The Man Who Came To Dinner isn't a funny movie?  I think it's a hoot, not so much for Monty Woolley, who seems frozen to me, but I love Jimmy Durante, Bette Davis, and the rest of the cast.

I shall have to ponder the TOD. I have read 120 books so far this years. The book I finished yesterday, a memoir called Times New Roman, won’t make the list. It’s about a woman with no facility for languages who moves to Rome for two years and experiences very cliched things.

Yes DR ELMORE we want a full report.

More:

The full moon in logical, endlessly-curious Gemini has you asking questions about anything and everything today—and you won't stop until you get the answers you're looking for. Technology is a valuable resource now, and since the clever Gemini full moon energy puts you in total control of the flow of information, it's hard to think of a better time to gather pertinent data about what 2020 holds!

Sounds like some kind of collaboration to me.....

Back from Corky's - exactly as I predicted - jammed - I think we got the last booth.  I would also say that 90% of the people there had never stepped foot inside the place before - the manager agreed.  Because of these idiots, they were actually out of Diet Coke.  My usual sandwich was great, as it usually is.  I also noticed that they were completely out of pies.  I also noted that one table of especially irritating non-Corky's regulars had all ordered the broasted chicken.

I picked up my newly revised computer glasses today and am trying them out now. It's a little difficult to really test drive them properly as there's a problem with my right eye that the glasses are unable to address. The ophthalmologist must do that. (Long wait for an appointment.) And then the floaters get in the way, too. sigh. But so far text does seem to be clearer and sharper--vice the first pair where there was zero improvement. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel you should be able to see better with new glasses than without them.

As for the blue-light coating, I was wondering if there's a way to tell if the lab even put it on. Yes. Looking in the bathroom mirror I could see a faint blue or violet tinge to the upper part of the lens. I remember when I first had anti-reflective glare coating added to my glasses people would often ask if I was wearing eye shadow. (I never wear eye shadow.) This is similar.

Has anyone here tried the blue-light coating or known anyone who has? I'm interested in others' experiences. It'll probably be a couple weeks until I can really say if I see a difference, but my friend in Hawaii LOVES it.

Vixmom, I'm glad you were able to get your papers signed by that pig. I hope you can now close that door and savor the new office and your new boss. The holiday dinner sounds very nice, too. You'll have to give us a thorough report.

DR Jeanne I agree you should see better with new glasses.  I also know the frustration of that not happening.  Good vibes  getting your eye problem fixed.  Is this the surgery in January?

Has anyone here tried the blue-light coating or known anyone who has? I'm interested in others' experiences. It'll probably be a couple weeks until I can really say if I see a difference, but my friend in Hawaii LOVES it.

No.  I am intrigued by it and hope it works for you.

No one ever asked me if I was wearing eye shadow with anti-reflective glare coating added to my glasses, but then sometimes I would wear it & sometimes not.  I never noticed a difference except I could see better driving at night.

I don't keep track of the books I read in a given year. I took a big bags of "rejects" to the local library a few months ago. So difficult to get rid of books! But those I could part with.

No, I'll see him in late February for a consultation. He'll probably want to do a laser procedure, but it won't be that day. Nothing moves quickly with an HMO. I'm hoping his long wait is warranted. My PCP really wanted me to see him--not anyone else.

that was in the early days of anti-reflective coating (ARC). I don't see the color now in normal ARC--just the blue-light version. I definitely see better with ARC. Now, will I see better--or sleep better--with the blue-light coating? We shall see.

I figured that & was referring to those.  I wear contacts at night now & that also helps with the glare.

I love Goodreads as I can keep track of the books & write notes to myself about them.  Technically my notes are called reviews but they really are for me.

I usually give star ratings to something if I really dislike it or think it deserves a 4 or better.  Most books get nothing.  I rarely give 5 stars.  By putting stars in, or short comments to myself, it helps to jog my memory as I read so many books.

I didn't use to need to do this, but alas I do now.

Back from not attending the put-in, due to a huge blow-up with Doug Haverty.  I'd sent an e-mail saying I'd be able to get there on time and that I wanted to do act three so I could give notes to Barry's cover and then leave - no reason for me to be at a speed-through.  He'd sent an e-mail that I hadn't seen saying that I couldn't throw a curve ball, that people were showing up according to what act they were running.  Well, the first people I saw when I arrived were the Banjo and Lorraine, both of whom don't have to be there for the beginning.  Then he made the bad error of getting in my face about it and I blew up, and he made the worse mistake of telling me to leave the theater and not come back, and yet following me out when I said okie doke, and screaming at me.  I reminded him that I'd just come from a two-hour rehearsal, and that I am the director of this show, not him.  I then walked back in the theater, apologized to everyone for the blow-up, and took my leave.  And unless he apologizes to me by e-mailing the entire company, he will get his wish - I will not return to the theater, I will not show up tomorrow for the casting session, nor will I show up to any further performances of this show, and if I get really annoyed, he can find a new director for his play, which means he can find a replacement for Peyton, who won't do it if I'm not doing it.

I'm just going to calm down now and relax.

I bought a few canvas prints today on Groupon for Dad's room. They were $3 apiece. The shipping cost was $10 apiece. Still, they should add a nice touch to his room. One was of my sister Brigitte and me from last Christmas. One was of my nephew Herman with his French horn. And the third was of Mom and Dad standing with a portrait of themselves.

Saw the preview for In the Heights tonight. It shows promise, but this is one movie musical in which totally in-sync choreography seems out of place. Latin music is perhaps too sensual for rigid, lockstep choreography. Still, I really enjoyed the show on stage and have hopes for the movie. I liked the sound of Jimmy Smits singing. I don't think I've heard him sing before.
