Well, you've read the notes, the notes had eighty sleeps, and now it is time for you to post until the eighty cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: JOUISSANCE!
-
Welcome 148 GUESTS.
-
Rodzinski, new taco thing is called Crispy Melt Taco.
-
And it suddenly disappeared from the DoorDash Taco Bell menu - it was there forty-five minutes ago, and it's in my order summary but it's gone. I assume all Taco Bells have it.
-
You had the last Crispy Melt Taco in greater LA!
-
Notes absorbed, savored.

BK I’d like to hear the Creature Wasn’t Nice commentary track. Is that available on Kritzerland?
-
I just came across Peter Filicia's review of "Finale" by D. T. Max:
SONDHEIM DESERVED A BETTER FINALE (https://masterworksbroadway.com/blog/sondheim-deserved-a-better-finale-by-peter-filichia/)
::)
-
Ah yes, I think I found it.
-
Funny I just a moment ago noticed “Filichia Friday” still shows up on the Kritzerland site. And wondered if he was still around.
-
I found a record from like 1969 that is from Peter’s high school in Massachusetts I think, with a teenage Peter on it.

Ahh...this woman gets it:
Why I'm the Last Person on Earth Still Buying CDs (https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/why-im-the-last-person-on-earth-still-buying-cds/)
In this chaotic world, I seek order in the form of a tremendously large CD collection.
:)
-
And now, I must be off. Good night, Rodzinski.
Have a good day, all!

Pretty much echoes what I’d heard about this book. I think there’s a place for someone to interview a guy like Sondheim and not be fully steeped in Sondheim lore. You might get some fresh insights that way. But this guy didn’t know the basics or do much homework.
-
Good night, Sir George!
-
Good morning, friends.

~~~CONTINUED STRONGEST MAJOR MIRACLE VIBES~~~ for the likes of BK!!!!!!!!
-
Rodzinski - yes, The Creature Wasn't Nice DVD has, for the first time ever, the original cut of the movie, which is a whole different movie - there are three commentary tracks - me, Cindy and me, and editor Marshall Harvey and me.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I could not get to sleep last night. It took forever, but once I fell asleep, it wasn't a bad night at all.
-
I had a dream that we were in rehearsal for Moonshine and Mistletoe, and we had a cast member who kept bringing in folk songs he wanted to perform instead of the actual score for the show.
-
It's supposed to be a beautiful day with temperatures in the 60s. I need to step out to my pharmacy and a Staples to scan a ballet score, and I had meant to do it this morning. So, I'll do it tomorrow. It's supposed to rain tomorrow and I am not happy about that.
The largest tiramisu ever created was over 900 feet long.
Speaking of rain...
Does anyone have any thoughts on this album?
Leontyne celebrated her 95th birthday the other day.
But wiser head prevailed.
Good morning, all.
Great night of sleep and up at 7. Have doctor's appointment today.
The week is only half over but seems to have been longer.
Unexpected issues challenge me, but so far, so good!
I wish everyone well!
I don’t like the Phoodle word today.
I said it. I’m sticking with it.
The harpejji is an electric stringed musical instrument developed in 2007 by American audio engineer Tim Meeks. It is sort of a cross between a piano and a guitar.
So, DR John G. - phooey on phoodle today?
It sounds like something Craig Stevens sings in She Had to Go Back in Here’s Love. Arpegie-something. Can’t quite spell it out.
Good morning, all.
Well, I've got me a beautiful ME day -- like DR Elmore said, it will be totally spring like out there -- but I've got a sore neck that I realize was developing yesterday, and now it has demanded and captured my full attention. We've got the threat of rain tomorrow and Friday, too, but today will have to be spent taking it easy inside and finding the best positions to allow this sprain or whatever it is to relax and heal.
I'm interested in those fish sandwiches, but am also concerned about BK's finding them a little gross. I actually came "this" close to buying some Gorton's last week. But I also need to have me a McDonald's filet o' fish. People (including my own housemates) swear by them, and I'm not sure that I've ever had one! I'm also pretty sure I haven't had such a thing from any fast food chain, or of any store bought variety. So this hole in my life shall have to be filled -- and soon.
-
We do have a tartar sauce I like. I think it's just a store brand that, for me, hits the right balance. We just had it recently with the Gorton's popcorn shrimp.
BK, if you can't find anything good worth watching, maybe you should return to the Ghibli films. I really enjoyed reading your commentary on those.
