Well, you've read the notes, the notes were in the garage and an adventure, and now it is time for you to post until the adventurous cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: TATTERSALL!
-
First post after MR BK!
HA!
-
I must be up watching Mannix and Cannon and 77 Sunset Strip on ME Tv.
-
I'm waiting up to see the revised video - hopefully coming soon.
-
STONE KILLER was just on TCM last week - it is OnDEMAND now - perhaps I shall watch it.
We are expecting temperatures in the 90's for the next five days....so there's not much else to do.
-
TOD:
House of Wax
Man With a Camera - tv series
The Mechanic
10 to Midnight
He and his wife Jill Ireland also for a time had an option on Frances Farmer's "autobiography" for her to star in - but they couldn't get the financing.....which is probably a GOOD thing.
-
DR JENNIFER those are beautiful butterflies - I have never seen any of them around these parts.....
-
FULLER AT FOX arrived Friday in Indiana.
Clearing the garage vibes for MR BK & Helper.
-
And that's enough me on this page....except to send cat adoption vibes to DR ELMORE.
This is a Quinn Martin Production.
-
There's never enough you on this page.
-
Still waiting for the recut. I suppose I might be up another hour.
-
But Sunday I can sleep as late as I want and I will!
-
Listening to William Alwyn symphonies - love his music.
-
Page one? Really?
-
Get me off this Geraldine and Victoria and Patti Page.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
FJL's ever-lovin' Skipper has two numbers in the Kritzerland show - a ballad from The Last Starfighter, and our put-together of She Dies/Time and Time Again from Time and Again. We've done the latter before but not in a couple of years and it just fits this show so well.
-
I cannot imagine that anyone gets more spam mails a day than the likes of me - between three of my AOL addresses it must be two hundred or more. I never see spam in gmail.

Very nice. I'll tell him when he wakes up!
-
What are you doing from Brain?
-
Thanks, TCB and Jane, for your comments last night.
-
TOD: Charles Bronson movies.- My favorite is From Noon till three
-
T.O.D.
FROM NOON TIL THREE
DEATH WISH
THE GREAT ESCAPE
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
-
Good Morning To All
-
TOD
I have never been a big Charles Bronson fan. With the exception of one movie I like his performances where he was a supporting player.
The Great Escape
Once Upon a Time in the West
The Magnificent Seven
and as Druxy and FJL mentioned
From Noon to Three. (However, I hated that ending)
It was such a different film from all his other films that he did from the 70's onwards. He should have played more roles like he did in that film.
His roles IMHO were basically interchangeable. Different names and places, but the plots were basically the same.
-
Good morning!
-
TOD: I don't think I've ever seen a Charles Bronson movie.
-
This is from one of BK's Kritzerland concerts a few years back:
"Hello and Goodbye" the theme from "From Noon Till three"

Are we almost off this page?
-
Looks like page 2!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It was a night of many dreams. I only remember now the first and last ones. The first began at a party of young executives and ended with a ghost, flickering lights, doors closing on their own accord in my grandmother's house when I was four years old or younger.
-
DR Jennifer I apologize for not commenting on your butterflies last night. Ithe is interesting and I am sure you are enjoying them 😊
-
In my last dream I was around sixteen, in pajamas, in the house where I grew up. We were waiting on family for a reunion. One of my brother Randy's German shepherds from 2017 was with me and went bananas when there was a knock at the door. Someone we did not know walked in with two small boys. I asked who that man was and someone said it was Ed Weiser to see your dad. It was an agent from Buddweiser about some legal action.
-
I want to go to a pet event uptown this morning.
-
DR Laura, I found Bella and Belle on Anjelliclecats. I liked Belle much less than Bella.
-
I cannot imagine that anyone gets more spam mails a day than the likes of me - between three of my AOL addresses it must be two hundred or more. I never see spam in gmail.
I never used to get any spam in gmail. But once it starts getting through then you get a lot of it. I don't get tons. But there can easily be 10-20 messages when I wake up in the morning. I wish gmail had a way to block the people that send the same so they can never message you again.
-
DR Jennifer I apologize for not commenting on your butterflies last night. Ithe is interesting and I am sure you are enjoying them 😊
I am obsessed with them. I didn't realize that they would be leaving this week. We have super warm temps scheduled for another 4 days (like 90s). So I am going to make sure to go to the lake to see them as many times as I can.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Feels like a Sunday. Because yesterday started feeling like a Saturday, especially the evening. But I have tomorrow off so that should feel like the real Sunday it is.
I know how fascinating this is to all of you.
-
Speaking of Sunday,
DR ELMORE -- my NYC errands have no timetable, so if it's convenient to meet at any particular time, let me know. Or if during the week is better, I can do that.
-
Sorry to hear our DR vixmom has been having a lousy week.
I totally understand that, and here are some VIBES it all turns around.
-
Any more I Do! I Do! news?
-
It opened to a quieter audience than the preview audience had been, but it went well. I know we have a lively bunch of theatergoers tonight, so that should be fun. Then, a few days off!
-
The FULLER AT FOX set looks great, and I shall be giving it a proper listen soon.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Jennifer, I loved the painted ladies. I hope I see some butterflies in the backyard this fall.
I was shocked this morning to find that my Mexican love vine, which I thought had died in last winter's really deep freezes, is growing again. When it flowers, it attracts butterflies, moths, bees and hummingbirds alike.
-
TOD:
A few to add to the list:
Breakheart Pass
Jubal
-

