Well, you've read the notes, the notes put things in motion, and now it is time for you to post until the putting things in motion cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: GENTEEL!
-
Is genteel the past tense of gentile?
-
I was just about to post this last night:
George, how was dinner? What did you have?
I ended up ordering the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with hashbrowns and a biscuit. It was a huge meal! I brought about half of it home! :D

Yum! That sounds really good.

Unfortunately, I probably would have finished it.

It wasn't easy! ;D

A large chicken fried steak?
-
I sure would like to know what breakfast that is in the photo on their website? I’m guessing the corned beef hash.
-
Oh, I guess George took off. Everybody have a good day.
-
Good morning, friends.
-
That is all.
-
For the nonce.

Ditto!
-
Good morning, all!
-
The Trump[ Organization is being tried for fraud! Woo-hoo!!
-
I would like to begin the laundry in the next 30 minutes.
-
DR Ginny, that window incident sounds terrifying. Were you trying to hit that high C again?
-
The window in my studio apartment is hug, and when I moved in, the window was a large 6x6 ft pane that was stationery with two side panels that opened. I used to live in terror that that huge panel would end up broken in a tempest or some accident, like my getting angry and throwing something through it.
About 20 years ago, the apartment windows were redone and the wooden frames replace with metal ones.
-
Today, besides the laundry, I need to book Access-a-Ride for Tuesday and Wednesday, and call the Human Rights Agency about their latest ruling to my food stamps request.
-
Good morning.
-
Ginny, another possibility is that a hawk chased prey into the window and then took it after it hit the window.
-
Here's an excerpt from the show I saw Saturday.

Is that the equivalent of “Here, this is horrible. Try some”?

Hmm. End of a page.
-
Two.
-
DR Laura - they seem to be a few plywood panels short of a picnic.
-
To mix a metaphor.
-
And speaking of mixed metaphors... Am I the only one who finds the term chicken-fried steak confusing? What does it have to do with chicken, really?

Here are some suggested phrases for testing a microphone (instead of "testing, 1, 2, 3...")
- The small pup gnawed a hole in the sock.
- The fish twisted and turned on the bent hook.
- Press the pants and sew a button on the vest.
- The swan dive was far short of perfect.
- The beauty of the view stunned the young boy.
- Two blue fish swam in the tank.
- Her purse was full of useless trash.
-
Welcome back to the workplace, DR John G.
-
You have a few emails.
-
The laundry is ready for the dryers, and I just booked my Tuesday and Wednesday Access-a-Ride trips.
-
I called the number for the Human Rights Agency I was given: Mail box is full. I have the feeling this organization is today's albatross.
-
Monday!
I am trying to think of some Swedish movies from Sweden.
-
Part two miracle vibes for MR BK.
-
Hmmm....they seem to be re-showing Friday's events at the trial....they are supposed to start right now.....so we shall see.
Jesse the Bird likes to talk back to the judge......
-
Monday morning greetings!
Ginny, another possibility is that a hawk chased prey into the window and then took it after it hit the window.
That’s a very plausible explanation, DR Laura, because we found a small dead bird underneath the window when we were cleaning up the broken glass. We didn’t think it was big enough to do that kind of damage.
-
Everything is in the dryers, and I am ready for a nap.
-
Good morning!
-
Wordle: 3/6
-
DR Ginny, is the window that broke situated across from another window on the opposite side of the house, where it might look to a bird like a pass-through?
-
I saw the trailer for the new Tom Hanks movie the other day. I didn't realize it was a remake of a Swedish movie. Thanks for the heads-up, BK. I'm going to watch "A Man Called Ove."
-
The trial was supposed to start one hour ago........
-
DR Ginny, is the window that broke situated across from another window on the opposite side of the house, where it might look to a bird like a pass-through?
DR Singdaw, there are picture windows on the back of the house, too, but it’s not a direct shot.
-
Between the broken window, the torn-up family room, and the dead dryer, I’m feeling like our house is out to get us.
-
Ah - Judge said that his actions made him forfeit his right to testify, he was taken away. Judge declared trial over and Jury Instructions begin tomorrow.....
-
Good morning, all.
-
Enjoying a somewhat late start today.
But the fun begins soon enough. I need to haul my ASS into getting showered and dressed and on my way to get some drums out of the theeder.
-
DR Ginny, that is shocking, and would have to be pretty scary, that a window actually got broken from that.
We have bird strikes, too, and sometimes they sound like a pretty hard hit. But I'll go out expecting to find the victim without much difficulty, and...nothing. Nathan knows birds, and he says they survive hits like that and fly away immediately much more often than you'd imagine.
-
Welcome back to the workplace, DR John G.
A thrill I cannot begin to describe.
-
Lesson of the day: Big birds are pretty resilient.
-
As it happens, the director I'd want to work with has no interest in tackling Rocky Horror. He likes it fine, he just doesn't want to do it himself. I will do my best to get him to look at Brain sometime.
-
System restarting. Password didn’t work. System didn’t sync. All messages to go home.
-
Onward!

