Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a box and Raisinets, and now it is time for you to post until the boxy cows come home.

I very much like those round chocolates with the hazelnut in the center of a chocolate ganache surrounded by a thin wafer, coated in chocolate and covered with crushed hazelnuts ... I can't think of the name of them at the moment.

I am sure Jane hates them

From Yesterday

FJL posted the NY Times article how midtown has gotten back to normal now that all the Trumps are at the White House.

The article failed to mention what will happen once he's out of the WH. He has Secret service protection for the rest of his life as does his wife and the kid up to a certain age. So if he moves back to the tower the same problem will occur all over again.

Back in 2001, I co-wrote a movie for Roger Corman, RAPTOR, which was directed by  Jim Wynorski, a delightful fellow who specialized in directing movies that utilized previously shot action footage.

In the case of RAPTOR, we used dinosaur footage from three CARNOSAUR movies that Corman had made previously.  We even brought in a couple of actors who had been dinosaur food in those CARNOSAUR  films to shoot additional scenes.

What can I tell you?  A paycheck is a paycheck.

Interestingly, the score for RAPTOR is credited to Oscar-winner James Horner (TITANIC).  I'm not sure what earlier Corman film that was taken from.

Also of interest: When I do an autograph show, I get a lot of people who ask me to sign their DVDs of RAPTOR.

Raisinets have been a favorite since just about forever.  In my early moviegoing days, in the chocolate department it would either be Milk Duds (which I find horrible now) or Raisinets.  The last Raisinets I had were a box of the dark chocolate ones back around Christmas.  Yum.

Well, peoples, I have such an insanely full day ahead of me that I must wish you all well and take my leave till late tonight.

This evening is the rehearsal with Tomie dePaola and Mother Dolores Hart.  I must finish preparing my book and get the keyboard ready to take up and use there the rest of the week.  I had wanted to take the easy to carry one, but I need a couple of functions that only the more sophisticated ones have so the heavy unwieldy one it shall be.

The touted, dreaded day hotter than Sunday has arrived.  And it's 75 degrees outside instead of the 98 degrees we had on Sunday.

It's much hotter "inland", though, and I'm guessing that's what all the hoo-haw was about.  It's going to be a lot cooler around the Bay Area tomorrow, so I'm hopefully NOT going to be using the A/C this weekend (which starts for me in about 1 hour and 20 minutes).

What's wrong with watching?  It's the buying that can be the problem.

When I took out the recycling this morning I noticed a puddle under my front driver's side wheel. WHAT?! It was oily, too. Ugh! So I drove over to my auto repair shop. The owner took a few minutes to check things out, but everything looked fine. They were too busy today to spend any more time on it and suggested I return tomorrow morning, which I shall try to do. I then went back to Plan A and ran my Dollar Tree errands.

I like this repair shop. They really try to help you out. But there is no good time to put your car in the shop, IMO. It's never convenient. I might add that this business has a number of locations, one of which is in an office building. If you work there, THAT would be great.

Hello from the 20th floor of Chicago's Palmer House!  We upgraded to get a larger room with a view and vouchers for 10 free drinks in the hotel's venues.  We have a corner room with 2 windows.  From one we can see the marquee for HAMILTON, which we're seeing Saturday evening.  From the other, if you stand at one end, we can see Lake Michigan.

We unpacked and headed for North Michigan Avenue to do an errand at the Apple Store and to attend a gathering of University of Michigan School of Library Science Information alumni.  Came back here, had burgers and our first 2 free drinks, and now we've crashed for the night.

It was a lovely funeral.  Our friends uncle ( on his dad's side )  ) is a Roman Catholic priest,(BIL to the deceased) he presided over the service with our friends two children ( a boy and a girl , they are 10 months apart in age and in the same grade, they both just graduated 8th grade)  serving as the altar servants.  The deceased daughter in law and her mother each read one other lessons, our friend Jeff did the eulogy for his Mom and there was a small but talented choir

Back to the TOD:

There is a candy that was created in Louisville called Majeskas. They were named apparently in honor of a visiting actress.

Anyway, it's a crazy combination of marshmallow dipped in a caramel sauce that's got plenty of butter and vanilla in it. Mom's version is rolled in chopped pecans, which just lifts it to the next level. The candies are then wrapped in waxed paper until you eat them.

See's Candies has a version that's really irresistible.

Back from our run-through.  Set is looking pretty good - still not finished but better.  Run was strange - some very good stuff and some very not good stuff - I didn't give notes and will do so and run the problem spots before we do tomorrow night's run.  It all has to do with energy - both too much and then more frequently not enough.  It's a real tightrope act with this show.

Years ago, I went to a convention in Washington D.C.  When people asked me where I was from an I said Tacoma, Washington, I was amazed how many people said how much they loved that area.  It was only on the last day that I found out they all thought I was talking about Takoma Park, just outside of Washington D.C.