-
ChasSmith, Alexa played Santa Fe from Newsies last night. It seemed like too many modulations and not enough melody. Plus, the lyrics were dreary.
-
Many people don't know that in the initial draft, the penultimate Hello, Dolly! song was titled "So Long, Dreary."
-
McDonald's filet-o-fish are really good when they're really good and not so hot when they're not. I'd say I've had mostly good luck with them and they do have the best tartar sauce of any chain. Best tartar sauce in a restaurant is Smokehouse. I've had two and a half hours of sleep so far, but am NOT up yet :)
Thanks, everyone, we are very happy to be DONE with the HWS Estate.
Once I get the last bank statement - since my aunt finally cashed her check at the beginning of this month - the balance will be zero. And I can put everything away in a drawer and forget about it.
Jessica at Huntington Bank says she has pushed to button to close the account and the final statement should be arriving soon.
-
MR BK if you want to stay awake I suggest you watch Le Bonheur.....a French film from France.
I watched it on TCM this week and it is most excellent. It is not a thriller....well I'm not sure what I would call it.....sort of a romance....anyway.....highly recommended by the likes of me.
Neck vibes for DR CHAS SMITH.
I am most interested in the rant coming in the notes tomorrow.
-
DR GEORGE I love your new autographed LP!
I was noted yesterday and as Hayley Mills would say: It is scathingly brilliant.
We have temps in the 60's today so the windows are open and it's very pleasant.
Public Service Announcement:
WalMart is experiencing a bag shortage! It is recommended that you take your own if you plan on shopping.
Hugs for DR ELMORE......
Thanks! I'm very happy the estate is now settled and I did not have to send you the cake with a file in it.
They can be very good...unless they're not. ::)
Just don't get them late at night when there's not a lot of business. They may not be as fresh as they need to be. :P
I love Debbie Gravitte's version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6AcCZmDXgE) of the original movie version of the song on her CD produced by BK! It's my absolute favorite version of the song!
What BK said!
What brand is it?
Shop Rite's own "Bowl & Basket" brand. There's none here now so I called Kristi to be sure. She said the Gorton's for sandwiches sounds great, but she sometimes gets the F-o-F without the cheese and recommends trying the home version without it, too. I could definitely see trying it both ways, as American cheese can be cloying, and I see that McDonald's puts a half slice on the fish - or at least not a hamburger size square.
-
Well, damn damn damn! My printer has died. I am not happy at the moment.
:'(
-
Larry, I'd you haven't looked at them (and someone else hasn't already mentioned it, and you don't have/want a laser printer), I'd recommend an Epson EcoTank! They have large reservoirs for the colors which you buy in individual bottles, so you only have to fill each color as needed, and they're very inexpensive!
I think I found the band for next year's Super Bowl halftime show!
Because, except for the few times I've tried a chicken sandwich there (with greatly mixed results), I'm such a lifelong hamburger and all-around meat eating guy that it simply doesn't occur to me to be at a place like McDonald's and bother with anything except the burgers. I'll have one this week, though, and I look forward to it, and to then doing the at-home thing.
I like the McDonald's FOF.
My experience with Gorton's was exactly like MR BK's......I don't think I ate more than two of the six that were in package.
I will say that I probably should have used my new Air Fryer and they might have been better!
-
Thanks DR ELMORE - I may need that cake before the summer season is over!
I second the suggestion on the printer with an eco-tank. I'm am waiting for my printer to give up the ghost....we shall see.
-
I keep thinking about Le Bonheur......I may watch it again if it's ON DEMAND.
I've liked the Gorton's by themselves on a plate just fine, and in fact have always wished there were more in the package or that they were bigger. I'm wondering if perhaps they get to be a little "much" for sandwiches, and especially with the cheese added.
This definitely calls for experimentation!
-
I think scientific theory demands bringing home a FOF, removing the fish from the sandwich, putting it on a plate next to a Gorton's, and finding out exactly what the difference is in the filet itself.
One could likewise compare the two tartar sauces.
That's tantamount to wasting a FOF, since one isn't likely to reconstruct the sandwich after all of that. But there are times when sacrifices must be made in the name of SCIENCE.
That sounds very good, but again there is that ingredient called Mascarpone.
While I don't hate Mascarpone, I don't particularly care for it.
That is actually a very good idea.
I still recall the shock that she lost a beauty contest, while on a family trip to San Diego when I was young, long before she was famous. My father remembered her from the contest.
