Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Walt's Office, and now it is time for you to post until Walt's cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DUNNAGE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Great photos and great videos.
-
And, as always, great notes.
-
Loved the notes, loved the photos, and loved the videos!!
-
Hi, Tom!
-
Today, I have to get to work early for a meeting with the new rep of our biggest vendor. This new person is being brought around to be introduced to his clients, us being one of them.
-
Hi, Tom!
Hi, George!
-
Yesterday after work, I met with the director of TAO's latest WORDS, WORDS, WORDS installment. I'll be running sound and not lights, except for the couple of times when the stage manager reads her sections. Fortunately, it'll just be lights up, then lights down...simple enough for even me.
;)
-
Tonight, my friend Margo and I are going to see Florence Foster Jenkins (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4136084/). I hope it's good. :)
-
Part of the cast of GLORIOUS went to see the film tonight.
-
Part of the cast of GLORIOUS went to see the film tonight.
Did you go, or have you seen it yet, Tom?
-

-
No, I haven't. It is playing ar the Grand Cinema, which I understand isn't ADA accessible.
Ahh. It's playing here at the Capitol Mall cinema, which is quite ADA accessible.
-
Well Tom, I must be going to bed now. I have to be up early for my meeting.
Good night, and have a good day today.
-
Thank you, George. I hope you have a good day, also.
-
First East Coast post!
-
Sorry to have disappeared so suddenly last night. I am not used to having an adult beverage especially on a school night ...one moment I was posting and the next I was waking up in the recliner
-
A most magical Notes column today!
-
There was a unposted post which I had typed but fell asleep between typing the last word and hitting the post button....it was. thank you TCB Which shows how suddenly I was overcome
-
BK I am not sure that any notes will ever surpass today's. What an amazing day. Thank you for sharing the videos and pictures , what fun!
-
What did they serve in the Disney dining room is there a menu like a restaurant or us a set menu set by the host?
-
Good Morning-- great videos!
-
Good morning to all
-
I forgot what a great city Boston is. Except for the little hiccup I had a great time and now it's time to get ready and head for the airport
-
Good morning, all!
-
A veritable plethora of photos this morning! That was fun!
-
vixmom got drunk last night! (giggle, giggle) vixmom got drunk!
-
I am rather happy today. I am meeting my beloved Charlotte to see Florence Foster Jenkins at 3:30
-
I've got GUYS & DOLLS Act Two until then, and I need to pay several bills.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
Last week, I sent several emails and PMs on Facebook to friends from the past 40 years with inquiries about dates, performances, and, in one case, a very lovely email that I can no longer locate.
DR Ginny responded, and the others all said they would get back to me. No one said no, no one said they were too busy, no one turned me down, so why the fat hell have I heard nothing from any of them in the past week? It wasn't as though I'd asked for a pint of blood or a limb.
-
That post just reminded me that I haven't checked my emails in more than a week. But I am already late out the door so maybe tonight.....laters!,
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm too tired to be working.
-
And it's raining again.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Did anyone get the license plate number of the truck that ran me over?
-
Because that's what I feel like. I woke up at four in the a.m. sneezing like nobody's business, got up, and took a Benadryl. Lying there waiting to fall back to sleep is the last thing I remember. Didn't wake up till just now. And boy am I groggy.
-
WOW!!!! WOW!!!!!
The notes!!! The photos!!! The videos!!!!
What a treasure trove!!!!
And of course Miss Hayley Mills got a BIG response when she sang: "Hey, alli-gay-tah!"
-
DR TCB if I won a 50/50 and the charity asked for the money back, I might give them the price of the ticket I bought.....but no more.
-
Miss Hayley Mills wore a fabulous dress.....I am glad we got to see some of the details in the photos.
-
My question for ASK BK DAY:
What was the patter you wrote for Mills & Sherman for the benefit?
-
Wednesday morning greetings! Home today getting the house ready for my book group to be here tomorrow evening. We're having our annual potluck dinner and movie night to watch ROOM. I just finished the book this morning.
-
BK, thanks for all the pictures and videos - they're great!
-
Richard Sherman always looks like he's having such a good time and loving what he does and the people around him!
-
What wonderful notes and videos and photographic evidence!
And what a day yesterday must have been!
I know how magical it can be to walk through a studio. But to do so in the presence of that kind of company, and to be admitted to that kind of an inner sanctum...
Well, I don't think anyone will be topping this one for quite some time.
Congrats to BK on a job well done and on a day that could hardly be topped. And thank you for sharing it.
-
Richard Sherman always looks like he's having such a good time and loving what he does and the people around him!
Totally. Just from being around him at Kritzerland those two nights in NYC, I believe his love of all of that is unmatched.
-
(I almost typed "his love of all things" - which would have been a bit over the top ... and yet perhaps not.)
-

Clearly, the others didn't save their kitchen calendars from the years in question...
-
Perhaps not DR CHAS SMITH.

DR JRand65, diud you see my question about that theatre in Carmel?

The big offender played reeds on several shows and sent me a really lovely email about 3 years ago. I want a copy of that email, and I do not understand his passive-aggressive attitude.

We lived outside of Boston for a couple of years. The children were young so most of our outings were to the wonderful children'should museums I would like to have had more time exploring the city. It was the first place we lived that we could take the train into the city ☺

I had to let go of mine when we moved.

