Well, you've read the notes, the notes were hoarded, and now it is time for you to post until the hoarding cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: NOCTILUCENT!
-
And I forgot to mention that I had two chicken legs for dinner last night, nothing more. Because the breast is yet to come!

:))
-
Good morning, all.
-
Apples and onions are a great side dish. But I can’t see hoarding them.
-
Good morning, all!
-
After a pretty good night's sleep the night before, last night was a mess. A couple of months ago I decided to purchase two new pillows and dump the old. Now I want them back.
-
I have no plans today. We are in for a rainy weekend, but I do need to walk to the post box and mail a few things.
-
BK, that Pearls of Cleopatra, one of several Strauis operettas I do not know, looks interesting, but I hate productions that send the cast prancing through the audience. I think you might like The Chocolate Soldier or Der Tapfere Soldat, Oscar Straus' adaptation of Shaw's comedy Arms and the Man.

~~~~~~ Groan! ~~~~~~
Last night I watched Jake Tapper's CNN interview with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. After four years of stammers, lies, incomplete sentences, grudges, and contradictions, it was a delight to hear intelligence and integrity are returning to the While House.
-
We also watched John Ford's 1949 She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, which I had never seen. I wanted to see it for Mildred Natwick, but I was blown away by John Wayne's wonderful performance and the great character actors.
-
Last night, we watched THE CHILDREN ACT with Emma Thompson.
Overall, an excellent film, though I thought it ended rather abruptly.
What will we watch this weekend?
No idea.
-
The film I'm looking forward to seeing is MANK...just as soon as it becomes available via Redbox.
-
Good morning to all
-
We are not in lockdown but the same problem here all of a sudden
-
BK can you explain the differences using a camera negative vs an interpretive when it come to creating transfers? Is there suc a thing as an inter negative?
-
Good morning, all.
-
Feels like a Saturday because we're all here and getting ready to go out and get the tree rather than wait till tomorrow. And now we've got to beat some rain that's on its way, which is also supposed to continue through tomorrow. So you see, you can't win.
-
Thank you!
-
Sounds like I had better inform the troops that we're stopping at every grocery store between here and the tree farm and buying up every apple and onion they have. Can't be too careful.
-
I just hope we get there before everyone else in the Greater Danbury region wakes up and gets moving.
-
I liked Cleopatra's Pearls......but like DR ELMORE and The Man In The Chair - "Dear God, please keep the actors out of the audience...."
The stage choreography was nice and I liked a lot of the groupings and movements......which I may borrow for the second act opening of JOSEPH.....if we get to do it......
-
DR TCB I think the program that you were anxious to see has already been broadcast.
Yesterday at 1 p.m. on TCM you could have seen ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN.....however it is available OnDEMAND.
-
DR JANE the governor was talking about the hospitals.....those seem to be in the northern part of Indiana not in the Middle of the Middle where I live......
-
Wonder of wonder miracle of miracles......the dividend arrived today.....and it was more than expected.
I put the teeth money in the checking account and the bulk of it in the savings account......so we shall see what we shall see. I don't want to have the appointment until after Dec 16 when we have our Christmas meeting.....so I will go next week to set that up.
My mouth will be happy.
-
I bought a package of three rolls of PT a couple of weeks ago, so I have plenty.....
I only need TP for guests since I no longer indulge - so I'm still good there....TP wise.
-
If we're going for sophistication around these here parts, allow me to interject The Tap Dancing Noses.
Thank you!
Don’t we have Gower Champion and Carnival! to thank for that in modern times? And can you imagine the Met ever doing that?
-
Hi, Laura!
-
Oops, she’s gone.
-
I’ll NOCTILUCENT into you. Or I’ll knock some sense into him.
-
From Bruce:
Jane, I have plenty of paper towels because I buy in bulk from Amazon twice a year.
You were just making an observation ;D Amazon, why not stock up at Costco?
-
DR JANE the governor was talking about the hospitals.....those seem to be in the northern part of Indiana not in the Middle of the Middle where I live......