Tomorrow's fine. I want to check out this event but I don't expect to be out later than 2:00. It's supposed to get up to 90F and I would just as soon be home in the AC as the housecleaning continues.
-

I totally understand that, and here are some VIBES it all turns around.
Ditto!
I'm waiting to be surprised by news that she's had an easy week. Real estate is booming here and my brothers and I can't get rid of that goddamned Ohio property!
-
I have to go to this pet event uptown soon, but I just fell in love with this Siamese mix on Craig's List.
-
I'm up, I'm up - maybe three hours of sleep - just could not fall asleep. Hopefully just being in bed and still helps?
-
From Brain we're doing Here on Earth and Good Girl/Bad Girl.
-
Saturday morning greetings - just under the wire before noon EDT!
-
I'm going out to do some errands and plan to be home for the big college football double header that interests the Palmer women. Both Big 10 teams from Michigan play in Indiana this afternoon/evening. Michigan's at Purdue at 4pm and Michigan State's at Notre Dame at 8, both on Fox Sports (not my favorite). Go, Blue; Go, Green!
-
All right, dear readers, I've just created the Levi Facebook page - lots of fun stuff will be going on there so please follow the link, "join" the page and "like" it while you're there.

It took over two days for MACC to respond to my inquiry about a couple of cats on their site. One was adopted and little Sycamore is out today on adoption patrol in the Bronx, 10 miles away. He's so adorable, I'm sure he'll be adopted today. If I'd known this yesterday, I would have traipsed over and made a desperate bid to adopt him.
-
So, I had a successful outing, learned that the animal rescue folk always arrive with their perts for adoption around 2:30PM. It;s too warm, so I will pass going back today or checking other places tomorrow. I'm still not really ready to bring a cat or cats into the apartment yet. Give me another week.
-
This could be a William Self production.
-
Have just returned from lunch at the Edgefield Pool Room where I dined on two delicious hamburgers and some fries with my mother, my Aunt Doris and childhood friend Joan Timmerman King and her husband Michael. Lot of their friends were there, as well. It was a fun lunch time.
-
Looks like page 3, to coin a previously turned phrase.
-
My "Fuller at Fox" set was in today's mail.
-
When I moved here from L.A. in 1989, I had already learned of North Shore Animal League through -- I think -- their advertisements in TV GUIDE, and I'd even made some small contributions from out there.
A year later, after I'd gotten well settled into my apartment and life in general here, I decided it was time for a kitten or two. I never gave it any thought, I just hopped in the car and drove down to Lawn Guyland and up to Port Washington, and spent an amazing couple of hours at North Shore looking at all the cats that were there that day. I'd already prepped the jernt with a litter box in anticipation of having success there, and sure enough, I did. I had no idea what I was in for because I'd never adopted from any place like that, but all went well and that night I had two of the most adorable little girls living with me, who would be wonderful companions for the next 17 and 18 years.
-
BK, I am also a NON-fan of chicken Marsala. Every time I've tried it, it seemed like rubbery chicken being smothered in a not-so-tasty sauce.
-
I have to go to this pet event uptown soon, but I just fell in love with this Siamese mix on Craig's List.
Beautiful! I've now had several varieties of cats, but never a Siamese -- and I know I'd love one.

