Well, you've read the notes, the notes were bizarre, and now it is time for you to post until the bizarre cows come home.

And the word of the day is: DOUGHTY!

That's almost George's name.

AND I got a mention in BK's notes?? Pretty darned cool! :D

Good night / Good morning!
And to you, Tom!

Today, I, of course, have the day off, and then some time in the (hopefully) early afternoon, my friend Shelly and I will go out to lunch together. We haven't decided where, yet. Then, I'll go to my mom's for some Phase 10 playing.

Speaking of Ruthless!
The first time I saw it was around 1992.
Laura Bell-Bundy, who starred as Tina was out, so we saw her understudy.
-
But first...to bed!
Have a good day, all!
-
Her understudy was a cute 10 year old girl named Britney Spears.
-
The other understudy was 10 year old Natalie Portman.
They both auditioned, but didn’t get the part, so they went on when Laura Bundy called out.
Britney was very good. Her potential was obvious, even at that young age.
-
Good night, George!
-
Nice to see you, TCB.
Hope all is well.
-
Good morning, friends.

I didn't know about Harpers Bizarre until recently, and I learned about it from this here group.
-
Some classify their music in the Sunshine Pop subgenre.

Another vocal group in this category, The Free Design, has been one of my favorites since I was quite young.

Good morning, all!

God, do I hope that bitch Kari Lake loses. I cannot believe so many stupid asses in Arizona voted for herm Her pre-election avoidance of losing gracefully, her Trump support, and now her claims of corruption in the election prove she's as dishonest as the day is long. Why the fay hell would any fool want this garbage to be their governor?

Now that I've vented, Annabelle is behaving curiously this morning. Usually, after breakfast, she crawls into her Fancy Feast carton on my computer table and naps while I post. This morning, she's slouched all over the table, made several attempts to get into my cream cheese container, lay about the table everywhere except the carton, abd she finally inched her way to me where she promptly jumped into my lap before climbing up my shirt so I could hold her. Once settled, she lay in my arms and purred, chirped, and trilled quite happily.

We're expecting rain from the hurricane today and tomorrow, so I must get to Staples and back before then.. I do not particularly want to go out, but I must scan this orchestra score and email it to England.

DR TCB, I do hope the pain oatch does you much good.

Well, good for her. P.T. Barnum proves right again!
She’s also recorded Yeston’s December Songs, which I love. But the one selection I’ve heard is too breathy and behind the beat. Not my first choice for the material. Now Judy Kuhn or Christine Andreas …

Day 2 (of 2) vax reaction. Had a tossing and turning night that a couple of Excedrin alleviated a bit. I was actually aware of having two sore arms for the first time, even though I've done this before. Maybe it's this latest booster, as I think DR Elmore alluded to.
Well, it should be over with tonight's sleep. What's weird about side effect reactions is that you know you're not sick -- and yet you feel completely under the weather. Oy!

Something that didn't help matters was my eating most of a pretty large bag of tortilla chips with some moderately hot salsa last night. It was my comfort food. Not what I'd planned, but anything else seemed like too much trouble. And they were good. And I couldn't stop. And and and...

Tonight is planned, though.
Tonight is Sloppy Joes.
That should pad the belly very nicely.

Like I need the padding.

I am going to make chili today - temps in the 20's and 30's this weekend - so I will have something hot to eat.

My sister returns from Maryland tomorrow.
We are getting messages and calls here and there that folks have gotten their checks - and since these were written on the account, we can look at the bank statement next month to make sure everyone got it.

Given the number of stories I have read this week about Trump's rejection of any blame in election results, I think it's extremely hilarious and telling that he has ZERO capacity when it comes to "reading a room." Republicans are abandoning him from all directions, yet he still believes himself to be the center of the universe.
We shall see.

