Well, you've read the notes, the notes were written on the wind, and now it is time for you to post until the windy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NUMINOUS!
-
I am awake, fretting about a situation wth this reading on Monday. I've sent an email and i m heading back to bed.
Damnation!

First post after George after Elmore after BK!
-
Rest vibes for DR Elmore.
-
Yes the First Nudie Musical was funny ;D ;D ;D , Bruce in particular and if you haven't seen it, you really should. Bruce brings the physicality I loved from actors like Peter Sellers, early Steve Martin and BK is much more winsome than Jerry Lewis (who I never quite understood was adored by the French).
Conceptually a bit like The Producers and that is a good thing :)
While it's still a bit raunchy for teens, my kid laughed a lot and let's face it, kids today are exposed to much WORSE stuff in crap like "Deadpool" than a silly harmless story like FNM.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
-
Well, everyone has come and gone (not literally everyone), so I guess I shall turn in for the night.
-
Good morning, all! I guess I got something between 5 and 6 hours if sleep.
-
I slept well for about 3 hours. When I awoke at 1:30, I began pondering a situation with the music, and I could not get back to sleep, Some time after 4:00, I fell back to sleep.
-
This could be a long and possibly tense day. I do hope not.
-
At 9:15 I have lab tests for next week's checkup so I will head out around 8:40.
-
Vibes for Larry's reading. Hoping the situation gets fixed.

HEALING VIBES FOR DC NICKY!

Good morning, all.

Situation Vibes for DR Elmore's reading and Recovery Vibes for DC Nicky!

Is somebody or something in retrograde?
These past couple of weeks it's been one thing after another, and I do hope it all culminated with the absurdities of yesterday evening because I don't want to think of ways it can go on.
-
Soon after I arrived at the park for the final dress rehearsal of GYPSY, I got a call saying there was a power outage at the house and the generator was running things. Whatever happened, it affected at least a few blocks because a couple of the neighbors were without it, too. I think it was out for close to three hours.
-
And that outage wasn't weather-related at all, more like something blew at the big power station in town.
But at that exact point in time we were under a new threat of approaching thunderstorms, and at this outdoor venue literally everything is uncovered. Stage, musicians, sound board, everything. When rain comes, you scramble, and those with the larger instruments like drum sets and keyboards must keep tarps ready and waiting to cover everything.
So, what was supposed to have been a clear evening till at least midnight or something, well, best laid plans....
-
But we got set up and they had started doing mic checks when the circuit(s) blew and the venue had no power.
-
Ten minutes later it was back up, but there were further delays and we got started, like, an hour late.
And I guess it didn't matter that this was the final dress rehearsal, because somebody was calling out some absent person's lines.
-
And then the circuit(s) blew again, and another ten or fifteen minutes was lost. No one had any idea why this was happening (I guess they haven't had this problem in past shows, and this was a new thing).
But the mics weren't fully working. And the director decided to leave work lights on. So people on stage were going through the motions, but to call it a rehearsal at this point was absurd.
-
"Curtain" was supposed to have been 8 PM. At 10 PM we had just gotten through "All I Need is the Girl" in Act 1 when the word went out that the line of thunderstorms was now approaching our region and to start packing up because that's it for the night.
-
Today the rain is supposed to run its course through the morning and early afternoon hours, then be cleared out for the evening.
Of course there is always the threat of a "stray" shower.
So it looks like we have a show tonight, but we'll see what happens. Tomorrow doesn't look good at all for the evening.
-
I have no idea how well the show is going to run, though.
And I hate to put it this way, but I'm just glad it isn't "my" show. I'm responsible for being there and for protecting my stuff from ruin, and that's all the worry or concern I can take on. From my observation of the two final dress rehearsals, I don't believe this show is ready to meet its audience...to paraphrase whoever it is I'm paraphrasing.
I like this group. They do pretty good stuff --- indoors. But I'm unlikely to accept another outdoor gig here. There are two other outdoor venues where we at least have basic protection from whatever the elements wish to dish out, so even if a performance gets cancelled at five minutes to curtain, it's not a disaster. Here, there's nothing. If I were the proverbial piccolo player, that would be fine. But it's not fine, or fun, when you're dealing with several thousand bucks worth of heavy electronics.
-
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how do I like the show so far?
-
Friday at last!!! :D
-
And for the Friday TOD:
There hasn't been time for anything in my player since THE RUSSIA HOUSE earlier in the week, and that situation is unlikely to change till Sunday, my next free day.
-
My goodness, how I look forward to a leisurely train ride into the city on Monday to observe and enjoy DR Elmore's reading! :) :) :)
-
DR Chas, wishing you an easy day without problems!
-
That wish is for everyone 😊
-
Opening night vibes for DR CHAS SMITH & Co.
Lab and problem solving vibes for DR ELMORE.
Healing vibes for NICKY!
-
Last night's rehearsal was okay....and we're moving on.....No rehearsal tonight because of the Children's Theatre Workshop....a complete waste of our time and resources.
-
TOD:
1776 the 1997 revival recording.....
-
The moon has been doing some strange things this month..... The sun, Mercury, and Venus are all in Leo so some will be showing their bad sides....
-
Friday morning greetings! I slept until after 9 this morning and took Richard for his 10:30 chiropractor appointment. Home for a while to putter and have lunch before my 2:30 mani/pedi appointment.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I do believe I got eight hours of sleep.

