Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of the first play reading reading, and now it is time for you to post until the play reading cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BUSK!
-
That's a great picture, BK.
-
My dad was one of six siblings, but I don't think they ever had a family picture of everyone. Now, only my two aunts are left. All four of the brothers have died.
-
And on that happy note (D-flat ::) ), I'm off to bed.
Have a good day, all!
-
Good morning, all!
-
It got really cold last night, but I was buried in cat fur, since all three cats joined me, and I slept rather well.
-
Yesterday was my day to be out, and so today I will stay in and try to finish this orchestration.
-
Around 1955, maybe a little earlier, a new family moved into the house catty-cornered from ours across the street. He was a handsome, narcissistic construction body builder and his wife was a pretty, very thin beautician. They had a baby not more than a year old, and I remember that they were very nice to my brother Macbeth and me. I wish now I had asked my dad about them because something happened tghat put an end to the socializing between them, my family, and our neighbors that became the catalyst for their moving away. I had always thought that our neighbor Jean had had an affair with the man across the street and that all hell had broken loose when the beautician caught them together.
-
When my mother died in June 1994, I saw our neighbor Jean at her funeral, and I asked my Aunt Jenny her what she knew about the events involving 3004 Goldman Avenue. Did Jean have an affair with him? I asked her.
No, dear, she told me, your mom had the affair.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Quite a shocker there, Elmore.
-
Great photo, BK.
-
Happy birthday to my sister Annaliese.
-
Have a holly, jolly Divali, if anyone is celebrating the festival of lights.
-
I really liked the family portrait, BK.
-
I have a lot to drag to the basement this morning.
-
Happy Dia de los Muertos, y’all.
-
DR JOHN G I thought your sister's name was Abbavekke.
-
Congrats to MR BK & Co on the successful reading..... I would have given that audience member directions for a journey of her own.
-
Finding the thing vibes for MR BK.
-
Oh my DR ELMORE!
-
I think I may have mentioned this story here before.
On his hospital deathbed, my mother's father told his oldest son a story. My grandmother was 15 years old. She rode the streetcar from her home in Brooklyn (Indiana NOT NY) to Mooresville three days a week to baby sit with the children of a doctor whose wife was an invalid.
From about the second week, the doctor began to attack her - but she was too afraid to tell anybody. Finally after a few months, she found out she was expecting a baby.
My grandfather and her sister came up with a plot. He went to the doctor's house and beat him with a two by four....they thought he was dead, but he was not. Within a week, the doctor and his family moved out of town.
My grandfather and the sister had been engaged to be married. She immediately broke everything off with him and he married the girl - my grandmother.....and my aunt their first baby was born a few months later.
The sister never married - although she had a child years later - and they all lived together until after two more children, the house was too crowded.
The End.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Oh my, what have I stumbled into this morning?
These sordid tales of lust and infamy!
-
I wonder what they were putting in the water in the Midwest in the mid-20th century!
Like I should talk, as my roots are right there in Columbus.
But honestly, except for my uncle finding out at the tender age of 75 that he had been adopted, and managing - with the help of our family genealogy expert - to track down his birth family and everyone becoming close friends thereafter, our history is a pretty boring one.
-
That's a superb picture, BK. The sheer number of people captured at that moment is unique. I could only wish we had anything close to it in my family. But it's a great photograph besides.
One of our best ones was taken when my mom and dad were married, with all of my then-still-living grandparents and great-grandparents in the photo. I already have it in digital form. I should dig it out and size it for posting, just for the pure hell of it.
-
Okay, here are a couple.
At my mom and dad's wedding in Columbus, Ohio, 1948: Dad's mother, Dad, Mom, Mom's mother and father.
-
For our family, this one was the money shot:
Back: My mom's father and mother, my dad's mother, my mom's paternal grandfather.
Front: My dad's maternal grandmother and grandfather, my mom's maternal grandmother, my mom's paternal grandmother.
I grew up knowing all of these to some extent or other, except for my dad's grandfather who died around the time I was born or soon thereafter.
-
But so few scandals! We were a boring lot, I'm afraid.
-
I yield the floor.
-
DR JOHN G I thought your sister's name was Abbavekke.
Only after 1 martini too many.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I have removed the Halloween decor and replaced it with Thanksgiving.
-
TOD - When my sister was telling us how much she loved digging into genealogy, our mother said, “Don’t dig TOO deep.” We figured that meant either:
A) She suspected a secret and didn’t want to know, or,
B) She knew the secret and didn’t want us to find out.
A couple of years later she casually mentioned to my niece that my father had fathered a child while in the service at the end of WWII. Now, mind you, by this time she was convinced there was a swimming pool outside her dining room and that a young couple used her couch to make out when she wasn’t in her room.
So, my sister and I may, or may not, have a half-sibling between us.