I can go along with this as well. I love chicken prepared in any number of ways, but Marsala rarely sounds, or looks, like my kind of thing.

When I have time to dig them out, I'll scan their baby pictures with them still wearing their tags from North Shore.

DR Elmore, since you've changed your mind about going over there tomorrow, how about I show up around 1 pm? Or just name a time that's best.
I've decided to take the train in, and I can carry the gold in one of my trusty canvas bags. The other person I was going to see (it's not a visit, they're just returning something to me) will meet me at Grand Central later.

Congrats on your Mexican love vine growing again, John!

All the pictures of the kittens are so cute!! ;D

I have to go to this pet event uptown soon, but I just fell in love with this Siamese mix on Craig's List.
Beautiful! I've now had several varieties of cats, but never a Siamese -- and I know I'd love one.
My parents had a stray Siamese. My niece, who was probably four years old at the time, named her Happy, "Because she's a happy kitty!" :)
-
;D
-
I am loving ALL of the kitty pictures!
And I loved the story from DR CHAS SMITH....I am tempted....yes I am....but I think it's too soon yet.....
-
Well, I must be off. I'm going to my parents' house for our weekly family dinner (we missed last week's dinner, though).
-
Then this evening, I'm volunteering for The Washington Center for the Performing Arts' CENTER STAGE AWARDS & GALA (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/gala2017/). At some point, I'm supposed to help during the live auction, but I don't exactly know how. We'll see when I get there!
-
Until later.
Have a good day, all!
-
Had an omelet and a bagel and then had part one of the garage adventure. My back is now so sore - not from lifting, but from standing and going through a TON of boxes - we threw away at least fifteen boxes of crap - some stuff I'm keeping is going to the storage facility. But holy moley on rye, some of the stuff I found is amazing - lots of Bay Cities correspondence that I only wish I'd had last week because I would have used at least one of the many Claus Ogerman letters I found. I found even more letters from Robert Ward, a couple from Ernest Gold, Jack Beeson and one incredible note from her nibs Georgia Gibbs. Stuff from Tony Walton and Byrd, Claibe Richardson - just faboo. I think for the Indiegogo campaign I'll put up one or two of my original scripts for TV shows I did - do you think those would sell? Fun, but I'm exhausted.
-
I think scripts would ALWAYS sell!
-
Weather wise we are having a perfect day. I am back into shorts and a t-shirt without being hot.
-
We are expecting temperatures in the 90's for the next five days....so there's not much else to do.
We are too. And it is glorious!!
-
Good afternoon.
Wae-Ling and I spent the day at a nature event manning the butterfly table. So many small children.
-
We get painted ladies here. I think they are native to pretty much all of the United States.
-
While in shock that the word dotard is confusing to many I find this quote funny.
“By making people look up the word #dotard, Kim Jong Un has done more for American education than Betsy DeVos,”

TOD

I agree.
The Great Escape
The Magnificent Seven
-
Adding more perks, some really fun ones. More coming tomorrow, and then I'll save some to add during the campaign.
-
I have lots of things to scan and share - I found unbelievable stuff, including a telegram from dear reader Jeanne sent to me in March of 1965 as I was opening The Unsinkable Molly Brown at Bluth Brothers Theatre. How's THAT for being a packrat?
-
I'll have two Laverne and Shirley scripts available, as well as a Donny and Marie Show script and perhaps a script from the show Ghost Story (aka Circle of Fear).
-

Manhattan's painted ladies used to hang out on 42nd Street, but not any more
-
I was right. Little Sycamore is no longer on the web site, so he must have been adopted today. I'm happy, but sad.
-
Page four? Really?

Larry's doing major housecleaning, BK is doing major tossing. Today I did one of the mini projects that I'd hoped Pablo could do, but he didn't have time: I tackled the shower grout. It kept bugging me to look at it, so today I did it. I can only do a little at a time these days. It looks so much better!
-
I really should get rid of more books, but they're so difficult for me to toss! I would like to do more clearing out before the end of the year.
-
I was right. Little Sycamore is no longer on the web site, so he must have been adopted today. I'm happy, but sad.
You'll find another one you love.

