Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of boy singers, and now it is time for you to post until the Perry Como cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: HONEYFUGGLE!
-
BK, do you like Mel Tormé?
-
TOD:
I like the singers that BK mentioned. Also:
Nat King Cole
Johnny Mathis
Mel Tormé
-
Yes, Nat King Cole, but not until later, around the time I found Sinatra, but definitely Mathis from when I was a kid. Torme - I don't think I listened to him until I was in my 20s.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
DR TCB - sorry you are not feeling well. ~~~ALL SORTS OF VIBES TO YOU~~~ my friend!!!!!!
-
Thanks for the photos, DR vixmom!!
-
I'm having a memory that someone needed a Peter Pan CD - the one I produced - if so, I found one.
-
Male singers I like, in addition to the ones already mentioned:
Of the classic variety:
Robert Goulet
More recent theatrical singers:
James Barbour
Anthony Warlow
Michael Maguire
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did not sleep well, but I had spent most of yesterday in a comatose state. When I did sleep, I had very strange dreams, none of which I ow remember. I'm very happy to be awake and out of bed.
-
Sionce I was unable to accomplish much yesterday, I will spend today catching up from Saturday. I have an important email to answer, a phone call that will most likely take up 90 minutes of my day, and an overture to finish.
-
We have rain today, and it's quite dark outside. The news is issuing storm warnings.
-
DR JohnG, your assessment of that personal library book makes me want to avoid it at all costs. My English grammar was elevated by understanding Latin grammar. I've almost finished my mystery, and then I'm reading Mary Rodgers' biography. I also have Harvey Fierstein's here as well.
-
Good morning to all
-
I enjoyed Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra when he was a band singer. He was fabulous
-
Ed Ames was good too
-
And Andy Williams
-
What is it, fishes?

-
Good morning, all.
-
Off to work.
-
Two!
-
It’s Monday.
I only hope it isn’t going to be “a” Monday.
-
But, you know how Mondays go.
-
Vixmom sez:
I believe the only vehicles are official vehicles belonging to the coast guard, or shore police or rescue vehicles
Right.
I also wonder if they have little golf cart type things the populace can ride in for shopping or whatnot.
-
Kitty cleanup is finished, Next, the bed ad then to work.
-
Today I am listening to the cast album of The Spitfire Grill. I don't know what the show is like, but I like the score.
-
And you can't go wrong with Liz Callaway.
-
Today I am listening to the cast album of The Spitfire Grill. I don't know what the show is like, but I like the score.
I have enjoyed that in the past.

