Well, you've read the notes, the notes dialed 'M' for Mancini, and now it is time for you to post until the dialing cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LUCRIFEROUS!
-
First post after BK!
-
Good very early morning from me.
-
Hope Nick Redman is getting better.

My niece is getting married today. Where has the time gone?

My niece is getting married today. Where has the time gone?
Congrats to your niece, Michael!
-
And a Happy Birthday to (former) DR td!
-
Just a further clarification - the distortion I hear in the Leinsdorf Prokofiev piano concertos isn't that horrible now that I'm listening more carefully - definitely there from time to time and I'd guess that may be a result of a too hot mastering. These same performances were also licensed to a label called Testament and people say those masterings are better - but I don't trust anyone on Amazon saying anything.
-
Well, if this doesn't make you smile and appreciate what musical comedy is all about, nothing will - I'd never seen it before and now I want to recreate it in its entirety in a Kritzerland show. The only problem being who on earth could do the dancing within a country mile of Miss Verdon? https://youtu.be/MxdmCL9XJ64
-
Have I mentioned that when I hear Senator Susan Collins, it sounds to me like she's channeling Gwen Verdon (her voice, not her politics)?
-
vixmom - I thought your posts last night were really interesting (at least until you told us they weren't :) )

My niece is getting married today. Where has the time gone?
Congrats to your niece, Michael!
Ditto.

HOW TO SELL A BOOK:
Amazon had one copy left in stock of my memoir, LIFE, LIBERTY & THE PURSUIT OF HOLLYWOOD.
Yesterday afternoon, I posted this on Facebook:
"Read about my 'XXX' encounter with Rock Hudson in my memoir, LIFE, LIBERTY & THE PURSUIT OF HOLLYWOOD. :)"
Now, that one copy has been sold.
I guess they’ll now have to order more.
;D ;D ;D
-
Good morning, all!
-
I got more sleep time than usual, and that's fine with me.
-
Around 11, I will head down to Times Square. This is the last performance of Backbeard, and I want to thank everyone and say goodbye. Suzy, our violinist, leaves tomorrow for a Madrid vacation, and I must wish her a safe trip.
-
We have another BACKBEARD review:
http://t2conline.com/nymf-backbeard-the-musical-captures-childrens-imagination/
-
Interesting review mentioning EVERYTHING but the orchestrations.....lots of auto correct in there, too - at least I hope the writer didn't make those mistakes!
-
Shoulder vibes for DR JANE.
-
Show vibes for MR BK & Co.
-
The original 1976 mini series RICH MAN, POOR MAN is on all day today on RETRO TV....I think I may watch it.....
-
Thank you.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Spamalot was totally enjoyable, and a beautiful evening in a nice park was had by all.
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep.
-
I'm up because the phone rang at ten - twice.
-
DR td,

Happy birthday to td!

vixmom - I thought your posts last night were really interesting (at least until you told us they weren't :) )
I am glad to hear it, I feel like I lead a very dull and mundane life compared to the rest of you lot. I'm thankful you all tolerate me here

Congratulations To your niece and her spouse

We have another BACKBEARD review:
http://t2conline.com/nymf-backbeard-the-musical-captures-childrens-imagination/
Very nice, I am sorry I didn't get to see it
-
It would be nice if when praising the music the reviewers would mention those that made it so nice
-
I ran the full coffeehour today for the first time in months
-
I was chatting with one of the girls of the congregation, she is entering high school this year and she mentioned she was interested in going into forensic science as a career . I asked how she made that choice (expecting her to site CSI or Bones) and she replied, much to my surprise, the story of the Black Dahlia!
-
She asked if I was familiar with it and I told her about BK' s song in LA Now and Then
-
Even more to my surprise she looked it up on YouTube on her phone immediately
-
She loved it.
-
So you have a new 14 year old fan on Long Island, Mr. Kimmel
-
House work and laundry must be done lest I go to work tomorrow in a burlap bag and the health department condemns the joint
-
Amazon delivered my copy of the book of The Last StarFighter
-
I must see about getting it autographed
-
Perhaps some of these "reviewers" would mention the orchestrations if they were actual reviewers - that word has lost all meaning. Most of what's posted here is from bloggers who do this to get free tickets or who just do it to get people to read their stuff. It's the same everywhere now. You think I take ONE of our Dial 'M' raves seriously? How can I? They're nice to get and I'm happy to share them, but I have no illusions about them actually meaning anything other than, like most of our audiences, they enjoyed what they saw. I think we had one review written by someone who actually does that for a living, and it was a very good review but not a rave for the play itself.
-
I suppose I should jog right about now.
-
I must see about getting it autographed
Autographed to you personally, or would you prefer just the authors' signatures?
-
I ended up watching the show from backstage and I said goodbye to everyone except Matthew McElligott, whom I wanted to thank for the prodigality of his book signings.
-
DR vixmom, I loved I, Claudius and Claudius the God when I read them in the late 1960s. Are you enjoying it?
-
Good afternoon!
-
Happy 106th birthday to Lucille Ball!
-
Ah....well.....I lost my shadow today. Precious went to the Rainbow Bridge at 1:45 p.m.
I will miss her very much. I always sang "You are my sunshine" to her....and it was very true.
She'll spend one last night here at home and then go on her journey.

Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog.
-
According to HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, one of the best reviewed films thus far this year (DETROIT) bombed at the box-office this weekend.
Is Hollywood losing touch with its audience?
I think so.
-
I'm so sorry, JRand.
-
I must see about getting it autographed
Autographed to you personally, or would you prefer just the authors' signatures?
To me personally , I hope. I hope to get another trip in to NYC in the not too distant future. It will you be in Mineola again soon?
-
I was wondering if you were asked to make Louis' number a little less risqué for this publisher but I didn't notice any changes
-
DR vixmom, I loved I, Claudius and Claudius the God when I read them in the late 1960s. Are you enjoying it?
Very much . I didn't realize there was a second volume. I was wondering how I could be so far through the book and have Tiberius still on the throne
-

I am not familiar with unfortunate enchiladas ...but I have made Lets not try that again chicken

Thanks, all. Vet thought she was having side effects from her glaucoma drops.....

My heart is aching for you
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Jack, I'm so sorry. IIRC, Precious wasn't a pup when you adopted her. Do you know how old she was? She had many very good years with you--and you with her.

Ah! We have the miniseries but I never really paid attention to the fact it was two books. I just bought a copy if Claudius the god from ebay

Vixmom, your life is quite interesting, I think. Perhaps that say something about mine. :)
If I may paraphrase DR Ron, one's life should not be measured by how many loads of laundry one does.
-
So you have a new 14 year old fan on Long Island, Mr. Kimmel
You might want to recommend WELCOME TO MY WORLD to her, Vixmom.
-
House work and laundry must be done lest...the health department condemns the joint
Oh, are you having an inspection, too? :D
-
Our hot weather is winding down--and I hope it stays that way. The nights have been too hot for sleeping.
-
I have been tossing and cleaning. All of this I'd planned to do anyway, but I'd prefer to do it at my pace, not on one imposed on me. And seeking legal advice.
-
Re the elevator nonsense:
Larry, did you not say that the elevator was condemned and they then put in a new one? So the new one's malfunctioning?
Vibes it gets resolved PRONTO and you have no more problems with it!
-
Kudos to you on BACKBEARD!

LOL. I've heard Senator Collins' voice, but I can't recall it distinctly. I'll have to look that up. I rather like Sen Collins, BTW. There's lots we don't agree on, but when certain politicians got their knickers in a twist, she spoke up and cut out the nonsense.

The elevator system needs replacing. The old one is running with bandaids and the landlord is dragging its feet about beginning the installment of the new one..

Sunday evening greetings! I went to church with Richard today even though I didn't feel like it for several reasons. Because I'd been awake since 5am (not by choice), I had to have a nap when we got home.

DR JRand, I'm so sorry to hear about Precious...

I was wondering if you were asked to make Louis' number a little less risqué for this publisher but I didn't notice any changes
The version that just came out is designated as suitable for middle-school age and older.
https://youthplays.com/play_details.php?play_id=466
YouthPlays will be publishing a separate "Family version" within the next few weeks. We just answered their proof notes on that version the other day. In particular, the "Zandozan" number and the "Spring Break" number in that version are suitable for all ages.

I don't think middle or high school kids would have any issues...their parents however...

It'll be interesting to hear what you think of the all-ages version.

I've been at home all day, watching TV shows recorded on my DVR. I should also have been doing laundry, but I didn't. ::)
-
I will...eventually. ;)
-
But now, I need to take a shower, get dressed, and go to my sister's and help her move a book shelf. It shouldn't be too difficult or take too long. Later tonight, my friend Margo and I are going to my friend Michael's house to watch "Game of Thrones" outside. He projects it onto the side of his workshop. He's shown movies like that before, so we know it'll work!
Be back later.

I made it to Louisville.
-
The drive took a little more than 16 hours. Heavy rain for maybe more than half.
-
Not fun.
-
JRAND, I am so sorry to read about Precious.
-
Elmore, I'm sorry to read about the elevator.
-
Listened to Tropic of Cancer on the way here. Campbell Scott read it. Extremely unpleasant, misogynistic book. It had its interesting moments but it just wasn't enjoyable.
-
Good night, all. I'm exhausted.
-
Not fun.
Not at all. I am glad you arrived safely.

Good evening!
-
My computer is really slow tonight.
-
It is operating like my brain.
-
Back from a wonderful show - full house, raucous crowd (about which more later), and the singers did great.
-
Of course several of us went to Little Toni's afterwards.
-
Page four? Really?

REALLY?

Is this really Sunday?

One more post.

Tomorrow we tie the record for most days without rain in the Northwest.
-
51 days
-
We look to break the record without any problem.
-
Elmore, congratulations on the reviews and the entire production.
-
It was a bit cooler here today.
-
I think we were in the low 80's.
-
It should stay in the low 80's all week.
-
I should have worked on the book today, but I was just not feeling up to it.
-
I am feeling old.
-
Congratulations Michael on the wedding of your niece.
-
Why is my computer so slow?
-
I hope BK's show was a huge success.

I'm home. Tonight's "Game of Thrones" episode was quite exciting. The only problem with watching anything on the side of Michael's workshop was during the dark scenes. Even though the "screen" was white, it was still difficult to make out details in the dark scenes.
Fortunately, there weren't too many.
-
Back from a wonderful show - full house, raucous crowd (about which more later), and the singers did great.
That great, BK! Can't wait to read about it!
