Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both branded and stigmatized, and now it is time for you to post until the branded and therefore stigmatized cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AVUNCULAR!
-
jan, that's a very nice photo for your new avatar!
-
Today, I'm going to visit my friend Margo and meet (in person...or dogson) her new dog, Veronica Mars. Margo had said that if I'm planning on going to Costco anyway, she would greatly appreciate it if I could pick up three things for her. It's essentially on my way, so as long as they have the three items in stock, I'll get them. After that (if it's early enough), I'll go back to my sister's and help her put up some outside Christmas lights. Then, I'll come back home for the day.
-
While I like it, that is a long name for a dog.
-
Have fun playing with Veronica.
-
While I like it, that is a long name for a dog.
Yup. That'll be her official name. Margo said that she's calling the dog just "V" for short.
-
Have fun playing with Veronica.
Thanks, Jane! I'm sure I will.
-
V is better for calling her.
-
V is better for calling her.
Definitely!

Well, this is an interesting recent interview...Jewish doctor opens up about treating patient with Nazi tattoos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDINgsa_hXU).
-
I saw the story but not the interview. Sadly it isn't uncommon. It seems worse when treating someone also puts your health at risk.
-
I don't know about covid patients with nazi tattoos, however, Bryan has treated other people with them.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I am listening to Bach's Cantatas for Advent.
-
DR George, please post a photo of Veronica.
-
I slept well until around 4:00, when Stella's excessive romping began, a combination of racing over my bed, checking on me, lying down with me for a moment before running off to play with Thatch. I didn't much sleep for those two hours, but I did have a dream about packing up a hotel room/apartment/college room/God alone knows what.
-
I need to vacuum today, and I have no plans beyond that and the usual cleanup.
-
The Flying Wallendas - boy, are their arms tired!
-
I seem to remember reading somewhere that two-syllable names were best for pets. I'm really unclear now if I really read that, and why that would be.
-
Of course, people should name their pets whatever they feel like.
-
Enjoyed the presentation, DR Jrand70.
-
Good morning, all.
-
It’s Sunday. What will the day bring?
Well, it’s sunny again. Yesterday was horrid with rain all day from a nor’easter, which thankfully didn’t threaten this area with snow.
-
Good morning, all.
-
I have to face paying a few bills, and we have to work on cleaning up our mess from clearing the spot for the tree and bringing it in. We will hopefully be decorating it this evening, to the sounds of delightful holiday music.
-
Jane, Joy tells me her husband is in stable condition.
-
My dream was one of starting to play a show being staged in what seemed like a restaurant where I was in a room adjacent to where the thing was happening and I couldn’t see anything or anyone in it. It might have been just me playing, but I’m not sure about that. There were two keyboards and I tried moving from one to the other for a better vantage point, but they weren’t set up or equipped equally and I didn’t know which was the better one to use. I had stopped paying attention for a moment, and suddenly had no idea if a cue line had gone by and whether the cast was waiting for me out there because things were suddenly awfully quiet. I asked people around me for help on where they were in the dialogue, but no one responded adequately and, waking up, I could only assume that it all went to hell right there.
-
A fruitcake tradition. DR John G.'s excepted.
-
A dreadful predicament, DR ChasSmith. :-X
-
My two-year old Lacie external hard drive has died. What the hell good is it now that I am unable to retrieve any files from the past two years of backups? As Annabelle would say, this is most vexing.
-
Page 2 Dance!
-
A fruitcake tradition. DR John G.'s excepted.
I love it.
-
Oh no, DR elmore3003. I hope there is some technical help somewhere to retrieve your files.
-
This looks good. Cranberry Christmas Cake:

I am officially accepting all regifted/unwanted fruitcakes. Your donation is tax deductible. Because I say so.
Seriously, I love 'em.
And that cranberry thing looks wonderful.
-
And I'm sorry and alarmed to hear of DR Elmore's external HD failure. This is the stuff of wide awake nightmares.

And, yes, that cranberry cake looks wonderful!
-
Thanks DR singdaw and DR JOHN G.....
I agree with DR JOHN G about the script....I, too, especially like Christmas Present & Belle - and I also liked Fan, who also played Martha Cratchit.
I wish I had been able to work with Scrooge on his makeup in person, but there was no way.....
Thanks DR VIXMOM yes it is still available at the link....and I have downloaded it for my files.
-
DR jan certainly looks lovely in her new avatar!
Ironically very Pamela Tiffen-ish.
-
CRANBERRIES!

What's the buzz?

What game show (past or present) do each of you Dear Readers think you might have liked to be on.......
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? In 1998 or 1999 I was one of friends to be called for my friend Charlie, who won quite a lot. The irony is, I could have answered the question he lost.
-
I always liked the $100,000 Pyramid originally ($25,000, I think).
-
Hello everyone...new Broadway Radio Show is now up on this here site. It's the HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE for 2020....lots of holiday music from artists like Leslie Odom Jr., Morgan James, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe and more. As well as selections from new live cast recordings of Les Miz and Mary Poppins....some fun book recommendations....and much much more! Enjoy!!!
-
Good morning.
-
We were supposed to make snowflakes for church this morning, but they never said a word about them.
-
So I packed a half dozen for my daughter to take the her coworker's kids tomorrow and a half dozen went to the kids next door.
-
Always fun to make, of course, but I wouldn't have spent the time if they weren't going to do anything with them.
-
DR Laura - those look good enough to be on the cover of a cookbook.
-
I just lost, big time, at cribbage. We are now going for a walk. The DH just got Nordic walking poles, so he wants to give them a try. If he likes them, I may get some for myself. They're supposed to give you a greater workout, by involving more of your body's systems.

