Well, you've read the notes, the notes were fun but hardly final, and now it is time for you to post until the fun cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DUCKY!
-
First post after BK!
-
Good night.

Tom (or anyone else), would you like a DVD copy of She Loves Me?

Tom (or anyone else), would you like a DVD copy of She Loves Me?
Yes, please!
You got it!

I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning to all
-
DVRed She Loves Me. Will watch it later sometime during the week.
-
Next Friday on PBS Live From Lincoln Center "Falsettos" will be shown. I saw it this past summer when it was shown in the theaters.
Beautifully done and acted.
Only complaint (But it didn't bother me as I don't know the show well enough) is there were lyric changes for the Broadcast.
Is the show as powerfully as when it was first produced? Hard to say from my perspective. I only knew a couple of people who had died from AIDS at that time and I lived in Canada where it wasn't as prevalent.
-
Good morning!

YOD: "Best fried chicken ever. Where? When? What was so great about it?"
Usually, I'll say food faves only as "Other than Skip's" - but fried chicken is really a Skip specialty. I have no idea how he makes fried chicken so well, but I must assume it has to do with the individual care he gives to the meal he's making over the mass quantities that other places make.
The next best in my memory was at Kosher Country, both at Brooklyn College and also on Surf Avenue in Coney Island, and not just because I'd worked there for a while in my teens. In comparing it back then to KFC or Popeye's or even sit-down restaurants, I've wondered if the chicken being Kosher had anything to do with the quality.

I watched the first part of She Loves Me. And really liked it, since I love the songs. My only negative comment would be the age of the cast. They seem so old for these roles. But I do love listening to Laura Benanti and Jane Krakowski!

Good morning, all.

Best fried chicken? I doubt it’s the best, but I usually love fried chicken from some independent gas station while I’m on a road trip. It messes up the car, for sure. But it’s usually hot and crisp with just enough crunch when you bite into it.
On these last few road trips to and from Louisville I had to make several stops for it because it’s JB’s favorite food and helped keep him calm.
-
Yesterday, I approved the audio of my one-person play, (Clark) GABLE, performed by George Utley.
Assuming there are no technical issues, the radio-like drama (with music and sound effects) should be available for download via audible.com, Amazon and iTunes in 10-14 days.

Mom’s fried chicken was pretty darn good, too.
-
T.O.D.
I used to love Colonel Sander's fried chicken, but several years ago I gave up fried foods altogether.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I need a job. The Loesser edit will not begin for several weeks, and I have no other work. I will do no more work on the Ballet Ballads until I hear something from my employer, and my life is too idle at the moment.
-
I have no plans for today. I must clean Annabelle's litter box and vacuum, and then I will lie around and feel sorry for my life.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I've been trying to bring back something of the dream I had last night. It was a solid one, but it won't come into focus. It wasn't anything exceptionally great, I'm just curious as to what in the HELL it was.
-
Check and job vibes for DR Elmore.
-
Three months ago, I thought I was working on The Pajama Game at Arena Stage, and I was convinced that we would record The New Yorkers before too long. Well, do not count chickens, they say.
-
DR John G.: Fried chicken from independent gas stations? Why don't I ever see this? Is it a regional thing?
-
I would like a job, too, please, in case anyone's handing them out today. Something a little more regular and substantial than what I've been doing. Have to think about this.

What I really want is another foundation to sponsor reconstruction and recording of classic musicals. Since that seems highly unlikely, I could use a good lottery win to begin my own foundation.
-
First good news of the day: Annabelle discovered her scratching post. I hope this means my cushions and luggage are now safe.

Page 2 Dance!

