Well, you've read the notes, the notes were congested but hopefully getting better, and now it is time for you to post until the congested cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: VULPINE!
-
First post after BK!
-
Gratuitous Post #3!
;)

T.O.D.
I was never much of a Beatles fan. I didn't dislike them, I just wasn't very interested. I liked a lot of their songs, but I never owned any of their albums or singles. If I was to pick a favorite, I would say the SGT PEPPER album was pretty great.
My music favorites were The Mamas and the Papas, and The Supremes. I saw both of those groups in concert, and owned all of their albums.
-
We had almost a full house tonight.
-
The show was very good, I was so-so. I screwed up one line in my first scene.
-
The cast was giving me a bad time about that last review.
-
Feel better vibes to BK.

I agree with this part of your post. I never knew any of their actual albums, though. Only individual songs.

My favorite group was and is The Manhattan Transfer. I've seen them in concert more than a dozen times and I also have all of their albums.

Wonderful to read the news from last night for JohnG!!!
-
George - congrats on opening night going so well!

More feel-better vibes to BK!

TOD: "Yellow Submarine" seems to be my earliest memory of the Beatles.
In Yeshivah, I recall that we students were quite taken with the version of "All Together Now" which had the title translated into many languages, including Hebrew.
-
With the magic of YouTube, that "All Together Now" with all the languages was easy to find
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FLde6Shxq8

TOD:
Never really a fan of The Beatles. Just like some of their songs (e.g. "Yesterday").
-
Good morning, all!
-
I'm feeling a bit under the weather this morning. I slept well, with several strange dreams - one was a doozy! - but my stomach is not happy this morning.
-
DR John G, what good news!
-
DR TCB, can you not get your wifi password from your wifi supplier?
Do you not keep a log of your passwords?
-
I need a trip to market, but I may hold off until Monday.

Same here.

