Well, you've read the notes, the notes were decently decent, and now it is time for you to post until the decently decent cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CANOROUS!
-
First post after BK.
-
Goodnight.
-
Now I have gotten an email asking me to fill out a survey on what I thought about SCROOGE. I a not really sure that these theaters really want to know what I have to say about their shows.
-
;D
-
All the travel vibes worked, thanks.
-
Good morning, all!
-
Little Thatch let me sleep in this morning. He did not begin his boisterous attack to rouse me until it was nearly 7:10, forty minutes later than usual.
-
I have no news this morning, None. At all
-
We woke up at 5:00am on Thursday morning and it is now 4:45am on Friday morning PST. In Hong Kong it is 8:45pm so we are in bed with the lights out.
-
We did not sleep at all on the plane,
-
Good morning, all.
-
I have to be off soon to my next (and last o' the year) li'l gig.
-
I'll have to read or watch the Beale Street thing one of these days. I am already, of course, an expert on the subject, having walked around one afternoon and one evening on said street.
-
Cheers, best vibes, and a happy Friday to all.
-
Good morning!
-
It’s going to be 52 degrees today. Very unusual for a December day in Buffalo!
-
Glad you and Keith made it safe and sound to Hong Kong, DR Jane. Have a great time!
-
Now I have gotten an email asking me to fill out a survey on what I thought about SCROOGE. I a not really sure that these theaters really want to know what I have to say about their shows.
I think that you should write exactly what happened and list all the issues.
-
Hong Kong vibes for DR JANE.
Laying low and avoiding drama vibes for MR BK.
Continued travel vibes for those on the road....again.
-
I went to WalMart and Dollar Tree for a few things today so I don't have to go next week.
Neither store was very crowded between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
-
I made cheeseburgers for lunch and dinner....so my cooking for the day is done.....but my eating has just begun.
I got some Hershey Chocolate Bells at half price, but avoided the rest of the 1/2 off candy......there were no BOXES of chocolates left.
-
Friday morning greetings! We have returned from Richard’s post-op appointment and a shopping stop at Target. Dr. Meier is very pleased with yesterday’s work and Richard is coping quite well. It’ll be a quiet New Year holiday for us.

That's great, Ginny (about yesterday's work and Richard's coping)!

So, last night I got home and was working on my old computer which doesn't have Internet access. At about 10:50 pm, I got a text from a friend of mine (we were just in A Christmas Story together and Hairspray last year) who was working at the Dutch Bros. coffee shop here in Tumwater, saying his ride (his parents) couldn't pick him up (their car broke down) and could I drive him home. I (of course) stay up late, so I said that I could. He told me that the place closes at 11:00 and he has to work until about 11:10 or so. Well, I get there at about 11:05 and wait. And wait. And wait!
-
I text, asking if he's really there, and he is. But it takes so long for him and his one other co-worker to clean the place before they get to leave that they didn't get done until about 12:25! :o It took about 15 minutes to drive him home, then another 15 for me to get home. He was very appreciative and said that if I hadn't been able to drive him, he would've had to walk home! It was cold and he was not dressed warmly enough to walk that far at night, so I didn't mind driving him home.
And that was my evening last night.
-
Good afternoon everyone.

Did he happen to explain how 11:10 turned into 12:25?

Yes. He said that normally it wouldn't take very long, but it got really busy during the evening and there were only two people there. They didn't have time to clean while they were open, so it all had to be done after the customers left. And because the other people who would normally be there weren't there (he normally works in their Lacey store), the two of them had to do everything. :-\

I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep.
-
The bathroom leaks continue. The plumbers haver restored some water pressure to the bathroom sink, but the leak in the main valve will be an issue next week.
-
Good afternoon from Minneapolis. Ive made it through customs.
-
I also did not sleep pn the flight. An infant behind me screamed the whole way.
-
Welcome back to the USA, DR JohnG. Travel vibes for the rest of your trip!
-
So i watched the first season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
I liked it more than BK, but i didnt get what all the fuss has been about. The style kept changing as the episodes progressed. And i didnt care for the exercise scene stolen directly from The Women.
The lead is quite good but, down to the hairstyle, she reminds me of crazy Lydia on A Place to Call Home.
-
Oh, and the anachronisms bothered me.
-
But any show that features a lot of Blossom Dearie on the soundtrack is okay by me.
I wish the music credits were included at the end of each episode.