Salted caramel bacon money bread?
-
Salted caramel bacon money bread?
Money or monkey? Either way, gimme.
-
The dreaded Muzak is very loud in the office today.
-
TOD 2:
Elton John
Otis Redding
Elvis
Al Green
Tom Jones
Barry White
Buddy Holly
Luciano Pavarotti
-
Yes, that was monkey bread. Subliminal slip, I suppose.
-
The dreaded Muzak is very loud in the office today.
That's a crime against humanity.
-
Today I am listening to the cast album of The Spitfire Grill. I don't know what the show is like, but I like the score.
I have enjoyed that in the past.
I love the cast recording. I've seen two different productions and I love the the show, too.
-
My laptop is restarting for the second time this morning. Mondays are a joy.
-
I've heard that a thing of beauty is a joy forever.
-
Our two main systems are down. What DR John G. said.
-
Vibes for DR Jeanne and DR TCB.....
-
Monday vibes for DR ELMORE and DR CHAS SMITH.
-
DR ELMORE - DePauw University did a production of The Spitfire Grill - I think you might enjoy it....you have to have exactly the RIGHT singers - but it's a lot of fun.
-
DR VIXMOM posted some nice pictures yesterday, but she never told us the results of her lottery numbers.....perhaps she is on her way to cash them in.
-
Looking like rain here today, too.
I broiled some pork chops and made a tossed salad - so I'm good for a couple of days!
-
NO THEEDER DUTIES TODAY! Or for the next five - unless you count adding a story or two to the website.
-
DR VIXMOM posted some nice pictures yesterday, but she never told us the results of her lottery numbers.....perhaps she is on her way to cash them in.
...........and leaving no forwarding address.
-
Cloudy and cooler and we're supposed to get some rain here, too. But no rain has happened yet.
-
DR ChasSmith, I am assuming that the Cincinnati chili was a complete success?
-
Drooling minds want to know.
-
Moving on.
-
Three.
-
Our two main systems are down. What DR John G. said.
It must be contagious! The database website for our main vendor is down, too! :o
-
From DR John:
Jane, I am only a third of the way through the Personal Librarian. I’m liking it, but …
The main character studies Latin, German and French in her spare time, but her English grammar is sloppy and she uses anachronisms here and there.
Thank you. I wonder if that bothered me at the time.
-
From John:
Belle is understandably drawn to power, but I’m not liking the mentions so far that she’s sexually attracted to her boss. It’s clumsily presented.
But power of all sorts is at work here. Morgan’s power, the power of money, white privilege, male dominance, even white lesbian power over black women, the power of gossip, the power of association.
Yes to both of those. Thanks again.
-
DR George fun story about your new FB friend.
-
DR Vixmom I enjoyed your photos.
-
DR TCB you said Gabapentin was the medication your doctor prescribed for your pinched nerve. I was surprised that was what he gave you. As for interesting, awhile back I mentioned Keith thinks I am saying "interesting", not in the true meaning of the word. After reading about Gabepentin I see why it might work. Vibes it does!
-
DR ChasSmith, I am assuming that the Cincinnati chili was a complete success?
A success last night, and again about an hour ago. (It gives great leftovers!)
-
DR George fun story about your new FB friend.
Thanks, Jane.
-
It’s only about 77 degrees here, and overcast, but this 74% humidity is for the birds.
Speaking of whom, I don't hear any birds out there at present. Maybe it's nap time? Or might there be a hawk in the area?
There's supposedly a thunderstorm coming around in an hour or so. Maybe that will help a little. Although this year, the storms we've gotten have been practically worthless in that regard.
-
I keep forgetting...if anyone is interested, here's the electronic program for The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong. Since it's a play-within-a-play, both the real actors and the character actors have bios:

Dallas flooded overnight after 8 inches of rain fell. Scary.
-
Having leftover pie with lunch. Dang it was good.
-
Jane, I am now more than halfway through Librarian. As it gets more melodramatic, the writing gets more arch.
-
Maureen McGovern, whom I saw in Nine, has announced that she has posterior cortical atrophy with symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. Sad.
-

