Post by: George on November 03, 2018, 01:20:11 AM: After last night's quite successful performance of The Rocky Horror Show, one of the other volunteers, an older woman, mentioned that her ride had left! Her friend evidently forgot to give her a ride home and didn't have a cell phone. She was also in some pain and wasn't really able to help usher. Fortunately, we had enough ushers.

Post by: George on November 03, 2018, 01:28:20 AM: I offered to drive her home (she lived less than a mile away), but it took her a long time to get into my car because of the pain she was having. She couldn't lift her right leg to be able to get into my passenger seat! It took almost 10 minutes of her trying different ways to get into my car, and she tried from both sides, but eventually was successful!

Post by: George on November 03, 2018, 01:30:42 AM: When I go to her house (once out of the car, she could stand and walk slowly, but with much less pain than trying lift her leg...no pun intended ;) ), we just stood outside her house and chatted for about 15 minutes or so.

Today, I'll be working from 9:00 am, until 5:00 pm, the I'll go yo my sister's for our weekly family dinner, then hopefully come home and take a nap before the midnight show!

When I lived in my Calabasas condo complex (for 22 years), there were a few neighbors who caused issues.

There was even a murder in the building next to mine, but I apparently slept through it.

Great idea, of course, but it’s oddly selective. Obviously you can only cover so much in one article, but there’s no balance or any real focus. There were places great and small that were a part of the fabric, and I’d love to find the comprehensive site or book or film that does it all justice.

Post by: bk on November 03, 2018, 07:39:37 PM: The run was pretty smooth with come good stuff, but a couple of my most reliable people were not quite with it today, but they knew it. My biggest problem actress has still never gotten through her ONE scene and song correctly and I'm now actively getting nasty about it. You try to explain that when the screw up lyrics the audience blame that stuff on the lyricist not the performer because they're merely hearing wrong words. I told her that I am much to much a craftsman and perfectionist with lyrics and I'm not going to have it anymore. But Doug will be talking to her this evening and laying down the law because neither of us trust here at all and think she will screw up repeatedly during the run. She assures us and assures us and still it's wrong at every performance. So, we have a backup plan and if we have to pull a switch we will.

Post by: bk on November 03, 2018, 07:42:45 PM: The stumble-through was REALLY rough, mostly due to our replacement replacement replacement replacement being completely unprepared - I whittled her down to two numbers so it wouldn't be too much, but in the end the longer more complicated number was too much for her, although she didn't spend the time necessary to nail it down. She wanted to have lyrics onstage but at the stumble-through she literally could not take her eyes off the paper. So, when we finished I took her outside and told her I didn't want her to have that kind of pressure and that it just wasn't far enough along for it to work. I think she breathed a big sigh of relief.

I had lots of notes, gave them, worked stuff, and then Doug and I went and had food at Corky's - I had my sandwich and a salad.