Vibes for DR ELMORE.....what about the Fred & Ethel Mertz Foundation they're always talking about on PBS?
-
Wonderful notes....I think the casting idea is sound....and continued vibes for Mr. Richard Sherman who has brought so much joy and happiness and thought into the lives of MILLIONS of people....think of that MILLIONS!!! We are lucky if we reach a few thousand people in our lives....and he has touched MILLIONS!!!!!
-
Like DR DRUXY, I like Colonel Sanders fried chicken....and still do from time to time. And like DR CHAS SMITH, it is available at various venues around here such as gasoline stations and convenience stores if you get there at the right time of day.
Of course my mom's fried chicken is a favorite.....but right NOW, actually, our local WalMart has a broasted chicken that is GREAT....I buy one now and then..... The local famous cafeteria Gray Bros. also has good chicken, but their mashed potatoes and green beans are not always a good match....their MEAT LOAF is the BEST!
-
Dammit now I'm hungry.
-
I liked SHE LOVES ME last night, but was disappointed in the Perspective staging....I loved the stacking, and I thought the magic box trick just fell flat....
And the guy playing Maracek was more Joan Crawford than anything....not so hot....everything else was fun though....seemed a bit less exuberant than the previous revival. I love the Boyd Gaines revival recording....it is my favorite....produced by some guy we know...
-
I'm up, I'm up - six hours of sleep, I guess.

TOD:
When I was about 10 years old I had the best fried chicken I'd ever had at a friend's aunt's house. I asked for the recipe and they said they just used Bisquick for the batter. So, my little 10-year old self made fried chicken with Bisquick, and it didn't taste anything like what I had at my friend's aunt's house.
I'm not a big fried chicken-eater, but I did enjoy Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles...before they got sued.
-
I love the Colonel's secret recipe herbs & spices and the extra crispy chicken, but that's pretty much all we have around here. Popeye's isn't in this area. No Roy Rogers either, but I've heard theirs is pretty good - if they indeed still have chicken, not sure. Still want to try Roscoe's.
Must be other chicken jernts I'm not thinking of.
-
All that needs to be accomplished - litter box, vacuuming, garbage to basement - has been accomplished. And I have a wide open afternoon.
I got a fantastic book yesterday, and it has wonderful advice about dealing with picky eaters.
-
I have had no word about Archie, so I am assuming my application bit the dust.
I was thinking that I need to calm down about another cat. there will be kittens for adoption through early December, and I may find one I really want by biding my time and making occasional forays to various adoption places in the next month.
-
I'm more worried about a job at the moment.
-
Is your new full time employer going to allow you to moonlight?

-
Is your new full time employer going to allow you to moonlight?
She will if she wants to continue to eat!
-
LOL DR ELMORE.
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! Richard and I attended the quarterly memorial service at Mom's retirement community this morning. It was very Methodist and sweet.

Excellent job vibes for DR Chas, DR elmore, and anyone else who needs them.

DR John G.: Fried chicken from independent gas stations? Why don't I ever see this? Is it a regional thing?
Maybe it is. Probably a Southern thing.
-
TOD - I used to make good fried chicken, when I was more interested in cooking than I am now. Now I buy it from Kroger or Lee's Famous Recipe, a local chain.
-
I never thought a whole lot of fried chicken outside of my home. I did not particularly care for the Colonel's. I would have to say the best fried chicken was really boasted chicken from the place on the corner when we lived on Ventura Canyon. Interesting, I never had broasted chicken anywhere else.
-

I think this is a good idea.

No check again today!
I am beginning to wonder if I have been terminated and not informed.
-
Hmm, I got curious about how "local" Lee's is. They seem to be midwest and southern regional - and British Columbia :)

I am beginning to wonder if I have been terminated and not informed.
Well, I'm not.
I just got an email. They are in Budapest till Oct. 28. While this holds up a check, I am more than ecstatic that all is good and things are fine. I just need to juggle things till the dust settles.

