Well, you've read the notes, the notes have come and gone like so many notes before, and now it is time for you to post until the come and gone cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GOSSAMER!
-
First post after BK.
-
I'm still watching the Emmys. The In Memoriam section was very well done.
-
Billy Porter for Lead Actor - Drama Series!
-
Billy Porter Makes History as First Openly Gay, Black Man to Win Best Actor in a Drama (https://people.com/tv/billy-porter-emmys-history-first-openly-gay-black-man-win-outstanding-lead-actor-drama/)!
-
Jason Bateman just won for Directing - Drama Series.
-
Outstanding Comedy Series: Fleabag.
-
Outstanding Drama Series: Game of Thrones.
-
Why is it that I have zero interest in ever watching such a thing as Game of Thrones? And just because I'd never heard of it, I watched fifteen minutes of that one-word comedy on Amazon with the Brit lady who won tonight. I found it thoroughly unfunny.

We read all the books in the Game of a Thrones series and quite enjoyed them and we also enjoyed the series.
-
We are also fans of the Lord of the Rings books and movies.
-
So perhaps you just don’t care for that genre?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I rescheduled today's podiatrist appointment. I can't get my energy revved up for walking about the Flatiron district this morning.
-
I think I will spend most of the day on a heating pad.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I'm still watching the Emmys. The In Memoriam section was very well done.
Except they ran a picture of the very much alive Leonard Slatkin and called him Andre Previn.
-
So perhaps you just don’t care for that genre?
I don’t. And I stopped watching after season one.
-
We watched Part Five of Ken Burns' Country Music. I stopped caring about the Emmys years ago, and i'm feeling the same these days about the Oscars.
-
I opening of the Emmy ceremony (with Homer Simpson, etal.) was funny, but beyond that....
-
After the first hour, we stopped watching the Emmys and watched THE AFFAIR.
Good show.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Monday.
(In case anyone needed to be told.)
-
Today’s temperature will reach almost 90 degrees. Tomorrow, we’re back in the low 70s.
-
I’ve had to run AC relatively little since our very hot July. Last night was one of those times, and certainly this afternoon and evening will be. Then that should be it for a while.
-
Tonight, something fun and a little different. I’m going to the Bedford Playhouse for the latest in their classics series, PULP FICTION. While that, in our minds, is a contemporary film as opposed to a “classic”, it’s sobering to be reminded that it’s also a quarter of a century old. It’s also funny that it will be my second Tarantino film seen there in a month. But I haven’t watched it straight through in years, and since this jernt is the best place to see anything it should be stunning. The theater’s John Farr is an excellent host, and the evening will be topped off with a Q&A with former NY Times critic Janet Maslin. Hopefully, Mr. Robert Harris will be there as well.
-
I watched five minutes of the Emmy Awards....and that was enough....Amy Pohler and some other woman were yakking and yakking and YAKKING and finally gave an award to Alex Borstein who proceeded to talk about body parts.....
I have never heard of most of the shows OR the actors - so it's not much fun for me anymore.
-
TOD:
I have a Vizio 32" TV in the computer room, an Emerson 45" TV in my bedroom, and a Sanyo 32" TV in the living room.
I like the picture on the Emerson TV best - and it was easy to set up.
My favorite TV was a 40" Polaroid....but I don't know if they even make tv's anymore.
-
Oddly, I’ve never been an Emmys watcher. I’m sure there have been times when I would have enjoyed it, but somehow it never rose to the right level in my consciousness.
-
We usually keep living room furniture until we get tired of it....eight years or so....however at age 69, I think I have bought my last sofa...in 2017.
-
PAGE TWO!
-
DR TCB - I posted this last night, but it didn't show up.
We wear leather microphone belts to hold our wireless microphone paks. I tried to maybe put Hal's pak in his back pocket, but his jeans were too tight. And anyway, we would still have the wire from the pak to his ear to deal with.
I tried to tell from some videos of the Broadway revival how they did it - but I couldn't tell....didn't see any wires - but I'm sure he was miked.....
So he just wore his sleeveless t-shirt....
-
Good morning.
-
TOD: We haven't had a tv since you had to buy a converter box. We had working tvs off and on while the kids grew up. We often made them inoperable, which my son will finally understand when the grandson gets older.
-
We did get some rain this morning. Finally. A few drops in the rain gauge. Hopefully some more during the day.
-
50” Panasonic 1080p plasma from (eek) 2010 in the Music/Movie room, and a 7.1 surround setup. While I rue the day I didn’t buy larger, I love this screen like no other, and the eek is because I dread thinking about the day it gives up the ghost. Yes, today’s better OLEDs beat that plasma quality, but prices are something else and this one is still stunning. In the bedroom, a 32” Insignia that’s perfectly fine for late night watching.
Nathan and Kristi own the 55” (nothing fancy, it gets the job done) in the living room and I think it’s a 32” in their bedroom.
-
We’re still old-school cable TV customers who have only recently begun to branch out into watching a few things on Netflix and maybe Amazon, but we haven’t acquired any other devices for streaming or anything. That’s all still Greek to me (same as Greek itself). Part of the reason for sticking with Comcast/Xfinity is that their service and speeds are pretty top notch around here, especially important when it comes to broadband for both internet and phone.
-
Living room furniture? Oh geez, don’t ask.
-
LOL DR Laura I will attempt not to trip.
-
John a high fat diet is hard if you don't have a gallbladder.
-
We are off to Hyde Park.
-
Have fun DR JANE!
-
My sister and I are attending Downton Abbey The Movie this afternoon.
-
There is a 55" HDTV on sale at WalMart for $298.....I look at it often as I walk by.
-
Good morning!
-
Enjoy London, DR Jane!
-
Monday morning greetings! I am ready for the day, which includes watching a Facebook Live at noon, a DAR conference call at 1pm, and a trip to Oxford this evening to eat pizza with Miami University student AAUW members and attend a book talk with them.
-
We watched Part Five of Ken Burns' Country Music...
I'm glad you remembered it was resuming last night! I was home from Haydn's CREATION and dinner with Sharon just in time to join Richard for the broadcast.
-
Good morning!
Thank you. We are stying on a bench under a tree which is not keeping us dry. It is a good thing I grabbed my rain coat because it might rain later. Darn, it was lovely when we arrived.
-
We are off to Hyde Park.
Cheerio, DR Jane!
-
Hyde Park is lovely.
-
Have fun DR JANE!
Thanks, if only I wasn't cold.
-
There are lots of happy dogs here having fun 😊
-
It's a very lazy day.

