Well, you've read the notes, the notes had sax appeal, and now it is time for you to post until the appealing cows come home.

Today, I have a union meeting.  We're meeting because the library is going to do a classification and compensation study this year.  The supervisors and the base unit will meet and discuss mutual interests and concerns.

After the meeting, I'm going to a retirement party for a friend.  It's not a regular work retirement party, though.  My friend Stephanie, who was the music director for Cinder Edna is retiring from music directing...at least, she says she's retiring.  It could be just a break.

I ushered for a comedian, Felipe Esparza, last night. His first show sold so quickly that they added a second show. He wasn't very funny (I just don't laugh at stories about a dad beating a mom). But the audience was certainly into it. Very different audience from our symphony crowd. They were ready to laugh at what they heard and didn't really care about what they missed. I seated one couple about 30 minutes before the show was over and they didn't seem to mind. Most were there for the drinks and when the bar lines moved too slowly for their tastes, they bought two or more drinks; that, of course, caused the lines to move even slower.

HA!

Well it was the same Emergency Room experience that we have all had.  Doctor kept talking in a loud voice while my Mom was saying she couldn't breathe.  They gave her oxygen, took an x-ray....he said we've found a mass on her heart and lungs....this could all move very quickly....call the other family members....

Then they took a cat scan....mass wasn't there....shadow on the x-ray....doctor told us she was going to die any minute.....

Then he put a mask on her to lower the carbon dioxide levels or whatever that is.

She woke up and was talking, etc.  he said he wanted to send her to the OTHER hospital the one where I had my surgery.

Eventually the ambulance arrived....my sister rode up with her.  She is much improved this morning and is having an EKG...  Possible bronchitis and she may have had a heart attack in the last few days....  WTH!

So of course I have to start my prep so I am stuck at home....we shall see....but it looks much better today that yesterday.  Time will tell.

When we picked up our car rental it was dirty and smelled like cigarettes.   I wish we had exchanged it right then as we had to do just that this morning.  There were a few mechanical issues and we did not feel comfortable driving to Chicago.

Just lost a precious hour and a half with Bryan.

Re the Amory Ames books, I always prefer to start at the beginning of a series, in part because I like to see how the author introduces the characters and sets everything up. The first is MURDER AT THE BRIGHTWELL. You wouldn't have to start there, of course, but there is a subplot with Amory and her husband that continues throughout the series. I'm enjoying the subplot, too.

And here's the birthday boy.

Listening to great music - some MJQ, the soundtrack to The Gentle Rain, Stan Getz, Nick De Caro, and lots more.  Very enjoyable way to spend an evening.  I also watched the first half of A Village Romeo and Juliet - I'll finish it tomorrow - it sounds lovely but the director is inept.

Today, I have a union meeting.  We're meeting because the library is going to do a classification and compensation study this year.  The supervisors and the base unit will meet and discuss mutual interests and concerns.

I'm home and have been for a couple of hours.  It turns out that the union meeting that I thought was today is actually next week. ::) Dopey me!

Oh, my! :o

A few minutes ago, after a day of no rain, there was about a minute of a torrential downpour, then it just stopped.  And either just before that or just after (I forget now), there was a LOUD and LONG thunder...applause!  It was wasn't just a clap, but a rolling thunder like I had never heard before.

And now, I just saw a lightning flash and right after it, more (but shorter lasting) thunder!  Now it's raining, but not the torrential downpour like before.

VERY strange weather for western Washington.

After going to the meeting place and then finding out that it wasn't happening then, I went to my sister's for a bit.

So far, the thunder, lightning, and heavy rain has bypassed Tacoma.

I moved a mirror from downstairs to her upstairs, and then hung a new mirror downstairs.

It's in the Olympia/Tumwater area right now.

After going to my sister's, I went to the retirement party!

After the meeting, I'm going to a retirement party for a friend.  It's not a regular work retirement party, though.  My friend Stephanie, who was the music director for Cinder Edna is retiring from music directing...at least, she says she's retiring.  It could be just a break.

The party for Stephanie was a great success!  She had no idea that it was happening and there were a lot of OFT people there, celebrating and telling stories and eating and singing songs.  I got there at about 4:10 and didn't leave until 8:30 or so.  A great time was had by all!

~~~Continued Vibes for Jrand's Mother!!~~~
When we picked up our car rental it was dirty and smelled like cigarettes.   I wish we had exchanged it right then as we had to do just that this morning.  There were a few mechanical issues and we did not feel comfortable driving to Chicago.
Just lost a precious hour and a half with Bryan.
Darn.  That's too bad, Jane.
I could not sleep last night.  I maybe got three hours sleep, total.
I hate it when that happens! :P
Thank you.  The new car drives better, and is cleaner.
Whew!
DR Goerge for dinner we had impossible burgers, except for our DIL who had a meat burger.  It was served on a pretzel bun.
I enjoyed it.
Cool!  I won't specifically go to the local restaurant here just to get one, but if I happen to go there, I'll probably get one again.
No, but I've been making different choices over the last couple of years (for medical reasons).  I need to lower my cholesterol and this is a way for me to do that.
