Title: WALKING THE WALK

Well, you've read the notes, the notes walked the walk and talked the talk, and now it is time for you to post until the walking and talking cows come home.

Here is a Possible Topic of Discussion for a lazy day of posts:

What movie do you strongly dislike, that apparently every other person in the entire free world (plus Latvia) simply loves?

And if that doesn’t grab you, try it in reverse... a movie you love that everyone else strongly dislikes.

I've seen SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS 2-3 times, but not for many years.

When it first came out, I was 20-years-old, and it did have an emotional effect on me.

I don't know how I'd feel about it if I watched it again today.

Sometime this coming week, I am going to lose the use of my computer for approximately two (2) weeks.

 :'( :'( :'(

I have been informed that my Mac model has a major problem that can only be repaired by shipping the computer direct to Mac headquarters.

I have an older model Mac that might give me some internet access, but I won’t be able to send or receive e-mail from it, and I’m not sure how well I will do with it on this site or Facebook.

I have literally a couple of minutes to spend here this morning with preparing for the final performance of PIPPIN -- which, by the bye, is to be attended by a Mr. Schwartz, not that has anything to do with it.

So did I survive my first PIPPIN last night? I did, and I can only hope PIPPIN survived me. Today should be fun, and I shall at least briefly attend the cast partay afterward.

It's great to be able to see the bright side!

I was never conditioned for it.  Until this cyberstalking thing started so suddenly by (I'll disguise the names) Bonkers' videographer Mr. Jonathan Crank  in Feb 2011,  I never had the kind of  adversity to have to stand up for anything of much importance, so never got conditioned to look for a bright side in an undeserved bad situation.

I certainly never was used to lawyers like their Elliot Brown that just flat-out lie, but try suing a law firm.

They seem to say that if you protest what their client Bonkers does illegally even a peep louder than the scofflaw retaliator wants, then you (the retaliation victim) are the bully.

I did bring grievance complaints against two of the lawyers involved, and the copy of the legal answer to one of them at Elliot's firm brought out a wealth of information at the beginning of this May that I never would have imagined.

They have a strange view of what being harassed by emails, for example. Elliot's partner Neil Rosini referred to a "barrage of about 20 emails from February to May " - which sounds horrifying until you realize that's 20 emails in over 14 weeks, less than 1-1/2 per week.  That's a Princess Winnifred "Princess and the Pea" sensitivity to being harassed by getting emails to feel barraged by less than 1.5 emails per week while there's an open matter going on.

Enjoy Skip's songs.  Otherwise, remember that it was all very quickly aged down to pre-school.  I'm not sure what to make of Quasi wanting his own appearance to be overlooked, but he falls for the most beautiful lady in town.

It feels like people onstage who are overweight asking for fairness in equal casting on stage or screen for overweight people, yet the person they are married to and fell for is in great shape - so that's what they favor and maybe don't get that viewers might feel that way to with who they see onstage.

When I was online with a company having to identify myself based on the questions when I signed up, and the rep on then phone said "here's one, if you get this right, I'll know you're you for sure.  What's your favorite movie?"

(I remembered I had joined the legal research site and answered the security questions in the mid-1990s.)

I said "Breaking Away" -

she said "That's it, it's a really good movie, but in all my years here, it's never been anyone else's all-time favorite movie."

MEMENTO is at the top of the list. I can't see how anyone would like this movie. We had to watch the same violent scenes over and over. Ugh!

Back from fun with Marshall Harvey - I had him remove about 70% of the footage he'd used from the DVD - while some was okay and obviously has more clarity,  I hadn't realized before that they'd zoomed in about 18% - well, that really screws up the framing on the sides of the image.  The shots we left don't suffer too badly, but the others I couldn't live with.  The new black bars that are true black help hugely - he also had adjusted the contrast on the 3/4" to have better blacks and that was helpful, too.  Most importantly, I fixed something that I've hated since the special effects house sent me the shot - without spoiling what that shot is (first shot in the film), the film was always meant to go from music over a black screen to a blinding gold-ish color, rather like the opening of Close Encounters going to a blinding white shot.  But the effects house couldn't do the gold from side to side - so you saw a little of something that shouldn't have been there because of it.  So, I had Marshall blow up that shot and voila - perfect.    We also added one single shot to a scene where I'd always meant to do that.  It works great.  And that's it.

I got back on the freeway and headed to Laurel Canyon and the mail place.  About 200 feet from the off-ramp the motor car started going berserk.  I couldn't accelerate much and the noises it was making were horrendous.  I got off the freeway and literally just made it into the parking lot of the mail place at which point I shut off the engine.  I tried restarting, but it wouldn't turn over.  So, I got my package, called triple A - they said it would be an hour, so I went into the Subway and got a Subway club foot-long and a Diet Coke.  I ate half and started on the second half when the two truck arrived.  He heard what the car was doing and was concerned it was the engine or something in the inner workings.  If that's true, I'm truly screwed, if they have to rebuild the engine or anything like that.  I have no idea if that's because of the water/oil thing because the clickety-clackety noises were happening before I did that.

We got it towed to the Van Nuys Infiniti place - they cost more than private servicing places, but they also provide free loaner cars.  If this is major, then I don't think I can justify spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on an engine for a ten year old car.  At that point, I think I would have to look into leasing a new car and to do that this week would be an ordeal.

I never tire of the history at the fort.  There are a couple of small wood homes still there located outside of the fort.  Fort Vancouver was a 19th-century fur trading post that was the headquarters of the Hudson's Bay Company's Columbia Department.  The homes were for the employees.

So, crackers it may be.  I do have a little cream cheese left, so could add to the crackers.

Elmore's friend, Stephen Rea, has a nice scene in Greta. But it is a gruesome little movie.

Maybe it needs an upbeat closing song?  ("Something Greater" is never going to work for APPLAUSE in this new modern environment - maybe they'd let it go elsewhere.)

That's something, Greta!
Something, Greta!
It's fine but it's not for me.

or maybe not.

And if that doesn’t grab you, try it in reverse... a movie you love that everyone else strongly dislikes.

Sometime this coming week, I am going to lose the use of my computer for approximately two (2) weeks.

 :'( :'( :'(

I have been informed that my Mac model has a major problem that can only be repaired by shipping the computer direct to Mac headquarters.

 >:( >:( >:(

I have an older model Mac that might give me some internet access, but I won’t be able to send or receive e-mail from it, and I’m not sure how well I will do with it on this site or Facebook.

I've never been able to find ANY proper mention of this, but I found it this evening.  So, now I have a date, although another listing on the same site has a second date - I suspect maybe a rerun?

June 8, 1972 episode 171

Merv's guests are actor William Holden talks about his African Conservation Ranch, producer Martin Rackin explains how he began a career of reporting with the New York Daily News, comedian Dom DeLuise discusses his latest film "Every Crook and Nanny", singer-dancer Lola Falana, comic Chip Hand, actor-writer-director-composer Bruce Kimmel and Valerie Gillet.

Now, someone find me this damn thing, seriously.

That's pretty cool, ChasSmith!  I got to meet Stephen Schwartz quite a few years ago when he, cabaret singer Scott Coulter and BK's close and personal friend Debbie (Shapiro) Gravitte performed together at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts! :D

At the time it was released "Blow-Up".
"Titanic" I didn't hate it until the ending.  Up until they it was kind of ok.

The special effects in Titanic  were so laughably awful (I remember some propeller looking small next to the people) that I couldn’t even enjoy the last half.

And that theme song. Gag.

My niece LOVED that movie!  She saw it in the theaters 21, count 'em, TWENTY-ONE times!  AND paid for ME to take her four of those times! :o
