Nobody mentioned Al Jarreau's death on the Grammys? The news of that was out earlier in the day. That seems odd.

Maybe it was announced too close to the time of the broadcast and the Grammy producers might've felt that some people there in the audience might not have heard by then and would be surprised at hearing that he had died.

Just a thought. :-\

The coughing is much reduced which us why I think I will be able to manage the dentist

What about your sore throat?  Is the risk for an infection from dental work greater when you are sick?

ChasSmith - there are several cowbell passages in the sixth, but it's the one in the Andante (usually the third movement, although some conductors place it second), towards the end where there's a big swell into the main tune of that movement.

Got it.  Looking forward to hearing these later.  Probably tomorrow.

I was supposed to work from home morning, but my co-worker's son and husband have come down with the flu and she's not feeling too great herself. I know she had the flu shot

I read that the flu is hitting extra hard this year.  They won't know for sure until the season is over, however, it appears that the shot nailed it on the strain of virus.  A flu shot doesn't guarantee you won't get the flu but it should reduce the severity if you do get it.  After reading how hard the virus is this year I am glad the pharmacists talked us into getting the hi-potency vaccination.

I'm back from the dentist where Jeanne (no relation to our DR) tortured me.  But I'm clean, baby.  I'm clean.

I got the hi-potency flu shot, too.  They said that's what I had last year, as well, but I hadn't remembered that.

Vixmom, I've been there.  Twice.  BEGGING for the root canal.  "Bring it on!"  Vibes you achieve tooth relief today.

I went to urgent care this morning. Because of the sharp pain in my ribs.  They took chest X-rays and ruled out pleurisy, pneumonia and bronchitis and think I pulled muscles from coughing,, they did prescribe some cough medicine

With codeine?

Would the x-rays show if you bruised your ribs?  That is painful and can take months to heal.

Lucky me didn't have to wait and worry how you are doing.  I hope the novocaine is slow to wear off.

Since I write down what we get I know last year we had the quad.  This was the first time it was mentioned we are old and should go with the hi-potency ;D

Have any of our readers picked up The Secret History by Donna Tartt, the woman who wrote The Goldfinch?

The Goldfinch was my first Donna Tartt novel and it did not inspire me to read more of her books.  While I didn't dislike Goldfinch I was not in love with it as others were.

The first movie I took Bryan to will always be special to me.  It was "101 Dalmatians".   When I saw it was playing in the theater I knew it was a perfect first movie and we would both love it.

Joshie and I wrote the first 50+ bars of the overture today.  we will continue tomorrow.  I proofread a couple of things and we have lots to do before next Monday.  The orchestra reading is next Thursday. the 23rd, and we are trying very strongly to be on top of the deadlines for then.

Not a note.  Tam-tam, vibes and xylophones, and glockenspiel.  This is Cole Porter, not Gustav Mahler.