I thought this was a fun analysis of the "how many triangles" problem:

Thanks for the Broadway Radio Hour reminder, DR Donald! Churning out quite the number of episodes, lately!
-
Thank you Donald!
-
DR ELMORE that is a sad story.
Pyramid would be fun if Dick Clark weren't such a big one of his first name.
-
My nephew and his wife just had their new son.....at 10:30 this morning.....Grayson Wayne.......
Everyone is doing fine!
-
Such happy news, DR Jrand70! Congratulations!!!!
-
THREE!!
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Giuliani has tested postive for COVID. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
-
Sunday afternoon greetings!
My nephew and his wife just had their new son.....at 10:30 this morning.....Grayson Wayne.......
Congratulations, DR JRand, on the birth of your great-nephew! He was born on the 13th birthday of our GN Timothy and we just made a porch drop-off for him and his siblings. Sister Rachel turns 8 on Thursday and older brother Nathan turns 16 next Sunday. December birthdays are the best!
-
I seem to remember reading somewhere that two-syllable names were best for pets. I'm really unclear now if I really read that, and why that would be.
You are correct. One is ok.
-
Jane, Joy tells me her husband is in stable condition.
I am glad to hear this. My FB friend who's 91 year old mother recovered now has her mother in-law with covid. They both are in different nursing homes in different states. The mother in-law had gastric symptoms which she hadn't connected to covid. Everyone was tested after a couple of employees tested positive.
-
Since there will be a shortage of vaccines I think if just the employees are of care facilities are vaccinated then the residents will stop getting it.

In this past week, two of my friends lost their mothers to Covid-19. They were both in their 90s and in assisted living facilities.

It is very sad and very scary.
-
That is horrible and sad, DR Ginny.

Exactly.

A neighbor came over today to tell me that I had a water leak. I thought he was the one with the leak. So, I now have to make an appointment with a plumber to come over and see what they can do for me. Ugh. This might delay my trip to Louisville, but hopefully by no more than a day or two.
-
I ushered for a local dance studio's Christmas show. All of the kids were wearing masks, at least most of the time. And the dancing was good. Some of the little girls were too tiny, but they were up there shaking it.
-
The owner of the dance studio also featured solos from friends and acquaintances. My favorite was the singer who sang O, Holy Night and followed it up with Creole Lady Marmelade, a song I find appropriate for a show with 5-year-olds shaking it up.
-
You can't make this stuff up.
-
The show started late and ran long. The theater isn't doing intermissions now and nothing is supposed to last more than 80 minutes. This was 2.5 hours long and did have an intermission. It was private event, but they still had guidelines they were supposed to follow -- and didn't.

Good luck with a quick, not too expensive, fix.

Stay well vibes!

Finishing up a beautiful but sad book called Jack. It's the latest in Marilynne Robinson's cycle that started with Gildead and includes Home and Lila.
-
Back from Marshall Harvey's. He did a great job and I actually don't think I changed a single edit, save for one scene, where we used a couple of different shots. We spent two hours finessing the music and sound, and we were able to adjust the framing of a few shots to make them look a bit better. I'm happy with it all.
-
That's great news, BK. I think you spoil us with the high quality of your shows, especially in terms of sound. I watched Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens recently. The cast was top-notch. The monologues were given to perfect people. But the sound, especially on the some of the singing, was not what it need to be.
-
Last night, I watched my third Richard Strauss opera, Ariadne auf Naxos. I loved every minute of it. It was from 1988 and the cast was sheer perfection. Jessye Norman was imperious and hilarious, while Kathleen Battle was sheer perfection. Such a shame that her career derailed. She was joy unalloyed. But apparently not backstage.
-
.
-
Glad everything is falling into place for your playlet, bk.

~~~PLUMBING VIBE$~~~ for DR John G.!!!!
Been decorating the tree
Just took a break to cook and eat dinner
Good Evening- just another ordinary Sunday. Except one of our services is outside. I'm really not a fan, mostly of the set up and no one really being in charge. Whatever....
The rest of the day was kinda lazy, did some laundry, sorted some boxes, etc. Decided not to stress about the condition of the apartment today. Tomorrow is another day.
Oh, no! It's been quite a few years since I've lost a hard drive, but I've lost a couple of flash drives and it can be devastating! :(
Even Margo realizes that "Veronica" is too long, so it's going to be Vee (sp?), and probably several as yet undecided nicknames.
That concept is not unique. There's a local dance studio that also (in my humble opinion) has a tendency to feature moves in appropriate for the younger dancers...but they do, anyway. ::)
Just read B.J. Chute’s story, Journey to Christmas. Heartwarming. I wonder if any of her other stuff, including Greenwillow, is still available. Guess I will check Amazon.
That's too bad. The Washington Center has started up some events, but I haven't volunteered for any, yet. Hopefully, they're enforcing the guidelines.
Hi, Tom and Jane.
Jane, Joy tells me her husband is in stable condition.
I am glad to hear this. My FB friend who's 91 year old mother recovered now has her mother in-law with covid. They both are in different nursing homes in different states. I got a message today from my stepdaughter that my oldest stepson died on Thursday. Buz went to the hospital with possible CoVid symptoms. He tested negative, but while he was there his heart stopped, and they couldn’t revive him.
Buz had never told me this, but he had been suffering from COPD. That was the same thing that basically killed his mother.
One more reason to end this crappy 2020!
He went by Lawson or Ward.
I met him in the early 1990s, when I started doing theater here in Olympia. I knew a few people who knew him fairly well, but I never really got to know him.