DR George, the best I have ever said about a beer is that I didn't hate it. I think Keith would have liked the pumpkin beer. Bryan makes different flavors. I cannot remember if he has done pumpkin.
-
DR TCB, good luck retrieving your password.
-
I first heard of the Beatles when I heard a radio broadcast of the Boston Pops-Arthur Fiedler recording of "I Want To Hold your Hand." It was one of those moments you never forget - weird, I know! - because it occurred on a drive on the newly-built I-75 from Middletown to Cincinnati. I immediately purchased the recording at Davidson's Photo Shop, where I purchased most of my recordigns.
My brother Macbeth, who played guitar, purchased the first US album, and suddenly there was a plethora of Beatles magazines all over the house. He had all of their recordings. I think I only had the two tie-ins with "Help!" and "A Hard Day's Night" and the album with "Eleanor Rigby." Was that "Revolver"?
-
Good morning, all.
-
A Saturday, it is.
Who am I, Yoda all of a sudden?
-
I have those Menotti opera LPs. I'll have to clean them up and have a listen. If they're in the shape I'm hoping for, I can make a damned fine CD transfer myself.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Two!
-
Thanks for the vibes and good wishes, all. Greatly appreciated.
-
It's still raining very solidly out there. I wonder what driving downtown will be like this morning, as I go pick Carol and Betty up to take them to the airport. The Rock n Roll Marathon is this weekend, so getting around could be tricky.
-
I woke up way too early. I will need a shot of caffeine tonight.
-
TOD:
In 1963/64, it was my sister who was the Beatles fan in the house. I had no interest at the time, though I did finally go to see Help! with high school friends -- and liked it, especially the weird style of humor. It wasn't till after the college years that I picked up those red and blue compilation albums and started appreciating some of the songs. Then I read the book HELTER SKELTER, which I loved, and got the White Album to get to know the songs that figure in that, and really liked most of it.
Skipping way ahead to recent years, I've recently listened to a couple of the original mono album mixes, and I'm blown away by them. That really is like discovering the boys anew.
-
TOD:
I'm in the camp that never was big on the Beatles. I don't have any of their albums, but I do have A Hard Day's Night on DVD. Somehow I've managed to learn a lot of their songs.
My favorite rock group would have to be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. I've seen them in concert about seven times. The only person I've seen more is k.d. lang, whom I've seen with the Reclines, as a solo and now with Case and Viers.
-
George, I had a beer from one of the local brewery's last night that taste more of orange than wheat or hops. Very pleasant. Even Carol, who hates beer, found it refreshing. It went well with the food. I did want another, but I was also driving in that rainy mess, so I stopped myself.
-
Well, it's a long day ahead with a trip to the airport, dance lessons in the morning and helping Joy with lessons in the evening. I also want to find a half hour or so to finish the last 30 pages of Kritzer Time, which I am enjoying too much to want to see it end.
-
Good morning.
-
I was too young for The Beetles. My older sister liked The Monkees, though.
-
Yesterday I made some yeast rolls. I figured, the oven is clean. I should use it! I gave some rolls to the mail lady, because I had to get them out of the house.
-
Oh man, the oven here REALLY needs a cleaning. I should accept DR Laura's lovely reminder and get that done today.
-
I was too young for The Beetles. My older sister liked The Monkees, though.
I still like The Monkees.
-
It annoyed Craig when I first told him that I enjoyed watching the audience at the Hollywood Bowl more than the Beetle concert.
-
TOD:
Due to my age, I was in the camp of girls that was always being asked, "Who do you like better - The Monkee's or The Beatles?" And since I knew nothing of The Beatles circa 1972 and The Monkees had their own hit TV show, my answer sadly was, The Monkee's. My dad used to sing the words, "I want to bite your hand" in a funny vampire voice and pretend to bite my hand and I would giggle like crazy. I had no idea what song he was making fun of. I was 5 years old. I just barely remember hearing "Come Together" on my little transistor radio and my sister and I liked it very much. A decade later, my sister got the double blue album and we just fell in love with them and I've been a big fan ever since. I eventually got the albums Revolver and Let It Be. My favorite songs are "Eleanor Rigby", "Dear Prudence", "Julia" and "For No One". Funny how most of those titles are women's names.
-
I just listened to "Unsung Sherman Brothers" again. So many wonderful numbers, but I'm really partial to the "13 Clocks" score.
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! I've been to see Tina for a much-needed haircut. If I'm reading my eye surgery info correctly, the next time I visit her I'll be able to see in the mirror without my glasses...
-
TOD - I was in 8th grade when the British invasion took place, but being in Motown tempered the Beatlemania somewhat. My favorite song from the early era was "All My Loving." I also remember my classmate Sue writing what we now know as "fan fiction" in which some of the popular girls were involved in hot 'n' heavy romances with John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
The Beatles song that evokes the strongest memories for me, though, is "Hey, Jude." It was always playing in the snack bar of my freshman dorm at The University of Michigan. Hearing it takes me right back to Bursley Hall, 1968.
-
I am partial to "13 Clocks" as well DR ELMORE....there is just something about it......
-
I was in the 8th grade as well when Beatlemania hit the U.S. "I Want to Hold Your Hand" was played on the radio incessantly, and it was impossible to avoid them and their music. Of course we watched that February when they debuted on The Ed Sullivan Show!
It all seemed a bit ridiculous, but then I listened to the songs, and I really liked them. The floodgates were open and we were subjected to English groups of all kinds, most of whom didn't have anything to offer.....Freddy & the Dreamers, etc.
I also love SGT PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND, TODAY TOMORROW AND YESTERDAY, MEET THE BEATLES, LET IT BE....all albums that I still play today.....
-
Well, that does it. I'm just going to have to put on "13 Clocks" again today.
-
In the meantime, I got these out, put them through the deluxe cleaning process, and boy are they beautiful. I must say I did really well back in my secondhand record picking days. I could almost believe neither of these had ever been played.
(http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff302/HHWgroup/Menotti_zpsyglk6cwr.jpg) (http://s238.photobucket.com/user/HHWgroup/media/Menotti_zpsyglk6cwr.jpg.html)
The Consul on Decca is of that older type vinyl that almost feels like a 78, and there's a just-detectable surface noise that only makes itself known during complete silence or very quiet passages, and really, it's fine. The other one is from that great middle era in Columbia LPs -- a beautiful 6-eye pressing, one of my favorites.
-
I love those older Columbia LPs of works like this, including their Metropolitan Opera casts and the first complete recordings of the Berg and Schoenberg operas. Somebody there knew just when, where, and how to capture the spirit of these works. Modern recordings will better them in many ways, of course -- no question -- but these will always remain #1 in my book.
Next up on the examination table and the turntable, maybe tomorrow, will be the original RCA recordings of Menotti's The Saint of Bleeker Street and Maria Golovin. I don't believe I ever listened to the latter.
-
I'm up, I'm up - I think I got eight hours of sleep.
-
That set of "The Medium" and "The Telephone" is so fantastic. No later recording of either opera comes close, although Columbia did a good "Medium" in the 1970s that has never been released on CD. It should be.
-
Thanks for the heads up on that one, DR Elmore! I'll start looking for it.
I do have Jorge Mester conducting The Old Maid and the Thief on Mercury Records. And Leinsdorf conducting the cantata, The Death of the Bishop of Brindisi.
Will get to all of these ASAP.
-
DR TCB, can you not get your wifi password from your wifi supplier?
Do you not keep a log of your passwords?
I do keep a log of all my passwords, but I apparently didn't think the WIFI password was very important. I have never been asked for it since I first connected my laptop and my iPad to it.

