On Monday, DR JRanmd69 posted this:
Mercury in Sag and a few other happenings point to career boosts and job offers coming along on Thursday December 12 - FULL MOON.

Just before I read this, I had received an email from a former employer inviting me to an event this evening, and I accepted.  I am very happy about this, and I am also curious about why this has occurred.  I'm saying no more about this now, but I hope to have a fuller report tomorrow.

I am looking forward to your report & hoping it is very good news.

Vixmom, congratulations to Vixdad and you. In May, it’ll be 30 years since I quit smoking.  Hard to believe the 1990s are now 30 years ago.

Congrats to you.

We grew up saying “the hot water heater”.

And then there’s “ATM machine”.

Also, a wonderfully filthy dirty one I can’t post on a nice family site.  ;)

DR George we still say tin because aluminium is a mouthfull ;)

I just say "foil" since there really isn't any other kind in common usage, so I don't need to specify which kind. ::)

The cats have an hour before dinner, but every time I walk into the room they run to their scratching posts to sharpen their claws for dinner.

I can't face their constant disappointment!

Lunch in forty-five minutes, BUT - knowing people as I do, I'm thinking Corky's might be VERY crowded with people who haven't been there in two decades suddenly needing to have a meal there.

I don't get the issue with "the" in front of hot water heater ;D

I simply say ATM.

I suspect I don't say the 3rd one ;) ;D

I should simply say foil and sometimes I do.  Sometimes I even say aluminum foil.  Often I say tin foil.

It is listed on IMDB as "in development".   I also read it this year and thought it was excellent, which I know I mentioned at the beginning of the year.

TOD:

Murder At The Magic Castle

My Cousin Rachel - which I hadn't read in many years....

Shakespeare's Ear, Beethoven's Skull, and Weird Dances - three books full of anecdotes about their titular folks and activities....

I shall see if I can think of anymore.

I have read two of these, and only one of them was read this year.

We are waiting for the rain to stop before going for a walk.  With luck it will stop & stay stopped because we are still going for a walk.

So far I have only read 116 books this year.  A good number of them were published in 2019.  I will name a few of those.

The issue isn't "the". The issue is: the water heater is for heating cold water, not hot water.