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I have removed the Halloween decor and replaced it with Thanksgiving.
You are more efficient than we are, DR Ginny. That change will be happening here this coming weekend. (We do rather like keeping the current/previous holiday up a few extra days.)
-
Tuesday morning greetings! I have removed the Halloween decor and replaced it with Thanksgiving.
I’m jumping straight to Christmas. So much easier that way.
-
And this is the first Christmas in three years that I’ll be home.
-
From TCB:
Correct. They were Crunch bars. I lied.
:D

My sister and niece are, too. ::)
-
It's too early!! >:(
-
But as Shakespeare said, "To thine own self be true...." ;D
-
I love fall decor and Thanksgiving. Also, our Christmas decorations stay up well into January, so I’m in no rush for them.
-
I'm up, I'm up - it would have been eight hours of sleep, but was six due to being up for two of the eight.
-
Or something like that.
-
The OED word of the year is vax.

I just gave in to curiosity and looked: my last CastRecL daily digest was Oct. 26.
-
Meetings. Too many, too repetitive.
-
I just gave in to curiosity and looked: my last CastRecL daily digest was Oct. 26.
I got one today. Fred posted in it.
-
Man, I sure wish I didn't have rehearsal tonight.
(But I do, Blanche. I do.)
-
I only get it once a day.
-
Man, I sure wish I didn't have rehearsal tonight.
(But I do, Blanche. I do.)
Be thankful I’m not singing.
-
It's too early!! >:(
I agree. It is still autumn and too early for red and green.
-
But as Shakespeare said, "To thine own self be true...." ;D
;D
-
Great photos from DR CHAS SMITH.
And I loved the photo in the notes as well....and I'm sure that MR BK's newly minted relative will find it most interesting.
-
I hope DR singdaw is not being overwhelmed with calls and questions today.
-
DR GINNY is moving on - as they say.
-
I hope DR singdaw is not being overwhelmed with calls and questions today.
Me neither.

Back from storage. It was a two-hour chore, but we looked in every box and did not find what I was looking for - which means it may have been here and when I was having all the garage stuff removed I may have trashed it, although I'd like to think I wouldn't have. So, I'll have to go through about six more boxes that are in the garage to see if I was smart enough to have saved it. But the good news is we did find something that's just as good that I had no idea I had.
-
I just gave in to curiosity and looked: my last CastRecL daily digest was Oct. 26.
I subscribe to it and get the daily digests, but I haven't actually read any in several years. :-\
-
Good evening, friends.
-
Day 2 wasn't too bad. But this does drag on (and on) until January 15th. So there's time for it to be bad.
-
Oh, looky! PAGE THREE!!
-
~~~FOOT VIBES~~~ for DR John G.!!!!!
-
For a moment there, I thought I had meandered to the wrong web page. So many tales of dark family secrets!
-
Nice family photo Bruce.
-
Yes, love the Notes photo!
-
And now that I have actually READ today's Notes, I understand why we have these family stories.
-
:D
-
BK, a very impressive recitation of your relatives in the picture. Of course, since only know you, you could have made up every one of those names except your own! And I am not even sure that is you!!
-
Very depressing. 4:06 on the left coast and we are not even half way thru page 3.
-
I am going to try and post a photo of my scooter, but since I am not very good at those things, it probably won't work.
-
Wow! It worked! At least for me. I have no idea if anyone else can see it or not.
-
Behind my scooter is my oxygen machine, that I had promised to post a picture a while back, but never did.
-
I need not vote today.
It is very nasty outside, and I am trying to catch a cold, which I probably got from Bruce.
I would say that is interesting.
I started going thru the ballot, and I was not familiar with anyone on the ballot.
Have your done genealogy testing. I would want to know the answer to this question.
For a moment there, I thought I had meandered to the wrong web page. So many tales of dark family secrets!
I am not telling mine ;D
-
I was shocked when as an adult my father mentioned his name had been changed from Sol Wyner.
-
Changing to non Jewish names wasn't uncommon back then.
-
I need not vote today.
I need not vote? Where the hell did that come from?
-
Even if I did know where it came from, I need not tell you.
Before I go make dinner, I need to get us off this page.
-
We are almost there.
-
This should be the end.
Page four
I need not vote today.
Had one of those newfangled McDonald's crispy chicken sandwiches (mild) - it was okay. Also, a filet-o-fish, which was very good.
-
In about an hour I'll mosey on over to the theater.
-
The good news about the second play is that the first three scenes are very long and in one location. So, we'll just go from location to location - there are four, I think. There are tons of props but we're not using props, so if it's important, I'll have the actor add a line about it, basically speaking whatever would be in the stage direction but in character as dialogue.
I used to like the fish sandwiches. It has been years and years since I had one.
