I was just about to post this last night:

George, how was dinner?  What did you have?

I ended up ordering the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs with hashbrowns and a biscuit.  It was a huge meal!  I brought about half of it home! :D

Title: Re: PUTTING THINGS IN MOTION
Post by: elmore3003 on October 24, 2022, 04:04:12 AM
The window in my studio apartment is hug, and when I moved in, the window was a large 6x6 ft pane that was stationery with two side panels that opened. I used to live in terror that that huge panel would end up broken in a tempest or some accident, like my getting angry and throwing something through it.

About 20 years ago, the apartment windows were redone and the wooden frames replace with metal ones.

Monday morning greetings!

Ginny, another possibility is that a hawk chased prey into the window and then took it after it hit the window.

That’s a very plausible explanation, DR Laura, because we found a small dead bird underneath the window when we were cleaning up the broken glass.  We didn’t think it was big enough to do that kind of damage.

DR Ginny, that is shocking, and would have to be pretty scary, that a window actually got broken from that.

We have bird strikes, too, and sometimes they sound like a pretty hard hit. But I'll go out expecting to find the victim without much difficulty, and...nothing. Nathan knows birds, and he says they survive hits like that and fly away immediately much more often than you'd imagine.

    • The small pup gnawed a hole in the sock.

I listened to DR LAURA's link and then went ahead and listened to my two favorite songs from the show - not being a soloist - The Farmer & The Cowman and Oklahoma!

Underwhelming.....and why were they singing some of their "h's" like Patsy Cline with a yodel?  And some folks just did it now and then and not on all of their lyrics.

Duke has dark hair and Nolan has blond hair - so I don't think they're identical twins.

They join their almost three year old brother Grayson.  Unless he's almost two - I shall have to figure out when he was hatched.

Watching a lovely movie - Swedish - A Man Called Ove. Of course, it's been remade for the US and is coming out in pure Oscar-bait fashion on Christmas Day starring Tom Hanks, who I'm sure in pure Oscar-bait fashion, will be nominated. I cannot imagine it will be as charming and heartfelt as the Swedish film, nor can I imagine a better performance than Rolf Lassgard, who was Wallendar in the first series of Swedish films and then the titular chapter in another Swedish crime series, Sebastian Bergman. More in the notes, but if you want to get a jump on it - it's free on Amazon Prime.

As much as I like Tom Hanks I really have no interest in watching the film.  I agree with everything regarding the Swedish film.

My friend Red Press has died. His first Broadway show on which he played reeds was the original production of Gypsy. At the time of his death, Red was the contractor for four Broadway musicals. He was 98 years young.

That's sad, and a bit of a shock, even at his age.
The official announcement of his retirement not long ago was a firm reminder of that reality.

I'm so grateful to have been able to meet such a pillar of Broadway history, and to shake his hand on a few occasions, thanks to DR Elmore.
And he was such the gentleman every time.

      RIP, sir.

Final arguments tomorrow - she really shut him down today and that was good. He really, in his delusional way, thinks he's controlling the proceedings. And he's already told her that he's telling the jury everything that wasn't allowed in evidence or testimony - she's warned him VERY strongly that if he attempts to do that he'll be removed from the courtroom and will have to give arguments from the other courtroom, where she can mute him if he attempts to do what he's saying he will do. This is how stupid and insane this man is.

There is such a thing as Chicken Fried Chicken (https://grandbaby-cakes.com/chicken-fried-chicken/):

Chicken Fried Chicken, sometimes known as Country Fried Chicken, is the ultimate Southern comfort food! Tender, juicy chicken is coated in a perfectly seasoned breading and fried until deliciously crisp!! Served with a smooth and peppery gravy, this outrageous chicken recipe is to die for!

And speaking of Oklahoma!, I just happen to have here at work the 1998 Royal National Theatre (https://castalbums.org/recordings/Oklahoma-1998-London-Cast/2489) cast recording, starring Hugh Jackman and Shuler Hensley, who reunited in the debacle known as the 2022 revisal of The Music Man.

In my opinion, this is a perfect production of Oklahoma!

In 1980, DR Elmore and I saw an exquisite OKLAHOMA in New York, starring Christine Andreas as Laurie.

A friend of mine has just returned from a sabbatical trip to England. He returned aboard the Queen Mary 2, which he insists is an ocean liner, NOT a cruise ship.

He had nothing but superlatives to report about the voyage.

I went through the photos I'd snapped at Encores! rehearsals, and found just a handful that included "Red" Press during the 1776 orchestra reading and Brigadoon sitzprobe. Here's one from each. He's talking with Rob Berman in the 1776 one, which Rob didn't conduct but he came in for a while to observe.

That one is obviously chicken, not that I would eat it with the gravy on top.

Some restaurants serve it with sweet syrups to apply as you desire.

I gave my waiter a very dirty look and told him to remove them at once.

Part two of the lovely miracle just happened, so that's wonderful news. Wasn't quite as lovely as hoped for, but still lovely is lovely and there's no denying it.

So, to make it lovelier, I'm thinking of doing a private fundraising thing right on this very board. Goodies that I would normally have in an Indiegogo campaign will be listed on this here board. There are a few things we need to do here at Kritzerland and one of them involves purchasing a piece of equipment that will really help us in the future in terms of releases - it ain't cheap, but it is necessary. What do you all think? Books, CDs, art, signed items, show posters, and some cherce memorabilia, all that sort of thing. Thinking about doing a first listing tomorrow.
