Well, you've read the notes, the notes jumped out at you, and now it is time for you to post until the jumping cows come home.

And the word of the day is: PSITTACISM!

Dinner last night at my parents' was fun. The cheese lasagna was by Stouffers, and the garlic bread and chocolate cake were from Winco, but it was all quite good and everyone enjoyed it all. We played Scrabble and probably only the second time in my life, I WON!! I beat my mom at Scrabble...although, she did help me a couple of times.
;D

Today, I'm auditioning for a show called "Seven Ways to Get There (http://olytheater.com/auditions-2/)," by Bryan Willis and Dwayne Clark. I don't know Dwayne Clark, but I've known Bryan Willis for close to 20 years...not closely, but enough to have chatted quite a bit over the years. He's quite a good author, so I'm really looking forward to potentially being in a show that he's written.
-
The audition starts at 3:00 pm, but I need to get to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts by 6:00 to usher for MASTERWORKS CHORAL ENSEMBLE: HARMONY SWEEPSTAKES A CAPPELLA FESTIVAL (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/upcoming-events/2016/3/12/masterworks-choral-ensemble-harmony-sweepstakes-a-cappella-f.html). I've ushered every year that I've been able to, and it's a lot of fun...usually. There have been some not so great performers, but overall it's one of the shows that I look forward to ushering for every year.
-
And now, to bed.
Have a good day, all!

About time, it is late ;)

Vibes for the audition!

I wonder what time zone our 5 guest are in, early risers on the East Coast or should they also be asleep like I should be.
-
Hey Elmore what am I, chopped liver?!
-
;) :-*
Have fun today!
-
Actually as luck would have it the closing from last week that was cancelled was put on for today at the last second so I'll be making a flying visit to nyc to close the loan.today
-
Because of the last minute scheduling I ended up in the office until nearly nine
-
It was such a busy day I never ate lunch but fortunately since I had brought a nice meal for myself I heTed it up and had it for dinner
-
Sliced pork with gravy, stuffing with sauteed onions and apples and carrots with honey cinnamon butter
-
Got home a little after nine and grabbed a quick cup of coffee and did a couple of household things that needed doing. And then at. 11 it was time to head out to the airport
-
The Vixter came home last night!!
-
We drove through Burger King since she was hungry ( she often has motion sickness so she refrains from eating before flying)
-
But last night was a good flight for her
-
We stayed up until nearly 2 while she told me all about her trip
-
Well I best get a shower and start into my day
-
Happy day to all and one and also to one and all
-
Have a good day Vixmom.
-
Good morning, all.
-
A good Saturday morning, that is.
-
Did a bunch of dreaming but can only remember one totally silly thing.
-
TOD:
THE USUAL SUSPECTS
-
To go along with the silly dream, I woke with "But Mister Adams" stuck in my head.
-
Which doesn't really go along with the silly dream at all, but I don't seem to have any choice in the matter.
-
More coffee!
-
Good morning, all!

I stayed up too late finishing Season 5 of DOWNTON ABBEY: Anna has been arrested for murder, Rose has married Atticus and I kept hoping she'd punch out her mother's lights for being a Big Bitch at the wedding, Thomas may move to Boston, Tom may have a boyfriend, and the Dowager has a Russian admirer.
It's too much to take, and I cannot wait to begin Season 6 tonight.

DR vixmom, you were on my list of suspects! You are always on my A-list of suspects. It was all a mad rush yesterday afternoon to find a companion within the Encores! group, since the ticket was meant for Joshie originally, and I wanted to find someone I thought Rob might have appreciated getting the ticket.
-
Last night's dreams that I remember: I was at a gathering with a lot of Asians, and I agreed to drive a young lady somewhere. My car in a turn lane was rear-ended by another car, and when I got out to check the damage, the rednecks who hit me kept ramming my car repeatedly. A cop showed up who knew my family.
My grade school friend John Hawkins and I were at my father's mother's Appalachian farm in the holler outside Louisa, KY, and it was packed with migrants living in the barn, the smoikehouse, and the dairy.
-
Enough of me!
More coffee.
-
Auditions vibes for DR GEORGE.....I think of course that you should read for the magnetic sex addict.

Been a crazy day of cooking. Made lemon curd and then chicken livers with onions and apples.

BEYOND THE SEA (LOVED IT), probably because it was about Bobby Darin and I think Kevin Spacey did a great job!!!~

I enjoy Kevin Spacey, but his crowning achievement has to be "The Ref," the funniest, nastiest, most like my family Christmas movie ever made.

I would be very content with that!!!

Hope your Audition goes well DR George!!!

Hi, Kate!

Break a leg to George!!!