Mom’s caregiver yesterday was invited to join her for a VD dinner and happy hour. Story is the caregiver drank everything in sight, including other people’s drinks (hard liquor), and proceeded to complain about the service.
That's a sad story DR JANE.
I liked to watch Miss Raquel Welch on the talk shows. Once in the middle of a conversation Mr Dick Cavett said to her: "How does it feel to turn 30?" And she looked him in the eye and said: "You son of a BLEEP!"
I liked her in The Three Musketeers and on Seinfeld.
I look forward to DR CHAS SMITH's thesis on the fish.
He tells me he can show it as a PowerPoint on the college bulletin board.....so I guess we'll do that. But I am really more interested in getting the word out to the community than to the students who will all be gone in May.
Good evening.
I'm up, I'm up - eleven hours of sleep. I didn't sleep until five, was up at eleven briefly and thought, one more hour, and here we are. The entire day gone, a horrid text to deal with, and now I'll try to catch up on stuff, but of course Microsoft Office wants to do ANOTHER update, third in two weeks. They'll be getting a call from you-know-who.
CDs are shipping over a period of days. It would be faster but many invoices that were forwarded have NO information on them, so I have to go to PayPal, find it, which is a pain, and then cut and paste the address into an email - I'm really irritated - so far it's been thirty orders like that. But for dear reader orders, even if there's no info we have you in the computer and I know what the order is.
-
Hello, everyone.
-
Bruce, have you checked your email?
-
Carving Board, a local eatery, serves a fish & chips sandwich that is quite good. They put potato chips on it, which I think is silly. I tell them to leave them off, then I order fries.
Bruce, you ought to try one.
Ah, I got your reply.
I went to the hairdresser today, then stopped at my favorite food store. Exciting, huh?
Forecast for tonight's low is 38 degrees. Given how so few houses here have any insulation and many of us have toy heating systems, that is COLD. I was warm last night, though. We'll see how tonight goes.
Vibes to all.
DR Jeanne, stay warm tonight!
Freshness maybe.
I stopped for red velvet ice cream on the way home. Because I am worth it.
Working my way through Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South. At times, it’s incredible with its depiction of the Industrial Age coming to England. At other times, it’s every 19th century novel cliche, from the sensible heroine to the flighty mother.
Well, I'm off to my sister's. My niece had me order her some lotions in a couple of favorite scents that this particular brand hadn't had in a few years, and I'm now going to deliver them.
After that, I'm thinking of going to the local Meconi's Subs (https://www.meconissubs.com/) for dinner. They are quite delish!
-
Working my way through Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South. At times, it’s incredible with its depiction of the Industrial Age coming to England. At other times, it’s every 19th century novel cliche, from the sensible heroine to the flighty mother.
We watched the mini series of three of her novels, North and South, Wives and Daughters, and Cranford. I considered reading them, then decided not to as the series were simply wonderful. Instead I read her first novel, Mary Barton.
Do you order them since it is convenient to have them delivered at your work?
I could probably have saved the time and watched them. Cranford was very close to the novel. Both were a real treat.
-
There was a death scene in North and South that was truly moving.
-
Did four racks of dishes and I’m not finished yet.
-
I read that as "four racks of radishes," and I was trying to figure out what that meant.
-
One more.
-
PAGE EIGHT.
DR Singdaw, sorry I interrupted ;)
Keith is popping corn so.....
-
Amazon says I have an order arriving "by 10PM."
-
But i know I won't make it until then.
-
Never apologize for posting, DR Jane! :)
-
A post is a post.
-
The more the merrier.
-
If you know what I mean.
-
But we're well on our way to a new page.
-
So there's that.
-
There is this.
-
And there is that.
-
I read that as "four racks of radishes," and I was trying to figure out what that meant.
In my house that means business as usual.
-
There is here.
-
And there is there.
-
In my house that means business as usual.
I am glad to hear it.
-
Eight is a reprobate.
-
Let's hear it for radishes.
-
Nine?
-
Yep.
-
Another great episode of All Creatures Great and Small.
-
Mrs Pomfrey declaring she’d go after Nazis with her root vegetables was hilarious.
-
Root vegetables are wildly underestimated.
-
Nine is benign.
-
At our peril.
-
Nine is all mine.
-
Nine is bovine.
-
What is this, the Perils of Pauline?
-
Nine is Ovaltyne.
-
Nine is Glühwein.
-
Nine is strychnine.
-
Nine is Byzantine.
-
Not to be confused with Stritchie.
-
Nine is genuine.
-
Nine doesn't support Mike DeWine.
