DR vixmom, what a horrible day for your mother and you! I hope all goes well with the orthopedic surgeon on Monday. I think she's been very lucky to live on her own to the age of 88.
When my dad got into his late 70s I started to worry about his driving. He was constantly picking up and driving to Tucson, Yellowstone, wherever and whenever the urge to move took him. I had visions of his having a heart attack on some mountain road out west, taking several cars with him, and the estate ending up in unlawful death suits. When his oncologist made him give up driving at the age of 83, I heaved a big sigh of relief.
DR George is holding a pair of low cards!
DR Elmore, I’ll see your 37 and raise you 44.
This is what I bring home from Costco, two at a time.
$8.00 each.

I can barely tote the 37 lbs! I was just comparing prices on my litter: $25.95 at Amazon, $15.95 at Petco.
The POLITESSE of the general public has been tried during the pandemic to be sure.
Example from the Long Island Nuz this morning:
"Yesterday while we were waiting in line to get into the grocery store some woman claimed she was only going in to get her glasses fixed and the policeman let her in! I'm sure she was going in to get ice cream and toilet paper."
DR GEORGE if I end up with a bag that can't be closed.....I use a chip clip or two.....of course litter is much heavier....but at least it would be closed.

Okay, here's what I have: It's called "B'WAY - Broadway, The American Musical", and it's on three (3) Blu-ray Discs which certainly sounds like it would have to be a gold mine. However, I believe I only sampled it when I got it and found it kind of disappointing. I suspect it's similar but not as good as "Broadway's Lost Treasures".
ChasSmith, what Coppola did you watch?

I'll second that. Looking forward to it.

That says it all, right there. Hoping for a better couple of days for vixmom.
I discovered around ten years ago that I was lactose intolerant, so I gave up milk. This past week I finally tried Lactaid and loved it. I'm back to cereal for breakfast.
I went out to feed the kitties this morning. They're slightly getting used to me. I was able to stand there and watch the Mama Cat eat from about four feet away while they ran in and out of the shed. One even started feeding on her while the mother ate. As long as I don't move, they'll ignore me -- unless we make eye contact. Then they get all shy and run back into the shed and hide.
It was a pretty dreadful night, every time I’d doze off she would start in again
After being on hold for a half hour on my cell I grabbed the house phone and called the pharmacy
She is finally sleeping
My brother reached him and he is going to see Mom tomorrow morning
So I feel like she’ll be in better hands

Believe me, when I get these home and UPSTAIRS to the room where the litter boxes are, I’m about done for the day. :) (This is also where having a car and a nearby Costco make all the difference!)
DR Vixmom was the letter ever mailed?

In 1966 I worked at the Bruin Theater when this was showing. One day Tony Bill came in to see the movie. Another girl & working behind the candy counter were all smiles over the super cute guy we helped. After he went in to the movie the door man couldn't stop laughing because we had no clue it was Tony Bill. He was much better looking in person ;D
Hello, 9-1-1? There’s been an accident! No, I don’t think anyone was hurt. It looks like a movie reminiscence got into a wreck with a cat litter comparison. Yes, we’ll wait here, thank you.

I had been wondering if the movie was titled Kitty Litter or if Kitty Litter was the star!
DR Vixmom was the letter ever mailed?
Yes the person who called me mailed it for her

I couldn't remember if it was the Village or the Bruin. It opened there on December 9, 1966 and I must have seen it either on my birthday or a day or two after. Did I say hi to you?
DR George, 9 lb. bags of litter? I get 37 lb. cartons!

For some reason I do not know - we were shown YOU'RE A BIG BOY NOW at school.....I don't even remember what class it was in or what the reason was.
I thought it was very amusing and I thought Peter Kastner was very funny.....the next time I saw him was in the TV show THE UGLIEST GIRL IN TOWN.....or maybe I had seen that first.....
Strange.....what you remember and what you don't......

DR Jane I am curious if people give presents for a zoom birthday party. My niece is having her 11th birthday next Sunday over zoom. But it never occurred to me that people would do presents. I suppose that some could do gift cards. But I honestly have no idea what people will do.
Hope that works - fast Internet speeds are key with Facebook - not so much YouTube, though.
DR George, 9 lb. bags of litter? I get 37 lb. cartons!
It's only 9 lbs because there's no clay. It uses corn husk fibers as the clumping agent, so it's much less heavy. I don't know what the equivalent would be, but it does last a while. And, there's NO dust whatsoever. That also happens with clay litter...even when it says it's their "lowest dust formula" or something like that. :P
Of course, my mom now has to drive him everywhere, but since he can't go to the casino now, the only places that she takes him are to his church and doctors' appointments.
I got up at 5 a.m. for my 1.5 hour walk. Then my daughter and I drove up north to check on some unusual native plants I had found in the National Forest. I had seen some construction going on in the fall. We discovered that everything had been leveled and a picnic ramada now stands where the plants were.
Vixmom, I suggest that Vixdad gives the car the nun treatment. Like in Sound of Music.
I hear the great mezzo-soprano Rosalind Elias has died. I met her after she had been in the last Follies revival.

I'm up, I'm up - almost eight hours of sleep.
In her later years, my mother only drove to the doctor and grocery store (within two miles) and the church, which at that time was about six miles away. She had been driving there for so many years she couldn't get lost.
The last couple of months she didn't drive at all. So I was pretty lucky that way.

To follow on DR Jeanne's question, I'll just say I'm amazed at how anyone -- pianist, singers, anyone -- deals with clicks and tracks and re-recordings and all that modern day stuff. I'd certainly be open to learning it myself. In fact, I should be learning it. But there were only a couple of places where I said, "Aha! He/She missed a beat on the track" or something like that. But everyone was such a pro that there seemed not the slightest chance of anything really derailing.

Well she’s not going to be able to drive for several months. After that I’ll make my brothers, especially the youngest, ( who is the favorite child - whatever he says is gospel and he walks 6 inches above the ground) deal with the car issue.
I was saddled with the job when we had to take Dad’s car keys. I’ve paid my dues
I guess I'll be nice and won't mention the names of those who weren't - they know who they are :)
Well, this is some good news. I'd heard something about this, but this short article give a little more information: FDA approves coronavirus antibody test that boasts near-perfect accuracy (https://nypost.com/2020/05/03/fda-approves-coronavirus-antibody-test-that-boasts-near-perfect-accuracy/). :)

If it opened on the 9th you probably saw it after your birthday ;) If you saw me you said hello. I expect it was initially very busy. Tony Bill went in on a semi quiet showing.