DR Laura, it's impossible for me to imagine sitting through that. My sympathies.

-
Yes, YOU TOO can purchase HamilTONES... colored pencils with a Hamilton theme!
-
Precedurals are continuing......Darrell Brooks throws every thing he judge gives him into the trash.
-
I think the whole trial will be thrown out.
-
DR Laura, it's impossible for me to imagine sitting through that. My sympathies.
Here's an audio of the ballet sequence. I couldn't find video of it.

Yeah, it wasn’t going to end well either way for the little bird, but apparently the big guy flew away to hunt again.
-
The Glass Guru is coming Friday.
-
Unfortunately, I probably would have finished it.
I deliberately had to stop myself. ::)
A large chicken fried steak?
Yup...it was quite good, but it was a lot of food.
-
I listened to DR LAURA's link and then went ahead and listened to my two favorite songs from the show - not being a soloist - The Farmer & The Cowman and Oklahoma!
Underwhelming.....and why were they singing some of their "h's" like Patsy Cline with a yodel? And some folks just did it now and then and not on all of their lyrics.
DR LAURA was your Ado Annie in a wheelchair?
-
I am still processing DR GINNY's bird misadventure....
-
Last Thursday my nephew and his wife had twin boys - Duke and Nolan.
Duke has dark hair and Nolan has blond hair - so I don't think they're identical twins.
They join their almost three year old brother Grayson. Unless he's almost two - I shall have to figure out when he was hatched.
-
So I was a Great-Uncle twice in one day....
I now have a total of 11 great nephews/nieces.
-
From Bruce:
Watching a lovely movie - Swedish - A Man Called Ove. Of course, it's been remade for the US and is coming out in pure Oscar-bait fashion on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks, who I'm sure in pure Oscar-bait fashion, will be nominated. I cannot imagine it will be as charming and heartfelt as the Swedish film, nor can I imagine a better performance than Rolf Lassgard, who was Wallendar in the first series of Swedish films and then the titular chapter in another Swedish crime series, Sebastian Bergman. More in the notes, but if you want to get a jump on it - it's free on Amazon Prime.
As much as I like Tom Hanks I really have no interest in watching the film. I agree with everything regarding the Swedish film.
-
From TCB:
Jodie Whittaker? Is he the little boy from FAMILY AFFAIR?
LOL, that was my first thought.
-
If I had finished reading the page I wouldn't have had to look her up.
-
Ginny, another possibility is that a hawk chased prey into the window and then took it after it hit the window.
Interesting possibility.

