Did anybody watch RAY DONOVAN last night?

SPOILER AHEAD

I can only assume that they'd planned that to be the final episode of the series, and shot it before they were renewed.

So, next season, we will learn that that final scene was a dream sequence.

DR JohnG, the Maguire Sisters were from Middletown.  One of them - Phyllis, I think - dated my Uncle Paul when they were in high school.

Being active in local theatre means that sooner or later - someone needs EVERYTHING for a show or an audition.....or you need a picture in a book - although the inter webs can solve that SOMETIMES.....

It's another wet day here, so I doubt Annabelle will have any bird watching today.  She's making up for that by running madly around the apartmetn and, best of all, she's playing with her toys.  If it has feathers, she'll play with it.

Title: Re: BOXING DAY

That's right.  A tree fell.

It was one that we'd seen dying just this year and we were planning to have it removed.  Well, now we don't have to do that.  It removed itself.

The only issue being that it removed itself in the direction of the house, and it swiped the gutters.  They're easily replaced, of course, but it's also at a place where there are skylights over the kitchen area, and it had obviously compromised a seal somewhere because there was a little bit of water there this morning.  I have no idea what the extent of the repairs will be, but I'm letting the insurance handle it.

In fact, I'll be calling Mr. Insurance Man.....

If anyone else wants to give it a listen, go to the Cast Recordings Page on Facebook. Under Files, there’s a whole slew of files, including Shogun the EP, a single from Got Tu Go Disco and a few British shows. I started to listen to something called Mr. and Mrs., based on two Noel Coward one acts with John Neville and Honor Blackman.

Oh, oh DR Chas.  I hope you get someone out quickly who knows how to remove the tree properly.

In this case, the tree removal is nothing.  It's of a size we can cut up and get rid of ourselves, and the stump is no issue.  I'll post some photographic evidence later.

What I want is for them to take charge of the inspecting and repairs so that it's all done right.  If the tree isn't one we can use for firewood (I'm not sure) then their removing it would be welcome, too.  But in this particular case it's only the condition of the house that's of concern.

Claim made.  It's not an "emergency" so they'll be coming out within three days to inspect.

Considering the home I have now is the biggest place I've ever lived in and it's also where I've lived the longest, I have accumulated waaaay too much stuff, especially in the garage. What would take months is sorting out what I use from what I don't use. I don't plan to do that until I'm 90 and forced to move into assisted living. And then I'll probably hire someone to do it.

Robert Yacko's show was spectacular last night! Lots of Sondheim, which I loved. I especially enjoyed "The Road You Didn't Take," which isn't done very often. "Bury Me a Little" was also another favorite for me.
Title: Re: BOXING DAY

This TOD is too big for me to handle.   :)

But yes, I often want to chuck it.  Not all of it.  But a lot of it.  I've done a few purges, and want to do many more.  One large one took place around six years ago, and since that time I've only found a dozen or so things in the realm of books, music, etc., that I regret having gotten rid of.  So, not bad.  Some years ago I dumped a piece of furniture I'd love to have back.  And so it goes...

Lots more to whittle down, though.  Lots.  And at this moment, I don't have anything more brilliant than that to add...

Monday afternoon greetings!  Rebecca and I had a Starbucks visit this morning, after which I went to Lebanon to exchange one of the items I’d bought at Kay’s Shoppe earlier this month.  They’re sold out, of course, so now we’re waiting for a special order.  The mix-up was totally the owner’s fault and she was very apologetic.

Tonight was a wake and prayer service for one of our long time members.  He had 4 daughters, one of which us a year older than me and one a year younger, both of whom are still members and friends, we all grew up together at church, and over the years their dad was a Sunday school teacher, the church sexton, the basketball coach, a chaperone for our Luther League trips.........

The funeral home was packed with all the people who wanted a last chance to say goodbye , he was nearly 90 so he had a good full life

Listening to the EP of songs from the Rebecca musical. Horrible, '80s sounding, bad London musical tripe.

Other than that, it's a complete waste of time. They miss the subtlety that Hitchcock brought to the movie. They also fail to use the time period properly. The music should be jazzy and '30s with some dissonance thrown in for edginess. Instead, it all sounds like stuff that wasn't good enough to be in Martin Guerre or the Pirate Queen.

Last year I did that and it seemed like there was more candy when I got back than when I left

Back from a really productive rehearsal and I got all the way to the final scene, which is short and sweet.  We'll do that first thing in the morning.

I had a nice time at my discussion group.  It is nice getting to know a few more women in the complex better.  I knew several of them already and others I recognized.  Funny is my neighbor who was never overly friendly and is now :)

Sometimes, all it takes is a different opportunity to get to know each other.

Yup.  It is nice that we have a clubhouse for the meetings.  It is easier than someone hosting, easier on the hostess anyway.

DR John I hope you had a painless evening of dancing.

I did. Even though I disliked the therapy, it did work as it was supposed to.

Working as it should is appreciated even when it hurts like heck.

I am glad it did not interfere with your dancing.

Blocked a few more idiots on Facebook over their continued use of the word pedophile hurled at Mr. Spacey.  Be horrified that he made a clumsy, drunken pass at a fourteen-year-old (a pass, BTW, that resulted in no actual sexual conduct), but pedophile has a very specific legal meaning - a person who is attracted to PRE-PUBESCENT CHILDREN aged thirteen and UNDER.  What Mr. Spacey may or may not be is, in fact, a hebephile, someone who is attracted to PUBESCENT adolescents.  Use THAT word and you get no argument for me.  But these ever so moral Facebook people who do nothing but daily show their Facebook outrage and who, I'm quite certain, would all have things in their lives that if put under the social media microscope would cause the same outrage - they wouldn't like THAT.

Bruce if I used the word pedophile instead of hebephile, I would not have been insulted if you had corrected me.

Nick has always weighed in at twenty pounds.  He is a big boy.  Last time he was at the vet, he weighed in at fifteen and a half pounds.  I was worried about the weight loss, but the vet said it was probably a result of the renal problems.

Today, he weighed in at just under twenty pounds, but the other vet who saw him today said he needed to lose five pounds.  I didn't argue with her, but I am not going to cut back on his diet.