Saturday afternoon greetings! We had our AAUW meeting this morning with a local author as our speaker. I got home just in time for Michigan/Purdue in the Big Ten basketball tournament. It's not going well...
-
I am currently reading HOUSE OF THIEVES by Charles Belfoure and am not sure I will finish it, or I will speed read it extra fast, meaning I will miss a lot of the story. As with THE PARIS ARCHITECT, architect Belfoure writes about an architect, except this time the story, and the characters, are not holding my interest.

I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of blessed sleep - I needed that.

Anyone hear about the brouhaha at Broadway World yesterday?

Anyone hear about the brouhaha at Broadway World yesterday?
Interesting, if you're talking about the actress asking for a shutdown of the chat boards there.
https://pattimurin.wordpress.com/2016/03/10/the-one-where-patti-takes-on-the-chat-boards/
But is anyone with any pull saying people shouldn't be allowed to speak their minds, or are they just saying people shouldn't have the right to be anonymous when they say things?

Nope. What gives?

https://pattimurin.wordpress.com/2016/03/10/the-one-where-patti-takes-on-the-chat-boards/
But is anyone with any pull saying people shouldn't be allowed to speak their minds, or are they just saying people shouldn't have the right to be anonymous when they say things?
Well, FJL, as someone who was a victim of very BAD online behavior, I should think you'd know exactly what this is about. If it were me, no one would be anonymous online - everyone would be responsible for the words they uttered. When our little stalker can follow me anywhere and cause trouble and make nasty posts under any number of names, well, it's not good. And the amusing thing is when I call it out then I get an e-mail saying my post has been deleted because we're not allowed to go after other posters - so they can make the snarky post, their post can stay, but mine gets deleted - that is why I will never set foot on Talkin' Broadway again and have told the people who run that board that very thing.
Broadway World is a whole other kettle of fish. I'm sure there are any number of lovely, passionate theater lovers who post there, just as I'm equally sure that there are a handful of utter JERKS who have been trolling there from the beginning. One of them and his cronies has been going after me from day one of that board and it hasn't gotten better a decade later. I proved that last night and for the first time in that board's history, I believe, they took his posts down, banned him for a few days and warned him the ban will be permanent if he does it again. That is a step in the right direction.
Yes, people can post their opinions, say they don't like someone, say a performance didn't work for them - all people are saying is THINK before you post - don't make it nasty for nasty's sake. Don't be offensive because you think it's funny when it's at someone's expense, and don't troll and bully, which is what goes on on that board every single day. Of course Matthew Murray is up in arms and angry about this because he absolutely doesn't want the boards taken down - gee, wonder why? You know, somehow theater got along just fine without them for, you know, EVER, and theater would get along just fine if they all went away now. A handful of these delusional types think that boycotting performers who happen to agree with Ms. Murin (yes, that is what they're suggesting) would mean something. It wouldn't. Get real.
My point has always been - take away the anonymity and you take away the bully people's power - let's see them post their crap under their own names. Well, they can't and they wouldn't. The guy I'm talking about on Broadway World's chat board is the lovely cretin who came after Juliana when we were doing her Juliana's Journal here. He and his cronies were so vile and vicious it was sickening. No one cared. I had to calm Juliana down about it and explain what trolls are and how this guy especially must have no life whatsoever and where his only thrill is doing his business on that board (although I'm quite certain he goes directly from there to data lounge) - it's about time someone called this behavior out.
And what happens when the attacked gives back in kind? What do you think? The attackers suddenly get all whiny and victimy and wonder how people can say such bad things about them publicly. Well, welcome to the world, friends.
So, FJL, what exactly are you asking here?
-
JohnG, follow FJL's link.
Thanks. I posted before turning the page. I really enjoyed Patti Murin on the Lysistrata Jones recording. Now I like her even better as a person. Good for her.

Very interesting. This also is a problem with many articles that allow public comments...under the veil of anonymity, people have posted some incredibly rude posts, just because they can. :P
-
And on that note (A-natural), I must be going. First, I need to shower, shave, and get dressed so that I might be able to leave my house in a presentable manner. Then, I will hie myself to the audition and hopefully do well enough to be cast. Then, I will go to the WCPA (fortunately, just a few blocks from the audition place) and usher for the Harmony Sweepstakes a cappella contest. I won't be back until it's all over.
Have a good day, all!
-
I went for a much longer walk than usual and my knee is suffering for it. I am hoping a long hot shower will help.

This was terrible timing for me, in that since this broke, I've been so busy with tax office work. So I really just caught up on it today. Thanks for sharing your perspective, BK.

Off to DJ a dance. Got a little work done on the house today. That feels good, but there's still so much to be done.
-
Nothing in the yard. With all the rains, there's standing water where the work needs to be done.
Which is, of course, why it's the most overgrown. It's the area most rewarded with water.