We have had gobs of rain over the past day, and will continue through today, from Tropical Storm Nicole. I am well away from the storm's major impact, but the rains are still there, along with wind gusts.
-
We are expecting a wintry cold front to pass through in a day or so.
-
Oh, look. I made a new page.
-
Am getting ready to go to post office.
I have been tempted, but not moved, to make a trip to Aiken SC for shopping purposes. Am looking for a specific cheese and know only one store there sells it.
And then there is Sam's Club where all my impulses go awry.
-
Liz Callaway's new Sondheim album is out today, too.
-
I had a very odd dream last night, likely inspired by recent video footage of Nicole's impact on Florida's east coast.
I was visiting someone and went to get my car. Oddly, there was a body of water and a road on which I had parked my car. The road was semi-flooded, and my car wasn't where I thought I left it.
I thought I could see it a way down the road and couldn't figure out how I mistakenly parked so far away. The closer I slogged along to get to my car, the further it seemed to be. Suddenly, I was at the car and it was not mine at all. Didn't even look like my car...which it had earlier appeared to be.
That begged the question of where my car actually was...and then I woke up.
Happily, my car is IN my garage and there is no local flooding.
-
I guess we are not going to see the sun today.
Chili is on the range on "low"......should be ready for tasting in a half hour or so.

I can be there in about six hours!!!
-
I should have grokked that today is a federal holiday and that the postal office would be closed.
-
Still, I had an informative ride up the road.
The rule when a tropical storm is wreaking havoc on its fringes: If I go out to drive, rain wlll start coming down in sheets and the winds will blow and blow.
-
I walked to Staples and my lovely Muslim friend Fatima in their print shop scanned it for me. I have emailed the scan to London, so that's outr of my hair. By the time I left Staples, it was raining and my legs were shot, so I got a taxi home. I made the treacherous stairs in the lobby, got to my apartment, and discovered I had lost my cell phone. I called the number on my landline, and the taxi driver answered my phone. He told me he would be to my apartment in five minutes, so I had to get the walker, get out of the building and wait for him. I literally got from the sidewalk ro the street when he pulled up and handed me my phone.
-
Then I had to deal again with the lobby steps. There are five of them, and every time I have to climb them, I don't know if I can safely walk up them with the walker or if I need to go up on my hands and knees. They terrify me.
-
Yes, folks, Marjorie Taylor Greene's originally tweeted "quacking in their boots." I still find it hard to believe this Taylor Greene moron, who was clearly conceived at a family reunion, found so many people more stupid than she to vote for her.
-
I watched DON'T WORRY DARLING last night....another Harry Styles spectacular.
It's a neat Twilight Zone episode stretched out to two hours. But some of the performances and the art direction/costuming/music choices save the day.....

DR TCB I hope the pain patch is helping.

OMG Tom, vibes you are fine using the patch.

The gaping maws shall soon be silenced.

That would make a great title of something-or-other.

I hear that the Fat Orange Baboon has announced his run for President in 2024. I hope he dies in 2023. I heard wrong; his campaign manager announced it. The Fat Orange Baboone plans to announce it next Tuesday.
-
If he runs he will not win.
-
He's doing it because he thinks it will protect him from pending criminal investigations and potential indictment.
-
However, there's nothing anywhere about the announcement and you know there would be, so I don't think it's happened yet.
-
Listening to John Williams' score for The Fabelmans. I'm sure I'll enjoy the film, but there are so many coincidences here that it just makes me laugh after a while. We sent Mr. Spielberg Benjamin Kritzer back when it came out - nothing. Then twenty years later he makes a film about his childhood and gives the character based on his mother my mother's real name, Mitzi. Odds? She's clearly mentioned in the dedication of Benjamin Kritzer. Don't know if there'll be any other coincidences in the actual film. Then I listen the the first cue of The Fabelmans, solo piano (later there's a guitar/harp version) and it's quite similar to the piano music I wrote for In My Mind's Eye's love theme and main theme - I'm sure no one's heard my stuff, but still, it's fascinating to me. Anyway, it's a very short score and I'm sure works fine in the film. It sounds like a cross between Benjamin Kritzer and Cinema Paradiso.
-
He's doing it because he thinks it will protect him from pending criminal investigations and potential indictment.
Exactly.
-
However, there's nothing anywhere about the announcement and you know there would be, so I don't think it's happened yet.
I corrected my post.
-
Yup only for his protection and for the continued grift of his followers....some of them have a bit of $$ left.
-
Yes the gaping maws are quiet......but then the irksome maws have not chimed in as yet.
When my sister gets home - I will ask her to telephone our attorney next week to see if he got any queries. They have three months to throw monkey wrenches. Of course since the bank account is now at $000.00 - there is little they can do.
-
Of course I guess they could confiscate my livestock.....but that's about it.
-
;D I hope there won't be any surprises and only appreciation for all you and your sister did.
-
The Fabelmans looks like an interesting movie.....very much like Benjamin Kritzer......I'm not sure how much I want to see it.....maybe on television...
I am interested in BABYLON which is a movie about the movies set in the times of the silent to sound transition.......One article says that Mr. Brad Pitt plays an actor based on (or as it said now based off of) Mr. John Gilbert.....
And he does walk around in his underwear in a couple of scenes - so that's worth $5 on the B I G S C R E E N.
-
Thanks DR JANE so far so good.
I stood in line at Walgreen's for about 15 minutes.....then checked in and handed in my paper work and sat for another 40 minutes.
Then I got my Covid Booster.....and I mentioned that I had also filled out my paper to get a flu shoot. Miss Irene from South Africa via Chicago and pharmacy school in Ohio was surprised - but she said if i would wait a few minutes more, she would get it all set up.
And fifteen minutes later I was on the way home.....
-
The chili came out very well.
-
I think whatshisname's daughter is getting married tomorrow and he scheduled his "running" announcement to happen on Monday.....I hope it's at the Four Seasons Landscaping Office.......
-
Interesting, could be. At least he is waiting until after the wedding. Maybe by then he will decide not to run.