That is super nice of you. Sorry but making you wait that long was ridiculous. He should have asked you to come at 12:20am not have you wait.

Ditto and Ditto!!

If there's a next time, he will. I figure that it's because he's young, but since I stay up late anyway, it wasn't a horrible situation...or maybe I'm just a pushover. ;)

Thank you, KevinH. Travel vibes for you, too b
-
Good afternoon from Minneapolis. Ive made it through customs.
Welcome back to the USA! Will you be home tonight?
-
I am sure JB is on pins and needles waiting for DR JOHN G to get home.
-
Good news about RICHARD from DR GINNY. A nice quiet New Year's is not a bad thing.
-
I have seen the TCM REMEMBERS twice now....and there are four folks I didn't know had passed away....I don't know how I missed them....
Nanette Fabray
Harlan Ellison
Tab Hunter
Heather Menzies-Urich
Crazy!!!!
-
Page 2? Still?
-
I hope that everyone's travel plans are proceeding as planned.
-
Well Ellison and Hunter both passed away close to the same dates as my mom.....Menzies passed away last December 24 - and now I do remember her son writing about it on Facebook....Fabray died last February....so I guess I just spaced it......
-
BK - Did you know Norman Gimbel? Mr. Gimbel passed away at 91. He was the lyricist on several of the TV themes for shows you were on. (Was this already mentioned oin HHW?)
-
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/norman-gimbel-dead-oscar-grammy-winning-lyricist-was-91-1171780
Norman Gimbel, the Oscar- and Grammy-winning lyricist whose career included Roberta Flack's "Killing Me Softly With His Song," Jim Croce's "I Got a Name" and the themes to Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley, has died. He was 91.
Gimbel died Dec. 19 at his longtime home in Montecito, Calif., son Tony Gimbel told The Hollywood Reporter.
The Brooklyn native shared his original song Academy Award with David Shire for "It Goes Like It Goes," performed by Jennifer Warnes for Norma Rae (1979), starring Sally Field in an Oscar-winning turn.

Also one of my favorite TV themes ever
Theme from "Angie" - Maureen McGovern "Different Worlds"

-
I am enjoying some cheese and crackers.
-
Probably healthier than the non-stop sweets this past week.
-
Goodness, everyone tries to kill you with candy this time of year.
-
Nobody ever gives you a three-pound box of carrots for Christmas.
-
Would we eat them if they did?
-
One more post.
-
Page 3
-
Boy, that took forever.
-
Goodness, everyone tries to kill you with candy this time of year.
He also wrote Killing Me softly. Killing with candy might be that.
-
I shall return!
-
A taste of things to come next year
-
Cool! That sounds exciting, Michael!
-
Did not know Mr. Gimbel. The first time I took notice of his name was when I got the sheet music for I Will Wait for You from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg back in 1963 - he wrote lyrics for all the main themes from the film.

I remember the show and always liked that song! Going from that to another video to another video took me to this video: Donna Summer - Bad Girls (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hEQfbSGTiPg) from her TV Special, The Donna Summer Special (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0335059/?ref_=tt_ch). What's cool (and what connects it to Angie) is that Donna sings "Bad Girls" live (it's obviously not prerecorded) and Debralee Scott is one of the "bad girls" singing backup! The other two "bad girls" are Pat Ast, and BK's close and personal friend, Twiggy! :D
-
Welcome home to JohnG.
-
Picked up no packages or mail, but shipped something. In a few minutes I'll shave and shower then be on my way to sup at five-thirty. The restaurant we're going to is but one minute from here.
-
Good evening.
-
Wae-Ling and I went for a nice long walk at the river. Then we ate burgers and fries.
-
Packages — that reminds me, I meant to ask —
BK, did the cast album CDs go out yet? I got my other perk (which I love dearly!) but didn’t remember whether the CDs were to supposed to have been shipped along with those other things.
-
Which other cast albums?
-
I shall now be on my way to sup and then see our show.
-
Back from dinner with my sister Kate/Catherine, her husband, my brother my niece, her husband and son. Went to a local pizza place that also services pasta, subs, fish, and more.
-
Nobody ever gives you a three-pound box of carrots for Christmas.
If they did they would not be invited back
-
Travel vibes for Jane and Keith
-
Welcome home JohnG
-
Bathroom leak repair vibes for Elmore
-
Watching DR Kate’s favorite TV program, the Andy Griffith Show. I’ve probably seen the episode four or five times, but that’s okay.
-
chocolate covered carrots?
-
chocolate covered carrots?
Ewww. :P
-
And on that note (C#), I'm outta here. I came in to work early because I brought my car in to get one of the four oxygen sensors fixed. It's now fixed. The only thing that I noticed was that the "Service Engine Soon" light came on (which is why I brought it in), but otherwise, it seemed to run well enough.
Anyway, be back later.
-
Which other cast albums?
Woops, sorry. A Carol Christmas. The cast album perk.
-