Yes, hospital beds. I am glad it is in only one area of Indiana.
-
Yay for extra money. Vibes all goes well with the dental work.
-
Yes, I was worried about Pearls with the audience stuff at the top, but in the thirty minutes I saw that followed, that never happened again. Mostly, I liked the fun of the staging and that everyone was having fun.
-
I'm up, I'm up - eight hours of sleep. Will be doing fixes on yesterday's chart at one, and sent the final two.
-
Haven't heard about picking up the shot yet, but I'm pretty sure it will happen as planned tomorrow at two-thirty.
-
Now I must catch up on a few other things.
That's great, Jrand!
Good Afternoon
Nothing new to report - although we did have a first grade cohort exposed to COVID so the teacher and the cohort are away for 2 weeks, which brings them up to Christmas Break. The reading teacher is out again - as she was out with the last cohort that was exposed (different grade) so I feel bad for her.
That's all I got for now.
-
I usher tonight for Jaston Williams’ new show, Blood and Holly: Christmas West of the Pecos. I need some laughs.
-
DR Matthew when the teachers have to quarantine but are healthy, do they teach from home?
-
DR Matthew when the teachers have to quarantine but are healthy, do they teach from home?
Yes.
-
A walk this morning helped my mood which was very low. It was very hard reading the news that only 13% of health workers in Illinois will be vaccinated once it is available.
-
DR Matthew when the teachers have to quarantine but are healthy, do they teach from home?
Yes.
At least they are still working.
-
I'm jealous!
-
We are back with the Griswold family Christmas tree. It's in its stand, "resting" in the garage overnight.
-
;D Enjoy.
I'm jealous!
So am I!
-
It's in its stand, "resting"
It's almost like it's an extra in The Ritz.
-
Glad for DR Jrand70's good financial news.
-
I had trouble sleeping last night; when I woke up, it was just in time to log in for work, so I missed catching up on last night's posts and today's notes until just now, after work.
-
Vixdad just flew in from Fresno. And boy, are his arms
tired sore.
-
I think we'll watch The Shop Around the Corner tonight. Wonder what put that into my head? :)
-
Open Enrollment deadline in MN is 12/22. I'll be starting to work more nights and weekends, including tomorrow.
-
bk, are you aware of this Barber box set? It is 8 discs, and seems to have multiple renditions of a lot of the big pieces.
-
Three!
-
I saw that Barber set, but I already have most of its contents on other CDs. I do like many of those performances.
-
Picked up one package - a lovely early birthday gift from FLJ and his ever-lovin' Skip - but that was an unexpected one - another package was there that I knew had been delivered. I specifically asked if he was sure there were no other packages and he said yes, so I assumed the one package was the one that had been delivered. Once home, I saw this wasn't it and called back the mail place and said they have to stop doing this crap - and if I specifically ask about another package, they have to actually look while I'm there. Now I won't get the other package until tomorrow.
-
I think you need to always ask them to double check if there is another package.
What's wrong with these people?? :o How difficult can it really be?
-
Excellent news from JRand! Congratulations!
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I was looking forward to a relatively light week, but it proved to be quite a hectic one. Some of that was with Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. Many good deals on things I would buy anyway--not just the usual electronics, toys, Christmasy things.
-
I went to a much-needed acupuncture treatment today, then stopped for some take-out.
-
People here are really getting frustrated with the stay-at-home orders. Closing outdoor dining really got to a lot of people. Twice this week I heard rants--one from a restaurant employee, one from a customer--both blaming elected officials. People are frustrated and blaming whoever they can blame. It's like kicking the dog. I know the system isn't perfect, but they are using case counts and now ICU capacity to determine the degree of lockdown. That's rational. Some of the people ranting are not.
-
I went to Ralph's a couple days ago for TP. Plenty on the shelves, but prices had all been blocked out. What?! The Ralph's near me is not a great place to shop, but it's close by.
-
I checked two stores for hydrogen peroxide. None to be found. The drug store told me they can't get it. There was an article a week or so ago about mouthwash killing the Covid virus. I suspect that's what prompted the sell-out. Whoda thunk it?
