Well, the Professional Weather Guessers are of a mind in saying we're going to have snow overnight tonight -- one to three (or four) inches, then turning to rain tomorrow, and that rain will make it a hot mess.  And yes, of course it's to be on a Monday morning.  That's part of their grand plan.

It was so chilly this morning that life was much more fu curled up under a pile of warm blankets.  I had a doozy of a dream about A Tale of Two Cities, which waffled between the French Revolution and the 21st century. In one minute I seemed to be dealing with the Manettes in Manhattan, the next, we were all at the Bastille.

I'm very fond of the gigantic British-French dramatization that was made for the Revolution bicentennial, so I think I might drag it out to watch soon.  Jean-Oierre Aumont was inspired casting for Dr. Manette, and Anna Massey is a great Miss Pross..

No family credit for that one, DR FJL.  Apparently the whole show is wordplay, though.  Timothy, who sat out today's number, told me afterwards that the finale is "a bunch of songs, all mixed up."

I'd eat them all. Both the torte and toffee cake look wonderful. The one that sounds best to me is not necessarily the prettiest, but I'd likely scarf down a pint or two of ginger beer sorbet without blinking. Or thinking.

Finished helping my dance instructor and partner, Joy, move out of her restaurant. We filled a 9-foot U-Haul. Actually, I filled it, all but the giant round-top table that has a lazy Susan with it. I think that table top, which seats 12, weighs several hundred pounds. We rolled it out to the truck and only had to lift it a few feet, but it took three of us.

Well, yesterday was a day.  After I woke up (I got to sleep in!), I took a shower, got dressed, fed my face, then went to work for a few hours.  I had to submit a book order directly to a publisher where certain tiles were as much as 70% off, but the info got set aside and sort of forgotten (by me...spoo! ::) ), so I hope most of the titles are still available.  The sale goes until the end of January for as long as stock is available on the specific titles.
Title: Re: COMPING KAY
Post by: George on December 11, 2016, 03:12:08 PM
Anyway, after I submitted the order to the publisher by fax, I had to hie myself to the theater.  I got there early and was able to count Friday night's till and prepare it for that night's show.  We had our show (17 people in the audience...and they loved it!), then we had a cast party at house of one of the actresses.

People ate and chatted and had a great time.  The last of us left at about 2:30.  I came home and went directly to bed because I had to get up and get dressed earlier than I really wanted to because I had (stupidly ;) ) signed up to work concessions for a local ballet performance of "The Nutcracker."

The cough syrup I've been using says "Boiron Chestal Honey." I think you may have a slightly different formula. I wonder if the one I've been using has been discontinued. A search turns up lots of very similar products.

Hmmm, I did a search here and found Boiron Chestal Cold & Cough so that is what I purchased. I will look and see what the difference is regarding the cough syrup portion.

I suspect they're quite similar. The honey makes it quite sweet. Does yours have honey?

The ingredients are completely different, maybe that is why it isn't working.  On the whole I have very bad luck with homeopathic products.  I also tend to avoid honey if I have a cold or allergies.

Sorry to hear about your cough, Jane.

The cough syrup I've been using says "Boiron Chestal Honey." I think you may have a slightly different formula. I wonder if the one I've been using has been discontinued. A search turns up lots of very similar products.

No honey.  The sucrose makes this sweet as well.

I've returned to the show that Jane doesn't like, LONGMIRE. I find the Indian characters particularly interesting.

LOL.  Have you read the books?  Do you find the actress who plays Vic either funny or that she looks like an Italian Goddess?  My brother, who introduced me to the books, told the author Keith & I couldn't watch the show because of her ;D

I went out this afternoon in search of chocolate Santas. No chocolate Santas to be found. The nearby Ralph's supermarket has had them in the past at Christmas, but not this year. The employee I asked said that the store manager must be a real grinch!

Look for a Lindt chocolate display, AFTER we had checked out and were leaving the market.

If I thought the actress playing Victoria were funny, or could act, I could forgive her not looking like an Italian Goddess ;)

Fascinating.  I just searched "cough syrup" again and the only mention of the cold and cough formula I purchased was when I just mentioned it.  I didn't imagine it, I copied it from the search results to my shopping list.  I don't even know if they sell the plain cough honey one. DARN!!!

Uploading music and listening to Ormandy's seventies recording of the Sibelius 5th - I'd tried out his 70s recording of the first, which had such awful low, muffled sound I nuked it immediately.  This one's better, but these 70s recordings by RCA are not a patch on the butt cheeks of the 60s Columbias.  Of course, he never recorded the 5th for Columbia so this one is it on that one.  Earlier I watched the Blu-ray of the Sibelius first symphony - that was fun as I enjoy seeing who's playing what in the orchestra.  The sound is a bit washy for my taste (you get a close-up of the clarinet player playing the opening but the sound issuing forth is more like it's from the middle of the house.  It's not bad, just not as detailed as I like - the performance itself and the conductor do a good job of it, but the more I hear the more I really think the Barbirolli set will end up being my favorite of the complete sets.

This afternoon I saw "The Secret Garden" at the Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC.  It was great.  Josh Young and Michael Xavier were wonderful as the Craven brothers.  And youngest ever female Tony winner Daisy Eagan played Martha, the housemaid, and was terrific.

That sounds like fun.

Diana Montague, the British mexxo-soprano whp plays Aunt Minnie on my recording of Roberta, is in Manhattan rehearsing for the Metropolitan Opera production of Romeo et Juliette.  I hoping she can go with me tomorrow night to see the Town Hall concert of Bright Star.

I read that was being streamed on TheaterMania.com. I may try to catch some of that.