I am home from a wonderful afternoon at the theatre. Since it hasn't opened yet, I will not review BRIGHT STAR. Set in Appalachian North Carolina, its territory is close to my father's roots, and it shifts between 1923, the year my mother was born, and 1946, the year in which I was born
I will only say that it's enormous heart and yearning moved me to tears several times, and its sly humor and whimsical observations on heartbreak and home amused me no end. Let me praise my friends Jeff Blumenkrantz, Stephen Bogardus, Patrick Cummings, and Bill Youmans and the rest of a stunning cast and ensemble, and praise Rob Berman for the high quality of musical performance. It's an absolutely glorious show. I cannot wait to see it again.
I don't think I've liked a new show this much since ONCE, which I could have seen over and over.

Quite an interesting article, I thought. He was remiss, of course, in not mentioning our very accomplished DR.

Is the Vermont Country Store catalogue the one that is like a paperback book?
Not the ones I've seen; they're just typical catalogs. I've never asked to be on the mailing list, but they arrive just the same. They offer all sorts of items you thought were no longer being made, but either they still are or someone has a huge warehouse of these old things. That said, I'm glad that some of these things are still available.

I hope DR George's audition went well.

I understand Ms Murin's frustration, but I hope she doesn't think this rampant bad behavior is limited to the theatre world. Online posts--at least on many sites--are subject to attack. I don't usually post anywhere but here, largely for that reason.

I am not happy about losing an hour this weekend. I always resent it.
I'm with you. When I had to drive the children at night, with my night blindness I loved daylight savings and wished it was all year.
Now I just want the back and forth to stop. Pick one and leave it alone.

A beautiful gown that can only make you more beautiful than you already are,
You can also get a long black skirt and wear it with a dressy top. That way you can mix and match the clothes for more practical wear later on. Vixdad can rent a tux, or a black tie ;)
-
I couldn't find any photos as examples. Everything was for young figures. I did find this.
Dressy Separates
It's now acceptable to wear dressy evening separates, such as blouse and skirt or a jacket and palazzo pants, to a black-tie event. As you would with a dress or gown, choose separates made of luxurious fabrics such as silk in well-fitting, flowing shapes. You'll create a formal outfit wearing a knee-length A-line skirt with a festive print and beaded silk blouse, or flowing silk palazzo pants and a textured jacket or sequined bolero with jeweled buttons over a silk blouse.
How to Accessorize
In addition to luxe fabrics, accessories can help a black or monochromatic ensemble look dressier. Jewelry dresses up an outfit, so try a statement necklace, cuff or chandelier earrings with a solid-colored dress or gown. If your skirt or dress is short, eye-catching shoes, such as a pair of jeweled pumps, help to make it more festive. The evening bag or clutch is also a integral part of a black-tie ensemble. If your outfit is basic, try a bejeweled, sequined or metallic clutch for added shine.

I'll be doing an entire notes about this, but:
You know, I have a really good memory about my past, from childhood on. When I wrote my first memoir, I pretty much got it all right - with a little help from friends on certain timelines. But I went into storage last week and was just ridding myself of years and years of crap, and I found a box with all my Day Runners (remember those) from 1971 to 1985 when SAG stopped making them. I've been looking through them. What a different time it was. I sometimes had five interviews a day - there was always something - but so far I have not found anything huge that I didn't put in the book - a couple wrong dates, certainly (wish I'd had these out when I was writing it), but no head-slappers until just now when I read that I actually screen tested for the movie of The Sunshine Boys! I have NO memory of this at all. I remember reading for it and thinking Neil didn't like me, but I guess he liked me enough that I tested. I'm gobsmacked. But holy moley on rye, the things I read for - my favorite was "read for George Lucas" - I think you can figure out what that was - and not only was George in the room reading people, his pal Brian da Palma was there, listening, because he was about to cast Carrie. I'm up through 1976.
-
I wonder if all you Facebook converts have liked and look at the page I created for the LA show. I know Jane hasn't - why is that? The page is called L.A. Now and Then, and every day I post a classic LA photo there - I'd suggest finding us and liking us immediately. To not do so is simply unseemly.

I don't think that's correct - perhaps your settings are askew. I have liked many pages, none of which have access to my friends.

Jane must speed-reading books that have nothing to do with me, Druxy must be writing nine plays, JohnG must be eating some barbecue, Singdaw I have no idea, FJL is taxing, Jrand is doing heaven knows what, George is auditioning and is literally out every night of the week - never seen anything like it - elmore is cleaning up some orchestration or other, Jeanne is resting, TCB is eating hummus or something, Kevin is in Guam or something, vixmom (I swear to God, spell check just tried to change vixmom to vixmim) and heaven only knows where everyone else is.
Would that have been for STAR WARS or AMERICAN GRAFITTI?

I wonder if all you Facebook converts have liked and look at the page I created for the LA show. I know Jane hasn't - why is that? The page is called L.A. Now and Then, and every day I post a classic LA photo there - I'd suggest finding us and liking us immediately. To not do so is simply unseemly.