Somewhere between the time I got up at eleven and fifteen minutes ago, we had quite a stupid and large ant invasion in the master bathroom. Raid came out and killed every single one and I hope that will be the end of that. Thankfully, none in the shower.

Good luck that is the end of your invasion!

Is DR Ron our only veteran?
I never gave this any thought. I know der Brucer was in the Army, but I do not recall anyone else mentioning military service.
-
And now, I must be off. My friend Shelly isn't feeling well (tummy troubles :( ), so we're postponing lunch together, so I'll go on my own (a Les Misérables reference), then go to my mom's later this afternoon.
Be back later.

Larry, one of the main reasons that Kari Lake is doing well is because she was a local news anchor for 22 years in Phoenix. Her face is recognized everywhere, as is her voice. That broadcasting experience serves her well in her campaign.
I detest her and everything that she represents.

Not that long ago, she was a supporter of Obama, a vegetarian, and a self-proclaimed Buddhist.
She also was friendly with a local well known drag queen, who performed at her home with her young children present.

So, a complete fake and phony, but a truly dangerous one.
She must lose.

TCB, are your doctors concerned that your pain patch will interact with the hydrocodone in a way that could risk your health?
They should be able to monitor and adjust your dose if necessary.

Hello, everyone.

Hi, Jeanne!

Made a pot of chicken soup today, perfect for this rainy weather.
Off to sample some.
Be back later.