I believe that The Death of the Bishop of Brindisi was premiered at the Cincinnati May Festival around 1964.

I see I have three DVDs of "The Medium," the film with Marie Powers and Anna Maria Alberghetti, a Canadian broadcast with Maureen Forrester, and a German broadcast.

Will you will have both your distance and reading vision corrected?
-
Amy, I enjoyed the sweet memory of your father.
-
Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog.
-
If you are talking about the wi-fi box thingie that sits on your shelf and blinks, there should be a password on it somewhere. Unless you changed it.
Thus endeth everything I know about wi-fi box thingies.
-
George - congrats on opening night going so well!
Thanks, Fred!
-
I have slept and now I'm awake.
-
It's also time for me to take a shower, get dressed, and head to Hawks Prairie restaurant to meet with our very own TCB, Jane, and Jane's everlovin' Keith, and TCB's friends, Sharry and Micheal. I'm sure we'll dish the dirt and have a grand time. :D
-
After that, I'll go to my sister's for more visting with the cousin, then I'll be off to the theater.
Have a great day, all!

Will you will have both your distance and reading vision corrected?
By paying somewhat beyond what Medicare covers, I think they can correct my distance vision and my astigmatism. I will still need reading glasses, but will probably be able to get by with OTC rather than prescription ones.
My big question is: will anyone recognize me without my glasses?
-
I've been listening to the Columbia recording of "The Medium" and "The Telephone." That final duet for Lucy and Ben, "Don't forget
. . . yes? . . . my number!" is so beautiful and funny.
"Where are you, my darling?"
"I'm terribly near you, right next to your ear."
And I finished "The Hot Patata" so I need to let Rob know I'm ready for another.
-
Hey, DR Laura, are you now delivering food?
-
Just finished Kritzer Time. Excellent read.
-
The rain is still falling and the water has little or no place to go. The entrance of my neighborhood looked like a flowing stream that was at least a foot deep.
-
And it will rain, according to the meteorologist app I have, until Tuesday.
-
It's also time for me to take a shower, get dressed, and head to Hawks Prairie restaurant to meet with our very own TCB, Jane, and Jane's everlovin' Keith, and TCB's friends, Sharry and Micheal. I'm sure we'll dish the dirt and have a grand time. :D
Don't forget to take some photos!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
A BIG CONGRATS to DR Elmore on his new Encore's gig. That sounds right up your alley. Sounds really great, too.
-
A BIG CONGRATS to TCB, too. I had no idea TCB was a juggernaut. I didn't realize we had juggernauts at HHW. But I have no doubt that all the praise was most merited.
-
More CONGRATS to DR John G on his excellent test results. (We can't say "positive" results, because positive is negative and negative is positive.) Vibes for continued success.
-
DR Ginny, my eye surgeries were a year earlier than I expected, too. I went in for a preliminary consultation with the surgeon and he wanted to go ahead. At UCLA they plan three months in advance, so if you miss the window you can be stuck for a bit.
As for people recognizing you without glasses, you'll probably be advised to wear sunglasses without fail, as the surgery leaves your eyes sensitive to light. Whether they recognize you or not, you'll look cool.
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about the passing of your friends.
-
I do believe the planets are in utter chaos. All my friends seem to be ailing. Methinks BK left Holst too early. Or something.
-
I came late to the Beatles. In high school, my friend Ethelinn/Lulu (isn't she in KRITZER TIME as Lolo?) was screaming her head off over them, but I've never liked rock. It was only years later when I heard orchestral versions that I realized how lovely the music is.
-
Congestion-begone vibes to BK!
And throat be better!
-
It's time for some lunch. I'd like enchiladas, but will probably settle for some soup.
-
And whatever happened to my black socks? I was sure I put four in the washer, but only three came out. Harrumph!
-
TTFN.
-
Yes, DR Jeanne, sunglasses are a must for me. Mom has macular degeneration and wearing sunglasses is one if the measures advised to reduce the risk. At least I might be able to use OTC sunglasses instead of the pricey prescription ones I've worn since college.
-
four!

