I have to award the musical execution a Fail, but I was able to see how the concept of cast musicians could work in this piece, given the right people to make it happen. These weren’t the right people. Nor were a few of the cast the right people to carry a tune, regardless of the manner of accompaniment.

But they had a good closing following a good run, and a good if occasionally cringeworthy time was had by all.

Post by: vixmom on January 06, 2019, 11:27:08 AM: I arrived at church, checked the setting of the altar, set up coffee hour, attended he service, made an announcement about needing coffeehour hosts, reset the altar, visited with various people, went to one of the delis, (Rick's Place) had egg sandwiches made (scrambled egg with sausage on an onion roll for Vixdad, 2 overeasy with muesnster cheese and bacon on a poppy seed roll for me) came home and breakfasted with Vixdad, then went back to church for an assisting minister and deacons meeting and then back home again

Harlequin Productions, a local professional theater company, is going to do this show (I can't wait!), and it sounds like they're going to do essentially the same thing, use actor/musicians: https://harlequinproductions.org/show/man-of-la-mancha/ (https://harlequinproductions.org/show/man-of-la-mancha/). It's being referred to as "a re-orchestration of Man of La Mancha."

A single ensemble of musician/actors play fresh new orchestrations that mash a Flamenco guitar ensemble with a Mexican Banda band in this newly realized production.

This production used one person on guitar, one on flute, and one on percussion (a few drums playable by hand, and a snare). These three musicians were dressed as cast and were moved around as cast, but they weren’t characters. Actual cast members played nothing.

The one DR George links to would be a hundred times better right out of the starting gate.

Well, the movie was pretty darned good, in my opinion. It is, of course, completely over the top ridiculous, but good fun, very good special effects and I liked the actors. On Rotten Tomatoes, it got a 65% from reviewers, and 80% from the audience. As ridiculous as it is (especially in the fight and battle scenes), I'm definitely in the 80% camp. :)

But then if it makes sense and feels right, what does it matter if it's a "long" chapter or not? I've read a few books where all the chapters have very different lengths because it made sense story-wise and that's what the authors wanted. :)

I haven't opened this package, but it was VERY bulging on both the top and bottom! I also noticed that it doesn't expire until the middle of February, so why is the pressure increasing enough to bulge out the packaging, especially since it's been in my fridge the whole time??