Last night the heater here in the apartment made a loud noise, then wouldn't work. I scheduled a service call with the gas company, but the earliest I could get is 3 weeks away. I bundled up and thought I might be OK without heat (low of 46), but no! I didn't sleep well as a result. This morning I phoned the manager, who clearly did not want to contact a contractor. She instead asked my neighbor, who is handy, to light the pilot. It was indeed out and he was able to light it, so at the moment all is well. I am suspicious, though, and will keep the gas company appointment, if only to do a safety check. It's been a few years, as they wouldn't send people out during Covid.
What was funny was that I had just been thinking that I should invest in a space heater just in case. I put in on my list just a couple hours before this happened and finalizing that purchase decision was the first thing I did this morning.
-
Hello, Iris.
-
I did some laundry this morning, then ran an errand. I can feel I'm winding down. I had much anxiety for many months prior to the election, as I'm sure many DRs had. I'm very glad it's over.
-
Good idea to keep the service appointment, DR Jeanne.
-
Hope you can stay warm enough to sleep well.
-
I agree; we're all suffering from the tension of the election.
-
And the time change.
-
I sense a new activism. We used to just vote and feel we'd done our part. But now I feel that I must donate to the causes I believe in -- not just charities -- and we must do all we can to elect candidates who will fight for the values we thought we all shared.
-
Hope you can stay warm enough to sleep well.
Thank you.
-
I suppose I should go find something productive to do.
-
How are your doing, Sing? I'm afraid I'm not up to date on the haps at HHW.
-
Or perhaps not. ;)
-
I suppose I should go find something productive to do.
why?
-
Oh, I'm doing fine, DR Jeanne. Busy at work with Open Enrollment.
-
I will try to take a nap.
-
It's going to cool down here over the weekend, which is fine with me.
-
Oh, I'm doing fine, DR Jeanne. Busy at work with Open Enrollment.
Yes, I'm sure you are.
-
I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost upon us.
-
It's going to cool down here over the weekend, which is fine with me.
That's because you have heat.
-
;D
-
With the radiant heat from the other apartments in the building, we never even have to turn on the heat the entire winter.
-
gobble, gobble.
-
Crazy, but true.
-
That's not to say that I don't bundle up in fleece.
-
I wonder if a therapy chicken would keep one warm?
-
And one to grow on.
-
Seven!
-
With the radiant heat from the other apartments in the building, we never even have to turn on the heat the entire winter.
Oh, that's really nice. Let your neighbors pay your heating bill. My apartment probably gets some heat from the first floor, but this place is so drafty that it sometimes feels like there's a window open.
-
The therapy chicken idea doesn't quite work for me. I've had thoughts about a little robot, though.
-
I'd probably want to reprogram it.
-
I guess I chased away Singdaw.

It sounds like a space heater might be helpful even if your heat stays on.

Back from seeing the first cut of episode one. I made some slight adjustments but overall it played really well - charming and funny and boy does it move along quickly. Still have to fix some sound things (the boom mic sound has to still by sunk up so that will get done over the next few days. The music cues work great and there are a couple of fx shots that will get done, but overall I could not have been more pleased.
-
Ordered Cheesecake Factory - the pasta I like.
-
Have no idea how long it will take to arrive.
-
Watching the episode, I realized we need a few more transition cues, and there's a commercial that Sami does in episode one and that needs to be scored - I didn't know that until I saw it.

Christmas Thanksgiving.

MSNBC newscasters have, alternately, run a montage of Fox News "red wave" prognostications made over the past month or two...all predicting a wave or a tsunami. Joe Rogan claimed it was going to look like the elevator doors opening in "The Shining" that showed gallons of blood rushing out.
Oddly, Fox News has been rather introspective lately (they say on MSNBC). I refuse to watch it under any circumstances, so I'll take MSNBC's word on it.