-
DR Ginny, is the window that broke situated across from another window on the opposite side of the house, where it might look to a bird like a pass-through?
That doesn't matter. It still looks like open space into a room. Then sadly they hit hard and loud.
-
I saw the trailer for the new Tom Hanks movie the other day. I didn't realize it was a remake of a Swedish movie. Thanks for the heads-up, BK. I'm going to watch "A Man Called Ove."
I just watched the two different trailers. Otto is cutesy while Ove is charming.
-
DR Ginny, that is shocking, and would have to be pretty scary, that a window actually got broken from that.
We have bird strikes, too, and sometimes they sound like a pretty hard hit. But I'll go out expecting to find the victim without much difficulty, and...nothing. Nathan knows birds, and he says they survive hits like that and fly away immediately much more often than you'd imagine.
But to shattered the window, that is the shocking part.
-
I wonder if there was a small, unnoticed crack in the window before the bird hit it.
-
Here are some suggested phrases for testing a microphone (instead of "testing, 1, 2, 3...")
- The small pup gnawed a hole in the sock.

That's a good one ;D
-
So I was a Great-Uncle twice in one day....

Congratulations!
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep and the first night of sleep without any issues at all.
-
No, the one I saw is in this clip.

-
I admit having to look up Swedish films to answer the TOD.
-
A Man Called Ove
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
-
I am sure there are others, I just don't remember them well enough.
-
Part one of a lovely miracle is now complete. Part two of the lovely miracle would hopefully happen by Wednesday or Thursday - so, it's nervously awaiting that time.
-
I love the Swedish Dragon Tattoo films and My Life as a Dog is wonderful. But I also love many, many films of Ingmar Bergman, including Smiles of a Summer Night, The Magician, The Seventh Seal, and more. Also, the Wallander films.
-
TOD:
Smiles of a Summer Night
Scenes from a Marriage
The Magician
The Emigrants/The New Land
Fanny and Alexander
I Am Curious … Yellow
A Man Called Ove
The Phantom Carriage
The Girl … trilogy

My friend Red Press has died. His first Broadway show on which he played reeds was the original production of Gypsy. At the time of his death, Red was the contractor for four Broadway musicals. He was 98 years young.
-
So sorry, Elmore. Sounds like a great life.
-
Johnnie Whitaker played Jody......
-
I am horrified by the clip DR LAURA just posted.....

That's sad, and a bit of a shock, even at his age.
The official announcement of his retirement not long ago was a firm reminder of that reality.
I'm so grateful to have been able to meet such a pillar of Broadway history, and to shake his hand on a few occasions, thanks to DR Elmore.
And he was such the gentleman every time.
RIP, sir.

Thank you! I'd forgotten about that, but I'd been mildly - no, morbidly - curious about it when reading of it months ago.
I'll check it out in a little bit.
-
DR elmore, is that the same "Seymour Red Press" that I've seen in Broadway show credits?
-
I've always wondered if that was a real person, or a corporate name.
-
Sorry for your loss.
-
Congratulations to DR Jrand72 on your expanded family!!!!
-
DR elmore, is that the same "Seymour Red Press" that I've seen in Broadway show credits?
Yes, indeed!
-
Usually, he was billed as Seymour "Red" Press.
-
Shocking about Leslie Jordan, too. We were supposed to see a show of his in downtown Saint Paul that got scuttled due to the pandemic.
-
Thanks, DR elmore3003.
-
DR Jrand72, Debra Messing has a cameo in Bros. I know that will make you want to rush out to see it.

Shattering news from Ginny!

Darrell Brooks is perhaps one of the most vile people I've ever seen. Disgusting. And he's out of control today. He thinks he's gonna get a mistrial. Dream on, Cinderella. And now, "I don't understand anything, so how can I answer?" He's a joke.
-
After three weeks he suddenly doesn't understand anything - and he thinks everyone can't see what he's doing.

Congrats, Jrand! And congrats to the parents!