I like Borstein on Mrs Maisel

Since it is almost next door to our hotel we ate at the original Hardrock Cafe. They used to have a fantastic bean burger which then became a decent one and often a real treat when we are traveling. They ave changed the burger to what the waiter said was a Beyond Burger. Darn.
-
I hope DC Nicky is feeling better today.
-
I'm up, I'm up - almost seven hours of sleep.
-
And we are going to try to sleep even though it is only 8::pm here.
-
I'm still watching the Emmys. The In Memoriam section was very well done.
Except they ran a picture of the very much alive Leonard Slatkin and called him Andre Previn.
Oh, my! :o

I've seen a lot of shows where the wire from the mic pack can be seen snaking up to the person's head when the actor isn't wearing a shirt (or actress, when she's in a bra). It's just what it is. The actors need to be heard.

I remember her from Mad TV. She was great on that.

I liked her in the first season. She and Tony Shaloub were the best things about the show.

Leaving in a few for Bedford Playhouse.
-
Well. We seem to be slow on news here, so...
Greetings from the Bedford Playhouse.
-
Maybe I’ll visit the restroom before the festivities begin.
-
Back from the restroom.
-
Hold the applause, please.
-
But thank you, thank you all.

I read about that last week. :o

Page three? Really?
-
Let's just nip this in the bud, shall we?
-
Where in tarnation IS everyone?
-
Most unseemly.
-
Listening to music.

Class act.
-
I won't say what class.
-
Watching an Eric Clapton concert film called Crossroads. Quite wonderful guitar playing from all involved. And the lineup is impressive: Booker T., Taj Mahal, Robert Cray, the Allman Brothers, Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson, Vince Gill, B.B. King and, of course, Clapton.
-
It's been a very long day, and I'm feeling fairly nauseous.
-
The heat isn't helping matters. It was 100 today. Welcome, fall.
-
I received a box of open bottles of liqueurs from the estate of a friend's father. So, now, in case Hercule Poirot ever drops by, I can serve him creme de banane. I think I'll end up cooking with most of these, which range from white chocolate liqueur to something called Sabra, which is a chocolate-flavored orange liqueur that's billed as "The Liqueur of Israel."
-