DR slingjaw!!! It's past your bedtime...i'n'it?
-
Good night from South Carolina, all!
-
Friday evening greetings! I spent a delightful afternoon with my AAUW friends working at our Holiday Bazaar. Today was the first day of the second weekend and everything was half price.
Any city directories?
No, DR Elmore, this isn’t that kind of sale. Now, if you’re in need of some gently used holiday decor, we can fix you right up.
-
DR slingjaw!!! It's past your bedtime...i'n'it?
You bet your bippy!
-
~~~TRAVEL VIBES~~~ for DR Laura tomorrow....
-
Good night, friends.
-
Just finished The Last Chairlift. Not John Irving’s best. I liked the ending, but too many of his themes rehashed to lesser effect.
-
I would like to change my username to DR Iris, and no longer use “lurker”.
Can anyone here on HHW instruct me on the right way to do that?
Mind you, I’m still unable to place your quotes correctly, or know how to add links and photos. Sigh.
-
I have an old iPad mini, and my operating system isn’t updated to the latest version.
Don’t want to buy a new one at this time.
-
Looking forward to seeing the first episode of “Sami”.
It’s going to be on Amazon Prime, correct?
Any idea when it will be available to watch,BK?
I nominate George. And I will just call you Iris, regardless of what it says on your posts.
-
Now that the Irving novel is over, I’m moving on to The Neuroscience of You and Aunt Sass, by P.L. Travers.
-
Good night, all.
-
Good night, John.
Sleep well.
-
Dear soon to be reader Iris - would you like it to read Dear Reader Iris? Or DR Iris? I should think the former - I can change it for you so let me know.
-
“The Fabelmans” soundtrack is out, and the 2 songs that I listened to are hauntingly beautiful. Both are solo piano pieces as a tribute to Spielberg’s late mother, Leah.
I had no idea that she had been a concert pianist.
-
Iris, would you like me to change your moniker, yes or no?
-
Listening to music.
-
To music I'm listening.
-
The Fury by John Williams, just because it followed The Fabelmans in the Music app queue.
-
I feel page nine should, like Dear reader Iris, be lurking nearby
-
I knew it!
-
I sensed it.
-
I both knew and sensed it.
-
Not necessarily in that order.
-
Sorry, BK, I got distracted by the latest election news and forgot to log out.
Mark Kelly has won the race for Senator in Arizona.
All we need is one more.
-
it looks like everyone here uses first names.
How about Iris?
Thank you, Bruce.
-
BK, Raid also makes a product called Ant Gel. You squirt it into cracks and crevices, and it works for a month. There is no odor.
-
It worked really well for me when I lived in Newport Beach, which has a terrible ant problem.
-
Sorry I missed Ron’s post a few hours ago about the election update.
I really like Mark Kelly and his wife.
I met her in Tucson before she was shot and almost killed.
She was kind and brilliant, and would have definitely been a Senator many years ago, had it not been for that tragic assassination attempt in 2011.
Does anyone have plans to travel by air over the Thanksgiving holiday?
Or by train?
-
She plans to be Trump’s VP pick.
I thought MTG was gunning for that role.
-
Does anyone have plans to travel by air over the Thanksgiving holiday?
Or by train?
Not me. I'm not going anywhere.
-
Have a good time at your mom’s, George.
Will you play Phase 10?
Thanks, Iris. Yes, we played three games of Phase 10...and I won two games!! ;D
-
Iris, turns out I can't do it - looked like I could. So, click on your name, then click on Account Settings - you'll see your username first and under it "Change" click on that and you'll be able to change it.
-
Ok, thanks, shall give it a try.
-
Sorry guys. This new medicine has made me really tired.
-
I guess I just need to get used to it.
-
Also, a little nauseous.
-
But Paul warned me about that.
-
I did absolutely NOTHING today.
-
God Bless all of uur Veterans, and all those currently serving.
-
I need to read all of today’s posts.
-
Back from seeing the first cut of episode one. I made some slight adjustments but overall it played really well - charming and funny and boy does it move along quickly. Still have to fix some sound things (the boom mic sound has to still by sunk up so that will get done over the next few days. The music cues work great and there are a couple of fx shots that will get done, but overall I could not have been more pleased.
Fantastic!
-
I don't have anything to say ;D
Never stopped anyone before. ;)
-
The temperature dropped from 80 to 49.
Yikes! :o
Larry, one of the main reasons that Kari Lake is doing well is because she was a local news anchor for 22 years in Phoenix. Her face is recognized everywhere, as is her voice. That broadcasting experience serves her well in her campaign.
I detest her and everything that she represents.
I want her made into a rug.
I'd rather see her as a shrunken head.
We now have 49 confirmed Democrats as Senators!!!!
Two are left. One in Nevada, and the runoff in Georgia in December.
We should know about Nevada sometime tomorrow.
Hoo and Ray!!
-
The three latest Kritzerland releases have landed in the Midwest.
Congrats! Hopefully, I'll get mine sometime next week.
-
Elmore’s favorite (NOT!) is drawing rave reviews.
I will be curious to hear the eventual recording.
Whom or what are we talking about?
I wouldn't watch it, either. I've been watching MSNBC and while they're pretty excited about the outcomes and potential outcomes, they do back it all up with something called facts. FOX should try it sometime.
-
Oh, look! It's Page 10!!
-
TCB, are your doctors concerned that your pain patch will interact with the hydrocodone in a way that could risk your health?
They should be able to monitor and adjust your dose if necessary.
Very good, Iris. That is it exactly.
Kimberly Akimbo (https://www.ibdb.com/broadway-production/kimberly-akimbo-534754), starring Larry's MOST least favorite actress, Victoria Clark.
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
My very own eyeballs have seen them.
-
They're there.
-
Notes.
-
And plenty of 'em.
-
I loved her in TITANIC.