Final arguments tomorrow - she really shut him down today and that was good. He really, in his delusional way, thinks he's controlling the proceedings. And he's already told her that he's telling the jury everything that wasn't allowed in evidence or testimony - she's warned him VERY strongly that if he attempts to do that he'll be removed from the courtroom and will have to give arguments from the other courtroom, where she can mute him if he attempts to do what he's saying he will do. This is how stupid and insane this man is.
-
Finishing off the last of the Wacky Noodles.
-
Cindy is booked to record and shoot her song on Friday. And we've planted the seed that if she's not too tired that we could do her phone calls, too - that wouldn't take more than an hour and then she'd be done with everything, which she might like.

DR Elmore, I’m sorry to hear about your friend. Wonder if we ever heard him in a Broadway orchestra…

And speaking of mixed metaphors... Am I the only one who finds the term chicken-fried steak confusing? What does it have to do with chicken, really?
The short answer is "Chicken-fried steak gets its name because it is prepared in the same manner as traditional fried chicken."

When I first moved to Middletown, my boss and her husband gave me a driving tour. When we passed a restaurant called The Meadows, Mr. Brown said, “You’ll have to find a handsome fellow to take you there.” Well, I did, of course, but tonight I’m taking HIM there. It’s an AAUW fundraiser and I bought the tickets at our last meeting.
We haven’t been there since 2011 and they’ve closed and reopened under new ownership since then.

Why would you do that to a perfectly good steak?
Or maybe it’s done to less-than-perfect steaks.
-
And speaking of Oklahoma!, I just happen to have here at work the 1998 Royal National Theatre (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Oklahoma-1998-London-Cast/2489) cast recording, starring Hugh Jackman and Shuler Hensley, who reunited in the debacle known as the 2022 revisal of The Music Man.

I read GIANT by Edna Ferber for my upcoming book discussion.
A major complaint by the new wife to Texas was they they ruined the steaks frying them.
-
Thank you for the education, DR George!
-
I adored Red Press. He was a real problem solver and friend to record labels. Worked with him many times. Haven't seen a peep about his death on Facebook because everyone's busy with Leslie Jordan.

I always that it was chicken ;D
There is such a thing as Chicken Fried Chicken (https://grandbaby-cakes.com/chicken-fried-chicken/):
Chicken Fried Chicken, sometimes known as Country Fried Chicken, is the ultimate Southern comfort food! Tender, juicy chicken is coated in a perfectly seasoned breading and fried until deliciously crisp!! Served with a smooth and peppery gravy, this outrageous chicken recipe is to die for!
-
That one is obviously chicken, not that I would eat it with the gravy on top.
-

So ... Jud. I would describe him as a skinny long-haired hoodied incel.

Boy, I have a lot to say about my experience on Saturday, don't I?
My daughter has two friends who saw it too, and both hated it.

Hated it with glee.

I think I would hate hot dog and hamburger versions of candy corn with glee.

I just found out that I've had NBA PASS for free since last Wednesday....until this Wednesday, so I think I will watch the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight.....and Wednesday.

Cloudy today, but very comfortable weather......rain tomorrow or tomorrow night.....

I closing argument tomorrow promises to be painful and contentious....

And pretentious, too?

Former DR Jose posted a video clip of Red Press telling a story on his FB page. In the background, there is a fellow that looks a bit like our DR elmore3003, but I can't tell if it is him or not.

He had nothing but superlatives to report about the voyage.

For the most part, it went quite well...only one (but obvious) goober, but the rest of the show was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Gratuitous Post #200!!
-
My mom and her friend Mona also really liked the show and my performance. :)

I read GIANT by Edna Ferber for my upcoming book discussion.
A major complaint by the new wife to Texas was they they ruined the steaks frying them.
I think that's her best book. I love the musical version.

I went through the photos I'd snapped at Encores! rehearsals, and found just a handful that included "Red" Press during the 1776 orchestra reading and Brigadoon sitzprobe. Here's one from each. He's talking with Rob Berman in the 1776 one, which Rob didn't conduct but he came in for a while to observe.