-
Congrats to Jrand on his dividend check. I'm also pleased to hear he will have a happy mouth for the holidays.
-
TTFN.
Were you able to order it online or can you do without it?
That is very odd.
It is a shame outdoor dining could not stay open. We still have it here, for now. I hope the restaurants were busy today as it was nice out, even got up to 50 degrees.
Why are they not vaccinating more health workers?
-
Some folks in LA have court-challenged the outdoor dining thing and the judge has told county health officials to show up with absolute proof that shows outdoor dining has caused a single case or spike. This they will not be able to do.
-
They won't have enough vaccinations to meet the demand.
"the federal government is allocating doses based on state populations, rather than the proportion of the populations at high risk. That means some states’ health workers will be better protected than others."
Alabama for instance, will receive enough vaccine for around 17% of its healthcare workers, while Illinois could cover only 13%, according to data from state officials.
The approach would initially leave out around 190,000 healthcare workers in Alabama and more than 570,000 in Illinois"
-
Is it still Friday? Why, yes. Yes, it is. Then I shall answer the TOD to say that I just received, and just watched, the "NY Export: Opus Jazz" DVD.
I watched the entire disc, a nice serving of eye and ear candy, straight through. And I have a dumb question. I'm prefacing it as dumb because I have to have somehow missed an important credit, even though I've actively looked for it. What orchestra is playing the piece in the film, and who's conducting?
-
Is anyone even tracking this information? Indoor dining as more issues due to ventilation. I expect outdoor depends on the seating.
-
DR Jennifer it will be interesting to see how Canada distributes the vaccine.
Hopefully within a few months they will be able to take care of more health care workers.
-
I think it is going in terms of priority. I'm not sure if every province is different. But I think here it will be seniors homes, people 80+ and health care workers first.
Also Christmas visits that were announced a few weeks ago are now cancelled. So no visiting other homes :(
Yes. And hopefully Bryan won't catch it before then.
Canadians seems to be taking better precautions and you have far fewer cases than we do. I suspect you will be able to cover your health care workers in the first round.
RIP Pamela Tiffin, 78
-
ChasSmith - odd they don't credit the band or conductor - I don't think it's the original recording, is it?
-
Finished with my viewing.
-
Listening to the last of the Shostakovich string quartets. Fifteen of 'em in all.
-
It has been a long evening.
-
Jaston Williams was fun, his show was a nice mix of both touching stories and some big belly laughs.
-
I will try to report more tomorrow when I'm a little less tired.
-
I came home to make a couple of my tarts, the only ones I'm making this Christmas. I couldn't find the tart pans. I'm sure I have looked at them often in recent weeks, but tonight they were nowhere to be seen.
-
So, I had to use other pans. Not ideal.
-
During that, I listened to tonight's version of A Christmas Carol, a 1939 radio version with Lionel Barrymore as Scrooge. It was fun.
-
I've started on an unabridged audio version of the book, but that's 3 hours long, so I won't finish it tonight.
-
And that's about all I've got.
-
Gratuitous post No. 99!
-
Good night, all.
-
Listening again to Irrelohe by Schreker - it's very wonderful.
-
Your delicious tarts, yum. What flavor did you make?
-
I bought a new dehumidifier from Amazon
-
It was delivered today
-
It is extremely heavy I had a difficult time getting it into the house from the front steps
-
And the postman left it right outside the door to make it easy
-
Vixdad’s arms are still so painful that he cannot lift anything
-
I have no idea how we’ll get it to the basement
-
The old one was overheating
-
Once it melted the extension cord I knew it had to go
-
Vixdad’s arms are still so painful that he cannot lift anything
I'm sorry. I hope they will recover soon.
That's scary.
One word at a time?
-
We just caught up on what we've been doing over the last couple of weeks, then we talked about our FICO scores and credit histories, and that my friend Margo (he also knows her from ushering at the Washington Center) got a new dog a couple of days ago.
-
Just random (very random) topics. :)