I got my big perk in my too large collection of mail, but not the Carol Christmas CD.
-
Getting ready for sleep. Gotta get the bird in the morning.
-
Nobody ever gives you a three-pound box of carrots for Christmas.
When i was a paperboy, i hot a bag of frozen peas and carrots as a Christmas tip. Weird.
-
Good night, all.
-
But let's move on first ...
-
Four!
-
Am I the only DR who would be happy to receive 3 lbs of carrots? Surprised, yes, and maybe a bit puzzled, but not displeased.
-
It looks like John G is home. Glad to hear it. And pleased the trip was so meaningful.
-
Plumbing vibes to Larry.
-
Health vibes to anyone still ailing.
-
Continued travel vibes to Jane and Keith and also Kevin and Matthew.
-
Good night.
-
Goodness, everyone tries to kill you with candy this time of year.
:D
-
So much for sleeping in. We went to the gym at 7:00.
-
Cool! That sounds exciting, Michael!
It does.
-
Wae-Ling and I went for a nice long walk at the river. Then we ate burgers and fries.
Nice. How is yout satica?
-
Travel vibes for Jane and Keith
Thanks. We are staying put until the 5th.
-
After a very nice buffet breakfat at the hotel we went for a nices walk around Kowloon.
-
We are now sitting in a cigar bar. Keith purchased a very expensive cuban and ordered a beer. I am having a small shot of McCallan’s cuz it was the only drink on the menu I knew I would like.
-
The tobacco tax is extremely high here.
-
The server poured my scotch into the glass measuring it first in a fancy shot thing with a bar that went across the top of the glass then swiveled upside down to pour it out. I think it could have been filled a bit higher, guess she didn’t want to risk spilling extra.
-
Am I the only DR who would be happy to receive 3 lbs of carrots? Surprised, yes, and maybe a bit puzzled, but not displeased.
Sweet good carrots, I would be very pleased.
-
I believe all the Indiegogo Carols went out separately.
-
Hi to DR Jate, appropriate VIBES to everyone!
-
Home from a decent show that could have been even better had everyone had proper show and vocal energy - some did, some didn't. But the audience enjoyed it. We're always told these really low audience numbers and yet tonight instead of the fifty we were told it was a full house save for about three seats.
-
I stopped at Ralph's as she of the Evil Eye needed Tide. Since I'd have only a burger for dinner - no fries or salad or anything else and not a big burger at that, I made a sandwich when I got home and had some Cherry Loaf. Turns out I was wrong about the Wechters coming tonight - it's tomorrow night and we're supping prior to the show.
-
Page four? Really?
-
We went to my moms thus evening to visit with my niece
-
She had not been able to arrive in time for our get together on the 26th, arriving at my Mom's about 1 am on the 27th
-
She is a nurse in Virginia.
-
On the 27th my brother's family had gathered at my sister in laws sisters house on eastern LI for their celebration
-
So last night before she headed back to Virginia was our only chance to visit
-
We had a nice time catching up and eating a makeshift dinner of various leftovers from the three previous nights of celebrations
-
She is probably just at arriving home around now
-
Unfortunately it was lousy driving weather, it has been raining all day and roads are and traffic are miserable with all the rain
-
We arrived home and I dozed off again shortly aft my carrots comment
-
And of course now I am awake in the middle of the night
-
Oh, I found page five
-
I shan't dance
-
I too am awaiting the arrival of A Carol Christmas
-
Was that indigogo perk sent yet?
-
Michael I hope to hear more news about your 2019 theatrical events soon
-
I do not understand the allure of cigars, I think they smell absolutely dreadful
-
And this from someone who was once a heavy cigarette smoker
-
Although since quitting back in 1986 I cannot abide the smell of cigarettes either
-
,I had a long chat with one of my former coworkers last night
-
Apparently things are not going well
-
She is trying to find a new job now
-
Today was the last day for the woman I was hired to replace
-
She cleared out all her personal stuff and the IT people added in a new email address for me
-
So as of now her desk is now mine
-
Which other cast albums?
Woops, sorry. A Carol Christmas. The cast album perk.
I got my big perk in my too large collection of mail, but not the Carol Christmas CD.
I'm still waiting for all of my CDs...patiently, but still waiting.
-
Good evening.
-
Hi, vixmom! Hi, George!
-
I was told , unofficially, by the outgoing lady that traditionally the office closes early on New Years Eve
-
Well hello boys, how nice to see you both!
-
I guess this is still Friday.
-
Do you have any plans for New Years Eve?
-
I do not understand the allure of cigars, I think they smell absolutely dreadful
I agree. :P I have a couple of friends (and one's even a woman!) who like cigars. Not my cuppa at all.
-
I guess this is still Friday.
It's Saturday here
-
It is nice to actually be online with you when we are all awake.
-
Other than popping up to church to set the altar I have no obligations on Saturday
-
It is nice to actually be online with you when we are all awake.
I agree
-
Although since quitting back in 1986 I cannot abide the smell of cigarettes either
My mom quit in 1984, about a month before my niece was born. It took quite a few months, but my mom no longer likes the smell, either.
-
Although I should be sleeping
-
Do you have any plans for New Years Eve?
I don’t do anything, and I never go out on New Year’s Eve.
-