One thing I've been learning -- which isn't to say I like it -- is that remarkably few people share my own appreciation for looking back and capturing memories, let alone with any degree of accuracy. I can hold my own family up as an example, but many friends and acquaintances as well.
If I received such a request from someone, whether I'd known them well or had only had the most casual friendship with them, I'd be all over that shit. I hope you get more responses, DR Elmore.
-
Of the things of mine that were lost over the years, those I miss more than anything are calendars and such.
-
I'll bet you could find some calendars in Walt's office.
-
Yes DR ELMORE - I meant to respond earlier.
I have heard of the theatre, but I have never been there. It's quite a drive UP NORTH....and I don't know anybody involved.
They used to be in the Palladium, the Center for the Performing Arts....a white elephant of a place that they built with NO nearby parking....but I think they had to move to a storefront recently....but I may be mistaken.

DR Elmore is just lucky I hadn't cut them up for collage and other papercrafting projects!

How lovely to see those photos in today's column...and the videos are priceless.

Yes! Looking forward to seeing it myself in the next couple of days, but will welcome hearing about it first. Spoilers okay! :)
-
She sings. Oops, is that giving away too much?
-
All the photos and videos today were great. I especially like the photo of BK and Hayley.
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of needed sleep, I think.
-
The menu was short and sweet - don't remember much about it other than I had a very small Cobb salad - as I later found out, we could have ordered off-menu things since several at the table did.
-
The big laugh in the patter I wrote was Hayley saying, "I get asked to sing that song all the time, but I never have anyone to sing it with." To which Richard replies, "What about the girl you sang it with in the movie?" And Hayley beautifully timed a look to him - big laugh.
-
Bruce I especially enjoyed reading about your magical day and the magical kingdom known as Walt’s Office.

About time to head out to the movies.

And it's raining again.
"Oh, no! It's Raining Again (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfuQPnJ33ZI)"...by Supertramp!
;)

I, too, am anticipating thoughts on this one.
-
HA! Perfect patter!
-
Yes, I look forward to any all reports on Miss FFJ.
-
I shall be off in a few moments for our 4th performance of 1776.
-
Break a leg!

Great.

Today has been one long headache. The mold is high from the rains. Allergies are up and work is a challenge.
-
Calgon, take me away.

"Florence Foster Jenkins" is quite an amazing film. It's funny, Meryl Streep's singing or miming of someone else's performance, is spot on, and the cast is truly wonderful. Hugh Grant is really astonishing, and Simon Helberg of "The Big Bang" really boggled my mind as this quietly gay, mousey southern gentleman who goes fighting all the way to Carnegie Hall. The three actors get all the laughs and never push the sadness behind the comedy. It's quite often heartbreaking, and the ending is a killer.
Nina Arianda, whom I'd never seen before in anything. plays the proverbial dumb blonde with the hig heart, and there are wonderful cameos by a whole crew of amazing actors. I suspect they are mainly British, ;ole John Sessions and Maggie Steed, but the impersonations of Carl Edwards of the Met and Arturo Toscanini are quite wonderful. The design is really fine and the choreography of Hugh Grant's dance with Nina Arianda really jives.

Any Oscar predictions???
-
I have an appointment for a haircut after work.
It's about one week past the ideal date for a haircut, but I don't look too slovenly.
-
I could take a nap right now.
-
But I won't.

Thank you for this excellent review. The previews did not entice us.
-
I am packed and now must clean before leaving early in the morning for the airport.
-
Most of tomorrow will be spent on planes. We are flying to Athens where we shall meet up with friends for an adventure.
-
The adventure was to end in Istanbul but, of course, that has been changed.

Thanks for the report, Larry. I'd read that they had originally recorded all the songs in a studio, but when they went to film it, the director decided to have Meryl sing and Simon play live (he really can play the piano). And so they filmed them performing live. That's pretty cool.
-
Thanks for that bit of trivia.

He's an excellent pianist.

Frustrating stuff with the bank, but some resolved, so that's good.
-
Listening to some interesting music. I really must jog at some point and yet I really don't feel like it. But I shall nonetheless.

He actually played a keyboard on THE BIG BANG THEORY in a very sweet storyline about when Bernadette was sick and in the hospital on the anniversary of their first date. Here's a link to YouTube:

Thank you for the link.
My pleasure!

And now, I'm off to the cinema to see "Florence Foster Jenkins." ;D
Be back later!
-
I hope you like it.

Went on a run to the open Costco today. Got the parental units stocked up on the essentials, including toilet paper and Kleenex.
-
We watched a little of the Olympics tonight. This whole watching TV thing is strange to me after years of not watching.
-
BK, did you know that Criterion's November releases include One-Eyed Jacks. You still have the soundtrack available, right?

I'm sure your supplies are appreciated.

Arthur Hiller has died. I loved the original version of "The In-Laws." And, of course, he was responsible for "Love Story."
-
He also directed "The Americanization of Emily" and "The Hospital," two other movies I really enjoyed.
-
He had a long life. I hope it was a very good one.
-
Since I don't know if I will be able to post on certain special days....

He and his wife were married for 68 years. Nice run.

Oh dear Lord - what a crazy two hours I've just had. My computer spared out, shut off, I could not restart - I called Apple Support and got some guy who really didn't know much, so he couldn't get anything working and made me an appointment for Friday. Then on a hunch I called back and got someone who was smart and nice, and he had me do other stuff and we managed to get back on. We were screen sharing when it shut down again. So, we went into 'recovery' mode and tried to do a drive repair and it wouldn't do it, which means the drive is corrupt or going bad or whatever. So, in it will go on Friday, although we did manage to get back to the desktop and I am working from there right now. But smartly, I put my main folder onto an 8gig little memory thing so I can work from that on my MacBook Air if I have to. Crazy stuff. I asked if I should put it to sleep when I'm not working and he thought that was a good idea so that's what I'll do and hopefully it will be okay for a while.
