I went for a nice swim this morning.  More often than not I have the pool to myself.  Last time I had to share it but at least the other person was an adult doing laps as well.  This morning it was all mine again

I haven't swam since the summer pool opened. But I have done aqua fitness quite a few times.

I think that is more difficult than swimming.  I do a few, mixing them in between laps.

These days I am not reading anything as heavy/challenging as Proust.  I began reading SECRETS OF A CHARMED LIFE.  It takes place in England jumping between the present and WW2.

I'm currently reading "First Lord's Fury," book 6 of 6 in the CODEX ALERA series by Jim Butcher while patiently waiting for the latest Dresden Files book to become available again from OverDrive.  I was reading that when I lost my previous Kindle.

I still have the first book of the Dresden Files on my to read queue. 

Did the book automatically return to the library before you purchased a new Kindle?

These days I am not reading anything as heavy/challenging as Proust.  I began reading SECRETS OF A CHARMED LIFE.  It takes place in England jumping between the present and WW2.

I'm currently reading "First Lord's Fury," book 6 of 6 in the CODEX ALERA series by Jim Butcher while patiently waiting for the latest Dresden Files book to become available again from OverDrive.  I was reading that when I lost my previous Kindle.

I still have the first book of the Dresden Files on my to read queue. 

Did the book automatically return to the library before you purchased a new Kindle?

Well, because I had/have/use a specific Kindle device, what I do is check out the Kindle books through OverDrive, download them from Amazon by the "Transfer via computer" option (through a USB cable and save the file directly to my Kindle like flash drive or external hard drive), then instantly check in the title in Amazon so that the next patron doesn't have to wait at least a week to get the title.  It's then instantly taken off my OverDrive account, too.  I never turn on the Wi-Fi and sync my Kindle with my OverDrive account.  That way, the OverDrive books NEVER go away!  I can take as long as I want to read them and keep them on my Kindle forever (well, as long as my Kindle doesn't die or get lost ).

This option, of course, doesn't work for Kindle apps on other kinds of devices.

Had a good run-through, although Kay was marking vocally to rest her voice.  But I finally did something about the one thing that was bugging me - we have a sequence that's three sections, that has to do with love.  Then we do a "happy" medley because she does so many ballads.  That was followed with no patter setting it up by a put-together of two ballads.  It's never felt right to me where it is, but today I figured out why and where it needed to go.  So, we're cutting a song in the love section and inserting the put-together there, where it actually makes complete sense and fits, then the "happy" medley, and right into the patter that leads us into the final song - much better flow-wise and story-wise.

I watched this series (two 90-minute episodes) many years ago, I believe on PBS. I liked it very much then and felt it really held up well.

Listening to the music of William Bolcom, which I'm finding rather delightful.  His more "serious" works can be acerbic a la Stravinsky, but his tunes are amazing.  On one of the CDs I had there's an orchestral suite called Seattle Slew that had me humming along with my toes tapping - utterly charming and tuneful.  The two symphonies I've heard (one and three) are very interesting and I liked them very much.  Now listening to the violin concerto.

Shortly I shall be on my way to the theater to clean up a murder scene.  I'll then determine whether I'll stay or not - depends on the size of the audience - this morning both tonight and tomorrow night seemed very light, but people usually book last minute.  If there's half a house I may stay for a couple of acts - if not, maybe I'll see it tomorrow night, or maybe I'll just wait till next week.

We just finished watching THE STUNT MAN.

When it first came out in 1980, I thought it was terrific; one of the best pictures of the year.

It's been over 15 years since I've seen it, and watching it tonight, I was disappointed. 

Yes, there are some memorable moments and Peter O'Toole is marvelous.  Indeed, it's worth seeing the movie just to watch him.

But the picture itself meanders and overall, I don't think it, as well as some of the other performances, hold up.

Thus was the 1977 movie ethnic Elizabeth Taylor, Dinana Rigg , they cut out half the music  and those that were Kept were sung badly