Although every once in a while I get a strong urge tohave a cigarette
-
Hi, vixmom! Hi, George!
Hi, Tom! Hi, Vixmom!
-
Page 6
-
I have not yet succumbed to the urge
-
I assume it would taste horrible, but I don't dare take the chance that I would once again become addicted
-
I quit smoking in February of 1995.
-
I was told , unofficially, by the outgoing lady that traditionally the office closes early on New Years Eve
The libraries that normally stay open until 7:00 pm (including the headquarters where I work) have to close at 6:00 on New Year's Eve. And we don't get the hour for free. We have to either get to work early, or work an extra hour sometime that week, or take vacation.
-
I was given a one year extension after my mom was killed.
-
Do you have any plans for New Years Eve?
I don’t do anything, and I never go out on New Year’s Eve.
We used to have an open house in New Years Eve with a buffet and we would play games like Jenga and wrap up by about 1 am
-
I have not yet succumbed to the urge
Good for you!
-
Then the next morning we would all meet up again for brunch
-
Why do you have to close at six?
-
I don't think that my family is going to get together this New Year's Eve, like we have in the past. I don't have any other plans (yet), so who knows what I'll be doing. :-\
-
New Year’s Day Brunch sounds fun.
-
We stopped doing that after I changed jobs because we always worked a full day New Year's Eve , at my previous office I had always had New Year's Eve off
-
Any day that I can eat a lot of food, and not cook, sounds fun to me.
-

That's odd
-
Why do you have to close at six?
The building will "officially" be closed at 6:00, which just means that we can't work past then...really meaning having any time on our time sheets past six that night. There isn't anyone making us actually get out of the building by exactly 6:00 pm. It's all on the honor system.
-
I was given a one year extension after my mom was killed.
I don't understand but maybe I am too sleepy, an extension of what?
-
I don't go anywhere New Year's Eve either. Too many crazies out there.

Yup. They say that they want us to be "safe," but really what difference will one hour make?
-
It doesn’t sound like an honor to keep working and not get paid.
-
I wonder if it's too late to organize a brunch get together ....I'll have to speak to Vixdad in the morning and see what he thinks
-
It doesn’t sound like an honor to keep working and not get paid.
Having had that "honor" for many years, I agree
-
I was given a one year extension after my mom was killed.
I don't understand but maybe I am too sleepy, an extension of what?
An extension from trying to quit smoking.

I know!

Ah!

Well...
-
...since we're so close...

PAGE SEVEN DANCE!!
