Good morning, all!
-
I slept very very poorly last night, and I expect that to color my day.
-
I am very happy for the successful theatrical ventures of BK and DR George this weekend.
-
For Mother’s Day I went to my moms and cooked there
I made a ham, sweet potatoes, new potatoes, asparagus, peas, crescent rolls, cherry pineapple gravy for the ham and then we had cheesecake for dessert
-
We had a nice long video chat with the Vixter as well
-
I forgot to mention, Elmore, Rob Berman moderated the talkback on Saturday

On Hulu last night, I watched 10 episodes of Season 1 of "Will and Grace". It was great fun back then.
-
I slept beautifully.
I did dream, and the dreams are not worth belaboring...nothing traumatic, but somewhat perplexing. I think they were tied to a couple of programs I have watched over the past few days. I was telling people they needed to start excavating for something again.
-
I neither excavate nor direct anyone, so maybe it's a different life on a different plane of existence I am experiencing.
-
It's a coolish morning in Johnston SC. Currently, it's 53 degrees. High should hitt 76, however.
-
I have one (count it 1) doctor's appointment this week...on Friday.
Next week is busy. My only free day is Wednesday.
-
It was nice to read about the most satisfactory final performance of "L.A. Now and Then". I'm glad it was a very good experience.
I recall, from my distant past, how both rewarding and let-down it all felt after a final performance of a show.
I always felt I wouldn't try for the next one...but when it would be announced, I would be eager. I know it's different for the creators, however.

From Bruce:
Well, we went out with a great performance for a great, two-thirds-full audience. And so, this chapter is done for LA Now and Then and, for the most part, it really was a stellar run doing mostly half-houses (which is good for small theater at this time, with people still afraid to leave their homes thanks to yet more fear-mongering recently), with all appreciative audiences. Many laughs, much cheering today, which was, again, a tonic. After the show, about seven of us went to the Coral Cafe for some food and it was so much fun and I only wish we'd done that more often. After that, I came right home and am feeling the usual end-of-show let down on top of all the other stress that's been going on.
Wonderful :)
-
From George:
Mamma Mia! had a great first Sunday performance. :)
Very nice :)
-
From TCB:
Have you seen those new eye drops (by prescription) that eliminate your need for cheaters readers?
I didn't until you said something and then looked it up.
-
From TCB:
My mother started out giving me flowers on opening nights, but after she saw how many shows I was doing, she stopped that practice.
That was sweet of her, and understandable she stopped-lol

When I was still working, which was from home for the last several years of it, it was simple to sit at my desk (which is very comfortably large) and have both the work computer and my personal one going all day long. That was a great benefit, and I guess quite the luxury in comparison to many people's situation.

I have never even heard of this musical "MJ."
Wish I could erase my memories of reading about it.
-
Of all the bio musicals, MJ is the one that appeals the least. I think I would rather see Diana. Or that ill-fated Eleanor! in The Prom.
-
You can't eat snacks while you sleeo, so taking a nap is basically dieting.
-
True.
-
They had the opening number of MJ on some website - it was just what you'd expect.
-
I am good about not eating while I read. Sometimes I read to keep from snacking.
-
Having an irresistible Eyetalian sandwich from a place called Fat Sal's - excellent burgers there and this sandwich, while maybe not quite irresistible, is quite good.
-
A bit smaller than Subway, but much fresher ingredients.

Struggling along, organizing things, and doing what must be done.

DR John & DR Ginny, I am on chapter 13 of The Book Woman's Daughter. So far I think it is very good.

11x14 Photo Signed by Robert - $499

Okay, Jeanne: It was the generic use. I do have a refrigerator.
And for you and Jane: Most of the older stuff was in jars and pushed back. I threw a lot of it out because it wasn't anything I would have ever eaten to begin with, but I think it was mostly still edible.
-
I think, but would not have wanted to test.
-
Starting a British noir called Jigsaw. It's quite atmospheric. Cruel and gruesome yet filled with bright sunshine. A definite evil under the sun setup.
-
Jeanne, you are a little further along in The Book Woman's Daughter than I am. I'm only up to chapter 11.
I'm enjoying the story as well as the mention of other things of the time period, such as Singin' in the Rain being at the movies. It's also fun hearing Barbara Pym's Excellent Women being mentioned right after having finished a biography of her.
-
The great Jennifer Simard, who was a delight in one of BK's online cabarets, gave a truly classy response to getting a Tony nomination today for Company:
"You know, Barbara Barrie got a Tony nomination for this role back in 1970. And I've been a fan of hers since I was 11 years old. By honoring me this way, it just really brings up all of my love and admiration for her all over again."
-
I forgot to mention that I watched a terrible 1979 film on MGMHD this morning, starring Elliot Gould, Cybill Shepherd and, the only good thing about it, Angela Lansbury.
It was the gosh-awful remake of "The Lady Vanishes". Shepherd simply kills the entire movie with the ludicrous banter they give her to utter, and the script is full of oohings and ahhings over her looks and her body and her legs, and she seems to believe it's all true. The woman couldn't act her way out of an empty theater.
So disgustingly trite and contrived. I don't believe Elliot Gould has ever been so repugnant, although I did try to watch "The Long Goodbye" and found the static scenes of him driving or just looking at things as gosh-awful as Shepherd fawning all over herself.
What a crappy day of movie-watching.
-
What was Vixdad interviewing for?
US Citizenship
-
He was told to expect a letter in. A couple of weeks giving a date for the swearing in ceremony
