Well, you've read the notes, the notes were stately, and now it is time for you to post until the stately cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NUMISMATICS!
-
Good morning.
-
Second post after BK!
;)
-
Just got home from a night nature event. Lots of moths, a few snakes, and a tarantula.
-
Fourth post after BK!
-
I just got home from a very long birthday dinner.

I just got home from a very long birthday dinner.
Not likely that I'd know the person but whose birthday?
-
Mine and my friend, Tracy Pinero.
-
Mine and my friend, Tracy Pinero.
Nope. Don't know her...or is Tracy a him?
-
No, it is a she.
-
I hope you both had a good time.
-
Yes, it was a very nice evening.
-
Our friend, Martin, cooked up a huge Mexican dinner from scratch.
-
Then we watched DAMN YANKEES and INTO THE WOODS.

Then we watched DAMN YANKEES and INTO THE WOODS.
Great double feature!
-
Yes, except it was about a five hour marathon of Broadway musicals.
-
Martin was the guy who directed that play about the transgender woman at OLT last season.

Yup...there is that.
;)

Cool. I'm really sorry that I didn't get to see that.
-
Today is my dad's 79th birthday. We're all getting together at my parents' house at 1:00 pm. For the birthday meal (and I hope my dad actually wants this), we're going to a local Mexican food truck. Hopefully, it'll be good.

I've always wanted to stop at one of those here in Tacoma. I just don't know how you find out which one is good.
-
Happy Birthday to your father!

I would guess that you could keep track of which specific truck you might see, and if you see it frequently and with people around it frequently, it could be a good one. Just a thought.

Happy Birthday to your father!
Thanks, Tom!

I suppose that is as good of a way as any.
-
Well, Tom, I need to go to sleep now.
Good night and have a good day!
-
Our friend, Martin, cooked up a huge Mexican dinner from scratch.
Yum.
-
Happy Birthday to the Father of DR George 🎁🎉🎈
-
Good day, George.
-
Hi, Jane!
-
The disadvantage of being out so late, is that I couldn't begin taking my pain medication until I got home.
-
That means I have only had two pills and the pain doesn't subside enough for me to sleep until I have the third pill.
-
I have several friends who take pain medication (even oxycodone) that take their pills and still drive. I just won't do it, even though my first dose in the evening is only a single pill.
-
Congrats to Robert Yacko and to BK on how well the show is going.
-
Happy birthday to George's father!
-
So now I can either turn out the lights and stare at the ceiling until it is time to take another pill, or I can just keep playing Gin Rummy on the computer.
-
Good morning, Fred.
-
BK - We dropped a copy of the published book (we sent you the whole-Family version) of the "Last Starfighter" to you, care of the Kritzerland address - so when you get an envelope from us, that's what it is..
-
Good morning (?), TCB!
-
We plug and reference the Kritzerland cast album a few times, both in the book and in the piano-vocal PDF that's ent out for perusal.
And wouldn't it be great if having the book (and some productions) out there generate some sales (I guess the best is by download) of the Kritzerland CD.
-
Pain be gone vibes to you, TCB!!!
-
Pain be gone vibes to you, TCB!!!
Thanks, FJL.
-
I guess I will go and play some more Gin Rummy.
-
Good morning!
-
Happy Birthday to DR George's father!
-
Sounds like you and your Mom had a great time yesterday, DR vixmom! I'll definitely make my way to the Signature Theatre to see A Little Night Music.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am rather down at the moment. I've been reviewing my current financial situation and I may cancel my Ohio trip.
-
I was so depressed that I preferred to stay in bed most of the day. After an hour of self-pity, I decided to get out of bed and call Randy. That's next on today's agenda.
-
Non depression vibes for DR ELMORE - the weather is too lovely for that! And you are not wearing a bag on your side!!! Things could be so much worse!
-
Driving home vibes for DR VIXMOM....loved reading about your fun-filled day!
-
What is the new WHAT IF for the new Kritzerland show? I wonder....
Congrats to DR RYACKO on his "first date" and hurray for Lucie Arnaz!
-
Happy Birthday to the father of DR GEORGE!

That's true, but I'm still not happy about the situation.
-
Happy Birthday to the father of DR GEORGE!
Ditto!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Non-Depression and Financial Relief VIBES for DR Elmore.
-
An embarrassing confession --
I have always carelessly conflated The Quiet American with The Ugly American...neither of which I have seen or read.
In so confessing, I hope to have taken the first step in straightening out this mess once and for all.
-
In the meantime, I need to order that Sam Fuller -- STAT.
It sounds like it belongs right up there with The Naked Kiss and Shock Corridor, and I am SO up for that.
And down with that, while I'm at it.
-
I'm afraid I have little else of value to say at present, other than...
Welcome to Page Two.

Happy Birthday to the Father of DR George 🎁🎉🎈
Thanks, Jane!

Good afternoon, all.

Happy birthday wishes for George's dad.
-
Anti-depression vibes for Elmore.

Happy birthday wishes for George's dad.
Thanks, John!

RIP, Jerry Lewis.