Actually I have looked at it and it is nice. Are you sure I haven't "liked" any of them? I am trying not to click on as many things, even typing here really hurts my shoulder.
-
Here as in on my Nook.

Goodness! Saturday night!

Perhaps you should take your computer to bed with you instead of your nook.

Jane must speed-reading books that have nothing to do with me,
I assure you, you never want me to speed read one of your books the way I am speed reading this one.

Right, Keith is bothered by the light of my nook. I doubt he could sleep with my computer on. Moving the mouse around hurts too.

Tomorrow I am forced into going to see DEATH OF A SALESMAN. God, I hate that play. All three hours of it.
-
It is like watching a three hour car wreck.
-
One of the old actor's group is playing Willy and both he and the production have gotten rave reviews.
-
I am sure my friend will be wonderful because he is a fine actor.
-
We have worked together in several shows. He was Mr. Frank in ANNE FRANK with me, if anyone has that DVD.

I just went to FB and it shows that I have already liked it.

While I don't hate it I have no desire to ever see it again.

TCB, after my post regarding my computer I meant to put a d ;D

For the role of Luke Starkiller.

Right, I'd just like you to READ them. I put these damn things on Nook for YOU, not for anyone else.
-
They are saying out windstorm should arrive at around 2:00pm, so maybe the power will go out at SALESMAN.
-
People come and people go.
-
But it is still Saturday night.
-
Only one more post.
-
Six!!

I truly appreciate that. I have suspended holds on most of my library books to slow them up to free up time. I am shocked how fast the come in from my new lubrary, and I have been reading less.

I was just channel surfing, and I came across Josh Groban's latest PBS concert. He has certainly developed a very strong vibrato.
-
Not passing judgement, just sayin'.
-
Greetings from Guam!
-
I hope George's audition went well.
-
Sorry I have been E&T but I am usually gone all day and then get back late from the show. Yesterday I went to Cologne.
-
This must be the first time I've posted at this hour. It's about 9:06 am here.
-
I hope Vixmom will provide us with a prom picture of her and Vixdad when the time comes.
-

I am sure you are correct about that.
-
Thanks to DR Ginny for posting my photo with BB!
-
How much longer will you be in Germany?
-
This must be the first time I've posted at this hour. It's about 9:06 am here.
Hi, TCB! I see you've finished your hummus!
I am sure you are correct about that.
-
Another great job of "quoting"
-
I'm leaving tomorrow morning, TCB.
-
Will Barbra be giving a concert in Berlin this weekend?
-
I've been so lucky with the weather--no rain at all so far and it looks sunny today too. Of course, it's been cold but I don't mind.
-
Will Barbra be giving a concert in Berlin this weekend?
I only wish!

Hi, TCB! I see you've finished your hummus!
I am sure you are correct about that.
Yes, I am just licking my fingers.
-
Will you be seeing PHANTOM once more this evening?
-
As I mentioned, I went to Cologne yesterday. There's a famous bridge where people attach locks and throw the key into the river. The locks have writing on them, mostly regarding sweethearts. Well, when I was there in 2013 for Barbra's concert, my friend Robin got locks, but dedicated them to Barbra. I went back yesterday and actually found them but the writing was all washed away. I guess we didn't use permanent markers!
-
I'm seeing the matinee, TCB. There are two shows on Sundays but Brent usually does the matinee only.

Aww, that is sweet.
-
Does he do two shows on Saturday, as well?
-
Good audition vibes for DR George!
-
TCB: No, he only does the evening show on Saturday. I think there are 9 performances a week and he does 7.

So, will this afternoon be your third time?
-
Now that I think of it, there are 8 performances.
-
Actually, this will be my 5th!
-
WOW!
-
The same ending each time?
-
I know --crazy!
-
The same ending each time?
Usually!
-
Hey, TCB: what's this about a DVD of Anne Frank with you?
-
How much longer will Brent be doing the show in Germany? Any chance he will do the show on Broadway?
-
Yes, I have one somewhere, but I don't play Anne.
-
His last performance is March 27th. I don't think he'll do it on Broadway, but you never know.
-
Yes, I have one somewhere, but I don't play Anne.
Darn! I'd still like to see it!
-
I will see if I can find it for you.
-
I will see if I can find it for you.
That would be great!
-
Well, I guess this is the longest I've gone without watching TV (besides news). The only English language channels in the hotel are BBC News, CNBC and Bloomberg TV. The first day I was here there was a channel showing old Downton Abbey episodes but it seems to have disappeared.
-
In German?
-
No, Downton was in English. I can watch Family Guy, Big Bang Theory and lots of others in German if I want!

Maybe I should try it! Do you speak some German?
I would like to see BIG BANG THEORY in German.
-
There I go again!
-
Nein.
-
There I go again!
It is part of your charm, Kevin!
-
Thanks, TCB!
