THE LAST OF SHEILA
Good morning DR ELMORE.
Good morning DR ELMORE.
Good morning, DRs JRand66, ChasSmith, and JohnG!
T.O.D.
I'm currently reading a biography of Peter O'Toole, so we'll probably watch THE STUNT MAN and, possibly, MY FAVORITE YEAR, this weekend.
And, if we're not O'Toole'd out: THE LION IN WINTER.
DR ChasSmith, enjoy the show tonight. I'll work until 8, watch my PBS Britcoms, and go to bed.
Good morning DR ELMORE.
Good morning, DRs JRand66, ChasSmith, and JohnG!
And top o' the morning to you, Messrs. Elmore, Jrand66, and John G.!
TOD
I was slightly influenced by DR John G. mentioning this one and I'd already heard good things about it, so: the new Criterion release of The Marseilles Trilogy. Blind buy at sale price, never seen it. Don't know how soon I'll get to it, but it's here and waiting for me.
And now, if you are enamored, for any reason, of any of these films: Run -- don't walk -- to acquire Blow-Up, Ghost World, Straw Dogs, They Live By Night, and Ozu's Good Morning. In my ever so humble opinion, these are fabulous transfers, with fabulous extras, every one of them worth the wait for proper HD Blu-ray treatment. This is Criterion at the top of their game. I love Criterion, but I accept that they can let their pants down a little on something once in a while. Not here. These inspire the cliche, "why, it's like seeing this film for the first time".
I'm going to want something lighter, like my gardening book. Though I'll probably settle for Greek tragedies. Cheery stuff.
Happy Bastille Day, y'all.
Somehow, I don't think the cafeteria is having French food for lunch. Probably not even French dressing for a salad.

Is French dressing really French?

I was hoping that George would report in on his opening night.
Great news, George.
Perhaps he is still enjoying the deli-style dinner after the show.
I hope the show was good for DR GEORGE as was the deli style dinner afterwards for $15.
I've done 3 radio shows this week to talk about my new novel, JACKIE GOES TO DIXIE, and I'm already booked for 2 more next week.
The one question that the interviewers always ask is: "During your years as a Hollywood publicist, you represented many famous comedians (e.g. Jack Carter, Jackie Vernon, Stanley Myron Handleman, etc.) and you knew several others (e.g. Don Rickles, etc.). Which one is your central character, Jackie Moss?"
My answer: "None of them. Jackie Moss is an original character, but he would not exist if I hadn't known them."

Oddly enough, I've never seen My Favorite Year. But as long as I'm lauding Criterion, those others are two I wish were in their hands.

A vinaigrette with mustard in addition to the oil, vinegar, salt and pepper is. Not that orange-y sweet stuff.
Good morning. Eagerly waiting for news from George!
I recognize two of the signatures - director and composer....but I can't make out the other two.......
Happy Bastille Day, y'all.

And are french fries?
French toast?
French onion rings?
These days I am not reading anything as heavy/challenging as Proust. I began reading SECRETS OF A CHARMED LIFE. It takes place in England jumping between the present and WW2.
DR George I am glad you had a good evening. May tonight be even better.

I never heard of French onion rings. I have seen French's onion rings ;)
I went for a nice swim this morning. More often than not I have the pool to myself. Last time I had to share it but at least the other person was an adult doing laps as well. This morning it was all mine again :)

I haven't swam since the summer pool opened. But I have done aqua fitness quite a few times.

I'm currently reading "First Lord's Fury," book 6 of 6 in the CODEX ALERA series by Jim Butcher while patiently waiting for the latest Dresden Files book to become available again from OverDrive. I was reading that when I lost my previous Kindle. :P
Congrats to DR GEORGE on his successful opening night, and continued vibes for the second night!!!

I still have the first book of the Dresden Files on my to read queue.
Did the book automatically return to the library before you purchased a new Kindle?
Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.

Well, because I had/have/use a specific Kindle device, what I do is check out the Kindle books through OverDrive, download them from Amazon by the "Transfer via computer" option (through a USB cable and save the file directly to my Kindle like flash drive or external hard drive), then instantly check in the title in Amazon so that the next patron doesn't have to wait at least a week to get the title. It's then instantly taken off my OverDrive account, too. I never turn on the Wi-Fi and sync my Kindle with my OverDrive account. That way, the OverDrive books NEVER go away! I can take as long as I want to read them and keep them on my Kindle forever (well, as long as my Kindle doesn't die or get lost ;) ).
This option, of course, doesn't work for Kindle apps on other kinds of devices.
So great to hear George's opening night went well!
We got a write-up, and I'm mentioned!
Musical theater again fills Olympia’s Capitol Theater (http://www.theolympian.com/entertainment/arts-culture/article161045774.html)!

Nice article, familiar face George.
Back from the theater - worked on the murder and got it sharp again, then I stayed through the murder - it was actually a really good performance, so I was pleased - about a half house, which, in this theater, looks great.
Feeling like crap tonight.
I had their Four-cheese Mac and cheese with chicken. It was nasty.
George, I am glad the show is going well.
Was tonight's show better than Thursday's show?