Quick check-in:
Am ever closer to being ready to move. Still have a way to go, but I'm seeing light at the end of this tunnel.
Meanwhile, I'm at a loss to keep up with all the goings-on that reveal our country is in utter chaos, politically and socially.
One person to thank for this, and it really doesn't seem to be Steve Bannon, although he was a part of it.
-
FWIW: I love Edward Elgar! His "Enigma Variations" is one of my favorite compositions (especially the "Nimrod Suite").
-
RIP, Jerry Lewis.
It was eventually (soon) to be expected, but this one was nevertheless a shock.
One of those for which you say: end of an era.
-
When I heard it (just a minute or two before DR Ron posted it), I googled, in the half-hearted hope that it might be one of those hoaxes. Oddly, none of the major papers had posted it yet. Didn't take long, though.
RIP, sir.
-
RIP, Jerry Lewis.
I hadn't seen that, but I did a search and found this:
http://variety.com/2017/film/people-news/jerry-lewis-dies-dead-nutty-professor-1202533899/
91 years old...definitely a long life.
-
And now, I need to get ready to go out into the world and celebrate my dad's birthday.
Have a good day, all!
-
I understand DR ELMORE....completely.
-
Sad news about Jerry Lewis and Dick Gregory both.
-
Good to see you, Ron. How are you enjoying the retirement part?
-

Welcome to Page Two.
Your counting skills need help, just like mine. :)
-
I'm up, I'm up - ten hours of needed sleep.
-
Jerry est morte. Loved him and his movies when I was a kid. And never really didn't like him - I've heard the tales, but I always thought he was funny and a good actor. Ninety-one is a very long run.
-
Vibes and xylophones for elmore.

If anyone wonders, I'm tired.
So tired.
I'm taking care not to overdo it, but my couple of intense hours a day require a remaining 22 h ours to recover. Glad I started way back when I did, or I wouldn't be able to do it any time soon.
-
I'm thinking I'll be out of here sometime during the first full week in September.
I think.

-
I never got Jerry Lewis.
-
I started watching the latest BBC version of The Turn of the Screw starring Michelle Dockery (Downton Abey's Lady Mary) but the screenwriter's "improvements" were so pathetic that I gave up in disgust after around 45 minutes. It was absolutely dreadful, missing all the ambiguity of the Henry James story that Jack Clayton's The Innocents caught to perfection. The Miles was really charmless, Mrs Grose's part in the stroy was divided between her character and a maid Clara, who is mysteriously thrown from the tower and who might have been raped by Peter Quint (I'm not making this up!), and the whole mess was set around 1920, beginnign with the Governess in a mental asylum. Dockery was fine, but that was about it.
So, I watched all three hours of Return To Cranford to see the BBC do something close to perfection. I hadn't watched it in a couple of years and it was a fantastic antidote to Henry James manqué.
-
Got some food from the Gelson's hot food bar - just a bit of pasta and chicken enchilada.
-
Who did this Turn of the Screw adaptation - the same idiot who did Witness for the Prosecution?
-
Picked up a package, too, with my Colgate Optic White toothpaste, which I used to get at Costco.
-
Listening to Ellington 65, another Ellington cover of hits of the day - this one's better than Ellington 66 - guess I like these songs better (well, not Danke Schoen) and I like the arrangements better, too. Sound is amazing - originally on Reprise.
-
Who did this Turn of the Screw adaptation - the same idiot who did Witness for the Prosecution?
Sandy Welch. I was surprised to see she's married to playwright Stephen Poliakoff.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Welch
I actually liked her BBC adaptations of Emma, Jane Eyre, North and South, and Our Mutual Friend very much. She sure missed the boat on Turn of the Screw!
-
That adaptation sounds pretty awful DR ELMORE!
-
DR RLP - sounds like the plans are on point!!! September is a great month to start in a new place.....just like we used to start school!
-

I can understand that. I would not take pain meds and drive. Do you have to wait 4 hours between each pill?

I liked the BBC versions of Emma and Our Mutual Friend that you mentioned but I'll stay far from this.
-
Randy just called me and he and Jo have offered to ease my financial stress about this Ohio trip. I have to think about the mess and talk to him tomorrow.
It's very kind of them. I also spent the afternoon putting out feelers about possible work.

It is about time you reported in ;)
I know too well how overwhelming the moving process is. I am glad you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
IMHO, there is no way you can do what is required to move and keep up with all the political goings-on ;D

I watched North and South because I liked Cranford so much. It's quite good.

Getting close for sure. Can you get any help?
ENERGY VIBES FOR YOU!

So did we, and then "Wives and Daughters" which was also very good.

Yesterday, out of the blue, I was wondering how Jerry Lewis was doing and thinking it was amazing he was still alive with all of his health issues.
Keith had already put his last movie, THE TRUST, into our Netflix queue.
-
DR elmore I am sorry you had to cancel your trip.
Thanks. I'm not sure it's officially dead yet. I'll explain after I talk to Randy tomorrow.

Well, we all had a good time celebrating my dad's birthday...essentially, nothing different than our regular weekly family dinners, but this time he got gifts. :)

Page four? Really?
-
We watched Will Rogers and Bill Robinson in In Old Kentucky tonight. Robinson's dancing was phenomenal. Rogers was charming in his last movie, and it was largely entertaining despite a blackface sequence in which Rogers had to try to dance like Robinson.
-
Let's move on...
-
Five?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Page five? Really?
-
I've been on my computer, trying to convert a couple of mkv files to something that I could burn onto a DVD, but every program that I've found that can convert, makes the audio and video in the resulting file not be in sync! I've tried four different (I'll confess: free) programs, and they all either get out of sync or they don't work at all. :P
-
And on that note (D-flat), I'm off to my friend's house to watch "Game of Thrones" outside!
Be back later.
-
Good night, all.
-
What in tarnation is going on around here? Page five? Really?
-

That isn'the something one pictures Rogers doing. I never did understand blackface and simply found it strange.
-
I'm home.
-
Next week's "Game of Thrones" episode will be the season finale
-
Good evening!
-
Sorry I'm late.
-
I've been watching for the eclipse.
-
In case it shows up early.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Hi, George.
-
I'm watching "The Great American Eclipse" on the Science Channel. It's really interesting. They're also going to have live coverage tomorrow morning, then have a wrap-up episode tomorrow night.