-
Even though I have no interest in the subject of STATE OF AFFAIRS, as a fan of Louise Penny I am curious about the book.
-
I went to Goodreads to read the comments and was rather annoyed with some of the reviews. People are giving it bad reviews without having read the book. In retaliation for this book a few said they won't read any more of Louise Penny's books.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Lovely family photos.
Bruce, that would be your brother, Joel, between your parents, yes? I never met him and had no sense of what he looked like.
-
TOD:
I was an adult when I realized my mother had had at least one affair, probably two. Children observe things, even if they don't understand what's going on. Adults think kids won't figure it out.
I went to Best Buy this morning to shop for a new phone. I'd been planning to buy an iPhone SE when they first came out, then procrastinated, and next thing I knew they'd been discontinued. Apple brought out a version 2, but I still procrastinated. It's now time for a new phone. Best Buy won't sell a new, unlocked phone, so I'll have to buy it from Apple. (I'm told this is an Apple rule.) But the two employees I spoke to were very helpful, which I appreciated, as I had a lot of questions.
-
I also looked at MacBooks and iPads. So much to think about!
-
Yes, that's the brother.
-
I have found that Tuesday mornings are a good time to shop just about anywhere, especially if you don't like crowds.
-
I joined GrubHub. I don't usually use meal delivery much, but I've been having a lot of sinus headaches lately and just don't want to drive. I must say I like the convenience.
-
And I'm trying out a new sinus product. So far so good.
-
Vibes to all.
TTFN.
We purchased our phones at T-Mobile instead of Best Buy.
Maybe that explains senior discount day at Chuck's, the produce + market we shop at. Tuesdays are usually busy days there, but not too busy.
And I love that clock! :D
-
We took a peak at Southern Baptist Sissies, on DR TCB's recommendation.
-
Good night, friends.
-
And I love that clock! :D
So do I.
-
TCB thanks for posting the photo of your scooter.
'night
It's been a long day. And work isn't going to get any easier for a while.
-
I did make a Costco run today where I picked up a copy of Paul McCartney's The Lyrics, which they had for 40% off.
-
It's my Christmas present to myself.
-
Five!
-
I finished my Italian comedy. Starting Free Guy, which just came in today at the library. But I'm not getting too interested.
-
I'm going to read for awhile.
-
What a coinkydink! I just got home from Costco, but I bought some Meconi's gift cards. :) $50 worth for only $40.
-
Hi, George.
-
Good night, all.
-
Nice pictures
-
I know some family scandals.
-
But I ain’t sharing
-
Back from our rehearsal. This play was harder to deal with than Doug's, which was actually pretty simple and which is a bit shorter in its run time. This one has about six songs and I'm going to ask him to make some cuts in act one and act two's big last scene in a courtroom, because it just goes on forever. But - I got everything staged in two hours and forty minutes. A lot of it is sitting or standing, but there are some bigger scenes the needed stuff, and I gave some simple but fun ography for a few of the numbers. So, if the actors can get really tight on the script I think we'll be okay. I don't have a full company on Saturday, unfortunately, but we do have everyone on Sunday and that's a three-hour rehearsal that can go four if necessary. I have one actor playing a lead who's foreign and a bit hard to understand and who mis-accents things, but he's gonna work hard over the next three days.
-
My new co-worker and I were talking today and we talked about musicals.
-
She likes them a lot, but doesn't know many.
-
She has only seen the movie version of Into the Woods and I told her that I have the laserdisc release of the original Broadway production, and that the movie version made changes from the stage version.
-
I told her that I could make a DVD copy of the laserdisc, so that's what I'm doing...recording the laserdisc to my DVD burner. :)
-
I hadn't actually watched this laserdisc when I got it from eBay, and watching it now, I'm sorry I took so long!
-
The picture is wonderful!
-
It looks as good as the DVD!
-
It's definitely not hi-def, but it'll make a great burned DVD. :)
-
And I love that clock! :D
Thanks, so do I.
-
Why I oughta...
-
Notes are written.
-
Written are notes.
-
One of the notes is G-sharp.
-
I made a fried egg sandwich - I thought I was out of eggs but I have a full carton of them - who knew? I also had a donut from Yum Yum Donuts, which is on the way home. It was okay.
-
Took the last of my allergy pills. I'll get more tomorrow night after I have the booster shot.
-
And then I wrote...
Did any of you see the crowd that showed up in Dealey Plaza to see the return of JFK Jr., who never died. There were many signs calling for a Trump/Kennedy ticket in 2024!
The world has gone to Hell.
Of course it was. John John would never be on a Republican presidential ticket!
-
Thank you, George, I was worried that I was the only one who could see the scooter photo.
I know! Where the hell did they come up with the idea that he would be a Republican?? :o
I am glad you guys like the clock.
I bought it about ten years ago. It doesn’t work, but it is correct twice a day.