-
Not to be confused with Stritchie.
Who or what came ever be confused with Stritchie?
-
Nine dresses like Divine.
-
Nine drinks quinine.
Nein, nein, nine.
Nine makes me recline.
-
Nine I must decline.
-
Ten!
-
Gawrsh!
-
You cleaned Nine's clock, DR John G.
-
I'm certainly mighty proud to say it.
-
On which BK album was the song "4,000 Sunsets" contained?
-
Do you order them since it is convenient to have them delivered at your work?
My sister works from home, so it would've been more convenient to just send them there. No, my niece asked if I would get them for her birthday, even though it's not until April. ::)
-
Nine I must decline.
Heading to the Argentine?
-
;D
-
A guy is walking through the country when he spots a sign that reads, “Talking Horse for Sale.”
-
Fading.
-
Intrigued, he walks up to the stable to check it out.
-
“So what have you done with your life?” he asks the horse.
-
Singdaw, were you thinking of “44 Sunsets”?
-
“I’ve led a full life,” the horse answers miraculously. “I was born in The Andes where I herded for an entire village
-
Years later Ijoined the New York City mounted police and helped to keep the city cl an of crime
-
If so, it is a personal favorite of mine, sung by Daisy Eagan, from the musical “The Little Prince”.
It’s on Broadway Bound, which I love.
-
Sorry to interrupt you, vixmom. 😊
-
And now, I spend my days giving free rides to underprivileged kids here in the country.”
-
The guys flabbergasted
-
He asks the horse’s owner, “Why on earth would you want to get rid of such an incredible animal?”
-
Thank you, DR DR Iris. That's it! And I appreciate your quick response.
-
The owner says,” Because he’s a liar! He never did any of that stuff!”
-
And sorry for interrupting, DR vixmom.
-
Tough room
-
The owner says,” Because he’s a liar! He never did any of that stuff!”
:))
-
DR vixmom - please keep going with the animal and barnyard jokes. Please!
-
Vixmom, that’s so funny! 😄
-
We can DO this.
-
Just a few more.
-
Here we go...
-
ELEVEN!
-
Good night, friends.
-
And radishes.
-
Gotta love double digits!
-
It’s a shame DR John G is having trouble with one of his digits.
-
And DR Larry is having trouble with his printer, a machine most foul.
-
The trouble I’m having is with my propane delivery service. They won’t deliver to me. Their customer service dept has gone rogue. This evening I had a lady pretending she couldn’t hear me and telling me to call back in 2 minutes, by which time they’d closed.
-
Last episode of Miss Scarlet for the season.
-
Good night, all.
-
Rodzinski, why won’t the propane service deliver to you?
-
Do you need propane to heat your home?
-
I rarely am satisfied with customer service these days, at least on the phone.
Ended up getting rid of Verizon Wireless for that reason.
They have no idea what “customer service” means.
-
I was a customer service supervisor when I worked in the airline industry.
My calls were carefully monitored.
Had I behaved the way customer service agents behave now, I would have been fired on my first day, if not my first hour.
-
DR Iris, it’s a big national conglomerate, and the online system is not communicating with the local delivery service. They are measuring my usage based on the last homeowners, but those people lived here only seasonally. And we need it for heat, yes
-
Here on page 11 and all have fled.
-
Perhaps DR BK has gotten to the early bedtime he craved.
-
Halfway to 12. Dare I delve?
-
Jan 2 was the last time a 12th page was reached.
-
Yes.
Let us delve.
-
Rodzinski, what movies have you enjoyed this year?
I watched Argentina, 1985 last night.
-
So close to twelving, we should be delving!
-
So close to twelving, we should be delving!
If in a library, you could be shelving.
-
So, tonight's Meconi's sub was quite good.
-
Yes.
Our posts we must not shelve, until we get to twelve.
-
However, I didn't realize that their winter hours were still in effect, so they were closing at 7:00, about 5 minutes after I got there. ::)
-
I’m trying to think of the last movie I watched and nothing is coming to mind. I was going to take the wife to a movie after Valentine’s dinner, and I couldn’t even find anything I’d like to see.
I guess I kinda watched The Swimmer in bits and pieces on YouTube when Burt Lancaster came up.
-
Oh, good, I want to hear about George’s culinary adventures tonight.
-
I was able to get my sub, but I expected to be able to stay there for an hour and read my book on my Kindle...but I couldn't.
-
So, I brought my sub sandwich home, and ate and read here.