:) :) :)

Good news! I find that just knowing a situation that I've worried about is okay is more than half the battle.
-
New IS news DR ELMORE!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I've been busier than I prefer and not with anything interesting, just stuff that must be done.
-
I enjoyed being the Vix wedding photo. A lovely one, indeed. I was surprised to see that Vixdad had facial hair back then. I had assumed that it came later.
-
Good to hear you have nothing to worry about the check not coming yet, Larry!
-
John G, thanks for the information on THE DURRELLS... I found it on Netflix and have put it in my queue.
Great photo, too. You are looking quite youthful.
-
Recovery and healing vibes to TCB's sister.
-
Healing vibes to Jrand, Jane, John G, Elmore, and anyone else who needs them.
-
George, I'm amazed you've never been to a laundromat. Like you, I have some oversized items that need to be taken one day. Ugh.

I had no idea that gas stations cooked fried chicken.

It's like that old joke about the restaurant-gas combination business that had the sign "EAT HERE AND GET GAS."

Yes. I was wondering if the gas fumes enhanced the flavor.

"Would you like a little diesel sprinkled on your food?"

Speaking of food, I read that Elon Musk's brother, Kimbal Musk, also a billionaire--and a chef--has opened a number of farm-to-table restaurants. One is called Kitchen, another Next Door. He purchased 300 acres of a former cotton field next to one of them to use as an organic farm. It'll be interesting to see where this takes him. He certainly has the money to get things going.

I wonder how he feels about restoring old musicals.

TTFN.

I wonder how he feels about restoring old musicals.
LOL!
Dear Jeanne, have you seen this PBS series A Chef's Life?
-
Had bacon and eggs, met with Grant, and picked up no mail or packages, and am listening to disc two of our new release - these are all archival sounding from 78s, but disc two sounds even better than disc one so far - amazing really. If I end up thinking disc two is better-sounding all the way, I may make most of that disc one :)

It was a beautiful day in the nation's capital. A little warm for October, but I guess I shouldn't complain.
-
Thank you DR JEANNE.....for some reason I have been VERY tired today....whew!
And of course there's the wedding next week.....
-
Got a little bit of pasta from Gelson's hot food bar and now I'm in for the evening.
-
Good evening.
-
No fried chicken for me again EVER. I have been stuck on my weight loss ever since I ate two pieces of fried chicken about three weeks ago.
-
Writing away on the liner notes. I finished a little more than half of them and will try to finish the rest tonight.

Page three? REALLY?

Really?

Page four? Really?

Am visiting my co-writer Bonnie for the weekend in San Angelo.
-
Beautiful drive. Gorgeous western scenery.
-
Listened to the beginning of Stephen King’s new novel with his son, Sleeping Beauties. Scary stuff. Women start forming cocoons when they fall asleep.
-
For dinner, we made crab-stuffed flounder with scallops on the side. Fun getting a chance to cook again. (Bonnie did most of the work.)
-
Indiegogo went up 1% today, so at least a tiny bit of action but still haven't covered the fees, let alone have gone up to attempt a cast album.
-
Good evening.
-
A stormy Saturday night in the Northwest.
-
Mostly rain this evening.
-
Not as windy as earlier this week.
-
Beautiful drive. Gorgeous western scenery.
Nice. Did you takes any photos of the scenery?
-
My sister remains in the hospital for a second night.
-
Internal bleeding and very severe pain.
-
They started giving her blood.
-
This afternoon they gave her more morphine and she asked that no one visit, so that she could sleep.
-
I will go again in the morning.
-
Beautiful drive. Gorgeous western scenery.
Nice. Did you takes any photos of the scenery?
Nope. Maybe on the way home.

Vibes for TCB’s sister.

Page four? Really????

Listening still to our next release - completely addictive I must say. It's a two-CD set and I have to figure out what to charge for it - 19.98 or 23.98. I almost priced the Crucible lower but I'm so glad I didn't and frankly it outsold the last three soundtracks we did.
-
Tomorrow afternoon I am going to the theater.
-
Vibes for TCB’s sister.
Thank you, John.
-
The play is ALL THE KING'S WOMEN.
-
It is about women who were touched, however briefly, by Elvis.
-
My friend, Sharry, is in the show.
-
It is supposed to be a comedy.
-
We shall see.
-
Sharry has really enjoyed the production.
-
One more post.