A Jack Randall Earles posting on Facebook today inadvertently put a poem in my head. This is it:
When the Frost is on the Punkin
By James Whitcomb Riley
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock,
And you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin’ turkey-cock,
And the clackin’ of the guineys, and the cluckin’ of the hens,
And the rooster’s hallylooyer as he tiptoes on the fence;
O, it’s then’s the times a feller is a-feelin’ at his best,
With the risin’ sun to greet him from a night of peaceful rest,
As he leaves the house, bareheaded, and goes out to feed the stock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.
They’s something kindo’ harty-like about the atmusfere
When the heat of summer’s over and the coolin’ fall is here—
Of course we miss the flowers, and the blossums on the trees,
And the mumble of the hummin’-birds and buzzin’ of the bees;
But the air’s so appetizin’; and the landscape through the haze
Of a crisp and sunny morning of the airly autumn days
Is a pictur’ that no painter has the colorin’ to mock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.
The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,
And the raspin’ of the tangled leaves, as golden as the morn;
The stubble in the furries—kindo’ lonesome-like, but still
A-preachin’ sermuns to us of the barns they growed to fill;
The strawstack in the medder, and the reaper in the shed;
The hosses in theyr stalls below—the clover over-head!—
O, it sets my hart a-clickin’ like the tickin’ of a clock,
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock!
Then your apples all is gethered, and the ones a feller keeps
Is poured around the celler-floor in red and yeller heaps;
And your cider-makin’ ’s over, and your wimmern-folks is through
With their mince and apple-butter, and theyr souse and saussage, too! ...
I don’t know how to tell it—but ef sich a thing could be
As the Angels wantin’ boardin’, and they’d call around on me—
I’d want to ’commodate ’em—all the whole-indurin’ flock—
When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock!

I am home.
Bad day:
1. the nurse couldn't find a vein and had to call in some help
2. I lost the violin battle which displeases me greatly, especially since the argument for not hiring one does not hold water.
3. I'm up to my ass i debt and have no idea when my colleague will finish Act One of Guys & Dolls so we can get paid.
We did accomplish much good work today, but I still worry about the musical side of things for Monday's reading. That extra violin would have eased a lot of my anxiety.
-
Back from a lunch meeting at Du-Par's in Pasadena. Had eggs benedict and hash browns - so not much more food for today but still under 1000 calories, especially after I jog in about an hour.
-
Vibes for DR elmore!!!
-
It is 98% and a bit humid. I didn't do as well as normal on my 5 mile walk.
-
I had a lovely swim this morning.

My CD of the revival of "She Loves Me" (Bernanti-Levi-Krakowski-Creel) arrived today.

But "...my car is in the carport..." did not remind me of "Little Orphant Annie"!

Good afternoon. I debated taking my camera on my hike this morning. I usually don't in the summer, since there's not much to see; everything is in survival mode. So of course, I see not one, but TWO rattlesnakes today. That big storm that hit the mountain about ten days ago greened things up and brought critters out of hiding.
I have seen three rattlesnakes this week. That's more than I have seen on that mountain all season.

That's pretty cool, Laura! Glad I wasn't anywhere near them, though. ;)
-
And now, I must be going. I'm leaving work early so that I may see The Manhattan Transfer at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley (http://www.jazzalley.com/www-home/artist.jsp?shownum=1688)!! This will be the third (or maybe the fourth) time that I've seen them there, but it'll be the first time that I've seen them with their new bass singer, Trist Curless. Tim Hauser, the original bass and founder of the group, died almost two years ago. :(
-
But, it's going to be a GREAT show!!
Until later!
-
We took Rob and Mary Linda to dinner at the local Greek church. It's their annual festival. I bought carry-out pastries from Richard and DR Elmore's junior high Latin teacher.
-
Back from the two-and-a-half mile jog.

Our luck continues:
Tonight's show was rained out! :D
-
It had really looked like it was to be a nice clear and dry night. But one large cell came straight down from Massachusetts heading for the Lawn Guyland Sound, with little ol' Monroe, CT right in the middle of its path.
It passed over an hour before show time, but took long enough passing over that there was no way they could guarantee getting the stage dry and safe for performance. Fortunately, or so we hope and trust, our plans and dry runs for covering the instruments and later stowing them in our dry trailer seem to have gone well.
Better luck tomorrow. Though, at this time, they're saying "chance of thunderstorms".
-
Sorry to hear about violin needs not being met, DR Elmore.
As for veins, they've had to take blood out of the ones in the top of my hand these past few years. Fortunately, that's been working fine.
-
DR Chas....Oh my. I am glad you are smiling :)
-
I'm at Jazz Alley and it's about 20 minutes before the first show! This will be my only post from Seattle.
Be back later with a report!

