Well, you've read the notes, the notes were notes deprived, and now it is time for you to post until the sleep deprived depraved cows come home.

And the word of the day is: OPULENT!

TOD: Definitely Being There.
-
Good morning, all!

I expect that today and tomorrow I will be sitting at my calculator tallying up figures to fill in my tax worksheet. I want to deliver the finished product to my new accountant on Monday morning. He's asked for everything two weeks before my appointment, and my appointment is three weeks away.
-
How wonderful to see our portly DR TCB back with us! I would never refer to him as fat.
-
Glad to read that BK experienced a major miracle yesterday.
~~~CONTINUED VIBES~~~ for many more!!!!!! And soon.
I am quite pleased with my new printer. It was humming along like mad yesterday afternoon when I printed out my online payments for that enormous radiation treatments bill. I think I have five payments left.
Zadie Smith has written a play about Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath called The Wife of Willesden. I’d like to see that.
As for books - DR JOHN G I would recommend Up With The Sun by Thomas Mallon and another book by the same author - Fellow Travelers.
1960s absurdist-type plays sounds good.
Mixed feelings about the frozen Marie Callender products. I guess I've only ever tried the pot pies, but I gave up on the chicken ones after finding gristle more than once, and I liked the turkey and the beef ones for quite a while. Then one day I found they had totally changed the "beef" pieces into something I couldn't even describe, so farewell to that. The turkey ones might still be okay, but I'm afraid I've moved on to other things.
I loved the restaurants, of which I believe only one or two remain (?), but I haven't been in one since 1987-89 when I enjoyed some satisfying meals at the "flagship" location on Wilshire which is now long gone. Sad, sad, sad.
-
Good to see the fat DR back online last night.
-
Groundhog Day was extremely well done. The producer's notes state that MTI approached them about being the first to do it in Connecticut, and I would say they stepped up to the plate just fine. And I liked the show itself.
-
Got a loaf of lemon cranberry bread in the oven.
-
I hope it’s okay. The baking powder was clumpy. I hope I sifted it all.
-
Popped in a third-rate noir called Jigsaw with Franchot Tone and a cast of forgotten character actors. People like Hester, not Gale, Sondergaard.
-
Lots of smoking and drinking. Love it.
-
Tone: I never drink alone.
Barkeep: That can be fixed. (Takes a big gulp.)
-
DR John, hmmm. While not great, I just finished reading The Music of Bees for my book group and liked it very much.
-
I went to visit a friend that has recently been moved from her home to memory care.
But when I got there, I found that my friend had been "signed out" by her niece for the weekend.
I am glad that my friend has a chance for a change of scenery, and now I know how to get there and what the protocols are.
From DR John:
Oops, guess you didn't want my suggestion ;D
After I finish one my 19th century novels, I feel it’s hard to get into something else.
-
From DR John:
I have started watching Winter’s Tale, a Colin Ferrell fantasy. It’s pretty bad. Russell Crowe at his worst. Well, he’s not singing here, so second worst.
I liked the novel. Until you mentioned the film I had put it out of my mind.
-
Yes John, the book was good ;)
-
From George:
I first read that as, "They hated the bread and said it was delicious as usual."
;D
The loaf sent to Maryland is still missing. Maybe DR Iris has it ;)
You can find sweet onions, just not Walla Walla :)
The oven has been wiped down (Keith scrubbed the window for me) and the self cleaner is working. I know it is working cuz I can smell it.
-
I washed the sheets and put them back on the bed.
-
I washed a load of clothes and folded them.
-
My shoulder is saying it needs to rest.
-
Alas, I must scrub the cleaning racks that should not be in the oven during the self cleaning cycle.
-
Keith walked in just as I was about to scrub the first rack. He proceeded to clean all three racks for me :)
Gratuitous post 100!
Nice. I’m still waiting on my last form. It never arrives on time.
Annoying, isn't it.
Tell Keith my oven could use his attention.
I can't find anything that does a good job cleaning the inside of the window.....
And I don't have a self-cleaning oven,,,,
Yes Henry is one kute kat.
-
Thanks DR JANE - yes the Celebration of Life was very nice. Lots of folks there so I met a lot of new people.
Some nice photos and good food......
Of course I got in the car wearing dress pants and a coat and tie....my sister said: "Forgot to tell you - Dane said wear jeans..."
So I just said I would rather look like I was going to a COL and not a tractor pull.....
-
I left my coat in the car.
-
I was not the only one who didn't get the message.
LOL, were you the only one not wearing jeans? Was your sister wearing jeans?
-
I was not the only one who didn't get the message.
You just answered my 1st question.
-
That same thing happened to me at my dad's memorial service two years ago. My sister said "really, no one's going to dress, and I'll probably just be wearing jeans". But I hadn't taken anything with me that would have been casual AND presentable, even by my low standards. So it was slacks, tie, and blazer. And yes, I left the blazer in the car.
And as it happened, a couple of other guys did show up in similar or better. So there! Take that, heathens! :)
I need to do mine quite soonly, but I need to contact the credit union where my car loan is so that I can find out what how much interest I paid on it last year.
If I was sent a paper document, I can't find it ( ::) ), and I can't find how to get to my loan online. I have an account, but it just leads me in circles.
ATLANTA (Feb. 18, 2023) — After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers.
Zingerman's always has great service. They are sending Craig a new loaf of bread.
I didn't mention that DR Iris ate it, only that Craig didn't receive it.
-
They're working on the upload thing.
-
DR Jane, I just looked at the website for Zingerman’s. Yum.
Reminds me a little bit of Zabars in New York.
-
Is the Cherry Chocolate bread your favorite?
My daughter and son in law’s 7th wedding anniversary is coming up soon.
This might be one of the gifts that I’ll send them.
-
Their wedding’s theme was Japanese cherry blossoms, so I like that idea.
Possibly. Both my sons say the Paesano Bread is their favorite. It was Bryan who introduced me to the Cherry Chocolate. My daughter in-law was enjoying it. They must have popped it into the oven as soon as it was delivered.
-
Their wedding’s theme was Japanese cherry blossoms, so I like that idea.
The bread ties in nicely with that theme.
Good news, at least, on the book.
-
This has been another very weird, strange and odd day for me.
No reason in particular, I don't believe, but I could give BK some competition in the "sitting-there-like-so-much-fish" department.
-
Loved the jokes, Vixmom.
-
Starting an odd movie called The Dark Mirror with Olivia de Havilland as twins, one of whom is a murderer. Should be a noir, but it’s kinda played for laughs. Another Robert Siodmik flick.
-
I finally got around to watching "Star Trek: Beyond".
I know...it was released a long while back, but I never sat and watched it until tonight.
I enjoyed it, mostly, except that it was a tad nerve-wracking trying to keep track of what they were doing in the action sequences. I had no doubt things would work out, but those sequences were very unnervingly quick.
The film is beautifully made, never boring, and is well-scored by Michael Giacchino. The "In memory of Leonard Nimoy" end credit, followed by "For Anton", was very touching.
-
Dancing was exhausting tonight. And my finger is irritated.
Hope your finger continues to improve, John!
FWIW, I had some Chinese dumplings for dinner.
They weren't bad, but I have had much better. I need to experiment with my cooking a bit more, I guess.
