Now I am listening to Mary Martin and the London cast of HELLO, DOLLY!
What might've helped [last night's opening night audience for TAO's 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche] may be becausetomorrow[today] is the Pride march here in Olympia. The cast of the show is going to march in the parade with signs advertising the show, so hopefully that'll drum up interest...and bring a greater awareness of our theater group
Great idea, George!
Happy birthday to George's Mom!
Happy Birthday to elmore's brother and George's mother.

I had never owned this nor the Bailey/Calloway recording until I bought both of them a few years ago. I love both recordings. :)

Me too. Other than THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X and THE LAST STARFIGHTER, I find it to be the almost perfect musical comedy.

TCB or George, have you ever worked at or seen anything at Second Story in Redmond, Washington? (I hear Redmond is 15 miles from Seattle.) They seem quite interested in including THE LAST STARFIGHTER musical in their 2018 season, assuming details are worked out, of course. They'd contacted BK and we referred them to the licensing company. We wouldn't be involved with the production, but if it's a multi-week run, I'd probably fly out to see it.
And again, thanks to Bk for the referral.
My late friend and publicity client, Dan O'Herlihy, co-starred in the movie (non-musical) version of THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

Garrett Lewis replaced Carlton Carpenter when he broke his leg in London during rehearsals, but I saw much o0f the London cast when the company played Cincinnati on its way to Viet Nam, Japan, and London. She was fantastic, aqnd the production remains one of the best things I ever saw.
I can't believe that with all of the recordings of Hello, Dolly! that I have, I have neither Pearl nor Mary.

Saturday morning greetings! Today is lasagna-making day. I'll assemble it and freeze it to transport to my niece's in Illinois on Tuesday. We're staying with her for 2 nights before heading to Chicago for ALA and we'll provide a nice dinner for one of those nights.

I'm up, I'm up - six-and-a-half hours of sleep due to late-night laundry. I did listen to the best Ravel piano concertos I've ever heard - part of the Cluytens box set, recorded in 1959.
I can't believe that with all of the recordings of Hello, Dolly! that I have, I have neither Pearl nor Mary.
Mine are the original LPs I bought back in the day. Haven't listened to either of them in years. Must get them out, clean them, and enjoy.
(A record cleaner makes all the difference in keeping vinyl around. Except for actual physical damage, which in my case is a rare thing, they work miracles. A true godsend.)

(So does having a record player.)
I need a nap.

Good luck this works out. I hope the timing will be good and we can meet you there.
I did the laundry, but my plans for cleaning may have to wait.
Nice photo, DR ChasSmith! Tell Mr. dePaola HELLO from a librarian - he's a favorite among us!
Great photo, ChasSmith.
Congrats to Jane and Keith on their new car purchase.
Maserati or Lamborghini?
I suspect Jane and Keith will spend the weekend going for a nice drive or two.
Not nice, Elmore. I'm glad I wasn't trapped in there.
We had to wonderful cats named Bogie & Bacall.

BK had played the roles of Grig (played on the screen by Dan O'Herlihy) and Otis in the New York Musical festival reading of the musical.
as mentioned in the Playbill article from back then

Tomorrow I meet up with author Tomie dePaola & Mother Dolores Hart & Co. for a rehearsal of the event next weekend in which I'm tickling the plastics with scene music. Details at http://abbeyofreginalaudis.org/visit-theater.html#tomie

Great names for a pair of kitties.
I received my copy of THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER in the mail. I don't think I have ever seen the film.