Yikes! I'm so sorry for you! It was overcast and rainy around here, today...which I MUCH prefer! ;D
-
Well, I'm at work, but need to leave.
Be back later.
-
Well, I'm thinking we can move on.
-
Everyone ready for the journey? Here we go ...
-
Four!
-
I sat down in the chair in the living room, just to listen from there and fell asleep for about forty minutes.
-
Forgot to say I had three slices of pizza earlier - may still have room for a little salad from Gelson's salad bar - just some lettuce and tomatoes and stuff like that - nothing caloric. We shall see.
-
Good night. all.
-
I found an interesting looking bottled marinade in the grocery the other day
-
Various spices of course but also lime, bitter orange and onion
-
I let two chicken breasts sit in the marinade in the fridge all day
-
Tonight I put them in the air fryer and they browned up beautifully and were really flavorful
-
And it only cost $1
-
Instead of a starch I just made some sautéed veggies
-
Browned some thinly sliced onions in a little oil oil then added thinly sliced green squash, sliced mushrooms, sliced red, yellow and orange sweet peppers, halved grape tomatoes
-
Added a little chicken broth and let it all simmer while the chicken was cooking
-
It was delicious
-
I had also purchased a spaghetti squash so while we ate dinner I put the squash in the air fryer and it was done when we were finished eating
-
Various spices of course but also lime, bitter orange and onion
That sounds good.
-
I scraped all the squash into a container and added the left over veggies and broth
-
That will be tomorrow’s lunch
-
Tomorrow night vixdad and I will be attending a Rick Wakeman concert
-
Its his Grumpy Old Rockstar tour
-
Various spices of course but also lime, bitter orange and onion
That sounds good.
It’s called Badia mojo marinade
-
I was wrong it’s grapefruit not lime
-
So I suppose I shouldn’t be using it I think grapefruit is taboo with some of our meds
-
Sure tasted like lime
-
I also bought tickets tonight to see a Bowie celebration featuring musicians that used to play with him
-
Not sure who will be handling vocals
-
But they are supposed to play the entire Diamond Dogs album which is Vixdad’s favorite Bowie album and the entire Ziggy Stardust album which is mine
-
The stuff from the Indiiegogo got here, and it's even better than expected. Money can't get you happiness, but donating to a BK indiegogo can get you things, and the things can bring happiness.
-
Two chickens sat in a marinade - sounded like the start of an old joke.
-
Good evening.
-
We had a lovely day with some rain. I drove in a rather scary storm picking my daughter up from work.
-
I'll have to check the rain gauge in the morning. It is supposed to rain until Thursday. Very nice.
-
Got a little salad from Gelson's. They now sell an Impossible Meatloaf - I looked at it carefully - funny thing is it LOOKS like plants, not meat.
-
Good evening.

Was it already cooked, or was it raw?

Cheyenne Jackson wore a mic in DAMN YANKEES on Broadway, and he stripped down (believe me I know) and you could see the mic pack and the chord. It certainly didn’t take away from the performance.
-
Back from the restroom.
You mean you couldn’t figure out a way to post from the restroom?
-
I can’t find a salad bar at any of the grocery stores in the Puyallup area. I hate the thought of driving back to Tacoma just to get a salad bar.
-
All alone.
-
Hi, Nobody.
-
My sister and brother-in-law are bringing my new area rug for the living room (if they aren’t fighting).
-
It is my birthday present one month and one day after the fact.
-
In all fairness, shetold me about it on my birthday, we just needed to coordinate our schedules.
-
Laura, has anyone told you what a cutie your grandchild is?
-
Second question for Laura, you said you only got a little bit of rain, but last night the news was showing film of flooding in Phoenix.
-
Hi, George.
-
So I suppose I shouldn’t be using it I think grapefruit is taboo with some of our meds
I was told that I would need to drink at least 8 ounces of grapefruit juice for it to affect my meds. I would think that the very small amount in a marinade wouldn't have any effect on meds. Just a theory.
-
Hi, George.
Hi, Tom.

That's so cool! Can't wait to get mine!

I wouldn't think that anything as inconsequential as a mic wire could take away from Cheyenne Jackson's performance...especially if he's shirtless! ;)
-
All alone.
Sorry, Tom. I'm here now.
-
So perhaps you just don’t care for that genre?
I will accept that as a reason why I don’ like either one of those.
-
My sister and brother-in-law are bringing my new area rug for the living room (if they aren’t fighting).
Do you know what it looks like? Hopefully, you like it AND it fits with your decor. :)

I am watching Stephen Colbert with Paul McCartney and I am thinking, “Wow, he is starting to look old.” But then I realize,a the man is 77 years old!

And I still look older than him.

Changing the topic - hang tight.