Here's a question for you, Bruce:
If Bluth Bros theatre were still around today, what, if anything, would you do differently? Do you feel that there's the quality of talent today--along with the work ethic--to do what Don and Fred Bluth did?
-
We get painted ladies here. I think they are native to pretty much all of the United States.
Apparently they usually fly very high when they go past this area. I don't recall ever seeing them. But the weather the past few weeks has been so unbelievably hot. We had 1 week of Fall weather and then it has been 80s (which is very abnormal). I didn't get to go see the butterflies today. But will go biking tomorrow.
-
And speaking of Don Bluth, will you be letting him know about Levi? Are you in touch with him at all?
-
I don't actually "toss" books. I donate them to one of the local libraries for their book sales. It's easier to get rid of them; they're going on to a new home.
-
TTFN.

I have to go to this pet event uptown soon, but I just fell in love with this Siamese mix on Craig's List.
Want!!!

We had a Siamese when I was growing up we named her Fa-ying after the young princess that died at age 8... I have no idea why But she was a wonderful cat. Easily trained. And she "talked" she had cries that sounded exactly like "out" "no" "eat" "mom" and used them appropriately ...
-

Get rid of books? I don't understand what that means.

Owning 6 copies of a book because everytime time you see it at a thrift shop or garage sale you remember that you loved it? Well, yeah, of course.
-

I have many a friend and relatives who found their fur babies there

This morning vixdad and I got ourselves are prettied up for the church directory picture day event.
-
We went in 2 cars as we had the first appointment of the day and while Vixdad was leaving right after the pictures I was staying
-
I worked as the check in person from 10 - 1:30
-
Here's a question for you, Bruce:
If Bluth Bros theatre were still around today, what, if anything, would you do differently? Do you feel that there's the quality of talent today--along with the work ethic--to do what Don and Fred Bluth did?
I do feel that and have been trying to it for over a decade. But it costs money, one needs a space - I had all the right ideas and one person specifically who saw the original prospectus ripped it off wholesale save for the one thing that actually made it work - he took HIS version of MY plan into the toilet within a year and stiffed hundreds of people.
-
The youngest of the lady who has done 95% of the heavy lifting on this project had a soccer game today and she asked if I would help out
-
We also had a funeral at 1030 for a longtime church member that we both wNted to attend so we agreed to split the service she attended the first half and I the second half
-
Ray was 88 years old and has been one of the ushers at the 9 am service every Sunday for probably the last 50 years ...although he had been fighting cancer he was still there every Sunday, in fact he was there the last Sunday I was at church before we wNt on vacation , Labor weekend...
-
The church was packed ....it won't seem the same tomorrow without Ray handing me a bulletin with his usual greeting "how are you today young lady?" The same greeting every Sunday since I was 9 years old
-
I feel so sorry for his "lady friend "... She is also a long time member of the church... They both lost their spouses more than 20 years ago from cancer and became close at a church run grief group ...they never married as it would have meant the loss of her widows benefits from her deceased husbands pension and health program but we all viewed them as a married couple. I've known her foreve too, her son and I are the Sam age and we're friends in Luther League though we lost touch after high school graduation when he went away to college
-
Funnily enough when the Vixter was in middle school his wife was her home ec teacher ...
-
But I digress
-
I know, how unusual
-
After I was relieved at 130 I set up the church for Saturday night service and handed home for lunch with Vixdad
-
Back from a nice second performance, which comes with a nice story.
(I know I'm interrupting vixmom's story with this story, so I'll just put it here for your reading pleasure and show myself out.)
An older couple was talking with people afterward. Turned out it's their 50th wedding anniversary (I don't know if they meant today, exactly). It's the show's 50th anniversary. It's the theater's 50th anniversary. Anyway, they went to NYC on their honeymoon and saw the show with Mary Martin and Robert Preston, and that experience stayed with them through the years. This year the wife did a little digging to find out who would be mounting I Do! I Do! She chose ours and somehow got her husband up here from North Carolina on some pretext -- and wasn't he surprised when they walked into a little theater tonight and saw their honeymoon show for the first time since.
-
We ended up at a Panera where I had the 1/2 and 1/2 : a cup of autum squash soup and 1/2 sandwich of roasted turkey with cheddar on cranberry whole wheat bread
The soup was great the sandwich was skimpy ...
-
It was not our usual Panera I hope to have a heartier sandwich at our usual place.
-
I've liked a couple of things I've had at Panera, but I know what you mean about the occasional thing being skimpy.
-
Vixdad had the turkey chili in a bread bowl and also received a skimpier portion than usual
-
I like a hearty sandwich.
-
A laurel and a hearty sandwich.

