Everywhere on the trip, gas was in the $1.95-$2.10 range, except Louisville, where it was $2.47 a gallon. What's up with that?

Last night, when Larry (my sister's boyfriend) was returning the moving van (and I was following in his car), he had to add gas to the moving van and he stopped at a place that charges $3.19 a gallon! :o After we dropped off the van and he was driving me home, we passed a gas station charging only $2.79 a gallon!  AND the two gas stations were only about 4 blocks away from each other!  What's that all about??

It all depends on what a definition of a flop is.

A show like Kiss of the Spiderwoman which ran 904 performance and didn't make back its money is considered a flop. While Merrrily We Roll along which closed after 16 performance is considered a flop as well.

No answer from the composer about that "Pirate for Hire" number,  It's irritating because I had gioed ro finish it yesterday. Now I'm a day off my schedule which was to scan all the finished Piano-Conductor scores to him on Saturday, and there will be one less than I'd hoped to send.

DR FJL, the company rehearsed Monday and they rehearse today.  The composer's wife is the musical director.  I receive daily schedules from stage management.  They're working and they clearly expect me to be, so answer my question, dammit.

I think there's going to be something on the ballot this year to ban fireworks within Tumwater city limits.  My niece would LOVE that because of her hearing condition.  Those kinds of sounds (and crowd noises) are physically painful to her...and there's no cure. :(

I had a busy first half of the day. A doctor's appointment, then several errands.

At UCLA, they often tell patients to arrive 30 minutes early. When I booked the appointment I questioned this, as there's never been any legitimate reason for it. The receptionist insisted there were a lot of forms to fill out, so I dutifully arrived early. The entire check-in process needed no more than 5 minutes. Such a waste of time! And, of course, parking is outrageous, so we're paying for an extra half-hour at sky-high rates. And they wonder why people are unhappy with their health care. This is just the beginning!

The doctor was pretty useless. I waited TWO MONTHS for this appointment. It wasn't routine; one of the values on my blood test was abnormally low. The doctor dismissed it--and my symptoms. this is why I go to alternative doctors. They actually do something. My acupuncturist gave me some herbs to take. I think they're helping, but they're kind of slow. I was hoping the MD could give me something that would help quickly. No such luck. I'll stick with the herbs.

DR Ginny, I'm glad your Izzy's is well loved. No one talks about our Izzy's--and with good reason: it's quite unmemorable.

There's an Izzy's in Lacey, about 7 miles from me, but I've only gone once.  It's just too far away to go during the day for lunch, and I'm rarely in that area in the evening.

The fixes to the "Pirate for Hire" were not so terrible, and I am at the moment caught up for tomorrow. That was a big relief.

Yes, the officer and the handbag, which is also the title of my next novel.  But it's not the officer that's actually getting the laugh, it's the expression that I make Doug as Inspector Hubbard do - it took forever to get him to do it right, but the laugh is huge and goes on for a long time.  The second performance he neglected to do the expression - and no laugh.  He learned a valuable lesson.

Plenty of fireworks here, but not at all like what vixmom was describing, and I heard nothing later than around 10 pm or so.  In this neighborhood we heard much more activity on the 3rd than on the 4th.

I think there's going to be something on the ballot this year to ban fireworks within Tumwater city limits.  My niece would LOVE that because of her hearing condition.  Those kinds of sounds (and crowd noises) are physically painful to her...and there's no cure. :(

This condition of her is horrible.  Does she wear headsets and listen to music on the 4th?

Listening to another set of Prokofiev symphonies - on Melodiya with Rozhdestventsky conducting.  This instantly puts all other sets to shame.  As great as the Walter Weller set it, this one is even better.  There is a power here that's unbelievable - raw, emotional, haunting, fun - and while reviews I'd read complained about thin, harsh sound - no, there is no thin harsh sound - this remastering is amazing fro these late 1960s recordings.  On the LPs they sounded ugly so maybe idiots just automatically assume that what they're hearing NOW is the same - note to idiots: It's not.

I picked up a block of dry ice and a case of ice cream bars, vanilla  coated with chocolate and crunchies and a surprise chocolate bar in the center

Sounds yummy.

Request they email you the forms, or to snail mail them if you make your appointment early enough.

Did your regular doctor refer you to this specialist?  If so speak to your primary, maybe you can run the test again to see if it has changed.

She's very popular around HHW, too, even without the ice cream bars.

That she is :)

Now I want an ice cream bar. A vanilla almond Haagen Daaz bar would be just fine.

Before reading this I had a Coffee Almond Crunch snack size bar.

You really wanna see Lestat, George?

Actually, yes...just to be able to say that I saw it. ;) And that cast:  Carolee Carmello, Hugh Panaro, Drew Sarich, Jim Stanek, and Will Swenson!  I love these people!

Vixter and I saw it, and you sister in law and her girls saw it a couple of weeks earlier .  Former DR Jose was in the orchestra and arranged a backstage meet and greet with Hugh Panaro for my niece.  Unfortunately. Vixter and my tickets were for the closing performance and there were no back stage festivities that day

Weren't we at the same performance?   I remember the lack of festivities somehow.   But Jose did spend time with us.

Oh yes, that's right, I think Jose gifted the Vixter with a Lestat shirt