I'm struggling with The Daughter of Doctor Moreau. It's too silly and overwritten and overwrought. But I'm 60% of the way into it, so I will likely finish it.

One more ...

Eight!

Very strange episode of The Avengers called The Master Minds. Don’t think I’d seen it before.
-
Time for bed. Good night, all.
-
And speaking of mixed metaphors... Am I the only one who finds the term chicken-fried steak confusing? What does it have to do with chicken, really?
Same batter, perhaps?
-
On a positive note, Glynis Johns remains alive and celebrated her 99th birthday a week or so ago.
-
That one is obviously chicken, not that I would eat it with the gravy on top.
Some restaurants serve it with sweet syrups to apply as you desire.
I gave my waiter a very dirty look and told him to remove them at once.
-
Of course that's elmore.
-
I think I tried to watch something but I can't remember what and I pretty much fell asleep for whatever it was.
-
Such are the way of things.

Ooh I forgot you were able to do that! How lucky!

I have decided that I am going to see Jason Graae’s show in NYC this coming Sunday night. It’s late, 9:30, start time, but the other show on Friday is too early ( 7 pm ) for me to get there in time after work.
I wish the times had been reversed.
-
If I get to speak to him should I say hi for anyone?

Wow! Happy (belated) birthday to Glynis!

Part two of the lovely miracle just happened, so that's wonderful news. Wasn't quite as lovely as hoped for, but still lovely is lovely and there's no denying it.
So, to make it lovelier, I'm thinking of doing a private fundraising thing right on this very board. Goodies that I would normally have in an Indiegogo campaign will be listed on this here board. There are a few things we need to do here at Kritzerland and one of them involves purchasing a piece of equipment that will really help us in the future in terms of releases - it ain't cheap, but it is necessary. What do you all think? Books, CDs, art, signed items, show posters, and some cherce memorabilia, all that sort of thing. Thinking about doing a first listing tomorrow.
-
That sounds cool.
-
I just had to restart my computer so that some required updates could complete.
-
I'm posting from my phone because I don't know how long it'll take to go through the restart process.
-
It's an inconvenience, but I realize that it's necessary.
-
New notes are written.
-
They are ready to post.
-
In a mere eight minutes.
-
The question becomes can we get to page nine in eight minutes.
-
Yes, that is the question.
-
I think we're not so far away.
-
Then again this site is always gaslighting me.
-
Well, hold your hats and hallelujah, page nine!
-
Like the good old days of yore or your.
-
I gotta tell you.
-
As soon as I post the notes, I'll shower and then try to get in bed by one. I've been doing pretty good in that regard and in that regard I've been doing pretty good, not necessarily in that order.
-
That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
Can we get to page ten in five minutes.
-
If I were feeling adventurous, we could.
-
Of course, if I were feeling adventurous, adventurous would probably slug me.
-
Where hath TCB gone?
-
I know not.
-
George is updating.
-
I haven't dated up or down in years. Why is that?
-
Who would I date?
-
And why?
-
I did date about seven years ago for a VERY short time, like a few days.
-
That was no good.
-
Didn't care for it.
-
Dating is time consuming.
-
Time is time consuming.
-
Can we get to page ten in two minutes?
-
That would be something, wouldn't it?
-
What would it be?
-
Something.
-
It would be close.
-
We're not THAT far away.
-
But do we want an entire page of ME?
-
We might.
-
We could.
-
We must.
-
We should.
-
With one minute to spare - page TEN!
-
I haven't dated up or down in years. Why is that?
I haven't either. ::)
-
That's what I'M talkin' about.
-
But my computer has now finished its updating.
-
Hoo and Ray! It's Page Ten! :D
-
I was going to go through my lines tonight, but I left my pads of paper with my lines written on them at work.
-
I hate it when that happens. :P
-
I could use my actual script, but it's easier with the lines written on the note pads...well, for me, it is.
