Well, you've read the notes, the notes were off book, and now it is time for you to post until the off book cows come home.

Tonight, I'm ushering for a local college production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (https://www.washingtoncenter.org/event/19-11-16-curious-incident/).  I know a couple of people in the cast, so that'll be fun.

If Joshioe decides to go into City Center, I may go as well since I left him in the lurch yesterday.  I am still bummed over the printer situation, but I cannot be angry with frisky cats for behaving like frisky cats. The chief issue is, how do I afford a new printer?

If I do not go into City Center, I'll continue with the choral piece, which is about 2/3 finished.

Last night I read Act One of Anita Loos' play Gigi, which is rather charming, but not as good as Alan Jay Lerner's screenplay. I'll finish it tonight.

Kitty cleanup is finished.  The past couple of days Annabelle has been chirping and trilling, sounds she makes when she's really content, and she's begun talking to me again.  So I now have both her and Thatch talking like crazy.  Stella only makes sounds when she's angry.

I didn't last too long in REDS last night.  I guess I'm just not interested in hearing a man yell for two hours.

Both of the performances were surprisingly mediocre.  I guess the play is okay - I can't say since I didn't watch it all - but for me the characters weren't connecting or even really responding to each other - just saying lines.....

T.O.D.

I have yet to see a 2019 movie.

I don't go to theaters any longer, so I wait until the film comes out on DVD and rent it from Redbox.

Actually, it's only been the last month or so that a 2019 film has been released that I actually want to see.

I have no idea whether I’ll like RED, but I’ve made it my policy to DVR all plays, just on principle.

I’ve always loved the idea of preserving plays, going back to my beloved LPs of complete plays. So I do it, and I wish I could have started years ago.

Saturday morning greetings!

We gave up, too.  Alfred Molina is one of my favorite actors, but the material was pretty boring.  We went back to Richard's DVD of Season 1 of Elementary.

It had become something of a joke.  When my sister was around six months pregnant, her Saint Bernard (Brandy) had given birth to 14 puppies.

By the fourth week they were using four cardboard boxes, and after that they were basically on their own in the garage.

I never owned a copy, but I remember tape-recording some of the audio off TV as a kid, and following along with it in my Modern Library edition.

Fast forward to yesterday. In looking through my DVR holdings I found I’d recorded it off TCM several months ago. I’d completely forgotten that. It will be fun watching it again for the first time in years.

Back from another "line, line, line" rehearsal - a bit smoother than last night, but not much.  After we finished there was ninety minutes left so I made them do a line-through of act one.  Hopefully, that was helpful to them.  I have one actor who has a small but nice role who is so nervous about everything they can't remember two words - I mean, the role in total is maybe a couple of pages.  But this character enters in their first scene and gives Whiteside a gift of some holly.  And we have that prop.  And they carry it in, start talking, and look directly at the  prop and can't get the word "holly" out - after two minutes of that, I yelled pretty loudly, "HOLLY!"  I don't usually do that kind of thing, but I'd had it by that point.

After, Barry, Cindy, and I went to the Smoke House and had a great meal.  Garlic cheese bread, small Caesar salad, small filet mignon and some creamed spinach, and creme brûlée for dessert.  VERY full now.  Must go sit and relax and watch a movie.

We’ve just returned from taking Rob and Mary Linda and her parents out for dinner.  They’re here from Michigan helping the kids get the house ready to list.  We’re pretty useless in that department, but we can at least buy them dinner.  That’s my big outing for the weekend.

DR Laura, DR Jane is correct on both counts.  When I was finishing grad school at U of M and looking for a job I said I’d go “anywhere but Ohio.”  But jobs were available here and a great one found me, so I intended to stay 3-5 years and move on.  But then an even better job came along and I met this guy named Richard.  I may have now lived in Ohio for 46+ years, but I will never say “Go, Bucks.”

Finished with my viewing - Rocketman - enjoyable but weird in certain ways.  The Elton John actor is very good.  On Wikipedia someone actually states that this is the first film from a major studio to feature a gay sex scene.  And they justify this claim by saying Brokeback Mountain and Call Me By Your Name weren't from major studios - this seems rather stupid to me.

Did you get the outtakes on the Rocketman disc? I thought they were interesting because they touched on topics such as his work to raise money for AIDS research and raise AIDS awareness. Perhaps that a little more interesting to me, maybe because it made Elton seem like he was about more than merely music. It would have been a different movie, for sure.

This was an interesting movie. Apparently the concert was filmed but never seen, kind of like the Aretha Franklin concert movie, Amazing Grace. It was a fundraiser for Huntington's disease research three years after Guthrie died from the disease.

Some now-forgotten folks from 1970, such as Country Joe McDonald and Ramblin' Jack Elliott, handle the material well. I have always liked Joan Baez's rendition of Deportees, but I can't for the life of me understand why she purposefully mispronounces the Spanish word "y." She says something that sounds like "a." Comes off as pretentious.

Since this wasn't a movie and the running length is only 50 minutes, I wonder why there are 12 minutes of outtakes, includes a really good version of Joe Hardy and Baez singing one of my favorite Guthrie songs, Pastures of Plenty.

Of curse, when my niece is cold to my sister, she reacts by drinking more.

I don't know who you know.  Shannon Olivia Agostinelli plays the lead's mother.

Olympia Little Theatre did it last year, and it was pretty good.