I'm sorry.
-
But I really need to go to sleep.
-
I have to be up bright and early tomorrow.
-
I was hoping the George would be home by now.
-
But it is family dinner night.
-
Again, I'm sorry, but good night.
-
Well, today's been a day! I had callbacks for Cinder Edna. Again, only four men (including me) were there, but one didn't audition last week, and one from last week wasn't there today. I was still the oldest of the men, so unless they go in a totally different direction for the king, I'm feeling pretty confident...but it won't kill me if I don't get cast. You never know what could happen. :)

I have one friend with full-blown AIDS. He was diagnosed with HIV I think 29 years ago. He's been in the hospital recently. :( I have another friend who is HIV positive, but I've never known anyone who has died of AIDS.

I watched the first part of She Loves Me. And really liked it, since I love the songs. My only negative comment would be the age of the cast. They seem so old for these roles. But I do love listening to Laura Benanti and Jane Krakowski!
Funny...I was watching part of it tonight and was specifically thinking that it was great that they cast people who weren't too young.

Tom (or anyone else), would you like a DVD copy of She Loves Me?
Yes, please!
Yes, please, too!
Got it!

Yesterday, I approved the audio of my one-person play, (Clark) GABLE, performed by George Utley.

GREAT NEWS, LARRY!!

Well, after the audition, I went to my union meeting. I didn't realize it, but our president was appointed interim Public Manager (or something like that) and she's now exempt and no longer in the union. The current vice president was nominated to be our president (she accepted the nomination) and now we have a new president. We also now have a new vice-president, so we're complete. :)
-
After the meeting, I went to my parents' for our weekly family dinner (tortilla soup and pumpkin pie...not combined together) and we played the requisite Phase 10.
-
When I got home, I started organizing a couple of my CD boxes. I found a few things that I wasn't really looking for but glad I found, but I still haven't found one specific CD that I was looking for.
-
I'm pretty sure that it's somewhere, but I may just buy a new (or at least, gently used) copy. Good enough copies are available on Amazon for around $10.
-
It wouldn't be the first time that I bought another copy of something...even on purpose. ::)
;)
-
Then I came up into my bedroom to finish up the DVD of She Loves Me and that's when I watched most of act 1. It's just such a delightful show that I couldn't help myself.

And now, I'm ketchuping on all of today's posts. ;D

George, I'm amazed you've never been to a laundromat. Like you, I have some oversized items that need to be taken one day. Ugh.
The bed cover that I needed to wash is one that I never use. My mom gave it to me with some sheets that I rarely use, but it's so big and bulky that I had it just on the floor in my extra bedroom for years gathering dust and...things. :P
-
Since the room was getting cleaned, I figure that the bed cover should be cleaned, too. I knew that it was too big for my washer (another reason that it was in the extra bedroom on the floor), so I decided to finally go to the laundromat. Being there with my friend Shelly made it fun, but now that I've been, I can certainly go again, if I need to.

I wonder how he feels about restoring old musicals.
What's the worst that can happen? He'd say no. But if you don't ask, there's no possibility for him to say yes!

Ditto!

~~~Quick Recovery Vibes for TCB's Sister!!~~~
-
On a happier hospital happening, my sister's boyfriend Larry should be coming home tomorrow, after being in the hospital for three weeks! FINALLY!
-
One CD that I wasn't looking for but glad that I found was Love Lives On (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000002SRX/) by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus! I've had this since probably the mid-1990s but I don't think that I realized until just a few years ago that Larry did many of the arrangements!
-
Here's the cover:
Well, I hate to do this (no, I really do), but I must go to sleep. I'm going to my sister's tomorrow to help move some more (hopefully, not too large) furniture. She had wanted to go to IKEA, but with her boyfriend finally leaving the hospital, she'll have to get him settled back into his house.
-
Good night, and have a good day, all!
