Well, you've read the notes, the notes were whiny, and now it is time for you to post until the whiny cows come home.

Tonight is the first night of the second weekend (of three) for Olympia Little Theatre's production of Communicating Doors.  We had great audiences last weekend and I guess other performances have been selling quite well!

My sister and my friend Margo are going to see it next Friday.  We'll all go out to eat either before the show or after.  Exactly when is still to be decided.

Hello Everyone, Hello BK:

A note from me on the Variety show, if you will indulge.  I agree with everything Bruce posted.   The show was whiny, and these kids not given real music direction, both in the songs they chose and their performances.  Alexa was the anomaly, singing the only Broadway song in a program of 24 numbers!

As to the Steve Nicks trio song, I advised my daughter that  "On the Edge of Seventeen" would not be a great choice.  It is a 5 minute, largely repetitive song that is driven by a rock guitar and drummer, which the trio did not have due to the group "leader" (not my daughter) being unable to bring that together when the original musicians dropped out.

At a rehearsal over Xmas, which Alexa finally made happen as the "leader" did not,  I suggested that, given they lacked the two essential musicians, perhaps the girls could do  Bruce's song, "Three Friends", instead.  Alexa performed at Kritzerland and is a quite beautiful song about friendship and teenage girls.   The group "leader" would have none of it; she had "rehearsed the (Stevie Nicks) song for months" (???),  despite the fact that she did not have sheet music for it !??!!!   I got the girls the sheet music.

The song today had piano and drums along with the trio, and it went fine.  I would have preferred a Broadway song, or even something "old" like the Andrew sisters  :)

It's frustrating to see kids work hard but come up short because they don't have the right guidance, nor exposure to really good music.  I might have to beg Bruce to lead a master class  :D

Have a great weekend, everyone.  Thanks for allowing my rant.
Leslie

However, we will definitely listen to LEVI!.

I've been weeping a lot since yesterday.  I don't know if I'm weeping for Thatch or myself, but I find that everything he now  does - the same silly antics as before - makes me worry, is he straining himself? will this affect his heart?  will he die today?

I feel ridiculous even admitting this.  Two months ago, I was ready to return him, but I then was concerned that I was harming him and wanted to return him for his own welfare.  Now, I'm afraid I'm trying to wrap him and put him safely in my pocket where nothing can harm him.  I need to pull myself together.

The plumber is here to repair my leaking bathroom sink.  Annabelle is curious and climbing all over the plumber and Val, whom she loves.  Thatch is hiding under my bed.  He came out briefly to converse with Annabelle and check out the situation, then he went back to hiding.

I had a surprise phone call from my brother Randy.  We were talking about Thatch's health and Randy reminded me that he and Jo have two German shepherds running their lives and both will die relatively young because of health problems - I think it has to do with their bones and joints - in the breed.  They've been through several rounds of German shepherds now, and have a very clear picture of life with a pet of limited mortality.  It was good to get his perspective on my situation.

He's been eating paper.  I'm trying to keep an eye in this current trend. I hope this is not going to screw up his gastrointestinal system.  I notice this when he and Annabelle took out afternoon nap together.  There was a small piece of torn paper on my bed and after I petted him and closed my eyes, he ate it.

And now, I'm off to the theater.  I'm leaving a little earlier than usual because I'm going to swap out a sound effect.  This particular one wasn't very loud and when I tried to make it louder with my WAV file editor at home, it got too distorted, which is not good.  Fortunately, I was able to find another very similar sound that was much louder.  I'll probably have to bring down the sound within the soundboard program, which is better and certainly easier than trying to make something louder.

We have one cat who shreds paper.  It’s one of his methods of waking and annoying Master when he decides it’s time for breakfast.  I haven’t seen any evidence that he eats it.

The other cat scares the bejesus out of us by not only tearing at, but actually eating, plastic.  Fortunately, we were able to discern that this only happens when it’s in small ribbon form, so now we know to keep the jernt clear of all such material.  Scary stuff, man.

I really enjoyed Mary Berry's biography.  The editor did a pathetic job of correcting the grammatic errors, but the book is charming, very much like you'd suspect the judge on The Great British Bake Off to be in person.

Annabelle and Thatch have been quite active tonight.  They were running around like mad, then it got very quiet.  I walked into the dark bathroom, switched on the light, and two kitties were sitting in the bathtub staring at me. Before I could get a photo, Thatch jumped out of the tub and ran off.

Thatch always looks like he has a dirty face. :-)

It's that orange streak down his nose, perhaps.

Jane, THE WONDERFUL MRS MAISEL was an excellent suggestion. I haven't seen it. I'd heard of it, meant to check into it, then promptly forgot. It looks like it's only available on Amazon and I don't have Prime, but I'll check it out. Thanks.

Washed my mind out after The Apple with A Nous la Liberte, a marvelous French comedy that Chaplin stole a little too much from for Modern Times.

That is scary.

It is shocking how bad some editors are.

J.B. paid no attention to the music in The Apple or any of the songs in A Nous la Liberte. But there was a superb extra, a short film by Rene Clair called Entr’acte with a score by Eric Satie. The bird loved that music, screeching along.

I didn’t give him any medication today, which was a mistake.  I could tell he was hurting this evening.

My sister has a cat that ate a ribbon and she (my sister) had to pay $1700 to have it surgically removed! :P
