Title: KRITZERLAND AT HOME 105
Post by: bk on May 04, 2020, 12:17:38 AM
Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of Kritzerland at Home 105 and how we did it, and now it is time for you to post until the 105 cows come home.

It was really fun and very interesting to read about how you put it all together.  I wondered if the songs were prerecorded, only because the online 90th Sondheim birthday concert was also all prerecorded.  Raúl Esparsa was supposed to interject some live bits, but that didn't work, so they just showed the prerecorded videos, which everyone seemed to love...I certainly did.  Now that this Kritzerland show is over, will you watch that one?  It's still available to watch here (if anyone else is interested, too):

And a question about something in your notes about The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone..."Lotte Lenya, appearing in only her second film (her first was thirty years later), is spectacular...." ???

;)

Well, I need to get to sleep.  I actually want to go to work for a bit in the late morning because last Thursday, I got a call asking for a reference for someone I worked with, but not at the library.  I wasn't at work on Thursday and was going to call back on Friday, but the fates conspired against me, so I want to call today.  I'm sure that it won't be too late for the person who used me as a reference...hopefully.

Anyway, have a good day, all!

But the Sondheim thing - they have never owned up to the fact that the videos were recorded have they?  I think people figure that out on their own?
Title: Re: KRITZERLAND AT HOME 105
Post by: DR Iris on May 04, 2020, 03:16:59 AM
Most of the Sondheim show was pre-recorded.
There was supposed to be live time commentary, but that didn’t go well.
Title: Re: KRITZERLAND AT HOME 105
Post by: DR Iris on May 04, 2020, 03:24:40 AM
And, yes, they did discuss how the videos were pre-recorded.
The plan was to have Raul Esparza add live time commentary and introductions, but they were not able to solve the technical problems, so the live commentary was scrapped.

I started on BookFace but it did get glitchy and I missed some stuff trying to figure it out.....so then I gave up and went to YouTube which worked like a dream.....

I missed the first part of the show last night.  I came on during Sal's number, and I loved the young soprano who sang the "Home" medley.  Yes, that was former DR Francois watching.

I just checked the Petco site to ascertain the treats were available at Petco on 86th and Lexington, and the site says they are available again at the 92nd & Broadway store, where I bought the last two on Saturday!  That means they must have checked more in on Saturday afternoon or yesterday.  Do I trust them or head across town?  They open at 10, so if I leave here around 9:00, I should be fine.

T.O.D.

Back in my Seattle days, I directed productions of CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF and SUDDENLY LAST SUMMER for my  group, ACTORS' THEATRE.  The productions were presented at the Woman's Century Club on Capital Hill.

Several years later, I had the pleasure of meeting Williams when I did publicity for a Los Angeles production of his THE TWO-PERSON PLAY.

Sorry TCB,  I apparently quoted the wrong comment.  It should have been this one by DR Chas:

"I never even heard of You’re a Big Boy Now, so I never ordered it from the Warner Archive. That will have to be rectified sometime, hopefully when there’s a good release."

The movie with Tony Bill was "You're a Big Boy Now".

The grocery store had only about a dozen patrons.  My brother, sister in law, and I were wearing masks and gloves....I would say about 1/3 of the folks there were.

A BIG FAT WOMAN pushed in front of me to get a cart.....then stood in the way while wiping down the handle with a wipe again and again.....then throwing it away .... and getting another wipe to do it again....

I met her in practically every aisle I went down.....with her cart in the MIDDLE of the aisle so no one could get around her in any direction.....

She was buying mostly what she had coupons for....but at least I did get to the checkout line before she did.

I found everything I wanted except for some beef stew flavor mix....but that's okay....

Yes, with Helen Mirren.  I liked it, but I prefer the subtleties and innuendos/euphemisms of the first one.

Thatch will never know the expressions of love, but I went up to the Petco on 92nd and Broadway to find that their website info was wrong; I purchased the last two bags of treats on Saturday.  So, I went back to 86th Street and took the crosstown bus to the East Side, and went to the Petco at 86th and Lexington.  There were six bags and I purchased five.  I am now home, and happy to have treats for my boy.

A Dollar Store security guard was shot in the head and killed in a Michigan today.

He asked a woman to comply with the governors mandate to wear a mask before entering the store.

She spit at him and left, came back with family members, one of whom shot him

My book group met outside on the lawn.  It was very nice.  We all sat at least 6 feet away.  All but one person left off their masks so I could hear.  Of course the one with the mask on is the one with the softest voice-lol.

Watching Eric Rohmer’s A Tale of Springtime. It’s gorgeous. Plus, it has people talking. It’s such beautiful talk.

Are there recordings of either?

HERE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1aF002qAYo) is an interview with the composter on University of California Television (UCTV).  There are a few excerpts throughout the almost hour-long episode.  It was posted January 1, 2020.

I have a question!  If all these airlines are going to require all passengers to wear masks, what do the passengers do when they pass out the drinks and the snacks?

Sorry TCB,  I apparently quoted the wrong comment.  It should have been this one by DR Chas:

"I never even heard of You’re a Big Boy Now, so I never ordered it from the Warner Archive. That will have to be rectified sometime, hopefully when there’s a good release."

The movie with Tony Bill was "You're a Big Boy Now".

Thank you, Jane.  I thought I was losing my mind.  I read that post over and over again, but I couldn’t figure it out.