Tritto and many smiles here. I've seen one in the wild. That was enough for a lifetime.
-
It's been a long, been a long day.
-
Watching the rest of Blondie in the Folloies. There was a fun scene of Marion Davies playing Garbo while Jimmy Durante was John Barrymore in a spoof of Grand Hotel.
-
TOD:
DVD: Wim Wenders' Wrong Move
CD: case/lang/viers ahead of Tuesday's concert
Car CD: Terry McMillan's latest novel, the title of which escapes me
-
Regarding yesterday's notes: I love the score for Silk Stockings, but I've always found the film faded, not what you need when one of your songs is called "The Red Blues."
I also find that while I love listening to the score, Ninotchka didn't need music. So, the project as a whole didn't work, no matter how mcuh charm Fred Astaire has and how much sex Cyd Charisse exudes, especially during the title number.
-
Page three? Really?
-
Larry, I'm with you on the fiddle player. But I hope the music works out anyway.
-
ChasSmith, I'm glad you're indoors for the evening.
-
We had a birthday party for one of the dance instructors tonight. Lot of fun.
-
I'm ushering for the afternoon of the San Antonio Film Festival tomorrow. Should be fun.
-
Because of that, I'm off to bed.
-
Good night, all.

I'm at Jazz Alley and it's about 20 minutes before the first show! This will be my only post from Seattle.
Be back later with a report!
Well, it's in between the shows and the first set was fabulous...as expected. :D
-
Now, we're just waiting for the secnd show to start...which should be in about 10 minutes.
-
Good evening!
-
Page 3? Really?
-
Hottest day of the year in the Puget Sound area.
-
Of course, it is only July.
-
Greetings, 0 Guests!
-
Where is everybody?
-
It is going to be a nice weekend.
-
It will be if we ever get off page three.
-
Just one more post.
-
FiveFour
-
I guess that was wishful thinking.
-
Today I could not decide what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go.
-
I drove to the pet store, but never got out of the car.
-
I drove to the restaurant for lunch, but wasn't hungry.
-
I ended up just taking a drive.
-
When I got home I fell asleep in my recliner.
-
After my nap, I decided to watch E.T.
-
I do enjoy that film.
-
Drew Barrymore is sooo young.
-
Hottest day of the year in the Puget Sound area.
Same here. It was 92 devgrees.
-
It should cool down tomorrow.
-
I suppose I could have found something a little more original to watch.
-
But it fit my mood tonight.
-
And yes, I cried, just like I always do.
-
I am crashing
I TYPED THAT
Then kept dozing off
-
'Night
-
One of the last times I was out with my late friend, Patsy; she reminded me of when we went to the theater to see E.T. I cried then, too, just as I always do.
-
Okay, this is boring. Why are we on page four? Really? I'd suggest we get some postin' goin' on right about now or it will not be pretty around these here parts.
-
I saw a new musical tonight, apparently its first public unveiling. Bring back the veil, boys, because you ain't ready and will probably never BE ready. The single worst piece of crap I've ever seen. I'd love to tell you that act two was an improvement on act one but I wasn't there to find that out.
-
To paraphrase Stubby Kaye, "I love to cry at movies"
-
Just set me down in front of the opening credits of THE WAY WE WERE, and you open the flood gates.
-
Or CAMELOT is another good choice.
-
Let me see, CAROUSEL is a good one.
-
There must be some non-musicals that make me cry.
-
BRIAN'S SONG and SOMETHING FOR JOEY.
-
Both made for TV sports movies.
-
Something I ate today as really made me thirsty.
-
I could drink a gallon of water or juice.
-
Which would get me up every hour on the hour.
-
Five
-
Drew Barrymore is sooo young.
A couple of weeks ago, I watched "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (region 2 DVD from England) and I thought the exact same thing about them...they were all so young!
-
Hello!
-
I must confess that I took a little snooze.
-
I'm posting on my phone while being driven back to Olympia...it's a miracle of modern technology. :)
-
And no one came in and took over the postings.
-
So here I am.
-
With miles to go before I sleep.
-
The second TMT set was just as good as the first...just a little shorter...but still great!
-
Well, actually I did already sleep.
-
Hello!
Hi, Tom!
-
So, I guess that doesn't work.
-
Maybe miles to go before I sleep - again!
-
Yes?
-
No, I guess that doesn't work.
-
Well, I need to go now. This is using up a lot of my data, and it's just too bumpy to type efficiently or accurately.
Be back later.

-
I can't believe I am watching THE TONIGHT SHOW.
-
I never keep the TV on this late.
-
But since I slept thru shut-off time.
-
Tomorrow, I am going to my friend, Martin's house for a long leisurely dinner.
-
Martin is a gourmet cook.
-
I think tomorrow's theme is Italian.
-
It should be wonderful.
-
And you go home with leftovers. Yum!
-
I don't know what time I will get home tomorrow.
-
But probably not until late.
-
So some other people need to do some posting tomorrow!!
-
I doubt I will be here to save the day.
-
One more post.
-
Six
-
Now I am on my iPad.
-
And there is still no one else here.
