Well, you've read the notes, the notes shopped and were written on Sunday despite being Monday's notes, and now it is time for you to post until the shopping cows come home.

From yesterday:
Long rehearsal.

Yup...a lot of stopping and starting.  As far as I know, there wasn't a paper tech.  The director put the tracks into the sound board program, but it needed (and still needs) to be finessed.  I was able to work at it and adjust things on the fly, but fortunately will have more time tomorrow.

You must be getting really good at running the sound.  Finessing on the fly.  Very impressive!

It's a fairly simple program, but having the experience (as always) helps with being comfortable with making adjustments quickly.

In the list of Grammy winners, I noticed that two were won by a recording of the Ghosts of Versailles featuring Patricia Racette, who, if I recall correctly, is a friend of Fred's. or an acquaintance, at least. Elmore, too, maybe.

Anyway, I'm glad that piece has finally been recorded. Loved it when it saw it ages ago on TV.

ChasSmith - there are several cowbell passages in the sixth, but it's the one in the Andante (usually the third movement, although some conductors place it second), towards the end where there's a big swell into the main tune of that movement.

Maybe it was announced too close to the time of the broadcast and the Grammy producers might've felt that some people there in the audience might not have heard by then and would be surprised at hearing that he had died.

I read that the flu is hitting extra hard this year.  They won't know for sure until the season is over, however, it appears that the shot nailed it on the strain of virus.  A flu shot doesn't guarantee you won't get the flu but it should reduce the severity if you do get it.  After reading how hard the virus is this year I am glad the pharmacists talked us into getting the hi-potency vaccination.

Three or four years ago we had a particularly bad cold and flu season. I believe there were five viruses that were prevalent that season. I think that when this season is over we'll find that we've had at least three.

I was supposed to work from home morning, but my co-worker's son and husband have come down with the flu and she's not feeling too great herself. I know she had the flu shot

It will be interesting to see which ones they were.

You can take it during the day if you stay home and take care of yourself.

You will pleased to hear that I have contacted my boss and. Coworkers to let them know I won't be in tomorrow

Natasha and Pierre have seen the Great Comet of 1811-1812.  Her elopement with Anatole was foiled by her aunt, Sonia, and Pierre,  A very moving and heartbreaking episode.

Here is a true Facebook story:

Today, someone's post showed up on my newsfeed - check.  In it, he shared the same BS fake news story that many shared - blatantly false which two seconds on Google will tell you.  Now, during this past election tons of fake crap was shared on both sides of the coin.  And my reaction is always the same - stop it.  It helps NOTHING, and each time one side would do it the other would scream and yell and then - wait for it - do the same thing.  I tend to go after people when they do this - it doesn't matter what side they're on because that is not the point - check.  So, I call this guy out on it, not meanly (and I've been doing a lot less of it this year), but just linked to the proof it was fake and said it should come down because it was not, in fact, helping his side to spread misinformation - there is, believe me, plenty of real stuff to share.

Well, he posted a really nasty eff off response on his page, then came onto my wall and posed EFF YOU!  I removed that immediately and then posted on his page that I hadn't friended him, he'd friended me, but I was about to change that status.  As I posted I got the notice it couldn't be posted.  Why?  Because he beat me to the unfriend button.  Then he went to all my posts and began posting comments - not inflammatory, but sarcastic - I told him if I saw one more anything from him that I would report him for harassment.  He then accused ME of unfriending HIM, said he'd never posted the EFF YOU post (which I should have screen-shot first), and that he didn't know what I was talking about.  At that point I did the easiest and best thing - blocked him.  That way he can't see me and I can't see him.  What is wrong with these jerks?  He was in the wrong, he KNEW he was in the wrong, he didn't CARE he was in the wrong because it suited his point of view, but if anyone on the other side had posted something fake as real he would have been all over them.  THIS is what we've become and it stinks.

Well, I need to leave work and head to the theater.  I want to get there a little earlier than the cast so that I can hopefully finish the sound board cues.  I think the director will be there early, also, so I confirm what he really wants.

Be back later.

Unless I can link to Snopes, and it isn't political, I try not to comment even when I can prove it is wrong.  I know who the few are that I can question what they put up and have a comfortable discussion with.

Before Bullitt and before What's Up, Doc?, Hitchcock showed how to film the streets of San Francisco. Though the scene in Vertigo is more of a detective following his prey, it uses the same location that Bogdanovich later used to a much different effect in his comic chase scene.

Hitchcock also makes the scene unreal in the way that he makes all his car scenes. I used to hate those because they were so unreal, until I realized that he, of course, wanted them to be unreal. And in Vertigo, he makes you dizzy watching them.

I think a lot of my favorite films are those that have managed to portray a city, in wonderful and unbeatable ways, as one of the characters.

DR Elmore -- I'm probably a day late on this because I don't read the page every day, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate your tributes to John McGlinn.  The discussion arising from it on the Facebook CAST RECORDINGS page was most interesting, but it's always such a fine memorial, regardless.

How was your rehearsal?

Rehearsal for Playhouse Creatures went better tonight than last night.  I was able fix most of the sound board issues, but I still need to add one fade out and one scene change music...very easy to do, but the director needs to tell me exactly when they need to happen.

I'm fast-forwarding through the Grammy Awards to see how long it actually lasted because I only have three hours and 36 minutes on my DVD burner.

I just got through it and it turns out that with commercials, the broadcast was about 3 hours and 42 minutes.  That just means that I'll have to watch it as I record it so that I can fast forward through the commercials so that it'll all fit on my burner.  Not a problem. :)