Maureen McGovern, whom I saw in Nine, has announced that she has posterior cortical atrophy with symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. Sad.
Oh, no. :(
-
Thanks for sharing the program, DR George. Fun!
-
Our systems are still down.
-
DR ELMORE - DePauw University did a production of The Spitfire Grill - I think you might enjoy it....you have to have exactly the RIGHT singers - but it's a lot of fun.
All I know about it is that it's based on a movie produced by the Catholic church and Liz Callaway was in the stage production. I think ther composer's a friend of mine.
-
Welcome to Monday.
-
James Valcq
-
Is the composer/librettist.
-
It might be of some interest to you, DR elmore3003, due to the score and orchestrations being Appalachian-tinged.
-
Maureen McGovern, whom I saw in Nine, has announced that she has posterior cortical atrophy with symptoms of Alzheimer’s or dementia. Sad.
That's very sad. I've known Maureen for a long time.
-
James Valcq
Yes! I haven't seen James in years. Kurt Olmann introduced us when Kurt was doing a Bernstein concert with the NY City Gay Men's Chorus.
-
It might be of some interest to you, DR elmore3003, due to the score and orchestrations being Appalachian-tinged.
I had heard one number from the score and liked it. I think I then tried to purchase a CD but it was out of print.
-
I would burn you a copy, DR elmore3003, but I don't know where my copy is. It is available for streaming on iTunes and Amazon music.
-
Larry, check your PMs...if you haven't already made other arrangements. ;)
-
Onward!
-
Four!
-
I would burn you a copy, DR elmore3003, but I don't know where my copy is. It is available for streaming on iTunes and Amazon music.
I found a new copy on eBay, but I can't order it until Sept. 1 when I get my pension payment.
-
Oh yes, Perry Como, Andy Williams, and Jack Jones.
-
DR George sent me the files as an .rar, and I'm trying to convert it to mp3.
-
Larry, the files are MP3s. The .rar is another way to compress files like .zip. If you need a .zip version, I can send that very easily.
-
I'm up, I'm up - probably seven hours of sleep and have been answering a ton of e-mails. Important envelope that hadn't arrived hasn't arrived because it wasn't sent - but money has been put in my account so that's done.
-
I’m ready for the work day to be over.
-
My work day is over. The systems never did come up.
-
Isn't that a fine how-dee-doo.
-
Larry, the files are MP3s. The .rar is another way to compress files like .zip. If you need a .zip version, I can send that very easily.
That would be fantastic.
-
Let's sing scat.
-
Let's trip the light fantastick.
-
We'll be a cool as oodley-ooh.
-
And then some.
-
We'll be too cool for school.
-
Is that what the young-un's are calling it these days?
-
That was a neat program DR GEORGE....it is the future.
-
There's DR JOHN G mentioning that thing I don't know about.....leftover pie.....WTH?
-
My aunt had a 45 rpm record or two by Mr Perry Como that I played over and over when we visited.....Glendora and The Railroad Goes Through The Middle of the House.
I also liked Bobby Darin a lot. And of course Neil Diamond.
-
89 degrees here.....79 in the house.....so I turned on the air....
-
Larry, the files are MP3s. The .rar is another way to compress files like .zip. If you need a .zip version, I can send that very easily.
That would be fantastic.
I just got back from lunch, but the zipped file link has been sent!
-
That was a neat program DR GEORGE....it is the future.
And so far, I don't think anyone's complained about not having a paper program.
-
There's DR JOHN G mentioning that thing I don't know about.....leftover pie.....WTH?
Two slices. One for tomorrow.
-
Rain is falling.
-
Apparently it’s raining heavily at home. I hope so. My plants need it.
-
I was supposed to get the lawn mowed tomorrow. I wonder if it’ll be dry enough.
-
Vixmom sez:

Right.
I also wonder if they have little golf cart type things the populace can ride in for shopping or whatnot.
I think it’s just bicycles and wagons
-
DR VIXMOM posted some nice pictures yesterday, but she never told us the results of her lottery numbers.....perhaps she is on her way to cash them in.
Oh I still haven’t checked them
-
As long as I don’t look I’m still potentially a winner
-
DR Vixmom I enjoyed your photos.
Thank you

Don't mind me; I've just been putting up for winter.

Last comment on The Personal Librarian. In the first half of the book, Belle refers to Lily Dale without mentioning she's the lead character in Edith Wharton's House of Mirth. That book would have come out about two years prior to the date of the mention and would not have been the classic character that she became in time.
Later in the novel, Belle's lover becomes Edith Wharton's lover and no connection is made. In fact, we never get the feeling that Belle has an opinion on Wharton, much less her work.
-
Good night, friends.
-
Oh, wow. This movie Triple Threat was such trash. Imagine the worst of any Debbie Allen piece, only worse. Imagine a pansexual Mickey and Judy, "let's put on a show" musical. And imagine a score worse than Brookln, or however that show spelled its name.
In other words, a jaw-dropping must-see for those who like trash.
-
Now starting the three-hour Drive My Car, filmed in 9 languages, including korean sign language and Tagalog.
-
I won’t finish tonight. It may take six half-hour sittings.
-
Zero matched numbers for powerball
Darn. The story of my life...well, any time I've played. ::)

That's amazing! I've heard of the film, but I didn't know that there were nine languages in the film.

Really? No late-night denizens? No posts since nine o'clock.

Most unseemly.

Must write some notes.

Steve Lawrence
I was madly in love with Steve Lawrence when I was in college. I would have gladly killed Edie Gorme in a heartbeat.

I still think that Perry Como’s “It’s Impossible” and Cher’s “The Way of Love” are the same song. But BK orLarry would know that better than me.

>:( ::)In Olympia today there was a man shoplifting in a connivence store, hassling people at Starbuck’s, dodging into busy traffic, and when police showed up, he pulled a knife on them. So, the officer shot him dead.
-
Has anyone heard of shooting someone in the arm holding the knife, or in the leg, or the shoulder? Was there any need to kill the guy?
-
