place for getting decent eyeglasses that don't break the bank, that anyone cares to recommend? (*I guess we don't really say mail-order much any more, do we? We just say "online"?)
I sat down at the keyboard yesterday to casually sightread through some music and was shocked, shocked at how poor my medium distance is in my current (old) glasses. It's better in contacts, but I don't wear them on a daily basis like I used to.

If you belong to Costco we have had very good luck with the glasses there for the past several years. If you don't belong to Costco it is probably worth it just for the optical servicesthe last time I went to LensCrafters it was more than $600 for my specs.... We just paid less than that for specs for all three of us
I am just back from the clinic where I was diagnosed with "acute bronchitis"
I plan to call in sick tomorrow

George, re Shakespeare's Star Wars, if anyone ever needs a theme song, this was from my parody book:
Darth Up Your Shakespeare
Tune of Brush Up Your Shakespeare
The Shakespeare lovers don’t think they’re nerds
They find sci-fi too dull for words
But now we find in their folio
R-2 and C-3-P-O
So the next new Broadway hit
I’ve no doubt, not one i-ota
Since the book’s done with such wit
They’ll love the Bard crossed with Yoda
Darth up your Shakespeare
Work in Luke and Han
Darth up your Shakespeare
Cash-flow worries will be gone
You will find there is no other plan akin
To a Iago played by little Anakin
Princess Leia will take any slam at her
If she‘s Kate in iambic pentameter
Bet your Hamlet would fly with Chewbacca
Though it sounds just a bit off your rocka
So darth up your Shakespeare
And you’ll gross anon
Dough goes on and on

Ask BK:
I've lost track of when this was happening, but did the WTMW sheet music books ever go out or is that still to come?
Health Vibes to HHW in general!

George, I have long loved this photo you posted yesterday. Back when I was in college, the German department had an exhibit of August Sander's photographs (my sister Annaliese was a German major at the time, so I knew what they were doing). This was the cover photo of the booklet that went with the exhibit. I wonder if I still have that somewhere in my boxes and boxes of playbills, papers, etc.
ChasSmith - yes they went out. If anyone was supposed to get them as a perk or if they ordered and haven't gotten, I need to know right now.
Elmore, your DVDs are in the mail.
Fred, I love your lyrics. They reminded me of the first "professional" musical I ever saw live. It was at the Actors Theater of Louisville, and it was in the fall after the first Star Wars was released.
It was an outer space rock musical version of "Titus Andronicus." I loved that show, though all my memories of it are campy at best.

Thanks, John G. May i use the quote "The lyrics reminded me of Titus Andronicus" in space? (Kidding.) :)
I think MR BK thought THE BIG SHORT was good....I would like to see it as well.
Just when you thought that chefs and restaurants could not get more pretentious or off base on their food presentations:

Someone from my work sent this link to everyone in our building. It's really cute: Dogs Discovering Snow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEutxAiytww).
;D
I wondered about that too DR JEANNE.....and there were a few different breeds that reacted that way.
I took Beverly Glen home and that was a breeze. Driving home on Ventura Blvd. I see this stupid young woman starting to pull out into my lane from a parking space. I think, "She's not really going to do that and make me change lanes" but it was clear she wasn't even looking, so I moved to the left lane. This idiot twit not only pulls out into the right lane but then proceeds to make a u-turn right in front of me. She's very lucky I'm the driver I am - I slammed on my brakes while swerving to the right. I literally missed her car by one inch and I'm not making that up. This jerk, however, doesn't stop, she keeps on going and gives me a little apologetic wave. It could have been a very bad accident. I really don't understand how they let idiots in cars, but 90% of the drivers in LA should not be driving.
Maybe it was DR CILLA LIZ writing about it that I remembered....
I'm now listening to Lena Horne.Few things in life are quite as wonderful as listening to Lena. Meeting her was a high point of my life.
I'm up and about! Tried to fixed the D5 on my electric piano as the action hasn't been great - I may have loosened it a bit, but it's still sluggish.
I've been recording a piece for 2 pianos, 8 hands - it's the Moderato Quasi Marche from Dvorack's Serenade. I'm working on duets/quartets to see if it's a good idea to put a out a home grown CD called "Playing with Myself".... <no groans please> So far, it's fun.
How are you feeling?
I will watch the videos tomorrow now I must sleep
What is Home Fires, John?

Loved the dogs and snow videos, DR George!
Less than 100 posts to my big milestone.
I blame George.