-
As for movies, I’ve never seen “Spirited Away”, which I plan to watch tomorrow.
-
They did say that their hours would go back to normal (closing at 8:00 pm) in a couple of weeks.
-
I wish The Fabelmans was available to stream.
Still charging almost $20 to watch from home.
-
Oh, look! We're now delving into the shelving while twelving! ;D
-
Last year I watched every episode of the ‘80s TV show “It’s A Living” on YouTube. That was my comfort viewing. Show holds up rather well.
-
PAGE 12!
-
Last year I watched every episode of the ‘80s TV show “It’s A Living” on YouTube. That was my comfort viewing. Show holds up rather well.
I remember watching that show when it was originally broadcast. I really liked it.
-
My comfort viewing is Seinfeld and Arrested Development.
Highly underrated! Good writing. Good characters. Handled cast turnover well. Where is Ann Jillian when we need her now?
-
I will give “It’s A Living” a try, based on your recommendation.
-
We hit the twelves all by ourselves.
I just looked her up and I didn't realize that she was still alive! I knew that she had battled cancer, but I guess I just assumed that she had died! Her birthday was January 29, 1950, so she just turned 73! ;D
-
Her last IMDb listing (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0422713/) was in 2000.
-
Am trying to break my habit of watching cable news, especially MSNBC.
It’s difficult, as we’ve been together for many years.
-
One thing HHW has reminded me in my return is the strange comfort I get from learning what other folks eat on a daily basis.
-
We did well tonight, boys.
Time for me to say good night.
Sleep well. 😴
-
I really do enjoy living vicariously through hearing about everyone’s adventures in the world of good eats.
-
There’s a semi-recent interview with Ann on YouTube where she looks great. She was such a large presence in the ‘80s that you’d think she had more credits overall.
-
Good night DR Iris!
-
George, you get to eat French pastries as Mr.
Yum.
-
Good night for real.
-
Gratuitous Post #350!!
-
George, you get to eat French pastries as Mr.
Yum.
I'm looking forward to that. ;)
-
I also got to eat chocolate cake at the end of A Murder is Announced.
-
I think I might need to specify in any future auditions that I won't accept a role unless I get to eat on stage! :D
-
The great Paul Kreppel as Sonny Mann. They’d probably have to tone down his leering schtick today, but he was hilarious.
-
Here's a six-and-a-half minute video about Ann:
Whatever Happened to Ann Jillian - Star of "It's a Living" and "Jennifer Slept Here" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hblIxjcK5CU)
-
And then there's this half-hour interview from 2015:
Interview with Ruta Lee and Ann Jillian hollywood, ca (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kLlHCNKses)
-
I think I might need to specify in any future auditions that I won't accept a role unless I get to eat on stage! :D
Add that to your special talents section on your resume. “Master of on-stage ingestion.” Like a variation on stage combat. Not everyone can eat convincingly on stage.
-
She does still look good!
-
I’m still here. 🎶
-
George, they substituted mashed potatoes for icing during our Phoenix production of Sunday.
-
I can’t remember why, but whoever played Mr. and “Peaches” were very disappointed.
-
This is an official Bar Mitzvah page.
-
Thirteen!
-
I'll do it!!
-
George, they substituted mashed potatoes for icing during our Phoenix production of Sunday.
That makes no sense! :o
-
I know!
They used mashed potatoes for ice cream too.
-
Maybe they stay solid for a longer period of time.
-
And don't need freezing?
-
DR Iris can’t quit us!
-
Dare we dream… of the land of 13?
-
It’s true!
-
Oh, we’re well into 13 already. Lol
-
I was watching Ruta and Ann and missed some mashed potatoes posts.
-
I believe mashed potatoes are used because they don’t melt under the spotlight, like ice cream and whipped cream.
-
I fled not - notes took a LONG time.
-
Thirteen pages, baby.
-
But no TCB
-
New notes are up.
-
Up are new notes.
-
I've seen them.
-
I've read them.
-
I wrote them.
-
I believe mashed potatoes are used because they don’t melt under the spotlight, like ice cream and whipped cream.
That makes sense.
-
They feature a long rant.
-
Everyone knows an ant can't do a haineshisway rant.
-
Anyone who thinks Oscar Levant can't rant has never known Oscar Levant.
-
Can we make it to Page 14??
-
I was promised a rant in these notes.
-
One more...
-
PAGE FOURTEEN DANCE!! ;D
-
A good old-fashioned rant is what I need this night.