TOD
The very first record I bought with my own money was the 45 of A HArds Day's night the flip side was I should have known better which I liked better than the A side. I wonder if I still have it....I was 7
-
Me delivering food? No, I just share it with the mail lady once in a while.

Caught up. I am very happy with your good medical report , John G

That's more than I know.... If the wifi has to be reset I need to wait for Vixdad to come home and fix it
-
Vixmom, sorry to hear about the passing of your friends.
Thank you
-
Well all the gifts for Canada were wrapped, boxed and shipped
-
$76 in postage
-
I had a dentist appointment earlier in the week during which molds were taken for my implant crowns
-
I have to go back for a fitting on December 21st but the Dentist won't guarantee that he will be able to affix them
-
So I may not have my front teeth got Christmas after all
-
Getting ready to watch the Big Ten (12, 14, whatever) championship game. Still haven't figured out how 2 teams ranked lower than Michigan and Ohio State made it into this game. Sometimes it's nice to watch a game in which I have no emotional investment.
-

What Keith did. I thought things might have improved enough not to need glasses at all.
-
Oops, Keith didn't email the photo to DR George to post. He is doing so now.

Are you sing the song?
VIBES YOU GET FRONT TEETH FOR CHRISTMAS!

Caught up. I am very happy with your good medical report , John G
Thank you. I have breathed more than one sigh of relief, as you can imagine.
-
Dental vibes for Vixmom.

The rain has stopped -- for now. The waters have receded. But there's more in the forecast.

Watching another episode of A Place to Call Home. Yes, call me an addict.

Hello, 0 Guests.
-
What are you doing on a Saturday night?
-
I'm trying not to get any work done.
-
Watching another episode of A Place to Call Home. Yes, call me an addict.
It is nice you have enjoyed the club.
-
Time for bed.
Good night, all.

Tonight was fun and DR George was very good. He also looked great in his costume. He looks great in his regular clothes too :)
-
Something is screwy somewhere - couldn't get on, then I could then I lost a post, e-mailed our guy, he can't find any issues, but I can't get on via Safari. I'm doing this from Chrome - scratch that - wouldn't work, now I'm back on Safari.
-
Trying to suss out what's wrong with the web guy.
-
Test post.

Post test.

Good evening!
-
Seems to be okay
-
A bit slow
-
Now why have we JUST gotten to page five??? Really?

Page Five

I look like I belong in Madame Tussauds!
-
We had a great audience tonight.
-
It was also probably our best show of the run.
-
Still working?
-
Only a few people booed me tonight.
-
But several people cheered me on my curtain call.
-
Great audiences are nice. I saw Waiting for Lefty, a Clifford Odets polemic - not really much of a play. The best part was it ran exactly sixty-five minutes so I was out of there at 9:05 and home by 9:20.
-
Here's a close-up of the Kuşadası keychain:

That is even shorter than our show.

Still working?
-
Kind of.
-
A teeny bit slow.
-
Well, notes will be up in ten minutes.
-
Get me off this damn page.
