Actually, Jane, I have left that position.

I am the closest physically to the building, so I can get over quickly to get the alarm turned off. No need for the whole neighborhood to have to listen to it any longer than necessary.

This is the third time this month the alarm has gone off.

However, in light of the fact that a man with a knife was on the property, I do believe that my new policy is that the police are dispatched every time.

I have half an hour in which to relax, and then I must get ready to leave for New Jersey.  3-D guru Bob Furmanek is having a few of us over for a sneak preview of the restoration of "Gog" (1954) which will be released on 3-D Blu-ray in March.

This morning's alarm was legitimate. I'm only upset that I had to get out of my warm bed and go out into that frigid 46 degree weather.

I have taken the liberty of writing up an updated security policy.

The folks around the church shouldn't have to listen to that jarring alarm going off like this. The first two were two outside groups that have access to the building. This third one was legit.

When did it take effect?  I had communications problems on a couple of emails yesterday afternoon, with someone who absolutely should have known how to "read" me and my sense of humor.  All is fine, and I take the blame for it, regardless.  But it was just weird.

Remember how I said with this book I wasn't that worried about prying eyes ripping it off.  Well, that lasted three days.  The title has now been ripped off (albeit with a different name) by someone I know for a new series of cabaret shows that are directly "inspired" by the Kritzerland shows.  I'm not sure how to handle this, frankly.

Great bit of dialogue from Bad Girl, a 1930s pre-code melodrama. Two women are talking about guys who make passes:

Woman 1: Don't talk back to them. You might get fired.
Woman 2: When they deliver baloney to my door, I always give them a receipt.

I returned to my Thai torture sessions today. This was the first one since the surgeries. It wasn't quite as bad, which isn't saying much, but the recovery afterwards was much easier. I usually leave there feeling like I've been hit by a truck. This is apparently the norm. My back also felt a bit liberated. I'm very pleased. They are such hell to go through, but they do offer potential.

DR George, I'm sorry your mortgage interest deduction is no longer helpful, but how great that you're so close to paying off your mortgage. That's a fine achievement!

Thanks, Jeanne!

Flora Gordon, ex-wife of Bert I. and mom of Susan, passed away last night - she was in her 90s, so a nice, long life.

Sad to hear this.

I just finished the last season of Pie in the Sky, which went out with a bang.  after the tedium of much of Season 4, Season 5 was quite good.

I want to read a biography of Alexandre Dumas père.

Well, I need to leave now.  I'm going to be running the sound for Olympia Little Theatre's production of "Circle Mirror Transformation (http://www.olympialittletheater.org/)," and tonight they're having a paper tech.  It'll be the first time that I'll find out what's going on.

I met the director, Hannah, last year when we were in "Laughing Stock" together.  I think it's the first time that she's directed a show, but I think she's got some support, so it shouldn't be a train wreck. ;)

Be back later.

DR Jennifer I read a book I think you would like, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

A friend of mine read it a few weeks ago and loved it. She also said that she thought that I would really like it. My library has it. It's on my "i want to read it" list just not sure when i will fit it in. I have a lot of review books that i need to read. And a lot of new releases that i asked for at the library.

The sequel should be out in August.  If you time it right you could get them close to each other.

Good news, then. I think.

Shaping Sound was excellent. The dancing was wonderful. The dancers' bodies were perfection. And I enjoyed it. But I was surprised at how highly sexual it was. Not that I'm being a prude, but that had not been mentioned in any of the pre-show advertising, and there were families there with very little kids. And quite a few left at intermission.

I wish my body were that limber.