Much better than my Panera tale
-
Much better than my Panera tale
It was a little skimpy.

Followed by a laurel and hearty handshake
-
Much better than my Panera tale
It was a little skimpy.
Mine always are. But I spread them out over a gazillion posts and they just seem longer
-
Especially to those suffering through them
-
Speaking oif anniversaries Vixdad and I will be celebrating our 30th next month
-
I realize that is just a drop in the bucket to the likes of Jane and Keith who have been married since preschool
:)
-
But one of the perks of suddenly reroute for our holiday was that we ended up in the Poconos which is where we spent our (short) honeymoon
-
Vixdad's family members traveled respectively from England and Canada and arrived a week prior to our wedding and didnt leave until the Tuesday after and since w curd only each take 2 weeks vacation time and since Vixdad was changing his work visa fir a green card and couldn't leave the US we opted for the "Honeymoon Capital of the World" as it then billed itself
-
We stayed in one of those champagne tower suites...some may say it was cheesy or hokey. But there is a lot to be said for a secluded suite in the Pocono mountains in October when fall foliage is at its best and your suite has a fireplace, double shower with built in seats that converts to a steam room, a huge whirlpool tub overlooking the livingroom, a private heated pool, sauna and massage table and a king size circular bed and they deliver breakfast to your door
-
You had to go to the main dining room for dinner which of course was when we noticed the foilage
-
Well alas the honeymoon capital is no more there are deserted and burned out resorts all around. But we discovered our place was still up and running and in good repair
-
We drove through the grounds reminiscing

Well I have to be at church in 7 hours so. Nighty night
-
I thought I might have had the pleasure of chatting with TCB or George... Oh well
-
Love and vibes to all

I have lots of things to scan and share - I found unbelievable stuff, including a telegram from dear reader Jeanne sent to me in March of 1965 as I was opening The Unsinkable Molly Brown at Bluth Brothers Theatre. How's THAT for being a packrat?

Larry's doing major housecleaning, BK is doing major tossing. Today I did one of the mini projects that I'd hoped Pablo could do, but he didn't have time: I tackled the shower grout. It kept bugging me to look at it, so today I did it. I can only do a little at a time these days. It looks so much better!
We need to regrout our shower. It is not a fun job. It must be more annoying when the landlord should be doing it, not you.

I realize that is just a drop in the bucket to the likes of Jane and Keith who have been married since preschool
:)
;D

We stayed in one of those champagne tower suites...some may say it was cheesy or hokey. But there is a lot to be said for a secluded suite in the Pocono mountains in October when fall foliage is at its best and your suite has a fireplace, double shower with built in seats that converts to a steam room, a huge whirlpool tub overlooking the livingroom, a private heated pool, sauna and massage table and a king size circular bed and they deliver breakfast to your door
Nice and the Poconos are lovely.

Good evening.

Cat adoption vibes for DR Elmore.

Well, I'm home and can only assume that the find raising gala at the Washington Centervfor the Performing Arts was a success. I didn't count the money.
;)

It was very well attended! They had a raised floor covering the orchestra level seats that was at the same level as the actual stage. All the tables were on that expanded stage. I had no idea that they could do that!

That's so cool, BK!

I don't actually "toss" books. I donate them to one of the local libraries for their book sales. It's easier to get rid of them; they're going on to a new home.
I was just going to ask about that! :D

That's terrible!

Ray was 88 years old and has been one of the ushers at the 9 am service every Sunday for probably the last 50 years ...although he had been fighting cancer he was still there every Sunday, in fact he was there the last Sunday I was at church before we wNt on vacation , Labor weekend...
Vixmom, my condolences to you, and to his lady friend. :(

That's so sweet!
